Was craving a late night meal & had a craving for steak so took a shot at Texas Roadhouse. I'd like to give them more credit since I was ordering within the last hour (9:04p when they close at 10pm) but the quality of food wasn't as good as I remember it to be. I got the sirloin & ribs with an extra side of shrimp & their cheesecake - a really big craving. Steak was really chewy for a medium rare. Ribs were crunchy from being burnt - maybe they left it in the oven longer to seal flavor? Cheesecake was bland. Shrimp, bread rolls, & sides of green beans & steamed veggies were tasty. My text confirmation said my food would be ready by 9:40p so when I got there at 9:20p I killed some time at the Walmart next door. After that, parked in the designated spot & texted "here." First off, if you want to come here, clear your schedule for the afternoon. We made a reservation for our party of six for 1:35 and got in the door right around then. We looked a the menus (and I'm being generous) for about ten minutes, then ordered our food. It was after 2:45 before it reached our table, then after 3 by the time we ate it and got out of there. In what world is it acceptable to make customers wait that long for their orders? I understand the times, but the restaurant was well staffed to have people seated at every other table. Furthermore, we eat our steaks rare. I could've left at 2, went to Walmart, grabbed a pack of ribeyes, fired up the grill and been finished before this place. Steak house, huh? I don't recommend this location for a first date or a business meeting because you'll run out of stuff to talk about before the food reaches the table. Unless blank stares and stomach growling noises are your thing, go somewhere else. I love this chain and hate this location. Someone else can have my business next time we go out. I almost ordered a drink hoping that the buzz would ease my frustration. Oh wait, I'd probably have to wait fifteen minutes for that too. Apart from the extremely long wait times, the food is okay. It wasn't the best ribeye I've had in the area, but it wasn't the worst either. My wife's New York Strip, which to my understanding is a fairly lean cut of steak, was about 20% inedible hunk of fat. I visited on 10/22/23 with my family. While the food was well made, the floor was beyond filthy. Mess everywhere! The absolute only reason we stayed is because it was late on a Sunday night and nothing nearby was open and we were from out of town. The first thing we saw was the meat freezer with filth underneath: a shopping bag, the toilet tissue cardboard, napkins, etc. upon being seated, there was a whole hotdog bun, juice box, 5 straws, a menu, napkins, and just filth under our table. So a 30-40 minute wait turned into over 1 hour closer to 2. AND THE FOOD WASNT EVEN WORTH IT. My mother in law was served a RAW STEAK and wasn't feeling too great the rest of the night. I was super excited to go to Texas Roadhouse being from Texas and this is a popular spot to eat at back home. There was about an hour and a half wait so my party put our name on the wait list online and got a text when to come in. When we walked in the hostess at the stand was pretty rude and we still waited to be seated after we were told it was ready. When we were seated our waitress came up immediately and she was super nice and came to check on us and bring refills without us asking. When we had put in our order we waited about 45 minutes for our food, luckily we had a lot of the complimentary bread to hold us over. Only problem we had was that one of us had a "dirty" glass of water, it seemed like the soap they used didn't rinse well, but not sure. A few of the guys enjoyed the chili that they ordered some for the next day, since we was out here for training, they just warmed it up in their room. The table next to me that arrive after mine got their food before me and left before. The last time I visited this location I ordered their ribs (I like their ribs, they've always been fall off the bone delicious) but the ribs they served me could not even be separated with a fork. I told the waiter, he apologized, took my plate returning a few minutes later with my plate with the exact rack of ribs on it. (Typically a manager would bring the plate with the corrected order). Waiter waited as I tried the ribs again and nothing was different. (why would it be?) Waiter offered to put in an entire new order but by this time my husband was nearly done with his dinner. I declined, told him to charge me for the sides I ate and take my ribs off the bill. Fast forward to 8/5/2023 My husband really wanted to go to Texas Road House so we went back. I didn't want to order steak (not my thing) and I didn't want to take a chance with the ribs again so I ordered Boneless Buffalo Wings, who screws up Boneless Buffalo Wings???? I'll tell you who, Texas Road House at Sam's Circle in Chesapeake, VA! If you want a really nice night out, and good food, you'll want to pass on Texas Road House. For the first time ever I decided to go to this establishment for takeout. I decided to get a blooming cactus, a pulled pork sandwich with the fries exchanged for a loaded potato. I also ordered strawberry cheesecake. So, I didn't get any dipping sauce for the blooming cactus and also received a baked potato with a bunch of salt on it but it wasn't split, no butter, and it wasn't loaded. The potato is inedible because there was too much salt on it and some of the salt leaked onto my sandwich so I had to scrape some of that off as well. I went with my roommate who ordered food as well and he didn't get a loaded baked potato either and also didn't receive dipping sauces and salad dressing. Would I return again? Maybe not unless I'm eating inside because this was not an ideal experience. It was my idea to go here tonight, I wish I had just made my meatloaf and homemade mac and cheese instead. They do things big in Texas. You would think with all the Texas Roadhouses I've been to I would be tired of this place.....NOT!!!! When I found out there was one close by the hotel, I ran back to my room to grab the car keys. By the time I reach my destination, I had a huge appetite. I was lucky there wasn't a line (it seems there's always one when I'm there) and the restaurant was packed but I got a seat close to the bar. What is up with people putting sailors close to the bar?!? When you picture a roadhouse this come to mind. All wood with plenty of seats and plenty of activity. Servers running back and forth with large plates of food. And plenty of happy people talking. My server Tali quickly welcomed me and took my order. I knew exactly what I wanted, bone in ribeye cooked med rare. When she asked for the sides, I just asked her to surprise me. Remember to trust your server unless they own the restaurant, then it conflicting interests. While I was waiting for my meal, Tali found some time to talk. We made small talk and it always a pleasure to for me to met nice people like her. And she quickly became my BFF when she brought the food. The sides she got me were mixed veggies and rice pilaf. Veggies nice and crisp and vibrant colors. Rice pilaf average but that didn't matter because the Star was the steak. You know how you enjoy a moment and time just slow down. Well here time stopped for me. I'm not going to describe how tender it was. How beautifully cooked to perfection it was. I'm not going to say how savory it was. I'm just going to say nothing because words won't do it justice. Usually I would make a wise crack comment about reading another one of my reviews for comparison but right now nothing comes close to them. Overall five stars. The hubs and I have been here a few times. The food here is somewhat decent for a chain. The bread and cinnamon butter that are served before the meal is delicious and probably the best thing they serve here, but I'm sure I could whip that up at home myself. I've mostly had ribs here. They're pretty good. I once had the country fried chicken. It was definitely frozen, precooked and breaded chicken that was reheated. The gravy was tasteless. I've always gotten corn and applesauce here to help offset other calorie intake, but of course those are from a jar/can. Last time we went here was during the holidays. First thing we saw when we walked in was a sign taped to the door that said, "Please don't touch the decorations! We worked on hard on them!" Really? Is that necessary? Then we walked up to the hostess stand, where it was plastered again. Then we went over to the waiting area where there was ANOTHER one taped to the wall. Apparently, to them, it was necessary.
