I came here with a couple of friends on a Friday evening. We had already had dinner somewhere else, so we just came here for dessert and some tea. Service was great, even if a bit slow, ambiance was fantastic. The establishment has 3 different areas, the main lobby has café kind of vibes, then going down a hallway takes you to a roofed dining area, and right next to it there's an unroofed dining area. Super cute dog friendly spot in ktown! They have a patio area where your furry friend can join you for lunch/dinner. The server was even kind enough to bring out water bowls for both of our dogs. We ordered the rosé seafood pasta and corn soup to share and both were delicious! I will be thinking about this corn soup for a while. It wasn't too creamy nor too watery as corn soup can be sometimes which was a huge win in my book. The seafood pasta was cooked perfectly (both pasta and the seafood). Met up with six friends at The Barn Cafe for a weekend brunch. The breakfast menu isn't huge, but they've got all the essentials--and everything we tried was delicious. Had my engagement dinner here with a party of 19, which I was glad that they were very accommodating despite some minor hiccups. There is no designated parking other than a few spots at the front, so hopefully there is street parking closeby. We arrived a few minutes late, but were not seated until another 15 minutes after. To be fair the table needed to be set up and had to decide where we were sitting. We had a single long table in the outdoors area that was still in an enclosed space with AC. Ordering food and drinks was definitely an ordeal with how big our group was, and getting all the tableware took some time. They had our orders mostly down, but did take very long on my one order and I ended up starting to eat when everyone else was done, and that was my biggest issue. But other than that, they had all the other parts covered, and it was by and large a positive experience. They allowed for us to bring in an outside engagement cake for the occasion and were able to provide extra plates and silverware for that too. I had the seafood pasta which was creamy with tomato and various seafood including shrimp and squid and mussels, and came with garlic bread on the side. The sauce had a lot of good flavor and it was piping hot, very enjoyable. My fiance had the mentaiko pasta which was creamy and also came with shrimp and a garlic bread. my girlfriends and I went to Anju House next door few months ago and wanted to try The Barn Cafe. I was surprised by how pretty it is inside. The pictures on Yelp looked like a coffee shop but it's a nice drinking place with great ambiance. It has a huge menu which we definitely didn't take advantage of. We had roasted chicken (good), kimchi pancake (it was very sour), chicken gizzard (good) and lots of beer and soju. I wish we tried more food items... Barn Omelette (5): Delicious and full of ingredients. Liked that it came with side salad and some fries that were thin cut and not overly fried. Also the sourdough bread was tasty and completed the brunch experience. Tofu salad (5): Favorite dish. The tofu was lightly fried, had a bit of that mochi texture and came drizzled with a light vinaigrette dressing over spring mix salad. Delicious! Update: 11/2024 Went with the family to try this place again; seems like their menu has changed from the last time we have been here. Service has in fact improved and bathrooms are cleaner. Now the food for me still hasn't improved. I feel like it is over priced and the preparations are lacking. Luckily I had the best waiter and restaurant manager who was very polite and accommodating. We tried the ARMY STEW, WHOLE FRIED CHICKEN and we ordered ASADO dish but unfortunately under certain circumstances we had to cancel that order because what was given to us was different then it should have been(thanks to other yelpers); according to the manager they had a shortage of meat hence the quantity given to us. In my honest opinion she was very nice and I understand that they didn't have enough meat but considering that they had that on their menu they should be fully aware of what they can serve and not serve for the day. But nonetheless she was nice and took the dish back and remove from the bill and gave my daughter free French fries because she wanted it lol. I am so glad she did that because I was not going to pay $58 for that. Now moving forward to the Fried Chicken, flavor was great however it was super greasy, the platter was drenched in oil. Cafe the Barn is a cute aesthetic restaurant in Ktown, literally right next door to Yellow House Cafe. I saw a commercial for the restaurant on the Korean channels and bookmarked it immediately. Similar to Yellow House Cafe, it's a house-turned restaurant with Korean Italian fusion with pastas and some interesting menu items like spicy sea snail and noodle, deep-fried chicken gizzard, and dried filefish. My buddy and I decided to opt for the traditional items like the cream bacon and kimchi pasta and beef bulgogi fried rice. The pasta was good and the fried rice was alright. The fried rice had bell pepper, which I didn't expect cuz I don't really like bell pepper, but it was fine and good. Overall, it is a really cute date spot, but I think I slightly prefer yellow house cafe because their portions are bigger for the same price. I was slightly disappointed because I wasn't full full for the price we paid, but it was fine. The pasta probably is slightly more generous. We spent a total of $20-30 each and our selection included two colorful drinks that matched our auras along with the rosé ddukbokki and shrimp fried rice. (Ur telling me a shrimp fried dis rice?! xD) The food and refreshments were pretty good and filled us up nicely. After we were done eating, we enjoyed the ambience of the area and had a little bit of fun. We saw the owner's cute doggo which made our little bear friend happy too hehe. The tv screens were playing random kpop mvs but the worker was also kind enough to accept specific song/artist requests. I went for lunch twice in 6 months. On the first visit, I had Mentaiko Pasta which was not appealing to me. On the second visit, we shared 3 dishes. Shrimp Salad was excellent. The fried wings were crispy and delicious. Kimchi Fried Rice was too bland to be kimchi fried rice as if the chef washed the kimchi too much or the kimchi itself was not tasty. It was edible but not flavorful. The interior and restroom are all very nice. Each table has a buzz to call the staff. Valet parking is $3 for lunch and $4 for dinner which is not bad. Because it is in front of the elementary school, all alcoholic beverages can be ordered after 3PM. It has 3 different menus for brunch, all day, and dinner. There is a lot to choose from. But I got the donkatsu last time and the portion was smaller and looked different from the picture on the menu, so I don't recommend. Cafe the Barn is a deceptively roomy place. Its menu is on the smaller side. I don't recommend it in winter because it gets a bit chilly as most of their seating is outdoors. Vibe is casual and the interior makes it a fun place to hang out over drinks in the afternoon. Everyone in the place, including the workers, was Korean the two times I've been. The Omurice wasn't anything to write home about, but it was tasty and got the job done. Rice is seasoned with ketchup and contains ground beef, bell peppers, and onions. I recommend their Blue Latte if you're looking for a drink! The coffee isn't acidic at all and the syrup tastes almost like Fruity Pebbles. It isn't super sweet, but you can request for extra syrup if you have a sweet tooth. This may be a good place if you're looking to sit down to get some work done. Only a couple of the desks have outlet access though, so make sure to ask to be seated in the corner if you need to charge your device!
