This is the spot for Tuesday nights y'all. I've never been here til last night and it was open mic stand up comedy. I think the show started at 8pm but we arrived around 9. Parking wasn't bad and there was tons of outdoor seating. I have come to understand this show can be hit or miss but man I'm all about the misses LOL. some comics were hilarious and clearly more experienced. Some read from their phone and stumbled the whole time. I thoroughly enjoyed the free entertainment. For drinks, I got a stout beer that was 15% alcohol by accident lol. They had a Good selection of craft beer in cans, and I was happy with my choice. We stayed til 1 but apparently they're open 24:7. What a great recipe to welcome Spring, March 20, 2021 at the Buzz Mill, clear blue skies with temps in the mid-70's and a lite afternoon snack from JNL BBQ. The Buzz Mill has a laid back vibe that reminds me of the San Francisco Bay Area especially Berkeley. It's very pet friendly with a water-station for one's pet. Now that you know that The Buzz Mill is Pet Friendly, it's also Human Friendly. Not only is it a 24/7 coffee shop but refreshments with authority, craft beers, whiskey infusions, and other alcoholic delights are offered as well. My favourite food truck at The Buzz Mill is JNL BBQ so I ordered the two meat plate, Al Pastor Pork Spareribs and Moist Beef Brisket with Mom's Green Beans and Potato Salad for sides and paired it with a JNL Smoked Peach Whiskey Infusion. I went here 5 years ago when visiting Austin and loved the breakfast tacos and coffee. The coffee this visit was just ok. I got the Honey Badger and the breakfast taco was still good. I'll start by saying I've only visited The Buzz Mill at night, during the Austin witches market. This review is based on those experiences. Ambience: Tucked away off Riverside near Dairy Queen, you'll find Buzz Mill. The interior offers limited seating and restrooms. The stars of the show are the amazing coffee bar and house infused liquors. They also offer a rotating selection of beers. The service: When I visited the lines were super long, but moved quick. Service was fine, though the wait for my chai was crazy. I ended having to remind the barista of my order, there were a ton of drinks made that came in after I did. The goods: Again, I went for the witches night market. Both visits were great. It's held in the outdoor space on site. There were tons of vendors offering everything from self care products to readings. There were multiple food trucks on site, though only one or two were open. I opted for the hibachi truck, I'd give it 2.5/5 stars. The wait was almost 45 minutes for my shrimp and chicken meal and it wasn't worth the $25 price tag. The vendors were excellent. I left with handmade soaps, candles, jewelry and crystals. Looking forward to the next event there. read more

I like the place and all, but it's not very kid-friendly. If you have little ones, you might not want to bring them here. The food trucks are good, and they have drinks inside. It has very nice and friendly staff. It has comedy and open mic nights too! It has a very cool and OG camp vibe. Again, I would recommend it if you don't have little ones with you. If you like bloody Mary's, try one here! It's not on the menu so I'm not sure if our bartender was just really good BUT he made us fantastic Bloody Mary's with pickle vodka on a Saturday afternoon. There were simply garnished with a salt rim, a lime, and a lemon. It was savory and fresh! I would definitely come here again to try their coffee and more drinks. I always pegged this place for a late night hole in the walk but an associate wanted to have a morning meeting there which I thought was odd till I got there. So my boyfriend and I have come here for coffee a few times, and it's 10/10. My body is like 80% caffeine, so I'm all about that red-eye life. You know when you down a black red-eye like it's the fru fru caramel apple butter latte your bf ordered... that's some good coffee. But also the latte is delightful and you should get that too. When we came in Friday morning, I noticed the many jars of infused liquors and was intrigued. I was seeing many whiskey//tequila options, which I'm into. So we went back later that evening to check out the patio and taste these concoctions. I went for the cherry vanilla whiskey and it was a 5/10 for me (ooofa strong stuff), but think it would be great in a diet cherry coke. My boyfriend went for a sour on draught which he rated 7/10. I don't know why I waited so long to write this review, but this place it so amazing, that, when I was there, I had an extensive conversation with the owner trying to convince him that he needs to open another one on the east coast just for me. Between the live music and the fire pit and the the amazing coffee and the custom cocktails with their own infused spirits... plus, you know, a BBQ food truck, how can you not think this is the best place on earth? There's also lots of live music and drinks you can have for a chill night out. This place has a couple food trucks - and the ones I saw tonught were all vegan. Ended up seeing vegan Mexican food and a vegan Asian food place which both looked good. I ended up going with the vegan burger one which hit the spot - called plow burger. I attended a happy hour meeting here, and while there, an artisan market was set up on the back patio. Very nice goods. Also, it was nice to have a few food trucks in the complex. We like the buzz mill. And attend the witches market when its there. The negatives are the bar tender we usually encounter is rude. (Really really rude) And my neice and several friends came to the market and had their vehicles towed by the vultures at j.j towing. We asked the manager about it and he said they tow people all the time. I know the buzz mill is not responsible for vehicles being towed by neighboring businesses but they are very aware of it. It would be extremely easy for them to post a sign warning customers that the assholes at DQ will tow them. I cant get anyone to come with me for fear of being charged $230.00. A simple sign... I told the homie behind the bar the beer here is great, but always slightly warm. it only took about 8 times coming here to realize the problem. Bartender gave me a sample of the beer and the shot glass was warm. Buzz Mill must keep their glasses next to some heater or energy unit that be making their glasses warm and thus my beer warm. It took me forever to finally go to Buzz Mill and I feel like an idiot for waiting so long. I walked in the front door and immediately felt home. I'd just woke up from a mid-day nap so I scored a delicious cold brew ( I was hoping they had nitro cold brew but they didn't. I was a but upset inside but the plain old cold brew they served me was to so damn tasty that I soon forgot I wanted anything else. Once the coffee was drinking I had a few whiskeys and met some nice folks. All of the patrons were friendly and everyone there seemed to be having the best time ever. The Buzz Mill has and air of contagious fun that radiates throughout the location. I could see myself stooping by every day for coffee and whiskey. Great venue for music, drinks, laughs, and an occasional cry (though not often because it's too friggin' awesome!). Do yourself a favor, if you've never been then go and have a nice time. Easily S tier bar in austin. (S is the highest tier). Great variety of beers on tap. Also cool cocktails. Also coffee and expresso if you want. The atmosphere is also great if you want a chill sit down place. The atmosphere is picnic table chic. So many bars have this vibe. What's impressive is that buzzmill does it best in my opinion. Especially since spider house has been closed. They have the Christmas lights but they're not overwhelming just festive. The music is always good too. Pretty mellow I like their selection of beers. Definitely not the Austin starter pack. But they have some fan favorites. I like the food trucks 3 options. They're all vegan but if you're into that you'll find tons f variety. The variety honestly better than the vegan food parks on ceasar and on airport. They have burgers, burritos, and dim sum. They're all good. They also have cool events stand up on Tuesdays and outdoor classes on Thursday. Really fun vibes. The most exciting was a stick carving class. I've been coming to Buzzmill for almost 3 years to study, get some coffee, and now get some drinks. I went in on Sunday with a friend and ended up running into some other friends there. The initial friend and I started a tab together and drank as the night went on. We thought we were having a good time as the staff was friendly. Until we went to go pay our tab. We were overcharged and as you can see overserved. The friend and I were still cognitive enough to function and pay our tab. The bartenders gained an attitude as we tried to pay. The card declined but it still took all I had from my account so I then transferred money to pay it off, but it wanted the total balance again. I finished paying and left, thinking nothing of it. Until again, one of the friends we ran into told us why they started acting that way. We ran up the biggest bar tab they had seen (that's what happens when you overcharge inebriated people) & that we tried leaving without paying our tab. Also, that the bartender(s) were complaining about making us complicated drinks even though the most complicated drink i ordered was a Bloody Mary Bear Mace infusion (which the bartender recommended). They didn't have certain items for shots we wanted, so we just ended up getting regular shots (vodka, jameson). Overall, this visit ended up being a mess and really could've ended up in alcohol poisoning or much worse. I got overcharged and now instead of buzz being the first place I want to go for a chill night, it won't be on my list again. A fkn shame bc I loved this place and their atmosphere. read more

Please be advised, the plowburger food truck that lists vegetarian items fries everything in the same oil as the meat. It is not vegetarian. This seems like really bad business to me. Dropped by here for the first time a year ago for a quick pick-me-up cold brew. This place does a strong cold brew, had me going for awhile. Come to find out that I would eventually move within walking distance of this place a year later. Dropped in on a Sat night and they had live music playing. I like that this place offers everything a nice coffee shop has, a fairly decent beer and holiday drink menu. Okay Campers! Grab Your Lattes and Ginger Infused Whiskeys and Let's Tie Knots! * * * The Buzz Mill is an odd establishment if there ever was one. It is a coffee house/bar/entertainment palace/fraternal lodge/all year summer camp. From a Yelp food reviewing standpoint, the coffee is excellent. The bar has about eighteen Russian-House-style big jars of infused whiskey/infused gin/infused tequila/infused whatever. These big jars of infused goodness drew my attention immediately - but I was there at ten in the morning. Everyone was working hard on their computers, the way all good campers should be. So those lovely jars will have to wait for another occasion. But the espresso is one of the better espressos in Austin. * * * The food review covers maybe 5% of what Buzz Mill is all about. The Buzz Mill wants to be the neighborhood community center for all of the neighborhoods within two miles of the establishment. They have an aerial map with a circle drawn on it to show you exactly which neighborhoods they mean. Now frankly, ladies and gentlemen, there are a lot of neighborhood bars in Austin - and many of them serve quite nicely as "centers of their community." Little Woodrow's does that for North Lo-Burn. B.B. Rovers does that for Barrington Oaks. Boomerz does that for Oak Hill. What makes Buzz Mill distinctive is a) how explicitly over the top they are about this theme b) the fact that they are more or less going after Austin weirdies and c) the dominant summer camp theme. The bar itself is decorated in a log cabin summer camp theme. They offer "The Lumber Society" With Four Troops - Owl, Raccoon, Mallard and Beaver Each with its own distinctive handshake and each with its own distinctive activities. You work on merit badges. You go camping. You take workshops in topics like fire building and archery. I have never been big about combining craft beer with archery - But apparently they have the safety issues all worked out. (At a minimum, many members of your troop have their first aid badges.) The Lumber Society sort of satisfies a need that in an earlier generation was covered by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, or the Freemasons, or the Knights of Columbus. Except the members of the Lumber Society don't look like your grandparents and they let in both sexes. Both of these are improvements. I would rather be tossed into a pot of molten lava than go camping - and I have too many places to Yelp review to want to come back to the same bar all the time. But I can see how for some people this would be amazingly cool. The espresso is good and the whiskey looks good - So you may want to check out the Buzz Mill just for the experience. read more
