No one greeted us they saw us the lady in the red shirt looked me in my face walked to the back and we were like okay, so how does this work. This place is sick. As Julianne said it is definitely a mix of casual family friendly dining and the full service bar does not detract from that one bit. The music playing was also perfect. It doesn't feel like someone just threw on a Restaurant 2022-23 mix filled with pop radio songs. I came here on a football Sunday after checking out a few other places that were packed to the brim, and this was perfect. I chose to sit at the bar and was helped instantly by Calvin. Super sweet guy, and made sure everyone was taken care of. I ordered the firebird sandwich and French fries which were a bit extra. The sandwich was stacked and exploding with flavor. The crisp onions go incredible with this. My only drawback is that they use a bit too much oil for my liking. Expect it to be dripping on your hands after the first bite lol. The "smoked" taste in the oil is also reallyyy strong. I think I would've enjoyed a plain sandwich a bit more but the quality regardless is great. The fries are perfectly seasoned, thick and not too crisp, not too soft. The menu is stacked even more than my sandwich was which will undoubtedly keep me coming back and I look forward to it! I've tried these hyped up places before only to be disappointed. We arrived on a Monday mid afternoon. One table was occupied. We had the rest of the place to ourselves. TV's with sports played quietly and some decent rock music was playing. A turf covered cornhole set up was at the back. There's a great upstairs sitting area that was closed but I asked if I could take a look and I snapped a few photos. The place while empty was very clean, a modern/old industrial look to the place. Every employee I saw wore a mask properly. The menu does not have a lot to choose from. I'll say now it's because when you do things as well as they do, you don't complicate it with anything else. Fortunately there were three of us. We ordered three different sandwiches, a large fry and son poutine fries, (which I'm typically not a fan of.) The Firebird. The Coop Deville and the Double Clucker were the sandwiches were ordered. We all cut off pieces of each so we could try them all. The Firebird was amazing! A spicy chicken thigh with pickles, fried onions and a ranch sauce all on a soft roll. It was amazing. And yet... it was our third favorite! That good and it's in third? Second place for me goes to the Coop Deville! A huge moist fried chicken breast, cabbage, pickled Fresno chilis, pickles... a lime mayo dressing on a soft artesian bun. I can't believe how moist and tasty this bird was. Now this one I simply don't get. The Double Clucker is ground chicken patty's... two of them, perfectly seasoned, cheddar cheese and bacon, guacamole and pickles. Fried onions and their take on a burger sauce. Somehow they found the perfect combination of flavors and put them together to make the perfect chicken sandwich. The poutine fries surprised me. The fries they serve are delicious and perfectly cooked. Then they top it with... again I'm using it... perfectly cooked pollo asada, a jalapeño cheese sauce and jalapeños. Delicious! We all shared their cookie. A SALTED Chocolate Chip cookie. Simply a perfect close to a fantastic meal. Forget all the other chicken places. Seriously. If you follow me and my reviews, you know I am a full time traveler. Because of this we get to try foods from places all over. I'm glad we will be in the SW part of the US for the winter. Ample parking in the back, lots of seating (first come first served), and order is in the front/outside of the building (order and then come in to site down). We ordered the Coop Deville, Mexican Poutine, Chicken Oysters, and the Nugs. The sandwich was tasty, a little bit on the salty side but the ranch and other dressings make up for it, and it is also big so we had shared the sandwich (side note: you can ask them to cut it in half for you so you don't have to make a mess doing it yourself lol). The Mexican Poutine was aaaaaamazing and we actually liked the chicken on there a little bit better. The chicken was like the one you get for teriyaki chicken. The fries weren't soggy and they give you a big portion so this can be a shareable dish. The Chicken Oysters and the Nugs were small pieces but I'd say you can just go with one or the other. I've got to admit, the more times I eat food from The Crack Shack, the more I fall in love with it. I think the trick here is to know what to get. And for me that's either the Firebird or the Fried Chicken (Preferably tossed in Fire)... and don't forget the Schmaltz Fries. I love their Firebird! The spice is not necessarily the star in this sandwich. I'd argue that cool ranch and the crispy onions are the real stars here! They are the perfect compliment to the wonderfully crispy and juicy (and spicy) chicken plus that seasoned potato roll AND LET'S NOT FORGET ABOUT THOSE FABULOUS PICKLES! I forget that there are delicious chicken sandwiches out there that are not Nashville Hot Chicken sandos and Crack Shack reminded me of that. I also enjoyed their Schmaltz Fries! Others might not because they are not super crispy. But I think that depends on what is your favorite thing about a fry! I visited here on a mid-week afternoon during what would normally be a happy hour. I was not consuming alcohol at the time, and the bartender informed me that they had no non-alcoholic options, and would never have them unless their distributor gave them free samples. So I was out of luck and had a soda water. I've been to the Crack Shack in Vegas, and I like their serve-yourself sauces there, and the fact that you can buy individual pieces of fried chicken (a simple chicken breast or chicken thigh with their coating and perfectly cooked is a special treat). Here I had the chicken burger, which somehow I thought would be more like a chicken sandwich. It was ground chicken formed into a patty. It was good, just didn't have the crunch I was looking for. 3/18/2022 11am We went to the crack shack early in the morning when they first opened and I have to say, me and my girlfriend were pleased with the service and taste in food! To start I want to say that when you walk in, there's a huge cock (chicken statue) and I wanted to take a picture with it haha but I was embarrassed. But when you walk in it's a pretty fun looking place. There's a bar, a place to play that bean bag throwing game, a dog water bowl area, a second floor for with more room, and most important a sauce station with different flavors from ranch, pineapple mixed with something else sauce, and plenty more! The chicken sandwiches, fries and shakes were fulfilling and fairly priced for the sizes offered! Another aspect that made me respect the establishment more is that my girlfriend dropped her milkshake and spilled everywhere and immediately one of the back of house employees told one of the workers (a lady in heels who looked as if she was going to have a meeting) cleaned up our mess and gave us a new milkshake when they could've just given us another half! Nice little corner shop! It has a bar inside & an area where you can play cornhole. You order outside at the window, streetside, and you sit down at a table with your number, where they'll run the food over to you when it's ready. I ended up taking a piece of chicken out to eat by itself because the sandwich was so tall. The spicy chicken flavor is extremely heavy on the smoked paprika & cayenne powder. I woke up the next morning & burped up a little stomach acid, and the spice came up to burn my throat. I would've liked to see more depth of flavor in the spice mix, rather than going heavy on the aforementioned powders. The onion bun was EXQUISITE though. I don't know which bakery they source their buns from, but I regret not asking them because it's my favorite bun on a chicken sandwich, by far. The cashier mentioned the sriracha 1000 island sauce, so I obliged and got that sauce for my fries; 5/5 recommendation. As for the drinks, they were good. The bar looks very classy, and it looks like a full bar, though we didn't order anything off the menu. For all of the hype, I am not impressed. I am always very honest and giving with my reviews so I hate to say it! I've come here on multiple occasions and tried the COOP DEVILLE which is good! And the other spicier one, which was not my favorite. The coleslaw they put on their COOP DEVILLE is a great touch! It's an easy stop if you're headed to the beach, as well, but not one of my favorites for chicken sandwiches and chicken sandwiches are my FAV! I think Newport doesn't have the best food options in general, maybe that's why this place gets a lot of attention because they do have a pretty decent sandwich! The craft sodas are terrible. I always come and think maybe they would have improved and maybe I just caught their sodas on a wrong day but they are always weirdly disappointing. Stopped by crack shack on a whim and I'm glad we did. We were out with our dog so it was nice to see a dog-friendly restaurant. The restaurant was very lively but that didn't impact their service. Both of us ordered the firebird, which is a dark meat sandwich, and it was amazing - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It's a little more pricey than your usual chicken sandwich but it definitely feels more premium. We also tried a few of the sauces (can't remember the names) but they were all really good. As someone who loves fried chicken (who doesn't?) I really wanted to like this place. That said, it came up short in a lot of ways. That aside, the staff was friendly, the ordering process was simple, and the interior of the restaurant was open and airy-- not to mention plenty of parking around back. Coop Deville - I was sad to see that there was a ratio problem. The bun was way too big in comparison to the size of the chicken breast (quite small), and the slaw on top. Size aside, the breading on the chicken breast was just plain sorry. It was soggy on the bottom when it hit the table. The slaw seemed to have taken away the crunch, which is a huge testament to their breading and frying process. The whole thing was under-seasoned from top to bottom. This is what I expect out of a run-of-the-mill fast food joint. I am pretty sensitive to spicy food, and I could handle it no problem. Schmaltz Fries - The single redeeming quality here. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just as I like it.
