Promising format, beautiful redo of an icon, and serious chops in the kitchen led us to Friday night reservations and dinner with friends. First off, my wife made reservations requesting outside dining, and confirmed days before we came. When we arrived, we mentioned our request and were told we had been booked in the Private dining room. We were led through the New Bar area (well done), through the main dining area ( beautiful), and led downstairs to the basement. Very ordinary and close quarters with tables in an enclosed space. Started with cocktails and wine, which took 20 minutes to arrive, then ordered. Fried crab fritters and onion soup. Onion soup first rate, would order again. Crab critters not so much, excellent crab surrounded by tasteless Panko crunch that masked the crab. Main courses- trout world class- very tasty and well presented. Lobster pasta, tasty but arrived at the table warm to cool. Not special. Snapper dish -dry, overcooked, and very subpar. Desserts - a puff pastry that was beautiful on presentation but almost tasteless. Poor textures combined to make an undesirable dish. Pecan pie a better choice. Conclusion- some good dishes, some poor dishes, exaggerated by the distance to the kitchen that took time and cooled plates before they could get to us. Won't return soon. read more

Beware if you book via Resy! The restaurant will charge you $25 person for canceling within 48 hrs no matter what! Booked a 5:30p resy, had to cancel last min due to pregnancy issues... a month later I got a bill saying that I was charged $100 for canceling. Spoke to manager - told they make no exceptions. Very unfortunate.. and lost a customer! Understand the troubles restaurants faced during height of covid to set such rules to help, at this point they're taking advantage of customers. Read the fine print. 'May trigger fee for canceling' means they will charge you. read more

Kind of rude and pushy. Just stopped to get some coffee and they were a little busy. Drink was good, but the attitude that came from the bartender/barista was not. Not to mention the valet person was a little pushy and took a while to convince him I was just going to get coffee and didn't need to valet. TL:DR - don't bother Probably one of the most dissatisfying experiences I've had. I feel bad for the wait staff and hostesses because it is SO clear that management needs to be replaced. We had a reservation for 8:15 pm, we were not seated until 9 pm and it didn't seem like anyone was concerned about the fact that we had to wait nearly an hour when we had a reservation. No one wants to be *that* person in a restaurant... but you do expect to be seated within 15-20 mins of your reserved time. Once seated, we ordered our drinks/appetizers; after we had eaten our appetizers & ordered our main course, they brought us a bunch of "complementary items" that we never ordered in the first place, none of which we actually wanted. The "chef" apparently said that one of the complimentary items was vegan but there was shredded cheese all over it soooooo, it wasn't. It's completely fine for a restaurant to have limited vegan options, just don't tell us something is vegan when it obviously is not. None of the "vegan offerings" were on the online menu, and we were celebrating birthdays so we brought our own vegan dessert hoping that we could have it cut and served along with ordered desserts. This didn't happen. They brought the whole cake to the table (uncut) with no way for us to cut it or share it or serve it.... and this is a service fee. In conclusion, just skip it. read more

I've been here on multiple occasions for a simple place to have coffee, and get work done. The coffee is fine, the pastries are delicious. The service is good. It's mostly about the ambiance. If you're coming to sit and stay for a while, you may be asked to valet park. Yes, even on a Thursday at 09:30am. There is no set schedule on their website of when they do and don't have valet parking. I recommend street parking and walking over. read more

Uninspired menu, mediocre execution, below average service, and did I mention over priced? I will say the ambiance is nice, that is if you can see past all of the people they CRAM into the patio. We sat outside in the oak room and it was very cute and cozy, my only complaint would be the heat was a little much for a nice dinner. I ordered the tomato basil soup, burger, and chocolate chip cookie and I can't think of a bad thing to say about any of them! Great location but need to have a reality check. Everyone is complaining about the prices and lack of servers but for a Coffee all should be good, right. The girls working were awesome, paid $40 for 2 toast, 2 coffees and a treat. Forgot to order water. Oh wait there is a charge of $1.00 for each water in a cup. We were really excited to finally get to try The Chastain. The Horseradish grill was a fav, so we had high expectations. It did nothing live up to the hype. We ordered a glass of wine each and it took them 55 minutes to bring them to the table. We asked the waitress since it took so long, if she could comp them and she said the manager said no. We then ordered and the food was even more disappointing. We ordered our first course which took 30 minutes after our wine. One of our salads has a hair in it, but we were too hungry to send it back. The main course came 45 minutes later and were cold. We asked the waitress why everything was taking so long and she gave us 1 free dessert for all 6 of us to split. The free dessert took another 20 minutes. Overall, not looking to spend 2.5hrs here with one drink and cold food. I wish I could say something better about breakfast service, but no. read more

My husband and I took our chances coming in without a reservation last night for our first experience at The Chastain, and we ended up sitting at the bar from 5:30-10:30!! The food, service, and bartenders were incredible! Phillip and Adam curated drinks like works of art. For the spirit enthusiasts, they are extremely well versed and enjoyable to learn from and talk with. The Peach Burrata was incredibly delicious flavorful. The new owner has done a fantastic job renovating the old building to reflect todays designs and architecture. They have done an equally fine job selecting their staff. The menu however lacked any creativity for a special night out in a beautiful part of Atlanta. The ingredients were fresh but sadly the combinations fell short. We can only hope that reviews like this are taken seriously and the menu steps up to what we hope the chef's talents reflect. read more

First dinner and so anticipating. 6 pm reservation but were totally rushed to order our entire dinner at once by our server. No bread served. My friend and I missed Christmas together and wanted to catch up, as well as enjoy and take in the new space. Didn't have a chance as we were ushered out in 90 minutes. Obvi, getting the 6 pm diners out for the 7 seatings. And main course was dropped off to her empty seat while she was away. I was shocked. At the next table server asking for the full dinner order as well. Awkward as servers had to keep taking breaks to come back when everyone decided the full dinner and wine. Excellent location for a business dinner. Staff was fantastic for working with my group and getting us a last-minute table. The dinner itself was divine, in particular the salmon tartare, hamachi collar, and mushroom campanelle. The wagyu was a little underwhelming, as the waiter could not tell me the grade of the wagyu (A5, etc.) and it came out slightly over. However, the rest of the meal made up for it. read more

Totally disappointed. Made reservation weeks in advance for inside table. Got there on time and were ushered to a basement table which they called the wine cellar. We've been to Napa, this is not a wine cellar, it's a basement with zero ambiance. We requested a table in the main area and were told none were available because the thunderstorms moved people inside. Why weren't these folks seated the the wine cellar versus our reservation (for our anniversary BTW). We had a drink ($35 for two mixed drinks) and left. Apologies from management were insufficient. We will never return. Advice to all: make sure you request to NOT sit in the 'wine cellar'. Geez...... read more

Horseradish Grill has been one of my favorites for years. Stopped in to check out the new restaurant at lunch. Disappointed to see they don't really have a lunch menu. Ordered avocado toast and a glass of champagne. Again disappointed to see they don't serve alcohol during the day. I got my coffee which was very good. Waited 15 minutes for toast. Went in to ask about it . They checked with the kitchen and received it in another 5 minutes. It was very delicious. The staff was very nice. They need to work out some kinks! read more

My wife and I had been wanting to try The Chastain for some time. We had purchased tickets to a concert and decided it would be the perfect time to pair a nice dinner with a concert. The food was fantastic, the service as well. We started with the tempura okra, then the trout and mushroom campanelle pasta for our entrees, and the sweet potato fingerlings as a side. The okra was cooked perfectly, the trout was delicious and the presentation delightful. My wife said her pasta was the best she'dvhad in a long time. The sweet potato fingerlings with feta was unique. I personally enjoyed them, my wife wasn't as big a fan. We ended the dinner with the pineapple doughnuts and coconut sorbet. I went for dinner for the first time last night. I ordered the burger and it was excellent. The service, however, wass slow and the entrees took way over an hour to get to the table. The host did apologize for the wait. The restaurant is very loud--not the best choice if you are with a group and want to be able to hear everyone at the table. This restaurant has real potential, but they've got some details to iron out to become a top shelf competitor in their price range. read more

I've been coming here for breakfast with my girlfriends since the opening of this place and my experiences have progressively gotten worse. I have always accepted that I would pay $30 for a breakfast sandwich, coffee, and pastry. However, with this cost I expect some courtesy to the customers. Since opening, they now have valet service for the morning. I was fine (annoyed, yes but I accepted it) paying valet, but this morning was my final straw with this place. After paying $30 to have a breakfast, we were about to go on a quick walk beside the restaurant and the valet drivers forced me to move my car! They said I couldn't leave it there just for a quick walk. Mind you, I just overpaid for breakfast and I couldn't leave my car there, which I tipped valet . So the valet guy made me pack up my infant and stroller to move my car down a block. You would think they had some decency to let me park for a short time. Also let me add, it's a weekday morning and the parking lot is nowhere near full. This place sucks. Treat your customers better. read more

The definition of snobby and pretentious. Management is horrible and Obnoxious. On one occasion they charged everyone in our party $10 per piece for cutting a birthday cake that we brought in. They did not even cut it for us. Another time they tried to charge us $1200 as a minimum for a party of eight. Food is average. Nice location. It's a shame that everyone there is pretentious and the management and staff are so unfriendly. Will never go back. Ever read more

I liked this place. Good food, nice outdoor seating. Hamburgers are addictive. Everything is nicely done. Minuses are minor. Still water carafes are a great idea but the water serving every few minutes was a bit over the top. I asked for a piece of bread with my soup and pasta. They said they sell a basket. With everyone else eating burgers we weren't going to order a basket of bread. $175 later (without drinks) I think they could have given me a piece of bread. Oh well, we'll be back read more

At first we were charmed by the ambience of this newly decorated restaurant., Allthough it was , very noisy, the staff worked to get us in a quieter booth. Our waitress, Morrow, was delightful and tried very hard to please. My complaint is, the cost of the drinks. My Manhattan was $19.50 and my husbands makers bourbon on the rocks, was $16.00. This is not New York, and my drink cost more than me entree. I would not return to this restaurant because of the price gouging on alcohol. read more
