I am Deaf, so I typed my order in the Notes app on my phone to communicate with the barista. After waiting for a while, I asked if my order was ready. He pointed to a drink, but it wasn't what I had ordered. I showed him my note again, but he just kept pointing at the wrong drink. It felt like he had no patience with me because I was communicating through my phone instead of speaking. My mom then stepped in and verbally explained my order. He said he would remake my drink and told us we could keep the incorrect one for free. We waited again for quite a while. Eventually, I politely asked for a refund because the wait had become too long. Another barista ended up making my correct drink, but the original barista seemed upset. My mom took the incorrect drink because we had been told it was free. Then, the same barista suddenly changed his mind and yelled at my mom to bring it back. That was very unprofessional and upsetting. I've always enjoyed coming here, but this experience made me feel disrespected as a Deaf customer. Needed a caffeine fix while shopping with teenagers. Coffee Bean was the first shop I came across so I jumped right in line. A smiling and very polite young man greeted me at the counter and took my order; a simple iced vanilla latte. The price point for the drink was $6.25, pretty standard. I was not happy about seeing the extra $0.90 for milk substitute when I requested almond milk. I took a mental note about the fee but didn't make any changes to my order. I wanted to be petty about the upcharge but reigned myself in when my drink was made rather promptly and it tasted better than I had expected. A little sweet but the espresso was strong and not overwhelmed by the vanilla syrup. Quality customer service and quality food/drink items go a long way with me so I'll overlook the upcharge for this review. I had a gift card to spend so I decided to place my order online. I got a caramel ice blended drink and the total came out to $5 because there was a promotion going on. After I ordered, the coffee bean app said that it would be ready in 10 minutes so I just stayed around the area in case it was ready before the 10 minutes were up. I was waiting for my name to be called but it was never called it out. I went up to the pick up station to check with the barista to see how much longer it will be when I noticed it had been more than 10 minutes, but I saw there was a drink that looked like an ice blended sitting on the counter. I wasn't sure if it was even mine because they didn't say who it was for nor was there a name written on the cup. Thankfully, the drink turned out to be mine, but who knows how long my drink was sitting there, ready to be picked up because none of the baristas bothered to call out my name. In fact person who took my order made no eye contact and was short with me getting my order. Rude and robotic off the bat, we had no conversation prior to me placing the order, i had only a few moments been looking at the menu but didn't walk up to the counter to order until they opened at 930am. It was the shorter darker hair of the 2 women who was working this morning. (This place gets points for the drink, which was really good). First order of the day and you're already a grouch? Eeeep. This is only regarding the food. I tried the Too Good to Go app for the first time here and so got 3 items. They're all awesome seeming and delicious at first, but when I got home to check: Food: -spinach egg white wrap; was soggy and rotten, it tasted funky and had little specks on it already -protein box: the egg in this was beginning to get weird smelling, so didn't finish -caprese sandwich: there was mold on the edge of the cheese.. I understand it was the too good to go program but they grabbed these from the display case around 5:45p when I went for a pick up so it was still selling to customers. Service was excellent. Associates were very nice and greeted with big smiles. I visited the day of a promo; $4 blended iced mocha. I was ordering 2, but the associate said the promo is only 1 per order, but I did have a 1/2 off offer. In the end my order only came out to $5.00 which made me extremely happy. I was very disappointed with my visit to the Santa Anita Mall Coffee Bean today around 4:40 PM. I ordered a large iced vanilla latte with an extra espresso shot, but because the cup was filled with ice, only part of my coffee mixture fit. When I politely asked for the remaining portion, the barista and another staff member refused and threw it away, even though I had paid for it. The drink I received was watered down, and I felt dismissed and humiliated as a customer. read more

It's been a while since I've been to Coffee Bean so when I saw they had a Vietnamese cold brew coffee and a BOGO promotion, I thought it was the perfect time to revisit Coffee Bean. The one in the Arcadia mall was the closest to me and I stopped by during the weekday. The wait wasn't too long to order and to receive my drink. Very helpful employee taking my order too. Unfortunately, that's all that's good with Coffee Bean. The bad was that: 1) they would not take my reusable tumbler for the coffee (hence why I go to Starbucks for coffee and local mom and pop shops that take my reusable cups for boba) 2) the Vietnamese cold brew coffee was not good at all. Tasted neither like Vietnamese coffee nor cold brew. On my rankings of coffee chains, just barely above Dunkin' and way below Starbucks. Not sure I'll be back to Coffee Bean anytime soon. I used to order their iced blended drinks all the time in college but now that I can't drink that much grams of sugar in a drink per day, there's nothing drawing me back here. Sorry! =/ read more

COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. The staff also wear gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has no outdoor seating available with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between customers. While I was grabbing my drink from this establishment yesterday, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: This establishment is located inside the Westfield Santa Anita mall, so parking can be pretty difficult. However, during the pandemic, parking is super easy. Plenty of parking spots to choose from. Take your pick. Food: I didn't order any food, but I did get a drink. I ordered the matcha latte. It was pretty good. Not super sweet. I know that there are locations on Oahu, but none are convenient for me. My friend, Lyla, sent me information about the app and I installed it, but never used it until now because... I hadn't eaten all day, so I was open to any suggestion. An email from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf popped up on my notifications. It said that I could get a $3 Regular Sized Blended Drink during Social Hour. Okay! I'll try it! I went up to the helpful cashier who named all of the flavors that I could choose from. I picked matcha since it seemed the healthiest...lol! I liked it! Not too bitter, not too sweet, and refreshingly cool on a relatively warm Southern California afternoon! If hygiene is important to you, you might want to try a different place. The mall has only been open for an hour, so there's no reason for dirty counters, lackluster service and warm coffee. This review is for the CBTL at the Arcadia mall. My GF and I have been here many times. The good: Convenient location and drinks are delicious. I've been drinking Starbucks matcha lattes consistently for 15+ years. These are better. The bad: Employees are relatively indifferent. They request a name for the order, but there are no names or stickers on the cups. Nobody knows whose drinks are whose at the pick-up counter. This is a VERY easy fix. Management is completely apathetic and won't fix it, thus a steady parade of mediocre reviews that result in no improvements. Somebody slept through Business 101. read more

Always like their tea offerings. Last year our son got us their tea set with varieties from China, Sri Lanka, and England. Delicious for our breakfast as afternoon tea. After shopping at the mall, we stopped by to get our favorite tropical ice tea. The tea was very aromatic and tasty. I like the small ice balls they used for the tea which keep the tea cold and easy to drink. Besides tea, their coffees are very good. I prefer their coffee over Starbucks. While I was in Singapore for a business trip, I drank their coffee almost everyday which kept me awake in the hot weather. If you're Hungary, like Starbucks, they also offer sandwiches and pastries. I like their chicken wrap the best. It's healthy and tasty. The only thing with this tea and coffee chain is that they don't have that many shops around. You have to travel to get to one of them. We went on memorial day, there was a buy one get on free for ice blended coffee drinks. We got 4 of them hazelnut, dark chocolate, midnight cookies and cream, and midnight cookies and cream with almond milk. The midnight cookies and cream kind of taste like chocolate milk, the coffee taste isn't that strong. We also bought a small cheese cake with it. I ordered tropical iced tea as I do at least once a week. The lid was not closed right so I spilled on myself, there were no napkins to be found so I asked for some, and it took a few minutes till the person gave it to me. Then I tasted the iced tea and it was not tropical so I told the lady who had helped me that it was not tropical ice tea and she said "I am sorry you can't taste it but it is tropical" then I had my son taste it just to confirm and he said it was not tropical. So she said, would you like a refund? I said yes so when I went to get the refund, I told her I just want you to know that I order this all the time and this is not tropical iced tea. It must be miss labeled. I said you don't care do you she goes you're right I don't and then she gave me my refund and I walked away. That was the most horrible experience ever. read more

Not so nice staff member I had a horrible encounter with a female staff member she was working on 11/11/24 from 11:00-2:00pm with 2 braids and a black bandana. I waited 30min for my drink just to then see that they made my drink wrong after I had asked if my drink was ready, she tried saying it was my fault and that I ordered it iced blended when I never said blended I only said iced, and while I was waiting 30 min for my drink after waiting 30min in line I asked for a cup of water before the male staff member could even answer me she cuts him off and tells me I need to get back in the long line and pay the 25 cents for a water shortly after that a separate customer asks the male staff member for a cup of ice and he serves it to him I then ask if I can have my water since that man didn't even pay for his and the rude female staff member chimes in again and says he prepaid when he did not because she wasn't even there to see which customer it was, when she did finally give me my drink she didn't even acknowledge me or tell me it was mines and I had to ask her if this was my new drink Also my dad had tipped them $7 before all this rudeness happened which he regretted My coffee bean near me would never treat me this way read more

Staff Members ignore costumers that are waiting in line. while they have conversations with others, just holding up the line. When it's busy I understand that drinks can take up to 40mins to make, but when it's not busy at all.... u waited up to 30mins & they were just Chitt chatting about whatever randomness such as make up & not brewing the coffee I ordered. I had to remind the young employee that I had ordered about 22 mins prior & no one else had been in front or behind me in line to take that long. she just gave me a look. Terrible Terrible Terrible. Never got my free drink. Horrible service. Never have I seen customers treated so disrespectfully. Many customers were complaining about their orders taking too long. When someone asked where their drink was, the customer got yelled at by the employee. When she complained to the manager, she said go ask him. She was not friendly at all. The worker making the drinks kept dropping spoons, equipment, and other items used to make the drinks on the floor. When the guy hit the ice scooper bucket, it fell on the floor and was not washed! Every time a customer asked where their order was, they got yelled at by the employees and said they were really busy. I was afraid to ask where my drink was. Sure enough, when I asked I got yelled at by an employee. When I mentioned that I understood they were busy but the way they were talking to the customers was disrespectful, I got yelled at again. "What did I do, what did I do?" was the reply from the worker. I was just attempting to get my free drink and could not even get it because when I asked, I would get yelled at. I was not the only customer who was getting frustrated due to the experience and extremely poor service. I will not be ordering from this location.
