House Salad
Denise H.

My sister brought me Texas road house for Mother's Day. We ordered from the pick up area outside and waited in the parking lot. The service was quick. My meal was beef tips, sweet potato, mash potatoes, salad and delicious rolls. My meal was tasty.

Another great experience at Texas Roadhouse! Our server, Elijah, was the bee's knees super knowledgeable, checked in with us often, and had no issues helping us with to-go packaging. The food came out hot, everything was smooth, and we were in and out in about 45 minutes. I really appreciated how calm and professional the entire staff was. I'll definitely be returning to this location. And let's be real... the rolls were absolutely elite.

So I did take out... the pickup spot is behind the restaurant... clean and. Easy. The young man bringing out your order was super nice, and pleasant. And the food was good... not great but good for the price. I got the catfish 4 pieces the Mac n cheese was terrible basically they didn't take the time to stir it. The catfish absolutely is the star wish they had hush puppies. The mushrooms I tasted didn't hit the spot but were good. The bread and cinnamon butter ... oh boy yeah they start at a 3 with the bread and butter... the potato skins ummm I don't know super heavy and greasy but how do you complain it had bacon ...

New York Strip* Cheese Fries

Found a roach melted into my cheese fries. Not a joke. Also found a plastic steak marker still stuck under my steak. Had to drive back to get a refund and that was basically all they did. I've eaten here multiple times before, but after this disgusting experience I'll never be back. Makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like if THIS made it out to customers.

We had dinner at Texas Roadhouse in Chesapeake square on Sunday evening. It wasn't as busy as it normally was but still had a crowd. It was clean but the womens bathroom was very small, crowded, and a bit slippery. We were sat immediately. Nya was our server. She was absolutely amazing with her hospitality. She was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended a few options. Our food and drinks came out quickly. My prime rib was a bit more on the rare side but that was fine with me. The sweet potato was to die for. As always the Cesar salad had a lot of dressing but I think that's just the way it is at every location. My Jamaican cowboy drink was delicious but one was enough for me. We paid with the tablet at the table which was convenient. All in all I'll be back :)

We honestly had a great experience. I don't understand why the stars are really low. Our waitress she was amazing, the food was all fresh and hot. For having peanuts be some thing that is given out in this restaurant, the floors were significantly clean, and the bathrooms were well kept. The bathroom having a changing table was a plus. As you can see in my pictures, some of the food had already been eaten because it was so good, I almost forgot to take pictures. Prices weren't too bad either. We luckily had 2 veterans vouchers, which were given out on Veterans Day, to use for a different day, which we liked, so we didn't have to be involved in all the chaos. If you're looking for a good Texas roadhouse, this is the one to go to!

NY New York Strip*

The restaurant does not allow for reservations, but has a QR code and web-based waitlist available for same-day dining. Our party of 6 was able to be seated almost immediately. The rolls with cinnamon butter were a classic staple and didn't disappoint. I ordered the NY strip with a side of green beans and sweet potato. The green bean came with onion and pork, if Southern style is what you're looking for they did a good job with it. The steak was perfectly cooked to my medium rare order, and was adequate given the price point. Another diner ordered a baked potato on the side. Customer beware, the baked potato comes with a heaping pile of salt around the skin! Probably for aesthetic appeal, but no way you can expect to eat the potato skin. Overall, the service was great and the staff regularly checked on us to ensure we were satisfied. If you're looking for an elevated casual lunch or dinner spot, and you're not overly conscious of the nutritional content, you would be satisfied here.

Was craving the bread and butter. Waited roughly 10 minutes in a Friday evening. No complaints at all, food was good and service was great. Loved the local decor with the ODU sign as well.

Son's cheeseburger

This is normally where my daughter likes to spend her birthday because she can get a good steak. This is the first time in a long time that we have ever been so disappointed in Texas roadhouse first of all I understand the business game and that you need to make money, but there is a point where overcrowding is beyond it was to the point that I couldn't even eat my salad because the waitresses butt was so close to our table. That's all I saw. Let's not mention the fact that the salad was supposed to come with other things on it. That was missing. They never brought my son's girlfriend vegetables out until we asked Four to go containers. Normally Texas roadhouse sides are very well seasoned and very well handled everything that they brought out to us I was utterly disappointed we ordered appetizers and we got the combo plate. The buffalo chicken bites were dry. The alligator bites had more cheese and jalapeño, and whatever seasoning they've changed to for their fried pickles had more salt than a salt Mine Now let's move onto the entrées. My daughter asked for sauté shrimp came on a skewer over top of what we thought look like fried rice if Texas Roadhouse has gotten into the Asian market and start making fried rice. They have utterly failed. then there was the mac & cheese it had no flavor. It tasted like they took some Velveeta melted it down and added a block of Swiss and that was it very Bland My salad was missing onions and croutons so literally I just had lettuce, tomatoes and steak as you can see from the photos my son's cheeseburger look like well. It came from McDonald's just lean to the side no presentation no Care in the world the amount of people in there I would assume that the kitchen was rushed, no pride in their work no Care in the world. I felt like I was in the ER of restaurants where we are going to freedom and Street them. I struggle really hard to give it to three stars. The only reason why I gave it three stars is because the waitress was so nice very attentive and when she found out their food was missing items she assured us that she normally will run her own food so she can check and make sure everything is there, but I'm assuming because it was so overly packed she didn't have time to do that. Needless to say Texas roadhouse will no longer be on our list..

Rolllllllls

I'm not really a door dash or Uber Eats kinda girl cuz there so many things I don't like reheated or not piping hot (like French fries) but today I didn't feel like eating out or cooking. So I decided to order a family take out meal from Texas Roadhouse. I was a little skeptical but I was majorly surprised! I didn't do steak because I would have to be pretty desperate to get takeout steak but mainly because you could only order it medium or well done and I'm DEFINITELY not into that. So I got the chicken critter family meal. It comes with 24 critters, two sides, a giant salad and 12 rolls and butter. Plenty of food for 4 people. I just put in the time I wanted pickup, texted when I got there and they brought it out to me me within a minute of my arrival. Everything was piping hot and the critters were crispy. They didn't forget a thing and all in all it was an easy, tasty dinner. It was $44 which breaks down to $11 a person and I don't even know if I could get it that cheap at McDonalds anymore. Anyway, give it a try if you're so inclined! I thought it was as well worth it!X

Custom 32oz with a loaded baked potato.
Nicky T.

First time coming here. We've always avoided it because it's usually packed and loud. But today they weren't. Staff was very friendly and charismatic, and they all seemed to be having a good time. I picked out a custom 32oz with a Loaded Baked Potato and Caesar Salad. The steak and potato were absolutely killer! Perfectly cooked medium rare, juicy and tender. The potato was well balanced with the fixings and the skin had a rock salt crust on it, ooooh my God! Our server Jackie, was super sweet and took excellent care of us. I call this my redemption steak. As all the high-end steak houses in the area have let us down for birthdays, anniversaries etc. We will return. And if this kind of experience is consistent there I will update with a solid 5.

Time your visit well, and you'll be rewarded with a sunset that is nothing short of spectacular--an ideal backdrop for an already memorable dining experience. The restaurant strikes a rare balance: refined without being pretentious. The atmosphere leans toward fine dining, yet the dress code is refreshingly unforced. Jackets and ties coexist comfortably with shorts and flip-flops--a subtle nod to Chesapeake's "come as you are" sensibility. Whether you arrive by boat or by car, the experience begins the moment you step inside. We started with the ahi carpaccio and a classic Caesar salad--both fresh, well-composed, and thoughtfully prepared. For entrées, my wife chose the crab-stuffed shrimp, finished with a lemon-herb beurre blanc and accompanied by sautéed vegetables. It was an excellent dish--rich, balanced, and, notably, not shared. I opted for the 13-ounce New York strip with a garlic and herb demi-glace. Cooked to a precise medium-rare, the steak was properly seasoned and executed with confidence. In a moment of generosity, I offered a few bites across the table--well received, though her loyalty remained with her own selection. From the waterfront setting to the attentive service and well-crafted cuisine, Amber Lantern delivers a dining experience that feels both special and approachable. It's a place worth seeking out--and returning to.

It was very bland and the drinks were very bad as well The bartender did not know what she was doing. I had to return the drink twice. It was just a lemon drop pretty easy to make. I ended up exchanging it for a wine. My husband had a old-fashioned. It was very watered down and sweet. It's a shame it's a beautiful restaurant, but it's literally been a run by kids right now. They need a better management team in there to overlook everything. Everything got late to our table. It wasn't our waitress fault she was so apologetic. I really want more for this place. It's so pretty and it has a great view. I would recommend new management or manager and to upgrade the menu and train the bartenders . I feel bad leaving this review, but I just wish this restaurant the best !

We dined early, at 5:30 for our toddler and they happily and easily accommodated us at a nice, quiet corner booth with a booster seat. Our server was very friendly and mostly attentive - we did have to remind him of some things a few times but overall, he took good care of us. We decided to split several things: -Seasonal Salad - Caprese-style with a bed of spinach, tomato and mozzarella. Pretty light on the tomato and mozzarella cheese but good. -16oz. Sirloin cooked Pittsburg-style (extra char) -Collard Greens -Macaroni and Cheese add Lobster -Steak Fries -Steak bites and mashed potatoes for my 2-year old -Chocolate Mousse Cake and Coffees for table Everything was delicious. Pace was nice, salad and bread out quickly as well as my daughter's meal. The steak was excellent and perfectly cooked. Their collard greens were wonderful as well as the macaroni and cheese. Honestly, I loved everything about it. We will add this into the rotation for steakhouses when in the mood. Prices are very high on the meats - but, quality and execution was good. So booking a reservation for mother's day brunch was a no brainer for me and I was super excited. Upon arrival I was seated immediately. The service Kyle came over almost immediately and explained the mimosas. We received water and our drinks and then it was all downhill from there. We proceeded to sit and wait for 40 very long minutes for our food. This was supposed to be an "all you can eat" toppas type of situation. It made me wonder was this done by design to control the amount of food that was being served??? Idk? I will say that as I looked around this was happening to everyone not just my table. As previously mentioned I've been to this restaurant several times because the food is Always delicious and the service was 5 stars. The food was not good this time. We tried steak and eggs, Deviled eggs, French toast, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, crab cake with Hollandaise sauce and yogurt ,with berries and granola. The server didn't ask what temperature we wanted our steak. My steak was medium well and the other steak was rare. We weren't told it was over easy eggs. 1 of us would have preferred scrambled. The only thing I loved was the shrimp and grits and the yogurt and berries. I will also add that $50 was taken off the bill and they comped my drinks. This was greatly appreciated. Had this gesture been accompanied with a pleasant attitude it would have been greatly appreciated.

The restaurant was very colorful and vibrant and I loved all the Jamaican decor. The bar was just as packed and it took a while for someone to get us menus but after looking over the menu, we decided on the Brown Stew Chicken and the Curry Chicken. We also ordered Frozen Bob Marleys, which were very good. As we waited, we were able to hear the sounds of the band nearby and it made for a nice vibe. It took an hour for us to get our food but our server/bartender, Meka, was very sweet and apologetic. The Brown Stew Chicken was amazing! It was seasoned wonderfully and extremely flavorful. The Rice & Peas and Plantains were just as good. My daughter enjoyed her Curry Chicken as well. Neither one of us cared for the Mac & Cheese. Wednesdays are Groove on the Green, which is a free, Music Concert Series that Cutlass Grille hosts so I believe that's what caused it to be busy. Plus, we saw a few graduates out there as well having graduation dinners. Overall, I enjoyed my food but we definitely picked the wrong day to go. If I'm ever in the area, I would probably return in hopes for a better dining experience.

Founded in 1939 by Robert Steinhilber, its storied dining legacy is continued by his descendants. Located at the dead end of Thalia Road, the back of the restaurant has a gorgeous view of one of the tributaries at the end of the western branch of the historic Lynnhaven River. The restaurant is a wonderful place to bring visiting relatives and friends for an always fine dining experience. I wasn't surprised when my son made the choice of Steinhilbers for Mither's Day Brunch. What I was surprised by was that the restaurant, which offers only dinner, was actually serving a Mother's Day Brunch. When we arrived we were seated promptly at a table with a waterfront view. I mentioned to the hostess that throughout my Aunt's life, she had come every Friday. Timing was always when the restaurant opened, so she could get her favorite table. The hostess asked which had been her table. As I pointed it out, decades of family memories at the restaurant flooded through my mind. There was no doubt that we would order from the brunch menu. Only coffee had begun our day. We did begin with Oysters when we learned that they were Lynnhaven. The special taste & salinity of them is like no other. The Mother's Day Brunch menu featured 4 items. My son chose well. I didn't. His choice was the Soft-Shell Crab Benedict with Poached egg, crispy soft-shelled crab, Cajun hollandaise & home fries. Having been on an eating healthy and light regiment, I chose the Spinach and Mushroom Omelette with Cheddar Cheese & home fries. It was the first menu choice in 40 years that wasn't quality. The omelette was dry with the ends thin and overcooked. It was a disappointing menu item from a restaurant I've loved for decades. Of course I'll return. But I'll never again order an omelette at a special event brunch.

While we enjoyed certain aspects of the evening, particularly the vibe and atmosphere, the service was unfortunately lacking. We arrived around 7:30 PM without a reservation, were added to the waitlist, and were informed the wait would be approximately one hour. After waiting for over an hour, we checked in with the host, who was unfortunately dismissive, stating that we would receive a text when a table was ready. Ten minutes later, a manager suggested we order food to eat at the outdoor lobby tables. I ordered the happy hour portion of lamb chops, truffle fries and a side Caesar salad. While the truffle fries were good and the lamb chops were cooked to the correct temperature, the lamb unfortunately lacked seasoning, flavor and most importantly salt. The primary reason for my disappointment, however, was the communication regarding seating. We never received a follow-up text regarding a table. Furthermore, we later learned from another guest about available seating in the patio area, an option that was never mentioned to us by their staff. Additionally, I attempted to book a future reservation for another Wednesday evening between July 22nd and August 25th, but found no availability. This left me wondering if making a reservation for Wednesday night is even possible. I would consider returning if improvements are made to host communication and the seating process.
