Two sides come with each entree - one can be more or less healthy with one's choices! I'm on the slow carb diet so did a salad and mixed veggies. It's hit or miss. If you're in the mood for loud fun, and messy no nonesense food then this is the place. The steaks are always just so-so, and out of ten visits when Pat is on the grille something always has to be sent back. it's a lot of food, and really heavy stuff. The flavor is good, not great. You come to to Texas Roadhouse for the atmosphere and the attentive staff gives you plenty of it. My favorites are the Smokehouse Burger, Chicken Critters, and the loaded sweet potato. This is my go to place for steak. It's always cooked to perfection, seasoned just right and so delicious. The loaded baked potato is amazing with it's salted skin, bacon ,cheese and sour cream , the ribs are so tender they fall off the bone, their salad is my all time favorite, it's served extremely cold with eggs, croutons & tomatoes. Wednesday 8/25, to-go order has taken an extra 40 minutes on top of already waiting 30 minutes due to missing 2 kids meals and all the sides to all the other meals . 4 containers placed upside down with potatoes all over the place and no drinks made so back in line I go. Imagine Coyote Ugly... but the girls aren't scantilly clad, and they're eye-to-eye level on a peanut shell covered floor rather than arse-to-eye level on a bar... The Devil Went Down to Georgia playing on the JukeBox, and the waitresses line dance down the aisles in unison. Pretty cool, but a fire hazard I'm sure. Texas Roadhouse, despite the blaring loud country music, has a good (not awesome, not bad... just good) atmosphere... although the 8 foot tall painting of a Native American's face at the front of the restaurant lends itself to feelings of confusion and irony... Texas Roadhouse invokes feelings of "cowboy"... cowboys vs. indians... yet there's this homage to an indian... strange to say the least. The positives: The rolls and butter are awesome as always. They're the highlight of the visit. The strawberry lemonade was the best I've ever had. The ceasar salad was great but seems they've cut back in the size. The mashed potatoes were unbelievably great and the side a shrimp was delicious. The negative: The prime rib was disgusting. It looked like ham and tasted like bologna. It was supposed to be medium rare but it was dry as a bone. Forgive me but when I order steak or buy steak I ALWAYS see marbling. This was a solid slab of pink (like I said ham). No marbling no juices. It was not good at all. Since we filled up on salad, bread and sides I didn't bother asking for it to be removed from the bill. I've also had 2 or 3 bad experiences with their prime rib in the past and should have known better. The rib eye had become my favorite and I should've ordered that. It was disappointing since we haven't been there in over a year. To be honest, I'm no chef and I make a better steak than this prime rib. I won't order it again. read more

I've been to many steak houses before but none of them can beat the food and fast service at Texas Roadhouse. The steaks are fantastic and the meals (for the kids) always fill their tummies. I like their Margaritas but they could use a tad more alcohol. They are a bit watered down at times. Prepare yourself for a country style environment with peanut shells purposely strewn all over the floors. The waiters and waitresses will perform a country dance every hour at the center of the restaurant. Okay lets just say that the Ribs here beat all other rib places around, forget Chili's. 99's and any other place around. My wife and I love it here cause out 14 month old twins can make a mess. With all of the peanut sheels on the ground no one even looks.. Also got to love the rolls with the cinnamin butter spread yum... I wish I could write reviews as eloquently as others, but I can't, so I'll give you the breakdown! Saturday night, quoted 1 1/2 hours and it ended up being 50 minutes. No big deal, but don't they wonder how many people they're displacing? Went to bar for a beer...icy cold and friendly service! Went to bathroom....an emplyoee was smoking in the bathroom. Without getting into details, it was bltantly obvious SHE was smoking, but when I commented she told me she was going to report that "someone was smoking in the bathroom. Returned to bar, had a sip left in my beer...not much, but not empty. The bartender threw it away as I was trying to get her attention, but she was talking to another bartender and not paying attention to me. When I pointed it out to her she told me it was empty because she had looked. The humor in this? When I then asked her for another one she gave me a Coors Light. When I told her it was actually a Miller Lite she looked annoyed. Really, she looked at the beer she threw out? Oh well. We sat down and yes, it was as loud as everyone says, but we have been before and get it and think it's fine. Our waitress was sweet but seemed to want to not take ownership of anything. We ordered the onion with extra sauce. Got it, half way through she came back to check on us and when we asked for more sauce she said she didn't ring it in becuase she just wanted to get us our onion quickly and didn't want to bother the kitchen???? Then when one of our beers didn't come she said it was because they thought they were out of BUD!!!!!!! but that they were checking. Maybe she forgot that we had been in the bar for almost an hour and had seen the beers stocked beautifully for that whole time?? Anyway, we eventually got that beer. When we got a 1/3 rack and 1/2 rack of ribs and the 1/2 was smaller than the 1/3 she blamed the kitchen, yet brought more to make up for it. Once we finished eating and she came to remove our plates she asked me if I was the one who caught someone doing something in the bathroom that they shouldn't have. Who asks that? Who admits that they know that an EMPLOYEE was smoking in a 3-stall bathroom!!??? When we got the check a beer I had ordered and never received was on the check...oh, it was because she had asked someone else to bring it and they never had. Then she came with the beer before the check with the beer removed (my husband had already gone out to get the car!!!!) and I told her I didn't want it. She was surprised!!!! When she came with the check she was uncertain if they had removed the beer or not but "it's no longer on the check, so I guess they did". My wife and I stopped in, both craving steak. We've been to this Texas Roadhouse in the past, and we're pleased. They did not disappoint us on this visit either. We were immediately served soft, warm, fresh rolls with a flavored butter which we devoured in record time and were immediately offered more, which we accepted. Nice start. My wife had the 12oz ribeye while I went with the 16oz prime rib. Both were cooked as requested, medium rare. With two sides, she went with the caesar salad and mashed potatoes while I went with the simple garden salad with blue cheese dressing and a baked potato. My wife enjoyed her steak and real mashed potatoes, and came away wishing she ordered the next steak size up. My salad was served chilled, and the blue cheese dressing was very chunky and flavorful. I don't eat potatoes much anymore, and miss them terribly :) So it was important that the baked potato did not disappoint. It didn't. Nice and hot, swimming in butter, cooked perfectly throughout. I was happy. The star of the show, the prime rib, was cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth delicious, and very nicely seasoned. We both really enjoyed our steaks. Our server was terrific, very cordial, and always there when we needed him. I will not say that these were the best steaks we've ever had. But if you were to ask me to pick my favorite of the area steak chains based on taste, value, and over all dining experience, Texas Roadhouse wins. read more

Very disappointed 3x in a row that I take my girlfriend here and her ribs were all burnt, tough, and chewy she literally left 3/4 of it without eating (got a sidekick of ribs for me and was just as bad) Had to eat it though because they messed my steak up so ate the ribs while they were fixing the steak... my steak was a New York strip 12oz I asked for it well done came out very pink asked for new one and they brought me same one STILL undercooked with pink all over... at that point I said ima just shut up and eat it because I have no time to argue... but this is the last time I will ever go to txrh Methuen will try another location but they have to really nail it for me to be satisfied ... don't bring your hard earned money here they have no intention on making your dining experience special so sad this place has gone to shambles read more

This is a great place to have dinner. The dress is very casual and the steaks are very good, Upon entering you are asked if you wish to pick your steak out that you want cooked. When being brought to your table the hostess is bringing sweet rolls and sweet butter, no place else have I ever tasted butter like that. I had the 11 oz. sirloin steak that was cooked to perfection, mashed potatoes, and baked beans. The baked beans had a smoked hickory taste to them. The dessert was apple pie a'la mode. We had a waitress name Amy who could not have been nicer or more attentive. She made a great meal even better.My dining partner had the same meal with different sides which was also very good. 5 stars?! For a chain restaurant?! Absolutely!! You cannot go wrong with Texas Roadhouse if you love barbecue type food. This is my go to place when going out for a casual dinner. Everyone knows how great the buns are, of course, but I want to recommend the fried pickles!!! Perfectly fried and just enough of them, make sure you ask for the blossom sauce to dip them in! I'm always getting steak there but when I'm feeling crazy the pulled pork is delicious as well! Don't forget to get one of their giant drinks! First off, I was deeply disturbed to find that Patrick Swayze was not here and no brawls broke out (kidding, kidding). I've driven by here so many times and this time decided to stop as my mother was, "delirious with hunger" and who doesn't like a good steak? Very busy place but we were seated quickly. I like that you have the option to pick out your steak before being seated, but we passed on that. Nice bread with a sweet butter. There's a bucket of peanuts and an empty bucket for the shells on your table. Judging from the floors, most people were just throwing the shells on the floor (similar to the Ground Round back in the day). Our server was Carlos and he was very nice. Explained the menu and so many options and checked on us quite a bit during the meal. I went with a peach drink and my mother tried the sweet tea. She was hungry so we went with an appetizer. First mistake there. We ordered the cheesy fries. They had a microwaved top of cheese with bacon in it sitting on top of incredibly salty fries with I think a ranch dip. The dip was tasty but the salt was overwhelming and the reach was kind of gross. For meals, we both went with medium done prime rib. Stupidly said yes to the smother portion (it's not free and it really takes away from the meat). For sides, I went with buttered corn and mixed veggies while my mother got a baked potato and green beans. If you are watching your salt intake, do not come here. It's everywhere. The meat was salty. The mushrooms and onions were salty. The green beans had bacon mixed in. Yuck. That was not on the menu and was not a nice surprise. The baked potato had a thick layer of salt caking the outside. Again, yuck. Not mentioned on the menu. The corn was as expected. The mixed veggies (which were carrots and broccoli) were absolutely smothered in a cup of butter. And they tasted salty. I don't know how you'd eat here if you had to avoid salt because I think everything but the nuts is probably salty. Took awhile for the bill. Another waitress finally delivered it. We left full and with boxes of left-overs (and the steak tasted great) but also felt a bit meh after all that salt. I don't think I'd go again as the salt levels were just too high. read more

Been here more than a dozen times. Average place/chain. Good food and drinks. Steaks are fair priced and the apps are good. Cheap draft beer which is nice! Love the complementary bread and butter. As a note I hate how the waiters/waitresses have to tell me about the famous margaritas and steaks when I have said I have been here many times. I also hate how they force you to add every single extra to your meal/sides for extra cost of course. Its not their fault its the chains policy. I say no to it just in spite since it is so annoying. Don't get filled up on them though because you'll want to save room for your entre. Although famous for their steaks and ribs, this chain restaurant offers up a pretty tasty fried catfish. Not greasy and cooked to a perfect crisp, the lightly breaded catfish hit the spot. Served with a choice of two sides, you'll be sure to satisfy your hunger. Side options include house/Caesar salad, cup of chili, mashed/baked potatoes, seasoned rice, steak fries, veggies, and baked beans. The cup of chili had a kick to it which I liked, but it was all beans. (not a bean lover!) The atmosphere is a bit corny and very loud. Peanut shells cover the floor. The wait staff consists of mostly teenagers. Jennifer was friendly and attentive. She checked on us and brought refills. If you're "lucky", you'll catch a dance performance by the waitresses. Also, don't get alarmed if you hear a bunch of Yee-ha's because that signals someone's birthday. Be sure to call ahead or be prepared to wait even on weeknights. This place is always busy. read more

Okay let's get it out first that I do not eat red meat, yet I love this place. How? Well they have a great atmosphere, which at first glance is cramped and a bit homely but when you get into the restaurant and meet the staff they are amazing as is the food. The peanut buckets and warm bread make for enough food and fun to start. Who doesn't like throwing peanut shells on the floor? I mean seriously. And CINNABUTTER! YUMMO! The shrimp dish is amazing, the mashed potatoes are to die for, the loaded fries are a meal in itself, the fried catfish was such a nice surprise---both sweet and salty and cooked just right. Portions? Well the kids' mac and cheese was a giant bowl, everything could easily feed at least two people with no problem. Somehow my husband can polish off a full rack of ribs and still eat a ton of the bread. The drinks? O so good. I recommend the Cowgirl Quencher. And take advantage of the Call Ahead Seating. Tasty food, delicious rolls with sweetened butter, large portions ... not the place to stick to a diet. A few drawbacks: Noisy. Crowded. Can be a long wait to be seated (due to its popularity). A tiny bit on the pricey side, maybe. It can be tough to get into (somewhat difficult left turn on busy route 28 takes you into the adjoining plaza's parking lot, then you follow a circuitous ramp to the TR lot). A test of Massachusetts-driver bona fides, for sure. Many reviewers have made most of the salient points before but here are two more: 1. Probably the best experience at a family-fare/steakhouse chain you'll find, in terms of quality and selection. 2. The bar in the Methuen store, anyway, is jamming at all times. That is, it's always crowded and always happening, with fun and attractive bartenders doing things right. Excellent (but, again, tiny bit pricey) margaritas. Tough to have a bad time there, but the closer you sit to the bar, the better it is. Lots of TVs for game-watching, also. Well, my girlfriend recommended this place for her Birthday. She said they have good steak. When we walked in and was ready to get seated by a hostess I saw on the back of her shirt and it says " I Love My Job", so I asked her if she really loves her job. She stated, no it's all a lie. This makes me question as to why you would make your employees where these shirts, and pretty much forcing them to love there job. And say it. Ok, let's continue. First of all I have to say our waitress "named Allie" is amazing. She is the most caring and funny waitress I have been around. I ordered the 20 oz sirloin with sautéed mushrooms and French fries. My girlfriend ordered the 6 oz sirloin and shrimp combo, with veggies and smashed potatoes. Now time to try the food. I always like my steak cooked "medium well". Oh my god, it was cooked just the way I like it. And my girlfriends was cooked the same as well. Well done to the cooks in the kitchen. We have always enjoyed the TR, but don't get there often. We visited Methuen last night, and everything was outstanding! Our server Kalei was on point, gracious and friendly. She was one of the best servers we have had in recent memory. We started with boneless buffalo wings, delicious and homemade, although the order was pretty small. The bacon and cheese fries were excellent, steak cut fries, and plenty of cheese and bacon. The fries remained crispy and our table loved them. Next were the salads. My house salad was made without egg as ordered and my husband's caesar was perfect. The rolls were soft, homemade deliciousness as usual, and Kalei made sure they got refilled when our basket was empty. My 11 oz choice sirloin was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My husband had the country fried chicken and my daughter the older kid's meal. Both were hot and tasty. Kalei remembered my husband's request for extra country gravy and my daughter's brown gravy instead of dipping sauce for her chicken. Everything was perfect, and although we visit all types of restaurants, we hope people continue to give TR a try and not just dismiss it as "another chain". Absolutely terrible! Our orders were incorrect, the food was awful, and the staff didn't seem to care that they kept messing up. I didn't want to send my food back a second time because I actually got the impression that they would have just dropped it on the floor and reserved it to me. Definitely high on our list of good places to eat! The food is reliably good and sometimes great, including the rolls with cinnamon butter, which are gorge-worthy. My 8 year old son is pretty fussy and he's never had a complaint about the food. We've never had anything but good-to-excellent service. That said, it's not a place that allows for much conversation, because the music can be VERY loud depending on where you're seated. Personally, I find the peanut shells on the floor tiresome and gimmicky (in a not-good way) but I know plenty of people like the casual, relaxed atmosphere. I don't know what's going on but in all the years I've been going there I've never sent anything back for being under/overcooked. My last 2 visits (2 months ago and tonight) in a row resulted in an overcooked ribeye and undercooked filet. The filet was on a salad, which means somebody actually sliced it, saw raw, translucent meat and still sent it out. The manager took it off the bill and brought a new salad, even though I told them "no thank you" which my friend brought home but I'm unfortunately gonna hafta rethink going back for a third strike.
