Finally! A better hot chicken option in this side of town. This place has been open for a while now but due to covid I had to postpone my trip for these rib and tenders. If you are not a spicy food fan but still want to try their food do not worry as they have different heat level of spicy to none. Ribs are applewood smoked while chicken tenders are tender. I ordered their half rib + 2 tenders w/ 1 side option for $16. It can easily be shared with another person but I am not about that life at this moment. :p I believe my visit is 6 weeks post first opening their dining room back up. I like mine with a little texture but until flavor was good. Coleslaw l was the biggest surprise. I'm a big fan of creamy slaw but most times it falls short on flavor, not this time. The fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned well. I went with the mild and it was not quite as hot as I wanted, but I heard the Tx-Hot was on the verge of being too spicy, I'll try it next time. My husband ordered Cookshack on the company's dime while working overtime, and it smelled so good I had to have a bite. That bite turned into me stealing half of his food lol. We decided to check out the restaurant in person since fried chicken is so much better fresh out of the fryer, and oh my goodness. The chicken is HEAVENLY. I am not a chicken tenders fan but Cookshack converted me, the various spice levels more than make up for the fact that they don't do dark meat. I actually really enjoy the food. The service on the other hand is consistently bad. The people who work the counter--on several visits--don't even acknowledge you're there, turn around, chat with other people, shuffle togo sauce cups around, and finally begrudgingly turn around and ask if you want to place an order. The f-bombs when she doesn't think you can hear them are also particularly tasteful. I wish I could say this experience has been unique...the food is actually good so I have eaten here several times. The Cookshack has a small parking lot and I happened to get a spot just as someone was leaving. The restaurant was pretty packed when I arrived. Not a lot of seating, but they do have "bar seating". I got the chicken sandwich, not hot, and fries for my first time here. It comes with pickles and slaw on the sandwich. The chicken is very crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I do t usually like pickles on chicken sandwiches, however, this was very good. It is a pretty good size of sandwich with the chicken bigger than the bun. I did end up eating about a third of the chicken without the bun as I was getting full. I did eat all of the chicken...it was very good. I liked that the manager and another staff member went by each table, checking on the customer....so pleasant! The folks who started this place have a hit on their hands. If you've never experienced "Nashville Hot Chicken," this is a great place to start. Get ready for intense flavor. Expect few parking spaces and long lines, but service is pretty quick. Order at the counter, take a number, and the food is delivered to your table. I like spicy chicken, and the medium heat level delivered. I also tried the Texas Hot, which is probably too intense for me (I could no longer taste the chicken..or anything else). The "AMF" heat level is just insane. You might as well stick your tongue in powered reaper and ghost pepper. The Dragon Fries are delicious, lightly dusted with scorpion pepper powder.
