Servers here are always polite and pretty attentive. Food is delicious and They have some very fun menu items (like the s'mores pancakes) and also have yummy specials. My favorite is the eggs Benedict, the hollandaise is creamy and flavorful but not overwhelming. The only negative to this place is that I have never been here when there wasn't a line out the door, and a pretty long wait, but it can be very worth it. I've been here a few times and once they brought our food out almost an hour after we ordered, but other then that one experience I love this place and look forward to going when I do. read more

Great breakfast/brunch spot in north haven. Casual, cozy, comfort breakfast food. All great in my book! Anything from their daily special will never disappoint! However, I'm a huge fan of their biscuit and country gravy or any of their eggs benedict! (I've had them all and they are all delicious!) If you get there mid-morning (after 9:30, especially on a weekend) you will most likely wait, but it's quick and well worth it. Tops 30 minutes but it never feels that long. Go, do it! We've been coming to the Breakfast Nook for the past few months, and I must say that each and every time we have been there, the place was jumping with business.. People, such as ourselves, wait patiently for the great food that we are about to receive, and with good reason.. Everything from the food, to the service, is top notch, and very reasonably priced. For instance, my girlfriend had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with a side of homemade corned beef hash and coffee, our little girl had an order of chocolate chip pancakes, a side of hash browns, and a hot chocolate, and I had a turkey sausage, roasted red pepper, and American cheese omelette with a side of Jalapeño hash browns (George's Hash Browns), with a some homemade rye toast, and a piping hot cup of coffee... All for $33! Not exactly expensive fare. As for seating, I have a pretty serious injury that doesn't allow me to sit for more than 20-30 minutes, and requires me for the moment to use crutches to walk, and we had absolutely no problem with space, nor comfort. Service was also very attentive with not only our waitress following up to see if everything was alright, but also someone who appeared to either be the manager, or the owner, as well.. In addition to two busboys who walked around the whole time we were there topping guests cups of coffee off.. In short, there wasn't a need for us to lift a finger to ask for something, or want, without the staff offering something first. Top notch in my book if you ask me. The only two areas that I need to mention, and I'm hoping the owner reads this, is the need for Cholula Hot Sauce.. Their only two choices are Frank's RedHot and Tobasco, and Cholula is not only tastier than the Frank's (and not as sweet), but also not as biting as the Tobasco in the heat department. The other area would be the parking situation, which at peak times could be a bit of a nuisance. Either way, the hot sauce, and parking at peak times, was not enough to detract from a perfect score in my book. In short, don't pass this one up! read more

Very disappointed. Been coming here for years and it has continuously gone down hill. Today's breakfast was the final straw. Their eggs Benedict are usually very good but today they served me something completely inedible. The English muffin was literally hard as a rock and burnt to a crisp plus the egg was hard and very overdone. The staff knows us as we are regulars but are just minimally friendly at best. The place reminds me of Florida. The clientele is very old when we went. The girl who sat us down was very young and sweet, I'm sure it's the bosses daughter. The waitress I'm sure was also a manager or someone who knew the owner. She was also very sweet. We ordered the off the menu egg sandwich with gluten free bread with prosciutto on top and a Greek omelet. The omelet was good. Nothing glaringly special but good. The egg sandwich was good as well except there prosciutto was a bit salty. It over powered the egg sandwich. The waitress even said her own prosciutto is not as salty. This is a nice place. I used to work in the area and would occasionally come here for breakfast. It was always crowded and the food was quite good. I cannot speak to how it is now as I have not been in awhile (was browsing and saw this place, realized that I had not reviewed them). for me they worked because they were convenient. Their food was tasty as well. Service at times could be slow but not always and anyway I think many people had the same idea as me. It seemed to be very popular for people working in the area. If in the North Haven area again I will absolutely go back as this was a very pleasant place to grab breakfast. read more

Small, quaint place. We came in as a party of two. They put us in the corner facing the wall. There was another table but she didn't seat us there. Terrible seating. A couple came 5 minutes later and was sat at the empty table. Kind of annoying. Would never go back there just because of that. I had the California Eggs Benedict. They were ok but the muffins were burnt lol. My daughter had fried eggs and bacon. The bacon was a cheap quality, flimsy, and not cooked well. Great little spot for breakfast, fast service, good food, plenty of turnover on tables so you're not waiting for long. My husband had the vegetarian wrap with home fries & a small side of fresh fruit. The wrap had broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, cheese, and potatoes inside and came with a side of home fries & salsa. Coffee is offered in copious amounts during your stay, and tables are cleaned well. I had a really good egg & cheese scramble on a croissant with home fries and a side of a grilled pumpkin muffin with butter. The muffins are made fresh in house and are on a specials menu which changes often, they are delicious and fresh. Our waitress checked in at least 3 times, and our check and a box for my leftovers were brought promptly. There are plenty of tables to accommodate all sizes of parties, there is a small counter area as well with about 8 bar stools, and the place is decorated with all manor of rooster decor. Was doing business down the street, and needed a quick and fulfilling late breakfast--this did not disappoint. Ordered the vegetable grove omelet, with spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and cheese. The spinach and mushrooms were fresh (detest when places use frozen/canned), as were the tomatoes. Fabulous. The whole wheat toast was a fresh local bread, and I could tell. The iron skillet potatoes were a standout. When toast and potatoes are memorable at a breakfast place, and not merely throwaway slop like most diners sling at you, I take notice. One criticism/suggestion (and this goes for most places serving quality breakfast): Don't underestimate the power of good coffee. I'd suggest a coffee selection. The house cup of Colombian (I'm guessing) just laid there. I'll be hitting Starbucks on the way out. All in all, excellent breakfast. Will return. read more

Affordable, quick, and tasty! I hadn't been here in a few years and went today. They have outdoor seating and indoor. The service was good and quick, and the servers are very friendly. The eggs, bread, and muffins are super fresh and yummy. 4 stars and not 4 for me only because of the breakfast potatoes! They used to be small and crispy, but now they're larger chunked and not crispy like they used to be. I wasn't a fan of the potatoes but everything else here is fantastic! read more

We'd been coming here for years, but we'll never come back again. The owner yelled at us for having children. ??? She complained that we "wasted the jelly packets." Sorry, never coming back here again. You can't treat customers like that and expect to keep them. Quote from the owner "I hope you don't leave your house the way you left my restaurant." Not a family friendly place. Maybe she was having a bad day, who know. Regardless there is never a good enough excuse to treat someone the way we were treated. My new favorite breakfast nook while in town! The staff are friendly and welcoming, efficient and thorough. This place was bustling with patrons when we stopped in, and the staff worked the room so well that I watched in amazement. They were patient and kind a smiling with every turn! The staff also give helpful recommendations, so when they recommend the toast (italian bread) when ya order the biscuits and gravy with a side of two over easy eggs, say yes please, and go with it; you'll appreciate the extra toasty help with scooping up the runny goodness on your plate. Also ordered was the Oscar Benedict, with perfectly poached eggs and a runny yolk on a crisp toasted english muffin. You'll want that muffin extra crisp, the way they do it, which soaks up perfectly the yolk and hollandaise. "Would you like that muffin toasted?" YES, PLEASE! Say yes to the toasted muffin, you won't be disappointed. They're cut it half (muffin top on one side, bottom on the other), toasted on the flat top, then served with butter on the side, if you'd like to add it. Go ahead. Splurge. Indulge yourself and add a little butter. It's totally worth it. We'll be back to try the French toast and pancakes and corned beef hash. read more

Was displeased to arrive and find that there is not a host at the table taking names/party size, but rather you "just get in line." Seemed very disorganized, because while I was going inside to "put in my name" as you would at any other breakfast joint, people were arriving after me and getting in line to be seated before me. Pretty annoyed by that on a busy Sunday morning. The food I got was good, my boyfriend's was bland. I got the Bananas Foster Pancakes (can't go wrong with dessert for breakfast) and he got a breakfast burrito. The service was fairly slow, the noise level was very high (annoyingly so), the restaurant was stuffy and hot throughout the meal, and the refills on drinks were slow. Once we got our bill, the minute I picked it up, I had a server trying to rush us out the door. By chance I was in the area for something and family decided they wanted to head to the Breakfast Nook. It was around noon but most of us ordered breakfast anyway. My experience this time was a vast improvement to the horrible time I had at the restaurant last time I was there so way to go TBN! I ordered the Polska Omelet which was kielbasa and onion. It came with toast and home fries which they call skillet potatoes. I was a little worried about these but they were fantastic. A solid 5 star side. Flavor was spot on and a nice crust. Little different than your typical home fry but in a lot of ways much better. The omelet was decent. I thought the egg lacked a bit of seasoning but was otherwise good. Pretty much standard as omelets go. I've had better elsewhere but as I've said it was still good. I also ordered a slice of french toast so I could try it. Solid 5 star french toast. Will definitely consider TBN as an option if I'm in the area for food. As a foodie side note a friend at the table ordered lunch. A Reuben sandwich. He appeared to enjoy it so asked and he said it was pretty good. It looked packed and very juicy. I was a bit jealous. lol Prices were pretty standard for the area and the service was pretty decent. A little slow on bringing out drinks but I won't knock them for that considering how busy it was when were there.
