I ate what I could, I don't like sending back food. Called them too and the sad employee just said sorry I'll let the chef know. No compensation, no, free dessert or anything. Just awful. Had a late dinner here with a party of 8 including an 18 mo old. Waiter was very attentive. The Century boat that sits in dining room right next to us was really cool. There is also a large fish tank with local fish. The food was considered pretty good by all. They also have a kids menu. My Cabernet wasn't great and they replaced it with a Malbec for no extra charge which was appreciated once I realized an 8 oz pour was $16! Was so excited to try this place and make it our new place to frequent. The restaurant is spacious, attractive and open. The food was light and tasty. The issue was we didn't get a bag for our to-gos. As we were leaving carrying our to-go boxes on our hands we asked the hostess for a bag. She said "oh your server didn't give you one?" the hostess then proceeded to suggest that we must have walked out on our bill and that's why we didn't get a to-go bag. Went for an early New Years Eve dinner. Our waitress Susan was so nice and friendly. Helped with questions about the menu and even asked us if we wanted to change tables since the couple behind us were arguing loudly. Had the fried calamari which was light and came with 2 tasty dipping sauces. Entree was fish fry which was also light and delicious. Came with fries and coleslaw which tasted Homemade. It's a nice place inside, but the food wasn't very good. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and there was almost no chicken. My wife had the fish and chips and she said she thought it was packaged frozen and not very good. The waitress was ok, but wasn't at all friendly or inviting. The view from the dining room is a sliver of the lake between some trees that I imagine is pretty nice in winter when there are no leaves. And they have another dining area that may have better views, but that's not where they sat us so I can't say. It wasn't crowded at all, so I'm guessing you have to ask to sit there, not sure. I wouldn't say it was the worst experience we've had in the area, but it wasn't good enough that I'm looking forward to going back. My neighbor tells me we have to try a place at least 3 times before making a decision on if it's good or not. Thanksgiving meal was a failure this year. Last year when they offered the option of table service vs buffet ( I choose table service) it was a wonderful experience. This year there was no option. Made reservations and when my party of 5 arrived we had to wait 15 minutes at counter before someone let us know to go downstairs to get seated. Only at that point we found out it was buffet style. While on the line ( waited another 5 mins) we heard other parties questioning about not knowing this was going to be buffet style option only. Got seated and took waiter 10 mins to come and take drink order. Food was dry and overcooked ( salmon, mashed potatoes, Turkey, stuffed pork loin , stuffing , string beans , stuffed shells, etc). We were practically done eating when our drinks finally arrived ( 30 mins ). Was understaffed and chaotic. Took forever to get second round of drinks, desert , and finally the check. We were there for 2 hours ( reservations at 4 pm, paid check at 6 pm ). If next year it's buffet style again , I will not be back. read more

We are staying in the area and decided to take a trip to my husband's favorite childhood campgrounds (Iron Wood Resort). We couldn't get to that area due to the heavy snow, so decided to find a place on Lake Wallenpaupack for an early lunch. We decided on The Dock. When we arrived we noticed no one else in the restaurant. We love new adventures so decided to give this place a try. We were greeted warmly and introduced to our server Ashley. Ordered drinks and appetizers. All I can say is WOW! Loved the Bang Bang Shrimp, but the Bourbon Meatballs were so freaking good!! I had a pomegranate martini that was simply perfect. Hubby had tea. Someone had to be the DD. Lunch was spectacular, hubby had the Tiajuana cheesesteak, I had a crab cake sandwich. Delicious. Service was perfect. Friendly, not rushed, knowledgeable. I can't recommend this place enough. Can't wait to come back this summer! 10/10 would eat there again. read more

To be honest, the overall view from the location was outstanding. However, the service although starting out ok, moved to average at best. The food was served together with the exception of the pizza which came out 15 minutes after the other dinners were served. In addition, the waitress seem to more busy with other tables than to occasionally at best swing by. We had asked for another coke & more water twice but finished eating before even getting them. The dinners were ok. The steak was burnt on one end raw on the other end after requesting medium well. The pizza after waiting for it, had a soggy crust and a very bland taste. The place has potential to be very good, but there is a big mismatch between the prices charged and the quality of the food. I understand that this is a touristy location, but at least give some food that you could justify the higher costs. If you stick with the basics (burgers, sandwiches and such) you'll probably be fine. But buyer beware on the 40 dollar+ entrees, you will be sorely disappointed. Highly recommended!! Amazing food and great views. Dinner tonight was so delicious. We started off with the bang bang shrimp and lobster bisque which were delicious. I had the Cobb salad and my husband had the crab cakes. Absolutely amazing and worth every penny. Honestly Everything was reasonably priced. Lenny was our server and he was outstanding. Friendly, hospitable, and professional. He did a wonderful job through and through. This place is Perfect for a sunset view and great photo ops. The Dock on Wallenpaupack is, like many or even most restaurants these days, a victim of a new American labor revolution. This means that your server is likely less trained, less conscientious and less productive. That said, the food at the Dock on Wallenpaupack was excellent. But the wait staff, and management through poor training and incompetence detracts from the kitchen's excellent creations. Two of our party ordered the Champagne Chicken which I'm told was very good. It was served with rice and broccoli or cauliflower. They were served "refrigerator cold"; not just warm after sitting on the counter and left to cool but refrigerator cold... Two(2) problems with this. One was that the server served it. She should have known better. Why didn't she notice the dishes were cold. But she obviously wasn't trained well enough or didn't care. This, however, is a correctable circumstance but for for the manager. Jil was her name. When we complained she actually suggested that the wall fan near our table cooled the dish...We were all dumbfounded... The dish ARRIVED cold... It wasn't on the table long enough to be cooled by the fan... A defensive and thoughtless assertion from a poorly trained manager. Back to the food. The red snapper dish was excellent as were the fish tacos... In the tacos, the chef did something with red cabbage, a sweet and sour thing, that added a delightful layer of flavor to this very tasty fish taco dish. Their "market fish" special for the night were scallops. These were done perfectly. The bottom line here is that Dock on Wallenpaupack is an excellent restaurant plagued with the unfortunate labor circumstances we all find ourselves in. In addition this particular restaurant has moved from "owner-operator" management to "corporate management", The Dock now being part of a large hotel resort chain. This has not helped the end product. This aside, I will return to try their many delicious dishes but will be extra vigilant to assure the wait staff doesn't detract to an otherwise excellent dining experience. read more

I have passed by this place numerous times on the way to the lake. After googling their menu and saw the rave reviews about their "lobster roll" I decided to go. After taking a seat at the bar, I noticed one other person seated at the bar. He said "the bartender has been gone for ten minutes" he wasn't kidding. I also told her I'd like the lobster roll to which she replied "we haven't had that since last year" I then asked for a menu and asked her what she suggests is good on the menu. She replied "pizza" I'm looking at a menu full of pasta, steak, lobster and she replied with pizza. The guy sitting at the bar had actually ordered a pizza. His complaint was the pizza was half burnt and half undercooked. Not sure how they managed that. I decided to go with a Caesar salad. I was asked if I wanted any shrimp, steak or chicken so I went with the chicken. The salad was brought out. The salad was good however the chicken was over cooked and dry, and was NOT cooked to order. It was evident the chicken was sitting for a day or two. I had 1 bite of the chicken and did not touch the rest. The bartender never asked about the meal, never came back to refill my drink or the other guy. Instead it appeared there was a gathering of employees in the kitchen area where they were all sitting on prep tables talking, I saw one person eating. I had to waive my arms in the air to get the attention of one of the employees who then motioned to the bartender to come out. I then told the bartender my opinion of the chicken which I didn't eat, she somewhat argued with me when I asked if it was cooked fresh, which it wasn't. I then asked for a 2nd beer to which she looks at her watch as if to indicate she's ready to close the bar. Bottom line is this place both literally and figuratively left a BAD TASTE in my mouth. When there are more employees than customers and you still receive horrible service there's something wrong. If you can't be polite and helpful to customers you should quit your job or be fired. I paid $22 for a salad with old grilled, cold chicken. The bill was not adjusted nor did anyone care to discuss the issue. The bartender should be ashamed of herself, and the owner needs to really sit down with the staff here and make some big changes. I'm sort of up in the air on this place. The first time we went here was over the summer and we sat on the deck. It was certainly a nice view of the area but what ruined it for me was the guy they had playing guitar and singing. Don't get me wrong; I love music. But when people are eating you should have them leave the singing out of the equation. Either straight guitar music or piano music and at a low level. We could barely hear each other as we tried to talk. We came back again and ate inside this time. It was February. The service was considerably slower but I don't fault the server one bit because she was handling serving drinks at the bar and serving several tables in the dining room. I am reviewing the new music and picnic atmosphere on the lawn that they have on Saturday afternoons now. I hate to leave a bad review but I believe this does a great disservice to paying guests! As a paying guests we come for the beautiful lake and peaceful scenery. There was absolutely no parking and with all the free loaders NO WIFI!!!! You think charging such high prices for lunch they would at least trim the flank steak. Came here for dinner last night and was blown away by the service!! Our server was in training and she was incredibly nice and personable!! The food wasn't great and left something to be desired; maybe we should have tried the Tator tots; they sounded amazing! I ordered the pot roast with gravy, mashed potatoes and chefs veggie (broccoli). The pot roast was pretty fatty and way salty (could have been the gravy too). The broccoli was good and sautéed in garlic which I enjoyed. My wife had the balsamic chicken that was covered in cheese and some cheesy rice pilaf? She wasn't overly impressed either. The salads had came before dinner were nice... the only thought I have is that the green mixture must have been out for a while because the salad looked a bit sad. The balsamic vinaigrette was good; the salad had some red onion, cucumber and tomatoes. Also the view from this place overlooking the lake is beautiful! My boyfriend and I were visiting the Poconos this past weekend for our anniversary and saw an advertisement for their Shrimp Fest. We made reservations for 6 pm on Saturday night for a table outside. A few minutes after OpenTable confirmed the reservation, I got a phone call from the restaurant's number, which I missed. I called back and spoke with a gentleman who informed me that their deck would not be open that night. I said no problem, a table inside would be fine. He said "we'll seat you in our lounge area." I said ok. He wasn't exactly rude, but his tone was very abrupt and didn't seem very welcoming. I wish I'd canceled the reservation at that point, but wanting to give the benefit of the doubt, we decided to give it a go. We arrived about 10 minutes prior to our reservation time and checked in at the host station, where we were told it would be just a "few minutes" before our table would be ready. Since we were a few minutes early, we figured no problem. We waited until about 6:15 when we decided to get a drink at the bar. We'd almost finished our first round when we were called to the host station - of course we assumed this meant our table was ready, especially since at that point it was around 30-40 minutes past our reservation time. We were instead informed that they still didn't have a table in the dining room ready and we could either continue to wait (and they could not give us any idea of how long), or take a table in the bar area. We were annoyed but pretty hungry at this point so we opted for the bar table. We sat for a few minutes before the bartender came over with menus and to take our drink order. No mention of any of the Shrimp Fest specials, nor any separate menu for it. And the bartender was not only working the bar, but working as the server for the entire bar area. She was very nice and doing her best to be attentive, but was obviously overwhelmed. I had to go back to the front to take a photo of the specials board to see what they had for the Shrimp Fest menu. (Meanwhile, shortly after we sat down, my boyfriend watched multiple parties of 2 get seated in the dining room.) We ordered the steamed clams and bang bang shrimp for appetizers. They were just okay, not bad, but nothing spectacular. For our entrees, my boyfriend ordered the steak & shrimp and I ordered the shrimp carbonara. We waited quite awhile longer for the entrees. On a positive note, the steak was cooked well. But for a "shrimp fest" the shrimp portion was, well...shrimpy. Just 3 shrimp with the steak. I was expecting the carbonara to have shrimp in the pasta, but instead it came with 4 shrimp just perched on the edge of the plate around the pasta. The shrimp were pretty good, but the pasta was cold and gluey. We did order an apple galette to go for dessert, which was very good. Overall the experience was pretty disappointing, especially for the price. We will be going elsewhere the next time we're in the area. read more

Our server, Michael, was wonderful -- that was the good part. The big mystery/let-down was the actual dock: When we arrived, the hostess told us right away, "You're sitting inside." When I mentioned that I'd requested the outdoor area when I made the reservation, she said all the tables there were reserved -- and yet for the almost-two hours we were there, it was more than half empty. In fact, one party (of three women) who had been seated out there, moved indoors. I'm sure the reason most people go to The Dock is for the view, not the food which, as other reviewers have noted is pretty meh. So ... if there's some secret to being able to sit out there, it would be nice to know it. (Also, I was not able to submit this review through OpenTable -- kinda figures, honestly.)
