Sauce was good, service was good but the amount you get for what we paid wasn't good at all. The crab was small and tasted more fishy than I'm used to. Normally I'm not the type to leave reviews, but this is still bothering me. We came here last night for my birthday. We had a party of 15. From the get go people in my party said there was a couple workers that gave them attitude. We were told where to sit by 1 worker yet when we got upstairs another worker snobbed my sister and told her nobody is to sit until our waitress was there. Let me be clear, OUR waitress was AWESOME! The food was good... the mild was a bit more spicy than a lot of us realized. There were kids present as well. One of my friends had ordered a shrimp plate and the first one was great! Not spicy! So they wanted another one and when it came it was spicy. She had her daughter and husband also try it and both of them agreed that it was spicy! She asked for it to be redone, not spicy, but then the manager came out with the plate and told her that he made it the same way as the first time. She said that this one was spicy and that she had 2 other people try it. He then started to get aggressive and tell her "well what else do you want because I'm not going to remake it and it's not what you want!" She said she just wanted it not spicy! He then told her again "well tell me what else you want". That's when she got upset from the attitude and she said nvm. She doesn't want it anymore. And then she proceeded to cancel the rest of her dishes. I don't blame her, because wth!? Being a manager, you should be able to problem solve in a way where your customers don't feel like they're being attacked. I was omw to the bathroom and by the time I got back, they were gone! I've been to The Boiling Crab in Las vegas. I heard and saw they opened in Salt Kakaako while back but didn't make it there until tonight. You can get on their waiting list on Yelp which I love just in case it's busy and it gives you an idea how busy they are. All restaurant should be setup this way rather than dashing to the restaurant and wait to get yourself on the waiting list and then wait some more. We got there close to 5pm and we were set right away. The young man at the entrance gave us the complete introduction of the restaurant. Nice! This location has a washing hand station for your convenience but restrooms are located outside the restaurant right across. We ordered a king crab combo that included clams, mussels, shrimps, corns, potatoes, sausage and jasmine rice for three of us. Later on we ordered another order or king crab. And then we were pretty full after that. The price is definitely more than what we've spent in the past but inflation and operating in Hawaii what else can you expect. Besides, seafood is not a regular consumption so it's okay to splurge once in awhile. The best part is you use you hands, make a mess, and you don't get to clean up after yourself. The food satisfied our cravings to the max. I love their shabang sauce which is all three sauces together (rajun cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic sauce). I got it mild because the spice levels run hot (mild 5-7, medium 7-9, spicy 10). It was delicious, and I feel like the sauce really makes a seafood boil. I would say as of right now this is my most preferred place to get seafood boil. The ambiance is sort of sport bar like and I noticed a lot of families being there as well. They have an upstairs area which is good for parties as well. The service was attentive this time around where we were being asked, "how is everything going/hows it tasting?" almost every 5 min, by about 6 people (it was relatively empty at the time we came which could be the reason). I would've rated this experience a 4.5 if I could. Definitely try to come a little early because it can get pretty busy. Last time we waited about 45min-an hour. Coming at around 4-5pm should be perfect. During the week they also have happy hour prices for some sides. Located in Salt of Kakaako, the boiling crab has been around for while. The service is very good, friendly staffs, very attentive in my opinion. The place do look like a seafood restaurant, with TV screen on the wall. We always ordered the combo dinner, but for some reason, they always run out of Dungeness crab. I believe the live crab may be too expensive, that's why they don't carry it often and just say they ran out of it. We order the fried oyster and fries, I love the fried oyster is served very hot, with the fries, it is nice combo to start our dinner. We also ordered the snow crab combo dinner with the Cajun sauce because they do not have Dungeness crab. Personally, I think the Cajun sauce is lack of favor and just spicy, my wife likes it but I wish the sauce is a bit thicker and have more garlic favor. We ordered everything with mild garlic sauce: $101 King Crab combo. Came with some shrimp (a couple were not deveined), clams, sausage, potatoes, mussels, 4 scoops of rice & corn on the cob (soggy). $56.70 for 0.9 lb snow crab $16 pound clams $15.50 fried oysters with cajun fries $7.75 side sweet potato fries $5 extra sauce on the side (medium heat) $12.25 each for 3 margaritas made with sabe blanco, a blend of sake & agave sprit $6.25 bottle of blue moon $256.49 total with tax I'm glad we got the mild sauce because the mild was plenty spicy. Visited 4 August 2022 I visited multiple times before but didn't realize I never wrote a review. Gasp! Although they don't make reservations, our party of 8 was able to join the Yelp waitlist. First off when getting here I assumed that once on the waitlist your automatically enrolled and they will call you when your there only because there was a time when we'd possibly be called I noticed a lot of people going before us and then when it passed my time on the waitlist whiling waiting inside I went inside to see where we were knowing they were taking a lot of people before me I asked them about it and they said I have to check in with the host and nothing was relayed that I had to do so. All in all food was great our server was very helpful in what to get. However the Dungeness crab was very overcooked and for the price it was at was a bit much. With that being said we did bring it up to our server and they did take 20% off of it although I didn't think that was enough due to how bad it was but something is better then nothing. Parking on the other hand was a bit hard to find although they do have a parking lot I'm not to sure how it is. Atmosphere was great and they do have a wash station to wash your hands and mouth if need to inside rather then going to the public bathroom that is outside. I ordered the snow crab combo and I have quite a few complaints. To start I asked to substitute crawfish because I have a shrimp allergy and they were not able to accommodate. I do understand it says that on the menu, but it was a bit disappointing. I ended up giving away the shrimp, but the shrimp was barely edible. It was extremely overcooked and gummy and was falling apart while trying to take the shell off. The sausage was extremely rubbery and overcooked. The crab is good but the combo only comes with one snow crab cluster. The crawfish are edible at best. The clams & mussels were probably the only good thing. They don't do reservations, but on Yelp you can go ahead and be on a wait list 8 miles away from the restaurant. Which is pretty neat. Saturday night around 730pm there was no wait time, but I did check in on Yelp and we were seated immediately upon arriving. Restrooms aren't in the restaurant but there is one right across from it with a bathroom code, where you can find on a board located by the front desk of the restaurant. We were greeted upon entering, and seated right away. Menu is through a QR code on the napkin container. We ordered the King Crab Legs Combo, The Whole Sha-bang sauce Mild and 6 raw Oysters. The raw oysters were really good, the sauce for it reminded me of a spicy cocktail sauce but so much better. Really good with the oysters topped with lemon. King crab legs combo came with king crab legs - about 4 to 6 legs, potatoes, corn, sausage, shrimp, clams, mussels and 2 bowls of rice. The whole sha-bang sauce was really flavorful, a bit sweet and savory. The other choices were lemon pepper, Cajun or garlic. The whole she bang is a mix of EVERYTHING. Glad we went with the mix, also the whole sha-bang is the most popular sauce choice. (Our server mentioned) There are street parking in the area, but it was pretty hard to find so we decided to park in the front of SALT. Parking lots pretty small but we were lucky to find a spot. They do validate parking, we paid $1 upon leaving which was supposed to be $3 so we got $2 off which is not too bad. Thank you for also having a sink in the restaurant because this is probably the first place I was offered a BIB ONLY to eat with. Grabbed a couple of margs and it was a good time if I do say so myself. I recommend the li hing mui marg. They have a machine where you can put your name and number so they can notify you when your table is ready. Ordered same cajun fries, shrimp and crawfish in their signature mix. The crawfish was decently sized, as in not small. The meat did not taste too deteriorated/mushy from being frozen. I appreciate that the garlic was grinded and actual signature mix was just not made of hot oil/butter. Shrimp was also good and more filling but what can i say im a crawfish gorlie. We especially love outdoor restaurants due to COVID, so thought it was safe to venture here for our first family of nine-people dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. And they did a great job - checked vaccinations cards, temperatures, and addresses for contact tracing, super easy joining Yelp's waiting list (I think this is the first time I've tried this feature, and I LOVE the ease and convenience!!), and menu available through their QR code taking you to their website: https://theboilingcrab.com/menu/honolulu/. Although everything on the menu looks amazing, we finally settled on: $15 crab fries - wouldn't order it again, basically fries topped with a lemon aioli and crab meat $7 kids chicken tender and fries basket - kids loved it, I should've ordered the full sized dish $14 oysters and fries - came with 7 large oysters, so good and fried well $15 fried catfish and fries - 4 large catfish, fried well, my mom's favorite. I kind of liked it with the sauce $45 crawfish combo, which comes with a pound of crawfish, 1/2 pound of shrimp, mussels, and clams, 1 sausage, 2 (1/2 pieces of) corn, a few large potatoes, and 2 large rice. The combo was so good. We ordered it with the sauce on the side because we weren't sure how my mom would handle the spice (she couldn't handle the mild, so ended up eating from my sister's entrees, hah), but I thought this was brilliant. The sauce didn't get stuck into the shells, etc so I was sure that I could eat every drop of the yummy shabang sauce (mixture of the rajun cajun, garlic, lemon pepper) with everything. I loved dipping a little into the lime/salt pepper sauce that I created to offset the richness of the sauce. Plus, the kids could enjoy some of the "naked" sausage without being overwhelmed by the spices. The clams were a bit small, so a bit disappointing, though now I'll know what to expect. The crawfish also involved a lot of work for a little meat. The corn was a bit mushy, but still yummy especially with some sausage dipped in the sauce, and better than being undercooked or crunchy. My favorite seafood were probably the shrimp, though I do enjoy having an assortment of seafood. All the fries were crispy and delicious, even without the lemon pepper or cajun seasonings (sigh, kids). We loved the bibs, gloves (sorry for being environmentally unfriendly ...), and thankfully, they also brought us spoons upon request - we felt a little weird about shoveling rice into our mouths with our hands. I have fond memories at the boiling crab, as it's such a unique dining experience. This time turned out a little different! Everything started out great; the hostess and servers were extremely friendly, and we ordered plenty of food. I got the shrimp and snow crab, with corn and potatoes - the food was absolutely delicious. That sauce is the best seafood sauce I could ask for - make sure you get the "whole shebang".
