The Cheeseboard really just captures you right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cute displays and decor as you walk in, immediately put me in a good mood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone is very friendly and helpful at the counter. After you order, you get the cute wooden number for your table. The jams on the cheese board are super yummy as they are usually a fruit with some spice to them. You can also get these for home, which I do. This is a good place to get a sandwich and soup also. With the name, not everyone might realize that but I am often getting a tuna sandwich or a chicken salad croissant for lunch. Also to note, make sure to check the board for the specials as they can be a good treat. Just like the recent rosemary cranberry mimosa! And currently in the desserts, the Andes mint brownie is delightful, rich chocolate taste with a little of the cooling mint on top. I like the ice tea bar. When you order, you get your glass with ice and have 3 teas to choose from in beautiful glass jars.

This restaurant was recommended for a light lunch. I went with my wife for a glass of wine and sandwich. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area is not huge so I can imagine it gets pretty full at time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On my visit (weekday) it was about half full--I'm guessing it was people who work in the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the Hot Pastrami sandwich which included chips. It was good but it seemed a bit pricey to not include fries or a salad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The venue is nice and the service is friendly so i guess I'll include that in my value calculation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've always loved Cheese Boards catering, I get it at work about once every 2-3 weeks. The sandwiches are great, the little desserts are great, and even the salad is great. Well I finally got the chance to go in and try the California Avenue location, and I was super stoked about it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So this place is really nice inside, it's awesome that it has a parking lot, and I loved seeing the full menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was all great, the Hot Pastrami was AWESOME, and the prices are also quite good. Where I do have to pull my 5 star back to a 4 is for what I experienced today with the kitchen area. The girl at the front working register was very friendly, no issues there at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The issue is with the extremely loud hardcore explicit rap music blaring from a crackly old blown out JBL speaker facing directly from the kitchen to the dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is just extremely unprofessional for any restaurant, especially with kids sitting in there trying to enjoy their meals as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The worst part is their was actually normal relaxing music playing in the dining room itself, but this was just blaring from the kitchen/dish area so we were sitting there listing to expletives and n bombs every few words, all while it was competing over the other music as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I still gotta give Cheese Board 4 stars, the sandwiches are great, and the ambiance could have been really awesome, but someone has to have a talk with the kitchen staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If the doors aren't soundproof, the music has to either be the same continuation of the dining area, you gotta wear a headphone, or you gotta put that jenky red JBL in a corner, on lower volume, facing the other direction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even if I wasn't with my kids, I would have went and sat outside if it wasn't raining. Not music for eating a sandwich at 11am, time and a place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute and quaint place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Order and the counter then seat yourself and they bring it to you style. Everything is fresh and tasty. I had the Tomato Basil Soup and it was very good. Much more of a texture soup than your typical tomato soup. I also had the Bacon Apple Grilled Cheese. It was delicious. All that paired with a nice Pinot Noir. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place for a quick bite or a lovely lunch date![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

One of my favorite work day lunch spots. The trio is the perfect lunch date meal. A little bit of everything- soup, salad, and the best grilled cheese in Reno. They are very accommodating to GF diets as well. The Italian meatball soup was dairy free and delicious. I love that it had chicken meatballs since I don't eat pork. The staff is always friend and their coffee is slept on. I had a hot Mexican Mocha and it was one of the better mochas I've had in Reno.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots in town. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is always chill and the food is delicious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their soup and salad combos are elite. I didn't get it this time, but their chicken salad is a must. The tea options out are great, especially during summer. The employees have always been kind and attentive.

The cheeseboard was a great little lunch spot. The menu had many lunch choices and everything was super fresh a large portions. Sandwiches come with soup or salad. Definitely a place we will come back to when in the area!

Sunrise Mimosa
Alexa K.

Enjoyed this cute lunch spot on a sunny weekend afternoon. Plenty of seating was available both outdoors and indoors. The seating is open, with the ordering of food and drinks taking place inside at the counter. We decided to share a sandwich and salad, with a mimosa to share as well. The ordering process was a little frustrating as I requested the Turkey Focaccia sandwich with the side of chips it comes with, in addition to two side salads. I was told I wasn't able to do this because the side salads only come with create your own sandwiches (I think?) so was told to just order a normal house salad to split. I was fine with this solution, and confirmed the chips would still be included. I also ordered the Sunrise Mimosa (with orange juice and blood orange flavors) which was refreshing. Water is self serve inside. The meal ended up being served without the chips. It's not a big deal, but I had confirmed at the counter a few times that it would still be included with the additional salad I was purchasing. Also, this was a pricey meal. One sandwich, one salad, and one mimosa, plus tip, had me out the door at $42. I'm just glad we decided to share this lunch, or it would have been much more expensive.

Smoked Turkey Focaccia

I visited the cheeseboard for the first time over the winter. I had taken my bike to the store and had a lovely experience. I got the turkey focaccia and it was delicious. The focaccia bread was warm and soft. I love they have flat sandwich pickles. And a balance of all flavors with each bite. It was more on the expensive side per sandwich, but I would consider it a more artisan treat than you're running the mill deli.

The service was excellent. Register and waiter all very nice. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Sandwich is very big, had to take a box. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was not loud in there at all and was a nice chill vibe overall for the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First time in Reno and this place has made a good impression on me so far.

It was such a beautiful day.... where can we eat outside?…read more I found "The Spot", its in the old Smee's location on the river. When we showed up, we asked if we could sit at a table outside, the guy was a little overwhelmed, he said "I can sit you in 10 mins". I said "can we have this table". OK, but....just know I'll be with you as soon as I get caught up, I'm totally fine with that I said. . He bought us a couple menus to look over. Then a table on the railing with shade opened up, I didn't care about the table was dirty with dishes, so we decided to move. I love to look at the river and watch the people go by. The server said, I'll be over soon! He was never so happy when Sierra showed up to help him out. He came over to our table I said "I hope you don't mind, I moved to be in the shade, I know I'm one of those pain in the ass customers". Then he started joking with me and it was the perfect ice breaker. My server and part owner's name is Casey! He is an awesome guy and such a hard worker to ensure his customers are taken care of. I love that. We had a couple beers, he has quite the selection of beers on tap, he supports the community breweries such as Lead Dog and Revisions. My husband had the breakfast burrito $13, it was huge with homemade tortilla chips with salad and guacamole. I had the fish and chips. You get three large pieces of fish, fries and yummy coleslaw. I love how they put the tater sauce and ketchups in personal cups for you that shows class. My fish was absolutely delicious better than the old Smees and especially the new location. You get a nice meal for $20. They have indoor, outdoor, bar seating. They have a little merch area and a gaming bar if you feel lucky. I know the Open Championship Bowlers are in town, if you're looking for nice comfort food "tavern style" location this is the place for you on the Reno Riverwalk 50 N Sierra. It upstairs.

After some searching The Spot is what caught our eye. Located by the river and where Reef and Smees used to be. including what you ordered or used, Since this was a new spot we decided to just order and share a ton of appetizers. This included: cup of cream of mushroom soup, pretzel bites, spinach dip, poutine fries and Brussel sprouts. 2/5 were a huge hit where the orders we would not try again. Cup of mushroom soup: cup size is a good appetizer portion, good mushroom taste but WAY too salty. Would not order again. Pretzel bites: SUPER YUM! Slightly crunchy at the corners and fluffy inside. Perfectly bite sized and great dips (cheese and mustard). Loved these and would absolutely order again. Spinach dip: not a fan. The one thing I did like about this is that the dip portion was extremely generous, but I was not a fan of the taste. For me it was like slightly watered down sour cream. You have the options of chips or baguette. We went with baguette and for the first time in my life, the dipping vessels were very scant compared to the amount of dip so if anyone orders this, I would recommend it with chips. Would not order again. Poutine fries: YUM! Definitely a shareable portion. Thin fries topped with yummy breaded cheese curds and piping hot gravy this was my favorite thing. The gravy was perfectly salted and I loved the breaded cheese curds. I do wish the fries were thicker, like a wedge cut but honestly these were insanely good. Will order again. Brussel sprouts: made with bacon which is always a must for that yummy flavor. Also drizzled with balsamic which is a win in my book. These were very tender and delicious but very oily or greasy which kind of gave me the ick but flavor was definitely there. Will not order again. We were seated immediately upon arriving and waters were brought out. Orders were taken quickly and food came out quick! However after the food came out, no one came to check on us, see how we were doing or clear plates. We were always having to flag someone down for refills, napkins and the check. It wasn't busy. The inside is clean, has a large bar area and outdoor seating. Also lots of TVs. I don't think I'll be returning, but I do recommend the poutine fries and pretzel bites. Things to note: Have to walk up stairs to enter. No private parking lot, have to street park and a lot of parking is metered. 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday - Saturday & free on Sundays / holidays.

The riverside setting made for a relaxing atmosphere and was a great place to spend a summer afternoon. We started with the Crab & Salmon Cakes, and they were outstanding. The presentation was beautiful, and each cake had a perfectly crisp exterior while remaining delicate inside. You could clearly taste both the crab and salmon, and the slightly spicy aioli complemented them perfectly without overpowering the seafood. For cocktails, I ordered the Tequila Mockingbird, and it was excellent. The mezcal's smoky flavor came through clearly, almost reminding me of a good Scotch, yet it had just enough sweetness to keep it balanced. If you enjoy spirit-forward cocktails that aren't overly sweet, I'd highly recommend it. My wife ordered the Razz Jazz and later the Rosé All Day. She loved the Razz Jazz, describing it as refreshing, lightly sweet, and lemony, with enough alcohol flavor to remind you it's a cocktail without being overpowering. The Rosé All Day was another refreshing choice and perfect for a warm afternoon on the patio. For lunch, we ordered the French Dip and the Tri-Tip Sandwich. The French Dip was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the rich au jus. The Tri-Tip Sandwich was loaded with smoky, well-seasoned beef on fresh bread. It was a bit richer than I personally prefer, but the quality of the meat was undeniable. The fries were a standout in their own right, perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and seasoned just right. Wild River Grille isn't the least expensive lunch in town, but the quality of the food, expertly crafted cocktails, attentive service, and beautiful riverside patio made it feel well worth the price. There was a list of specials for the day too. - For a place that has "wine" in the name, I thought the wine list was a bit limited/uninspired...the reds, for example, were heavily focused on CA wines, with a few Italian ones thrown in. - My wife and I ordered the Bee Sting Pizza, the Pistachio Pesto Arancini, and the Wedge Salad...all to share between the two of us. While everything was good, the Wedge Salad was the standout, with the Arancini's a close second (and a great sized portion). One of our friends ordered the Salmon special, and it looked good but pretty small in size considering the ~$40 price tag. - Service was good. There was a mess up where the server didn't hear our friend's order correctly and brought the wrong item, but she fixed it although it meant that he didn't his food for a while after the rest of us started eating. It was an honest error, but it would be good if the staff were empowered to do some kind of goodwill gesture, e.g., a free drink, a free appetizer while he's waiting for the food, etc., when something like that happens. - There was a weird thing that happened on our bills...the total that was on the itemized bill that we got from our server didn't match up with the pre-transaction processing fee total that was on our credit card copy...and, unfortunately, our server couldn't explain why. And, yes, there is a 2.5% credit card transaction fee added on (which we didn't see on the menu or anywhere else, but we learned about when we got the itemized bill). - Vibe is just ok...it's pretty loud and the tile floor and tables/chairs felt a little cafeteria-like. I wouldn't call it cozy by any means. Bottom line: Liberty Food & Wine Exchange was a nice place to meet up and the food was tasty...when I asked my wife if she would go back again, her answer was that we should try other places first, which is probably what we'll do.

We ordered the Imperial Japanese Chicken Wings, the Frenchified Burger, and an order of poutine. The star of the meal was the chicken wings with the wasabi ranch dipping sauce. The seasoned shoestring fries served alongside were also excellent. The burger was very good, but it was essentially meat, sauce, and cheese. I like a little freshness on my burgers, so I was missing some lettuce and tomato. Fortunately, I substituted a salad for the fries and ended up piling most of it onto the burger. Next time, I'll just ask for those toppings to be added. The poutine, however, didn't quite live up to the versions I've had elsewhere. I'm not sure if they used white cheddar curds, but they were almost completely melted instead of retaining that signature squeaky texture. The gravy was just okay, and I don't think shoestring fries are the best choice for poutine since they don't hold up as well under the toppings. Overall, I'd definitely come back--especially for the wings and another burger.
