This is definitely one of the quick "go-to" restaurants in Milford. It is served counter style so you go up and order and wait for your name to be called. Keep in mind everything is cooked to order so it may take a few more minutes than you're expecting. Prices are very fair, most burgers can be made for under $10. Also, their homemade fries are great, that is when they are fully cooked. Have been several times where the fries seemed like they weren't left in the fryer for long enough, leaving them to be a disappointment compared to their usual taste. We are regular customers dining in for years and have never really had anything bad to say about Burger Joint. We stop in for dinner probably 3-4 times a month. I think maybe only once we had an issue and the staff was quick to fix it. Staff is always friendly. Fun kid friendly atmosphere and really neat that they've gone to eco-friendly cups and baskets. The kids love the grill cheese made on a pita and chocolate shakes. I always make my own burger and they even have a gluten free bun option. If you stop in often join their rewards club, seems like we are getting $5 off our bill every couple visits. A great place to go when you need something to eat quick. TBJ is a quick and great place to get food. Located in what is known as downtown Milford, MI, it offers an unique touch to an old town. We ordered 5 burgers and sides and they said "it is going to be a little longer". So it took 10-15 minutes. Awesome. Now the food. Based on the other reviews, I'm hoping we just happened to be there on an "off" night. My husband and I took our toddler to dinner on a Tuesday evening. I was a little put off by the prices to begin. Two burgers, an order or fries and an order of onion rings, two soft drinks and a chicken fingers kids meal was almost $30. The food came out pretty quickly and looked great. Let me start by saying that I like salt, and my husband LOVES salt, but the fries were salty to the point of being almost inedible. The burgers were fine. Not a whole lot of flavor and definitely nothing memorable, but fine. As a parent, I have some pet peeves when it comes to kids meals. If you have chicken fingers solely on your kids meal, meaning you intend to serve them all to children, please PLEASE don't serve the highly spiced, overly peppery ones. My daughter will eat anything, including food off of the floor, but I have yet to find a child under the age of 5 that enjoys peppery food. She ended up not eating much of it so I saved it for my lunch the next day. We weren't the only ones not so impressed. I heard the tables on both sides of us complaining about their food to the point that one group actually got up and left, calling it "inedible." Their burger are amazing, I got the Joey Burger which has onion rings, cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce on top of a 1/2 pound patty of beef. I also got a malt to go with it and my mouth was sent to heaven on the first bite. My friends created their own burgers which is a cool feature they have. You can choose what type of meat, how much (1/4 or 1/2 pound), what cheese and what condiments you want, although the a few of them cost $1 extra each. Usually when I want a good meal, I have to drive a bit to the city. This isn't the case with burger joint. It's really became my go to restaurant for when I want some great food nearby. The great thing about Burger Joint is that if knows what it is, and it does it damn well. It's not "artesian", or "perfect", it's a burger joint. And what a great one at that. The food, the staff, and the atmosphere only help perpetuate that feeling. Now, don't think that you have to get a burger here. In fact, you really can't fail. I recommend getting a hot dog, because they do those better than any other restaurant up to the drive to Lafayette. I also recommend getting a burger, because, well, that's what they do. You also need to get their vampire fries, only beaten by truffle fries from Townhouse in Detroit. You also really, really should get a milkshake, because I've never had a better one than that. Really, you're best off going with three close friends and eating each other's food, because you'll be missing out if you don't. WOW, let's start with the burger, firstly they were out of 109 steak burger ( how does a burger place run out of burger meat of any sort???) then the bottom bun was so soggy that when I attempted to pick it up the overly proportioned condiments were spilled all over my jeans. The patty itself was burned to a crisp on one side and almost completely raw on the other, I ordered it with cheese which I found none. I also asked for their so called famous burnt onions ( the ones on the burger were barely steamed) Their twice fried fries as they so proudly call them were so soggy that I couldn't even imagine trying to eat them, they gave me a stomach ache just looking at them ( plus they had a very strange darkness to them YUCK! ) Finally I ordered a root beer float to go with my meal in which I received a bottle of root beer when I asked if the ice cream came on the side I was told I was only rung up for root beer ( maybe he would have been able to hear me if they turned down the extremely loud music a smidgen ) All in all I think this was the WORST experience I've ever had at a food place. First and last visit for me. We shared with the gentleman behind the register that we had never been to The Burger Joint before and the gentleman just stood there and waited for us to give our order. The gentlemen that took our order overheard what I said the young girl and just said "can you move to another table so I can mark that one out of order? It wasn't broken this morning when we opened." I could not believe it. He then asked the girl if a bunch of young kids had been in and sat there. We moved tables.
