Beef soup:My mom said it was ok but I thought it was very a flavorful and clean broth with rice and side dishes. Would order again. The food and service is very amazing! I love the Galbi Jjim with so much flavor. More on the sweeter side compare to some of the other restaurants. It comes with rice cakes and two rice. This place just opened. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. I got their yangji sullungtang, dolsot bibimbap, and chive pancake to try. They started us off with some complementary broth and a bunch of banchan. The broth was umami, meaty, and mellow and all the banchan tasted pretty fresh and light. Nothing too pungent. My fave was probably this pepper one. The suluntang came rice, noodles, brisket, and a side pot of green onions and salt to season to taste and when you added it it helped to unlock the deep, comforting light beef flavor of the broth. Course you gotta mix the bibimbap and add some sauce and the rice got that nice crispy, toasted, bottom. Very comforting and yummy. It didn't come with any meat tho. It did come with like this miso soup side tho. This was my first time having a Korean chive pancake and it was really good. They hand cut it table side and it had a Lightly crisp outside with a chewy, perfectly savory and fragrant inside. They also told me to pair it with this slightly sweet savory soy sauce which did take it to the next level. Portions are kinda small for the price but overall this place is still lowkey pretty good. They're currently in soft opening and we came here on a weeknight just as it started to get busy. I could tell that staff was a bit overwhelmed but they handled it well. They serve you a cup of complimentary bone broth to start off that I couldn't stop sipping on. We got the galbitang and seafood pancake to share. When the galbitang came out, we were so enamored by how clear the broth was. Super clear broth for being so flavorful. The beef was tender but you def had to use your hands to not waste any meat on the bone. They were generous with the seafood on the seafood pancake and you could hear how crispy it was while they cut it into slices for you. I ordered the lunch special hot stone bibimbap. I think putting it in a hot stone didn't work for me because it toasted the rice and cooked the runny yolk of the egg on top. There was barely any meat on it. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to this place. If I go next time I will try the brisket soup. New Korean restaurant on main street in Alhambra. The staff is very attentive and the setting is clean. We were given a hot bone broth in a cup to start with and asked for barley tea; both warmed up my belly before the meal. We ordered the mixed bone broth and a combo with kalbi and cold noodle soup. The kalbi was very tender and flavor was good. The noodles were in clumps in the soup, broth was good and there was quite a bit of pickles in there plus a slice of pear and meat. The mixed beef broth needed a little more umph of bones in there. Not a fan of the squid side dish, kimchi and pickled cucumbers needed a little more flavor, only tasted the acidity. The fish cake was a little chewy, veggie dish was good, not sure if it was sesame oil but it was something really aromatic. Caramalized lotus roots had good flavor, also a bit chewy. New Korean restaurant opened in Alhambra, and I had to try as a fellow Korean. Since it is new, there aren't many people yet but still quite a few. I ordered plain beef brisket soup (yangji tang). Staff was rather very gentle and calm, so I felt like they were trained for targeting Asians (lol). My dish came out super fast. All side dishes were very tasty, rice quality was ok, and soup was great. One small thing bothered me was, there was no black pepper to add! In the middle, staff brought another side dish which seems special. I have never seen this kinda of hot side dish is served. It contains mushroom, fish cake, egg with mild spicy+sweet flavor. Very tasty too. Including tax, it was $21. It is not like everyday restaurant (not super cheap, and many other foreign restaurants have the same issue), but I fee like this restaurant will be my go-to Korean restaurant. 5min distance matters a lot too. read more

The food was soooooo delicious, with banchan included! We got the #1, #13, & the #28 combo with cold broth noodles = so many broths from the palate cleansing broth, the mains, and the dessert noodles. We tried out the yellow croaker and flounder dishes. The dishes state that the fish is grilled, but it looked more like they were lightly breaded and fried. The flounder was fine. The part that shocked and grossed us out was that we expected the croaker to be gutted and cleaned out, but upon opening the fish, we found the full guts inside. There was a dark grey mass that we had to extract from the fish, with a noticeable fishy smell. Made us lose our appetite seeing that. read more

The ultimate question for whether a restaurant is good or not is whether you will come back. The answer for this one is a definite yes. The food is ready with normal amount of time, especially for soft opening (normally very slow). The food has very generous portion and taste very good. The beef rib is tender yet still have a bite to it. Right after we sat down, a special soup was served. We were told that this special soup helps to cleanse your palate. I have tried it thoughout the meal and it worked very well, I started to call it my "reset button drink". It's been 2 months since I last visited. This time I decided to try them during Sunday lunch. We got here just after 1pm. I'll place this review with the staff here were all very kind! The complimentary none broth always hits!!! When we arrived, there was no line but we had to wait about 5 mins for them to clear a table for us. Another 5 mins or so we get our menu mats? And few mins after that, served some nice hot bone broth. Maybe just over 5 mins later we finally got to place our order. Needless to say, service is very slow and we had plenty of time to observe the staff today. First time I came they had plenty of staff. Today, they only had 3 front of house handling guests, takeout orders, bussing tables, serving, and checking guests out. That's a lot of work! They did have a hiring sign out front so I'm assuming they are just working with limited staff now. We got our food maybe about 15 mins later but the head server was very kind to serve us bone broth refills and banchan while we waited. Today's banchan we got kimchi, spinach, fried fish cake, potato salad, squid kimchi salad, and chili kimchi. He did warn us the chili kimchi is very good but very spicy. He wasn't exaggerating!!! I took the tiniest bite and immediately started sweating! But it was very delicious! My BF enjoyed it very much! All banchan was refillable except the special banchans today which was the squid kimchi salad and chili kimchi. I very much preferred the flavors of all the kimchi today!!! No excessive sweetness. It tasted very true to traditional kimchi and we enjoyed all of the banchan today and even got refills! I had to come back for the seafood pajeon! It was my absolute favorite first time and still soooo good this time! Can't go wrong with this dish! We also got the #12 standard bibimbap. It comes with minced meat and an over easy egg. Sauce is in a squeeze bottle and you adjust to your preference. Sadly, this dish was overall very bland. The only flavors came from the sauce. The minced meat had no flavor of it's own and neither did any of the toppings. It was a good thing we still had some onions from our pajeon dipping sauce and the chili kimchi from the banchan! Combining those flavors saved the bibimbap. My observations for today: not only were they severely short staff but staff weren't very efficient to begin with. I'll start with I very much appreciate that they are very attentive about bussing tables carefully as to not create too dish clanking noises! However, there were times were I would see them rolling carts to serve for only to return to the kitchen without bothering to clear the other tables. By the time we started eating there were at least 4 tables vacant with dirty dishes. A couple of guests had already left when they couldn't be seated right away. The younger male server I'm going to assume was new and lacked the hindsight to know what else he should bring to guests when he delivers the food. Like sharing dishes, condiments, water, etc. It was the older gentlemen that basically ran front of house and the young lady was in charge of the in between and bussing. I do enjoy people watching and I hope they can get more good help! This place is only 10 mins from my house so I really want them to stick around and keep sending out great food!! But sadly second visit seems like they are moving in the wrong direction. I'll visit again in the future and hope your business continues to grow! read more

Went right at opening and was kindly greeted by staff! We were given a cup of their chef's special soup as an appetite starter, it was good with black pepper - like gomtang! Our server Jasmine was informative and recommended the seafood pancake to try. My group and I loved the seafood pancake! It wasn't full of batter that absorbed oil, and had a crisp panko-like crust. The squid hot plate rice was full of flavor and the squid pieces weren't rubbery! The naeungmyun was also pretty good and refreshing! Overall a great experience and service was great! Came to check out this new Korean restaurant. As a Korean and Korean food lover, I left a little disappointed. Ordered the galbi Jim and galbi tang. Galbi tang was just okay the broth didn't taste like a typical galbi tang you get in restaurant but can't really mess up soup so it was decent. Galbi jjim was about $70 and the meat quality was so poor. Like other reviews mentioned was very very dry with small pieces of meat. It also Did not fall off the bone and was way too chewy. I thought the mushrooms and rice cake in the galbi jjim was tasty but for the price you're paying, the portion & quality of the meat was not good. I got the dolsot bibimbap and my friends got the naengmyun/galbi combo. Tastewise, my dish was fine - nothing special. But being that it came in a sizzling hot stone bowl, it was problematic that when they placed it in front of me, they did it so that one handle was pointing towards me instead of safely to the sides. They are in their soft opening stage right now! Not long line, but I can see that this place popping off later on. Take advantage of the shorter line right now! As soon as you sit down, they provided you with a bone broth in a cup. Light, clean, and refreshing. Service is excellent! Very attentive! As for the food everything tastes so fresh and love how it's served hot and stays hot! Portion is also on the bigger size, in my opinion. Worthy of their price range. Favors was definitely there and the spice level is at a level where you can easily finish your food. Their sides were so different from other Korean restaurant and they seem like to be very generous with it! Some are refillable and some are not. Comes out when the main dishes are rolled out. The pork that comes in the soup was soft and basically falls off the bones. You taste how fresh their ingredients are because the umami taste lingers. Loved the Gyeoja-chae: Refreshing Cold Mustard Salad had not had that is eons! The minari pancake is superb could just have that! I understand what a soft opening is. It's meant to work out the kinks. Test the kitchen. Smooth the service. Figure things out. What I did not expect was to be part of a live experiment in how badly you can ruin galbi-jjim. For those unfamiliar, galbi-jjim is supposed to be rich, tender, deeply savory BRAISED short rib -- fall-off-the-bone meat bathed in a glossy, complex sauce. What arrived at my table was...a crime scene. The meat wasn't tender. It wasn't succulent. It was tight, dry, and you could taste the poor execution of whatever was happening in the kitchen. It was almost as if they microwaved the beef or drained all of its flavor by boiling it. Maybe it was because they purchased the cheaper cuts of beef? A soft opening is not a free pass to serve food that tastes like a first draft. It's an opportunity to impress early supporters and build goodwill. I genuinely hope they improve because Alhambra could use some Korean restuarants. If this is the baseline, they are not "working out the kinks." They are still learning how to turn the stove on. As a Korean, I am deeply disappointed in how this meal turned out. Even after complaining about the food all we got was "Ill let the kitchen know." Me and my mom love Korean food so we basically tried all Korean restaurants in San Gabriel Valley. What makes this Korean restaurant special is their choices of side dishes. First when you just sit down, you were given a cup of tasty broth. It helps to warm you up especially in a cold day. When the server brought the side dishes, he introduced them and let you know which one is refillable. There were zucchini, jelly, seaweed, very common but cooked in a different way or seasoning compare to other restaurants. All very tasty. There's also a cabbage miso soup, clam & skate fish (not refillable), which I never tried in other Korean restaurants. They were very good, too. The kimchi, however, is the least tasty of all. We ordered a galbi-tang and spicy squid hot stone rice and they are all up to my expectation. The server was also very attentive and nice. I will be coming back for sure. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant while we were walking. We were supposed to eat someplace else but when we looked inside, the interior looked so clean and a nice ambiance to catch up and enjoy some food so we decided to go there. Upon talking to the waitress, Jenny, we learned they had been open for 2 months. Jenny was so enthusiastic and attentive to our needs. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. We also talked to Sean and he recommended popular items from the menu and was so kind too. We ordered their squid bimbimbap, the Combo Galbi with cold noodles, and the seafood pancake. Everything was so so good. My favorite was the seafood pancake... it was perfectly crisp and wasn't soggy at all.
