Drove out from Mojave to meet a friend here. The parking behind the building was full. We had to find street parking, which wasn't too hard. We were greeted right away. We sat at the bar while we waited for the rest of our group to come the bartender was personable and polite. My husband had a great time chatting with the bartender. The rest of our group came. We were seated after they set the table. The food came out fairly quick. The only negatives I have is I wish our server was a little Quicker, getting us a check and in between check-in's For refill of drinks. This is hands down one of my favorite places to eat. Originally we started coming here for brunch because the biscuits with the butter and honest are to die for and their bartenders sure know how to make a good drink. One night we decided to try for dinner and I love it even more. My husband loves the bone marrow and steak tartar and I am obsessed with the crunchy octopus! The inside seating is a little tight but they have a ton of outdoor seating and I LOVE the new covering on the patio that it auto opens and closes so on a nice day it can be open but if it's raining you still have covered patio seating with heaters. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!! My friend and I got there at around 12:30 and were seated immediately and the server was great at first, so we thought it was going to be a good time. & oh were we wrong !! First , it was soooooo hot inside my friend almost passed out from the heat , we had to leave early without finishing the food bc it was so hot. Second, there were flies that kept flying around us. Third, the sever actually sucked . He forgot about us and we had to request multiple/ multiple times things such as refills of water and NAPKINS!! Fourth but certainly not least, I was charged twice ! I asked for a bill to get the fuck out of the heat asap so I didn't bother to look at what we were being charged for , I just paid & left for the door. The server comes running after me talking about he charged me for the wrong thing and needs to run my card again for the correct order. ( that should tell you how good he was) I was like ok but I just paid you so is that being reimbursed?? He said the payment should reverse. I'm looking at my account and both payments are still pending & I'm hoping I don't have to deal with this place again to get reimbursed for their server's mistake . read more

Not at the bar, but definitely in that bar "section" - 1 star Menu was limited - 2 stars Mac & Cheese og still on the menu - 5 stars Good but it did NOT taste like the original dish - 3 stars Beef rib poutine tasted like chili cheese fries - which wasn't bad but also not the taste you may be expecting and def not for the pricetag of $18 - 2 stars Rice brunch something-or-other - yes tasty, but also something I could have thrown together easily with leftover white rice and topped with sunny side eggs. - 3 stars Hot chocolate and iced mocha - literally milk and chocolate syrup. Presentation was extremely basic as well, maybe if they made it look pretty my brain may have thought it tasted decent? - 1 star Lovely ambiance credited to the LB patronizers. - 5 stars Dishes had speckles of old crusted food, the booth seats had a thin layer of dust across the headboards, and the table felt a bit sticky when we were seated. - 1 star Overall score: 2.86 Stars Again, my rating may have been tainted by the mood I came in with - but also, the brunch experience was mid and didn't lift my mood - EXCEPT for the part of having my kid's attention all to myself for mother's day. My night at this place was amazing! We made a reservation in advance which I believe definitely helped with the waiting time. The place has a tiny parking structure though that made it difficult to go in and out. We received great service from our waiter despite how busy the place was that night. We got cocktails and were very happy with the overall ambiance of this place. It was very cozy and romantic. I got a daily special item that day that had steak and asparagus... though I don't remember its name, I know for a fact that it was delicious! My boyfriend's dish was also delicious, but I wish they had added a little more shrimp. The only thing was that the tables were very small and close to each other, which I found a little uncomfortable. Regardless, it was a wonderful night of great food and beautiful ambiance. read more

As a visitor to SoCal, this place doesn't rank highly enough to garner a repeat visit. I think the overall experience was okay, but falls very short of spectacular. Probably deserves 3 stars, but I'll give it 4 because I had a very yummy cocktail. I ordered the blue bayou omelette (stuffed with blue crab and shrimp, served with avocado on top, and a side of fruit and potatoes). It was the smallest omelette I have ever seen and they ran out of avocado. I couldn't detect any blue crab either. It wasn't a bad omelette, but just one that sounded so much better on the menu. The cocktail I had though was refreshing and delicious and came recommended from our server. I don't remember the name, but it had pineapple and vodka, and maybe cucumber. And to top off the whole experience, our table was buzzing with activity. We had pesky and bold flies trying to dive bomb into our food. At one point we counted six of these suckers on the table with us. It is not The Attic's fault, as we did request to sit outside, but I recommend that you request a table indoors if you're not a fan constantly shooing bugs away from your food. read more

I found this place on yelp so I drove out today. I ordered the Reggae Mac and hot cheetos with avocado. The mac and cheese itself was good but I ended up scraping off alot of the cheetos because it wasn't doing it for me (I'm not really a fan of chips in general). I really liked the avocado with the mac though. All in all, I'd probably order something different for my main meal if I go back, mostly because their mac was something to try once but not something I enjoyed enough to eat again. But while i wasnt the biggest fan of the mac n cheetos, the dessert was heavenly! I ordered the bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream on the side (I saw photos on yelp with ice cream and it looked good). The bread pudding was the best I ever had!!! And the ice cream made it so much more delicious- a perfect combination of hot and cold. The only downside was the price (the bread pudding was $10 and the additional ice cream was $2). It was pretty expensive for dessert, but worth trying at least once, especially for bread pudding fans. Overall I spent $25 for my mac and my bread pudding, which is probably the most I've spent on any one meal in a very long time. So if I go back, maybe I'll just get the bread pudding or something (which wouldn't be too bad since I felt way too stuffed after eating the mac and dessert, and the dessert was the only part of the meal I really loved) :) read more

Phenomenal breakfast. We had the best fried chicken ever (with waffle). The skin was crispy and flaky, which by itself is not hard to do. The meat inside, however, was succulent and marinated with lemon herbs. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it. The service was also very good. Our waitress stopped by a few times to see if we needed anything, and the general manager also stopped by to inquire how we liked the food. The restaurant is not far from the Long Beach Airport (LGB), so it was a perfect stop after our early morning flight and we finished a great meal in under an hour. And the food is fantastic! My partner had the breakfast sandwich and I had the veggie burger. Both dishes were very tasty and filling. The fries are amazing; the seasoning is delicious. This spot has been on my go to list since I moved to California yet for some reason I always ended up at other places. Finally, I got to try it with a group of friends who also had been wanting to explore this place. I wasn't the only disappointed one. The Food - IT WAS CHEWY AND TASTELESS. We all ordered something different and that was our main complaint. The lack of flavor. The best part for me was the gravy but even then that wasn't enough to make me excited to tell people about it. The Attic has gone through the roof. We made the transition from the prior quiet formal dining eatery to the cool open concept setting that The Attic became. Better suited to drawing from the surrounding neighborhoods, young, hip with better price points. Great Bar Service and knowledgeable staff left them in our eatery rotation. Price structures changed but the food, ambience and service did as well. With the Michelin mention came price bumps that cannot be justified.
