Tony and his team is the best! TFF replaced our old AC unit, furnace and ductwork awhile back and it's still working great. The best thing about Tony is that he is so easy to work with. It was hot on a Saturday so I turned on the air conditioner for the first time this summer season. Lo and behold, it didn't work. I called up Tony as he originally installed my system. What a refreshing difference from some other vendors in the area who we had bad service from before. Our house gave off carbon monoxide alarm, so we asked Tony from TFF HVAC to take a look to see if it was a problem with our heating system. Tony arrived early to the appointment. Looked at the heating system, and said there was no problem. As such, he said, he wouldn't charge us for his service. A few months ago, the fuse blew in my furnace while I was switching out my old thermostats with new Ecobee thermostats. I didn't even know what a furnace was at that time. Eventually, I figured out how to replace the fuse myself and the system started working (AC worked). I didn't try turning on the heat at the time since it was still summer. A few days ago, I tried turning on the heat and realized it wasn't working. After spending hours on YouTube and Google, I narrowed it down to the fact the gas wasn't coming out. I noticed the gas valve had an On/Off label but I was dumb. I kept trying to push it in like a button so obviously nothing happened. I took a video and contacted Tony at TFF HVAC. Late at night, he took a look at my video and noticed the gas valve switch was in the OFF position and called me right back. I felt dumb for not catching that the first time. I went back and FLIPPED the switch and the furnace/heat is working again. This Yelp review is to let people know that Tony is a good guy and was very responsive. I called them when I reached a point of desperation. 3 other technicians had come out to try fixing my AC unit, all had failed. One even recommended I spend $6k+ on a new compressor. Heidi's communication was top notch, as was Tony's. She emailed me back setting clear, upfront expectations on their general availability and the approximate day I would likely get a call back. Every email I sent, she responded to nearly immediately. Absolutely incredible. And then, lo and behold, Tony called me AFTER 8PM a couple days earlier than expected! Not only did Tony call me back late (presumably after his last appointment), but he spent time on the phone understanding my problem. He wasn't rushed to book an appointment, take my money, and be done with me. He spent time to hear the issues, and then he came back with a couple suggestions on what the problem could be. For one of the potential issues, he walked me through very carefully how I could test for and fix the problem. This was all well after 8pm, and he did this even though I wouldn't need him to come out if my problem was fixed. I normally don't give 5 stars unless I have more experience with the entity I'm reviewing and thus, 4 stars is as good as it gets from me on first contact. When I first called Tony, he said he's going to send his staff over. I became a little concern after reading some of the negative reviews. I hope the staff knows what he's doing. On the day of the appointment, Jason showed up right on time. He was friendly and he started working after I explained the issues to him. I don't know anything about HVAC so he tried to explain to me what the issues were. According to Jason, my 4 years old house was installed with the wrong furnace. It was too powerful for the square footage it covers along with the zoning set up. So he gave me some advice on how to minimize the negative impact of the mistake. He went on and fix the second issues that I have which was the second furnace unit I have upstairs. He found couple of problem that wasn't really the problem I called for and he was also able to take care of the problem at the spot. One of the problems I was concerned was the air flow. He identified the problem and corrected it. However, I felt that the improvement of the airflow was not the most satisfactory. He then continued to work with his partner Angel to make some adjustments until the airflow got reasonably stronger. Angel also identified a few installation issues and they took some photos and explained to me. This review is not to determine if TFF offers good price cause I didn't call around to check. I was concerned at first because they do charge to come out and there wasn't "free estimate". I have to trust that the positive reviews the other have written were reasonable and true. I have to say I'm quite happy with the diligent work they've done and rather pleased with the result. In regards to cost, Jason came out to work for about 3 hours. While, Angel joined him later and spent about an hour. Along with parts and labor, it costs me $640. Everyone situation is different. I would hope it will cost less but as I said, I'm happy with the result and they did say they guarantee their works. I have to say I'm pleased with TFF. read more

Tony worked on my HVAC in 2009, he added AC to my existing system and made it dual zone, one zone for the each floor. He also added a eletroestatic filter to the system. Tony and his team rock. This is the second time we used them to install a furnace. In 2012 they installed a furnace for our downstairs and a different one recently for the add-on to our second story. I rated Tony 5 stars then and get gets the same rating again. The key thing about Tony is he really gets the customer and customer needs. He goes so far over and above and doesn't nickle and dime you. For instance, while opening a wall for running the AC system he found out of code electrical connections and his team repaired those, no worries. He also had to extra work around location of my AC unit and had to relocate a gate and again now worries. His team is friendly and they work so hard. I live in Milpitas. My house AC went out on June when our area temp want up to hi 90. There was even power outages in our area and everyone I called was booked till July. I contacted TFF because my heater all of sudden stopped working right before Thanksgiving. We knew it was going to take a few weeks or more for anyone to make a visit since the first two places we contacted didn't have availability until the end of December! Called TFF and was relieved when Tony said he could come out the first week in December. He mentioned his prices during the call so there wouldn't be an surprises. His cost for a visit was the same as the other two HVAC I called earlier. Besides the visit, there would be charges for parts and if needed, a return visit. We had asbestos all over our ducts and needed it removed before all the ducts could be replaced. Tony from TFF HVAC was super personable and professional. He gave us a reasonable quote and even told us he'd repair the electrical board issue with our furnace free of charge. In total, it was a two day job (one to remove the asbestos and one to replace the ducts). How do you give a 5 star rating to a company you never hired? When you call to schedule an appointment and the owner takes the call and resolves your issue on the phone for free! I called to schedule maintenance on my house furnace. The owner asked about my furnace and filters and how often I cleaned the filters. I said I clean the filters once every 4-8 weeks. He then said he would be glad to take my money but said there was not much he could do beyond what I do cleaning the filters. He then suggested I call PGE to schedule a free safety check. Wow! Seriously how often does that happen. Either the guy is too busy or too honest. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and call him when I really need help. read more

We have been very happy with the Carrier Furnace and AC unit, model 24ACB7 that Tony installed in 2019. 3+ years of operation and no problems at all. Recently we had a small fire outside the house next to the unit. I had one of my furnaces in my house decide to have the blower run continuously sometime Friday night / Saturday morning. The issue was that it was blowing cold air and the outside temps that evening were in the low 40's. I decided to live without the heater over the weekend and also to not make any calls to find a repair person until Monday morning. My first call on Monday was to TFF based on YELP reviews, both positive and the one recent negative one review. Two calls went unreturned on Monday. Although the other 3 firms I called didn't return my calls either on Monday. My first call to TFF on Tuesday around 1045a was promptly answered by Tony and greeted by an apology for not getting back to me on Monday. I liked that Tony remembered that I had called twice on Monday without me reminding him. I explained the problem with the furnace to Tony and informed him that I thought it was a bad controller board. Tony concurred and asked if I knew the make of the furnace. I will admit that I had not checked before calling anyone as to the make. Leave it up to a very bust weekend on my part. Tony informed me that he most likely had a replacement board with him. However if he didn't have the correct board it would become a two visit repair. He explained that is labor rate was $90/hr which I felt was fair. He also explained based on the age of my furnace that the board would most likely be $60. We agreed to a time, 100p the same day to meet at my house. When I arrived at 1255p, Tony was already there. I was greeted professionally by Tony when he introduced himself, along with him handing me one of his business cards. We proceeded into the house and I showed Tony the unit in question. Within seconds of me demonstrating the problem, Tony remove the covers from the furnace and had diagnosed the problem to a stuck relay on the control board. Tony also preformed a few additional tests to make sure that I had no other issues with the furnace before he started the repairs. He then informed me that he did have the board required on his truck. He then went back through the cost of repairs with me and I agreed to the repair. After making the repair he then tested the furnace to make sure that it was operating properly. After checking the furnace he also verified that the air conditioner attached to the furnace was functioning properly too. Overall I am very pleased with Tony and the work he preformed. While he was at my house and working on the repairs he phone was ringing non stop. After seeing how busy his phone was while he was at my house and talking to him about the number of calls he received during the 40 minutes he was at my house, I would say it is fair to have to wait a day to a day and a half for him, or for that matter anyone else that is rated well here at YELP for furnace or air conditioning repair to get back to you. While Tony was doing the repair to my furnace, the other firms I called on Monday were calling me back. From talking to Tony while he was doing the repairs, I would say that he is extremely knowledgeable about his trade. He is the real deal and I will be calling him back in the future should I have any other furnace or air conditioning needs. read more

We did the whole range with TFF - install A/C, replace our old furnace, and asbestos removal plus all-new ductwork and new vents. Simply put, Tony, Heidi, and their crew set the gold standard for a 5-star contractor. Heidi was SUPER communicative and responsive throughout from the initial quote all the way until post-inspection. Tony is super knowledgeable, and gave me all the right information during the initial walkthrough, gave me a super detailed quote, and helped me understand all the details! After that, Heidi coordinated the asbestos removal process, gave me all the details for the main installation days, and advised me on the permitting process, etc. During the actual installation, Angel and the crew were very professional, courteous, passionate, and friendly! They did everything with a smile, are detail-oriented, and given the fairly invasive nature of this job, they were always super careful to lay down protective layers to keep any mess contained, and always cleaned up after themselves. The crew was on time every day, arriving bright and early with smiles on their faces, rested when they needed to, and always headed home with those smiles. I have never dealt with a more pleasant contractor in my life, all through the process, and that makes all the difference. We got a new in-attic heating installed back in February by TFF. This was all new ducting and a new furnace and they did the job in 2 days. Update: Owner did reply to me eventually. I will add back a star. I hope they consider offering their customers options. Carrier's parent company owns at least three other brands. Original: These guys get my honest award. They offer me a quote with the proper size system for my home. A 70K BTU unit at 80% efficiency or a 60K unit at 95% efficiency. They are the only one that actually downsized the system as the efficiency went up. Kudos. I like the fact that the owner actually answers and I can communicate with him through text. Minus one point because the owner is so busy that he never really gets back to me until I bug him him with multiple texts. My last request to modify my proposal to leave my system in the garage was never answered. Minus one point. Like the other highly rated HVAC companies, they are a one brand dealer. They carry Carrier, and that's the option they push. They get discounts by being a one brand dealer, higher margin as they sell in volume. Do they pass the savings on to the customer? Nope. That's a problem. Minus one other point. I wouldn't hesitate to call these guys for repairs as they seem very honest. However, since they're not interested in offering options, as they push only one brand, it's hard to go with them. read more
