So this place is located in Grand Century Mall, but it's more legit. Asian mall clearly. It's not super authentic Thai, but it's Southeast Asian for sure. I say this because you can tell it's heavily Vietnamese influenced. Strong fish sauce aroma. Location makes sense. I was not a fan of the noodles used. Too skinny and thin. This affects the texture. I prefer it slightly wider, like usual Thai places. The flavor was pretty good, but it was not super savory in the way that I liked. My favorite is Oros Thai, another spot. I used to go here so often when I was in high school and used to frequent Grand Century Mall with my parents. Nowadays though, I hardly ever stop by especially during the pandemic. It's so sad to see how barren the food court that was usually thriving is during this pandemic. Support your small businesses and the Vietnamese community during this rough time! The food quality here is GREAT! One of my favorite Pad See Ews and Pad Thais in the area. Always tastes so delicious with the right amount of flavor in all the right areas. The pad thai here uses pho noodles which gives it such a bouncy texture and the tamarin flavor with the lime comes through so well. Also love the smokiness of the pad see ew along with the bitterness of the cai lan in it and sweetness of the egg. Always hits the spot! Their yellow curry with crab fried rice is also delicious. The Spicy Crab with Noodles was really good. I went there and ordered extra spicy. WOW, yeah, it had a kick!!! The dish was delicious, and I was very thankful for the beansprouts that accompanied it. The serving sizes are generous. I was hungry when I ordered this dish and had three meals from the one order. I also ordered sticky mango rice, and they did not skimp on the mango. They could have served it with a bit more sticky rice, but again, I was grateful for the portion size of an entire sweet mango. Farthest left stand inside the food court in the Grand Century Shopping Mall. This is the only Thai spot inside this Vietnamese mall, so don't expect too much from it. I love a place that can make good crab fried rice and this place does it! Here's what I've had: Yellow Curry Fried Rice with Crab Meat ($12.75): so good! I really like that they top it off with fried garlic and will probably be asking for extra fried garlic next time. Chicken Pad Thai ($11.75): they used thin noodles and the sauce coated the noodles perfectly. Not too saucy like other pad thai dishes I've had elsewhere. They give you bean sprouts, cilantro, peanuts and chili flakes on the side. Spicy Noodles with Crab Meat ($12.75): I asked for mild and it was a little spicier than I'm used to, but was still very good! Just like the pad thai, all the fixings come on the side. All three items I've tried are delicious and worth more visits. The staff are friendly and fast and they even give you free thai tea while you wait for your to go order. I really used to like Thai Lovers and it was one of my go-to restaurants when I am craving some quick Thai food. I usually don't have cash, so it wasn't one I can easily go to. So, it's been quite a while since I have been, and they did raise their prices. Their prices are still fairly reasonable considering most of their meals come with papaya salad, tom yum soup, and Thai tea. The papaya salad is very lightly seasoned, so it pretty much tastes like you are just eating fresh papaya with some tomatoes. It's not the best, but it's decent for the price. The tom yum soup is literally just the broth. There aren't any added ingredients. Again, it's not the best, but it's nice of them to include a soup. The Thai tea was a little off today, and I couldn't figure out what it was, but again I'm thankful they even include Thai tea with their meals. Usually, we need to pay $3-4 for a glass of Thai tea at other restaurants. I really enjoyed my panang curry, but it's really hard to go wrong with a curry dish. The idea is very nice, and the food is tasty, yet it's lacking just a little here and there. It's an average restaurant, and I think the rating should be closer to a 3, but the customer service is great here and the lady at the register was very nice. So, I am giving a four star rating. I do wish they had options for children. Lastly, their spicy is Thai spicy, so you may want to ask for medium or even mild spice if you can't handle Thai peppers. read more

We didn't order any drinks as it came w/ Thai iced tea that was literally frozen. It was my first time trying it and I must say that it was tolerable. When our dinner came out, I saw nothing but a fried fish looking at me, He made fun of me because he knew I was afraid. I could eat ahi tuna, shrimp, crab, and lobster (out of its shell), clams from clam chowder, and a variety of sushi unless it contains eel, and octopus. I've only tried the Bo Kho from this place. Despite the name is Thai Lover, their vietnamese Bo Kho (beef stew) needs more recognition. I got 3 orders all for myself. Their stew is flavorful and fully packed with meat. They do not play with their meat. The beef is so well cooked it's literally falling apart. It also comes with beef tendons which is something that not many places offer in their stew. Really authentic vietnamese. I'm gonna bookmark this for my future Beef Stew craving. I hate to say this but they were all very bad and tasted like old food For the curry I had to put extra sugar and salt in to get the right taste. The curry was also very watery. Pad thai was very dry and the noodles were are stuck together as if they were old or something. Pad thai was lack of sauce and flavor. I also ordered pad thai for togo many times for work before but lately pad thai is getting older and older, day by day. Chicken satay was very dry and it's old to the point that its marinate has already dried off. Yuck! Cucumber salad was my side dish and it was also bad like how? The dressing of it which was vinegar and it has no flavor but sourness. I mean,,, super sour! Let me back up... I try to knock places off my bookmarks every weekend, and there was a point, while I was trying out pescatarianism, where I had tried all of the other fish-friendly restaurants I had bookmarked by that weekend. I saw they served seafood, so I brought my date here. It's slightly difficult to find, but it shouldn't take too long. It's in the mall, if that's not obvious. They give you complimentary Thai tea and Tom yum soup with your dine-in order, so that's a plus. It was a little challenging for us to find something we both really wanted, so we played it safe and got the pad Thai without chicken (shrimp only). It wasn't bad, but I only ate one piece of the shrimp. What really stood out for me on this visit was their crab fried rice. I've never had or seen crab fried rice offered at a restaurant I've been to, so I was excited to order that. The rice was cooked well--very evenly, and the crab to rice ratio was awesome! Eating here always reminds me of Bangkok, the biggest difference is the California price tag on your meal but I always end up with leftovers after eating here so usually get 2-3 meals for the price of 1-2. Eats: Pukett Fried Rice 5/5 This is an underrated dish here! A lot of people get the pineapple fried rice but eh that's more an Americanized concept IMO. Tom Yum Soup 5/5 Always hits the spot and comes out "open your pores" hot. So much lemongrass and delicious seafood broth. Pad Thai 4/5 Can be hit or miss, was a bit oily last time. Yellow Curry 4/5 Good spice balance and flavors. Goodies are abundant, texture is also right and not too watery like at many Thai spots these days. Ambiance: Similar to a lot of small roadside shops in Thailand, rundown, probably dirtier then I would like, but the service is warm and the food is smashing good. Value: Not great since inflation has really made prices here sky rocket as well but the quality is VERY on point to what you would get in Thailand. *Note: If you are here for the Thai Iced tea only and have never been to Thailand, and are expecting something similar to a boba shop you won't find that here. The tea and coffee is similar to the roadside vendor carts (slightly watered down but has still has that toasted sweetness that Thai Tea has) and is more to quench thirst and get away from the blazing heat in Thailand. Very tasty and love the fact that it came with Thai iced tea as it's perfect to wash down spicy food. It's a bit odd I suppose that this Thai place is located in a food court with all Vietnamese stalls. Provides a good option I suppose if you don't want Vietnamese food while in Little Saigon (?). The cashier my friend and I encountered on our most recent visit was very soft-spoken and friendly. Our order came out quickly and it was nice and warm. The entrees are served on a huge plate and you can definitely share the portion with a friend. Every entree order comes with a cup of thai tea, which you can refill from a pitcher at their counter, and a bowl of tom yum soup, which is a hot broth with tangy spicy, herb-like taste. This is my go to place when I'm craving affordable, fast food Thai in San Jose. Unlike a lot of other Thai spots in the Bay Area, the pad thai here is on the drier side (my personal preference) and can be served spicy. Also unlike a lot of other spots in the Bay Area, they don't use ketchup and the noodles come with plenty of toppings (bean sprouts, green onions, peanuts, lime, and choice of meat). I haven't ventured too far down the menu though - can only attest to the solidness of the Penang curry and tom yom (in addition to the pad thai). To make matters even better, every entree comes with unlimited free Thai iced tea and a bowl of tom yom. The Thai iced tea and tom yom (free version) aren't anything to write home about - but hey, can't complain. Just be warned, it'll be hard forking out $ for Thai iced teas and tom yoms after a meal here. Level set your expectations as far as ambience goes though - stationed in a Vietnamese food court, there are only a few wobbly tables/chairs and limited service. What Thai Lovers lacks in environs though, they make up for in their food (and bang for your buck)! read more

UPDATE: Well, they are still putting EGGPLANT in the Green Curry, yet it is advertised as BAMBOO SHOOTS but there are NO BAMBOO SHOOTS. They use to have bamboo shoots when I use to give this place a perfect score. I absolutely HATE EGGPLANTS in my Green Curry. Please change the description if you will continue to put Eggplant instead of the advertised Bamboo Shoots. Also the price has gone up. The "seafood" items have more of a price increase than those without. Portion sizes have lessened as well. Quality is about the same, but still not as great during its earlier days. The included Tom Yom soup still the same but with barely any baby corn, barely any mushrooms as it once did. There use to be a "good" amount of shrimp in the Paid Thai and the Pineapple Fried rice, now you get 2. What hasn't changed is the service is still nice and friendly. Located in the shopping plaza of Vietnam Town they only accept cash and are ran by Vietnamese folks. Nevertheless, their food is delicious. Their service is fast. They offer free Thai tea and soup for folks dining in. I get free Thai tea still while waiting in a take out order. The ladies behind the counter are super honest. When they advised they didn't have sea bass and I switched my order to another fish after I already made my payments they made sure I got back the difference. (The sea bass price wasn't listed so they could've pocketed the difference and I wouldn't know). I've never left disappointed and that counts as a lot for me. Love their pad see ew (which they call Bangkok noodles). Pad Thai is good. Really love their papaya salads and fried fish combo plates. Very consistent. read more
