Quite impressive! Portions were generous plus tasty. Food is not fancy but delicious. Definitely recommend it if you enjoy thai herbs :) Also, if you've got a sweet tooth, they have mango & sticky rice as a nice thai dessert. Last but not least is the fair pricing here. Great Thai restaurant where the Pad Thai isn't too sweet like a lot of other Thai restaurants in Vancouver.

I definitely recommend going to Thai Basil after a day at Kits beach. Although it may be difficult to find a table, take out is the next best option. Service is prompt, food is delicious and is reasonably priced. The best hole in the wall Thai restaurant Kits has to offer. read more

Good Thai take away. The $10 deal is a go-to for dinner on the beach - you bet a spring roll, salad and choice of entry. The green curry has a lot of flavour with just enough spice. The green bean entry was also delicious, crunchy and interesting and complex flavours. The setting isn't inspiring for a date, but the location near the beach can't be beat. read more

I was wandering around Kits when I came across this eatery by Kits beach. I had read good reviews on this site so I decided to give it a try. I started out with the prawns wrapped in wonton. It came with a sweet and sour sauce. I also had Pad Thai with prawns, tofu, bean sprouts and peanut sprinkles. It was a generous portion. The dishes were delicious and to quench my thirst, I had the fresh young coconut juice. The staff were fast and friendly. The prices were really good too. Food is good, consistent and I love the spring rolls. My 1 star is for no other reason than that the chick who works the register in the evening is one of the rudest people I've ever encountered in a customer service environment. And it's not once or even every now and then, it's literally every single time I'm in there. Like I'm afraid of her...that's not how customer service works. It wasn't terrible, but the paad thai came with 3 small shrimp. At that point, don't even put shrimp in it - you're just hinting at what should be there but isn't. Cheap eats, yummy food, fast and easy. Deliver in Kits and easy for a meal in! Pad Sew with tofu is my go-to but I know tons of people who order all sorts of different items and are all satisfied. Authentic and delicious. I like the food in both locations. It's really good bang for your buck and is very tasty. Service is nice as well.

Ordered dinner for six people on DoorDash. I ordered Red curry with chicken. Half the chicken in the dish was cooked... the other half was RAW. RAW chicken in my food. Despite photo evidence, and after several phone calls to both Thai Basil and DoorDash. Thai Basil did not apologize. They treated me like an idiot on the phone, we were told that we were mistaken. There is something in the dish -- no word on what this mysterious thing is -- that has the taste, consistency and look of raw chicken (yum!). In the end, the restaurant gave us a $6.52 refund through DoorDash. The red curry chicken dish cost $9.75. In the end none of the six of us finished our meals... food safe is kind of important. read more

I would have never gone here if it weren't for my sister. She suggested this place as opposed to the other restaurants around so I figured, why not? Really affordable quality Thai food, is this Vancouver?! I ordered a vegetarian pad Thai and a coconut. They opened it up right there for me! While I didn't get a ton of food (despite ordering extra veggies) I felt like the quality well made up for it. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Usually very reliable service, but not this time. Ordered by phone on Canada day and they said the order would take 25 minutes which was no problem as I new they would be busy. Went to pick up the order and they had forgot to put in the order and said it would take 30 minutes for it to be ready. No offer to put ahead of other orders. Second time they messed up in a month. Need to get somebody more competent on phone to take orders. They have lost regular customer. read more

We have been here a handful of times and service sometimes has been pretty grouchy, also was almost overcharged once until I pointed out the error which they corrected without much of an apology. after writing this review leaning to a 3. Love this place! Food is fabulous, cheap and fast. I generally order to go, but the restaurant is nice too, especially on summer days when it is open to the beach. Ventured to Kits today for first time in a decade. Everything looks the same including the water and beach. Noticed this Thai place on Cornwall across the street from kits beach. Place looks pretty vanilla but decided to give it a go as it was between this place or Local. It was a surprise that a Thai person actually served me. Usually they are Chinese so I thought food could be good. Ordered a lunch special - chicken with Japanese eggplant and assorted peppers. Rice came with order. Price $8.75. My only pet peeve was no spring roll or soup. Decided to take out and eat across at kits beach with the best seat in the house staring at the water and mountains. View was awesome and so was the food. Great taste and chicken and eggplant was well marinated. Rice was also good which is important to me. If you in the area, I highly suggest hitting this place and of course, go and eat at the beach. read more

I ordered online June 28, 2020 and I have requested my order to be pick up between 530-540pm. Arrived in this restaurant; I observed that they're not implementing the proper social distancing; there's about 6 people inside ; two we're standing and talking close to the counter; there's no proper instruction of where to pick up; and constantly taking orders while us who ordered is lining up. I finally get my order and while am loading the food inside my car ; one of there server running towards me and told me that he thinks that he mixed up an order to my orders and put the plastic bags on the ground and I saw him putting each container on the ground. It disgust me and ask him if it's how he handle food safety. He just simply told me sorry. As I was about to leave ; he's running towards me again and wanted to check to see if a salad was mixed into my order!!!! I was so mad and will not recommend this restaurant at all. It is cheap yes; food was great but " I am not sure if they're aware that's it's pandemic time and most of the people are careful ; avoiding contact; and proper food handling!!! read more

I would rate this restaurant higher because the food here is very good, but the service is awful. Its not that I don't get my order quickly or there are any errors. I come her about once a week around noon. I'm always served by the same woman who takes my order with such rudeness it borders on contempt. I'm a pretty easygoing person so I just let it go. I've never had any kind of confrontation with her. Like a dummy I even leave a decent tip. I am a older man and have a lot of experience dealing with people, but at a loss here. If the owner of this restaurant reads these posts I would advise you to keep your employees in line as they are the face of your business. Your customers can easily find another restaurant in this neighbourhood full of dining options. read more

Messed up our order and under-cooked our chicken. I was sick for days. Terrible experience.

I know my Thai food having traveled to Thailand over 20 times. I was optimistic after reading reviews on yelp, but I wouldn't go hear again unless I was in a big hurry. The spicy soup I had it was clear they did not understand how to blend the flavors at all, it was simply just hot, no subtlety to the tastes underneath. Kaeng Dang chicken Curry was disappointing and laden with sugar and there is no interesting flavor underneath of the curry it self. You can cook this all from a paste bought at Whole Foods - wholly disappointing especially since it was a cold quiet night in the place, so it's just clear they take no real care with the flavors, they just shove it out the door. read more
