Our food was ready in under 5 minutes, which I think reflects the shoddy ethic behind this local Thai place. I had pork fried rice, and the rice was old, and colored orange. I read the reviews here and decided to check it out. The yelpers were right! The place is a good place to dine. I got red curry from the lunch menu. It was delicious, but it could've been more spicy. That was somewhat remedied when I put a ton of peppers. The lunch portion got me full. My sister ordered the basil chicken which was yummy. The service from the waitress was excellent. I have been to Thai BBQ once and it was okay. Nothing exciting. I tried to order delivery tonight and it was ridiculous. Let me break it down for you. 1. They have two phone numbers. I called the first one and it rang until my phone, smarter than I am, hung up. I called again, same results. I called the second number, someone picked up and said something inaudible and then hung up on me. I called the first number again and finally someone was ready to take my order. 2. I say I want to order for delivery and the woman tells me it's an hour wait and asks if this is okay. I'm tired, already in my PJs so I say sure. It was almost like she was trying to scare me off. 3. I place my order of an appetizer and an entree, bringing my total to about $15. Already pricey if you ask me, but what're you gonna do? I tell her I'd like to pay with my credit card and she says there's a TWENTY DOLLAR MINIMUM. That's RETARDED. And it doesn't make sense to me because when I went the last time and picked up my food at their dingy little restaurant, I paid with a card and it was the exact same order. In summation, this place has shitty business practices and there's better Thai food out there. It's a little far but check out The Thai Place in Cypress (I reviewed that one, too). I've heard great things about this place, but never got a chance to try it. Finally, sometime last week, I was given the opportunity! At first I thought we stumbled into a fast food joint because it looked like an old Taco Bell that I used to go to back in Washington and had to double check to make sure that I was in the right place. I got up to the counter because I didn't know if I was supposed to seat myself or not and it being so similar to Taco Bell, I thought I was supposed to place my order at the counter. A voice from the back asked, "for here or to go?". "For here, please!" So she told us to have a seat... and we did! The menu would have been better off with pictures, but then again... all menus are better with pictures. There were lunch specials for only $5.95 or something like that. Of course, I went with the Thai Chicken Curry... and it was DELICIOUS! The serving was kind of small, but then again, it was a lunch special and I shouldn't be eating too much anyway. Staff is very friendly (Sammy is amazing!) and attentive, but the decor and ambiance leaves little to be desired. Stick with the BBQ chicken and spareribs w/ extra chilli sauce on the side, and you won't be disappointed. Portions are generous and come with shrimp fried rice. Stay away from the tom yum soup. Unlike typical tom yum soups, somehow their broth had a very fishy after taste and very bare basic ingredients. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Long Beach. They have the best coconut soup. I order mine with tofu instead of chicken and extra mushrooms. Their classic Thai BBQ chicken is delicious. Every time I order it the chicken is tender is succulent. No sauce needed, but the sauce is a bonus. I accompany it with a side of brown rice with a Thai Tea on the side. Too bad they don't offer boba here. Their Pad Thai is okay. I usually order a half sized portion when I'm not in the mood for meat. I'll get veggie or shrimp depending on how I'm feeling. Parking is a breeze. There's a lot right in front of the business. There is plenty of seating and a magnificent fish aquarium in the middle of the restaurant. I wish the seats were a bit comfier, but the food and service are so great that I can deal with a sore bum when I finally leave(lol). There are restrooms to your right in the corner as soon as you walk in. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. They greet you with a smile and welcome you immediately. The only complaint I have is their $10 minimum to use my debit card. I don't want to worry about stopping at the atm if I'm in the neighborhood and craving a Thai Tea. I order from this place regularly so I don't update my review much, but I think they got a new chef or something because tonight was AMAZING. Pad thai was different, thinner noodles and not greasy at ALL. You know how you order pad thai and the bottom the container is always greasy? It wasn't at all. It tasted perfect, peanut-y but not greasy. Just, yum. My partner's pinapple curry was the usual with an extra spicy touch that she loved. The egg rolls were different but neither of us could say why, but they were great (the sauce they serve it with is delicious too). They were good, nothing amazing, but good. We ordered two dishes and split them. We got Panang, a red curry dish ($7.50) and Thai Chow Mein ($6.95). Panang is one of my favorite Thai dishes and I have only ever had Chinese Chow Mein. I don't really care for Chinese Chow Mein so I wasn't too excited about getting Thai Chow Mein. Boy was I surprised! It was soooooooo good! I enjoed the Chow Mein more than the Panang, but it was probably due to it being surprisingly good and new to me. One of my best friends turned me on to this place almost a decade ago. It was GREAT! I'm happy to report that in '06, this place has not changed one bit. Great food, great service and the people are so friendly! My faves: "wings of angel", bbq spareribs, glass noodles, pad thai... I ordered party platters for my friend's birthday party and everybody loved them! A neighborhood restaurant worth going to - again and again.... P.S. My partner swore up and down that this place did not exist. He drove by the restaurant twice a day for the last year and a half. Didn't notice it until I brought him there one night. I am not a chronic Thai Food person so, the mood has to hit me 2-3 days before so I can obsess on it! I've come here several times and mostly for the convieniance (because it is a short trip up the street). I will say it isn't generic and it isn't wowish. However, this time being somewhere in the middle is a good thing. Yes, a VERY good thing! I first tried the Chow Mein with Chicken and the Spring Rolls. The dipping sauce was just as good as the dipping sauce at The Bicycle Club casino I ised to go to when I would get their Vietnamise Egg Rolls. Also, this is usually always my main stay order because it's easy and fills me up. Today I ordered the Pad See Ew (flat glass noodles and Broccoli with chicken) I added my own shrimp and yellow bell peppers with olive oil as to use the shrimp which I had taken out 3 days prior (see what I mean by the mood has to hit me?) Of course the meal was great and I'm still smacki'n my lips! The owner/manager is great and ALWAYS recognizes my voice when I call; mind you like I said I'm not a frequent flier here so that is very cool! She always teases me how she wished she was so well off to work from home and take a leisurely lunch. I tease her back and say "oh please, you're probably like and old jewish woman friend I knew who stuffed all her money in every orafice of her car and home!" I have never written a bad review on a restaurant before, so it sincerely saddens me to write this one. I don't plan on returning to this restaurant ever again. I've had two extremely unpleasant experiences with them over the past couple of months on phone order mix ups. The first issue that I had with them was a lunch special pad thai order. I asked a representative over the phone if they allow mix shrimp and chicken on their pad thai opposed to just one meat. The order taker replied over the phone by saying that they could accommodate my request, but didn't mention that it would be any sort of upcharge. When I got to the restaurant, my bill was much higher than usual. Upon inquiring, they mentioned to me that they charged me extra due to my request for shrimp and chicken. I told them that pricing wasn't mentioned and that I did not want to pay for any upcharge. Rather than take the order as is, I told them that I would be fine with just pad thai with chicken to keep the lunch special pricing that I was accustomed to. Who accommodates a request without also discussing an upcharge if there happens to be one? A few months later (which was 5/30/2018), I ordered (3) Pad Thai plates over the phone at 11:00 am. This restaurant has special pricing during lunch hours between 11:00 am - 3:00 pm on selected items (Pad Thai being one of them). When I arrived to the restaurant to pay for my pick up order, the lady at the register (assuming she was the owner) gives me an amount much higher than what it should have been. When I inquired about why the pricing was so high, she looked at me and rudely stated, "You have done this before!" I then told her politely that the last time that we had a mix up order, it was regarding meat and never over lunch hour pricing. She then told me that she had charged me for the standard priced Pad Thai as I didn't specify over the phone that I wanted the "lunch special Pad Thai" (even though my order was clearly at the heart of lunch time). Afterwards, I told her that I was not hear however to give you a hard time and I will give you the non-lunch pricing that you are requesting from me. I did ask her in a polite manner if most people come to her restaurant during the "lunch hour" to get the regular priced Pad Thai item?" She quickly responded by saying "Yes." I thought in my mind, who would come to a budget Pad Thai restaurant to not obtain special lunch pricing during lunch hour? Secondly, why wouldn't an order taker ask over the phone what type of pad thai needed to be ordered. This restaurant will clearly take advantage of people that may not know about their lunch specials as they clearly don't ask or inform those who order about special lunch pricing. The lunch special that I have ordered from them countless times clearly appeared to be the same portion size as the regular Pad Thai that one receives even though she mentioned that the size is bigger. This was also a deception that was unbelievable. I won't be returning back to this restaurant. I clearly felt as if the lady at the register was stereotyping me by saying, "I've done this before." I have worked in the security industry for over 12 years and I prevent dishonest people from taking advantage of homes and businesses. The thought of me unprofessionally being accused of trying to get over on them is disgusting. I had patronized their business multiple times before and after the first phone order mix-up, but won't be returning. There are many other competing Pad Thai areas in this part of Long Beach that I will be taking my business to. read more

Yum! I loooove Thai BBQ!! You HAVE to get the spareribs here! Or the BBQ chicken....or their pad see ew...or the tom yum khai or or or...everything is really really good. It never gets really busy and the service is always friendly and efficient. Their takeout service is super fast too...and the prices are pretty cheap, especially for the lunch specials. Made a trip back here yesterday with my friends and the servers were so friendly! First, she commented me on my shoes "Oooh cute!" and she kept on offering to close the blinds/shades since the sun was kind of bright. When she came back, she asked my friend "Are you sure you're okay? The sun isn't hitting your eyes?" It's little things like that which make Thai BBQ different from other restaurants. True, the atmosphere isn't something to rave about, and the parking kind of sucks, but they make up for it with their service and food. Aaaand they have an aquarium in the restaurant (I haven't been to ONE Thai BBQ which doesn't have one!) with a blowfish inside :) Anyways, I love this place. Two words, Crispy Duck. One bite of this deep fried fowl paired with amazing honey glaze sauce and shrimp fried rice and you, too, shall be converted to the cult of crispy duck. This dish alone turned yet another mundane night of delivery into a foodgasmic experience. I'm not kidding, try a bite of crispy fatty duck doused in sauce together in the same spoonful as the fried rice; it's seriously amazing. The rest of the meal was pretty solid. Thai iced tea + pad see ew. It would have been nice if the drink could be ordered in a bigger size because I just inhale the stuff. And the pad see ew was good, though I like Thai Silk's version better. Oh, we also got an order of the "wings of angel," which the boy really enjoyed. Tasted more like an over-hyped eggroll to me. I did find the presentation of this dish (two chicken wings crossed in the shape of angel wings) just a tad bit disturbing. :P P.S. only downside was the 45min wait for delivery. Brian and I went after work tonight, and I tried their Thai BBQ chicken, and was very happy. The chicken falls off the bone, and the bbq sauce is light, sweet and a little hot. I have been here a handful of times, and I have decided that my very favorite dish is their pad see ew. Tonight we got it with beef, and even though I made a little vow that I wouldn't have a lot of carbs tonight, I did take extra bites, because I do feel that the pad see ew here (take your pick; with chicken, beef, or tofu) is noodley bliss! I also appreciate that they served crushed ice in their drinks - tonight I had lemonade, and with crushed ice, it was like having a dessert. The service is good, and the wait for food is minimal; it is a small place with a giant aquarium, located in a teeny-tiny strip mall, but the food is the point, and the point is well-made here. read more

I enjoy this food every time I come. Good solid Thai and the prices are wonderful. We had the BBQ ribs, beef satay and pad see eew. We were pleased. However I must admit that once our meal was over I noticed that the actual facility needs cleaning. Stains on the glass dividing the booths, dust on everything from the ceiling fan wires down to the booth dividers. Very dusty restaurant. I couldn't help but to wonder if the kitchen was the same... I ordered the green curry and pineapple curry for pickup. They told me 15 mins, and when I walked in my order was hot and ready, no waiting! They were spot on with the timing. The pineapple curry was a bit more sweet that spicy, but still pretty good. That green curry though! Always a go-to, and they make it good! Lots of bamboo shoots, zucchini, and for me, perfect amount of chicken (and a couple sprigs of basil too.) Each order of curry comes with a generous bowl of white rice. Every time I go to a Thai place I need to try their Pad Thai, and I would say the first time having this place's Pad Thai, it was not good at all. It was super dry and had no taste to it. I was very disappointed in it. Or maybe it was because I got there right before it was closing. That could have made a huge difference on how it was prepared. The Pad See Ew was super good. I think the best Pad See Ew I've had actually. Not sure why it is but it's pretty damn good. Second time coming here, I had a Pad Thai craving after a long adventure day in Santa Ana for unlimited mimosas. Had the second go around and man this was way better than what I have remembered. Or maybe it was the mimosas talking but still it was super good. I couldn't finish so I saved like half of it for the next day, and next day Pad Thai is usually really good. Just like most things here in So Cal it's a franchise. The food suppose to taste the same and look the same as the other branch stores. We ordered the Beef Satay dinner (s8), BBQ chicken dinner (s1) and the pad thai. The chicken tasted grilled and juicy - the accompanying rice was flavorful. I've been wanting this curry again for a hot minute because I live out of town. I'm a Yellow curry girl and I LOVED their yellow curry with the fried rice substitute from the first bite a year ago.
