Unpopular opinion, wasn't a huge fan of this place. We came for a friend's birthday, had a reservation and the service was absolutely. We were sat outside, no heaters. It took us over 30 minutes to even get water and when we finally got that, it took another 30 minutes to get our drinks. I had the worst Mai Thai, so MAYBE there are good drinks there... but that wasn't it. Super sour, almost tasted like something went bad. Would never return. read more

This place felt a little too touristy for me and seemed like the attention to detail was missing. The peach flavored cocktail I ordered was made with some kind of concentrate which had a very strong syrupy flavor. The bartending staff were nice enough but the atmosphere and prices were not my jam. If you like tiki bars and like the loud and busy scene in Scottsdale, give this place a try! Side note: they were limiting the number of people that could be inside and were following safety protocols. Mother's Day weekend. Our first time. The food was amazing. We did the pu pu platter which had a little bit of every thing. We tried the sushi and the chicken tempura. Not sure how we ate so much food but it was all amazing. The staff is super friendly. I emailed you twice in case you haven't checked your email.I DID SAY SOMTHING but your server said can't do anything, not even turning the heather on(the reason we end up at your place) then billed me $56 which I paid with ZERO tip. Then I informed her I am submitting a review online, but looks like she couldn't do anything or didn't care to bother the shitf manager. Wish I could give them ZERO. Cold food,low quality drink and terrible service. The server didn't even bring water.. I was half done my food and my wife was still waiting! Honestly I don't know why the reviews aren't better. The happy hour is awesome, there's a cool tiki bar vibe. Most of all the food is good. Everything I've had here from shrimp tacos to sushi has been very fresh and flavorful. The drinks are awesome!! And if you catch the happy hour which is every day , then it's really reasonably priced. Also we have never had bad service at the bar or at a table. I'll be back again and again. read more

The vibe was relaxing. Lots of outdoor seating and open air interior. The bar sported oasis machines with great happy hour prices. The drinks were very good. As a tiki bar enthusiasts, this bar is more corporate feeling. They don't have racks of obscure rum. They use mass produced tiki mugs. With that said, I can't wait to go back. First time to Scottsdale and we walked up on a Saturday night not expecting to get seated. We were seated within 10 min. At first we thought it was a little dark inside but once we settled in and got into the groove of the music we didn't care. The food was EXCELLENT! I just flew in from Texas and we came here for a happy hour! Good deals and great food and drinks! We got mojitos which were amazing! The sushi here is top notch the rice is soft and the fish is fresh. Definitely recommend the chicken skewers they remind me of the ones I had in Hawaii! Had a good start bc we were told it would be a 25 min wait and then it was only 5. Our drinks were great and so was the service. The potstickers were also good! However the sushi was not. My fiancé always gets the Las Vegas roll everywhere we go and he couldnt finish this one. My spicy tuna roll wasn't good either. The menu is confusing too because it says "sushi specialty rolls" on the menu but then there were sashimi on that section. They were also out of a lot on the menu. Definitely would only go back for drinks. read more

Wife and I wanted to try something a little different and was in the mood for frozen tropical drinks. Happy Hour Saturday more than fit the bill! We both truly enjoyed our coladas and delicious appetizers consisting of ribs cooked perfectly, crispy exterior, moist flavorful meat, perfect sauce. Pot stickers and coconut shrimp were beautifully presented and again extremely tasty. Tried some outstanding fresh yellowtail nigiri and sashimi to round out an excellent afternoon. Service was fast and efficient, truly looking forward to our next visit. Nice patio but some things were just not right. It's a mix of SW, American and Asian Cuisine so you have a diverse menu. My hamburger came with a slice of tomato and pineapple and it was very ordinary, the French fries were very good. The edamame wasn't cooked long enough and the guacamole and chips were outrageously expensive for what you got. My friends got chicken teriyaki and they said they enjoyed it. The wait staff was very nice and tried hard to make it an enjoyable evening. Everyone enjoyed the tropical drinks off the drink menu. The kitchen was a little stiff in the fact that there were no substitutions allowed, so no flexibility at all when it comes to their menu. $300 for 5 people not bad but what we ordered did not have expensive ingredients. Unfortunately there was nothing on the menu that knocked me out so I most likely won't be returning. read more

It got very busy after we arrived and as we all know, it is hard to hire staff these days. The beautiful hostess escorted us to a table right near the open patio doors as it was the closest thing to outside -it was full and we did not have reservations so we're were happy! We ordered the Mexican corn appetizers and it was flavorful. My mojito was disappointing though as it was bland. Me and 3 of my 4 guests received our taco meals which were very good but our other guests did not receive her salad until 20 minutes later. Mind you, our meals took a long time, our beverages were not refilled when empty until we politely signaled for our waitperson but it was pretty bad that our friend did not get her salad. When it was finally ready, it was offered to her gratis but she refused as we had shared our plates with her. It's a fun atmosphere, the music is great and food is good when you get it. read more

I think the drunk monk is pretty fun overall, the environment is fun and honestly I thought the service was pretty good. I think the drinks are somewhat basic though. I would like to see some originality and maybe tie it back better to an actual tiki style. You do get some umbrellas though and overall it's a great place to visit when in old town. read more

My 35 year old son wanted to take me for a drink and we passed by the Drunk Monk and saw the signs for happy hour and the nice patio and entered. No one was at hostess station. We waited. The hostess finally came and said she would be right back. We waited. Another person came in after us. The hostess came back and the person who came in after said she wasn't waiting for a table and needed to discuss something else. Rather than seating us, the hostess engaged in a long conversation and continued to ignore us. We waited some more. Finally I asked if we could please be seated. There were at least 5 to 6 empty tables for two on the patio. She responded that we could not be seated on the patio as it was reserved. I am from Los Angeles and it is very rare to need reservations for happy hour. And on your website there is no way to make a reservation. And you have signs on the street advertising your happy hour. And on Google it says you don't take reservations for 2 at Happy Hour. So what is up here? A hostess's job is to welcome people with hospitality. To make us wait and wait and not tell us that she would not be able to seat us was certainly not considerate. Or maybe women old enough to have a 35 year old son are not welcome at your establishment. Who knows. Needless to say we left and the next time I am in Scottsdale visiting my family, I won't be back. read more

Server was extremely rude and food was horrible. Went in here for a drink and some food, we noticed they were having happy hour at 3, so started with a drink before it hit 3 and then ordered food. The server was so extremely rude and acted liked we were inconveniencing her for any thing we asked. She didn't bring the proper utensils or sauces when she brought our food, so I asked for chopsticks and soy sauce and she rolled her eyes and said "I'm already getting it!!!". The portions were a INSANELY small! With no mention of this. I ordered TWO shrimp tempura rolls and one full one came out. Not only was there barely any shrimp in it the imitation crab tasted fishy. It's normally hard to mess up a shrimp tempura roll...The almond joy drink was delicious, but would not recommend for the food or service. read more

I'm giving 1 star because the food was ok. The service was zero. We arrived and were told there would be about a 15 minute wait. Fine. We went to sit at a table in the bar area. It was about 30 minutes until our drink order was taken. I ordered a drink that wasn't on the menu. They couldn't make it. I guess they never heard of Google. In the meantime, the hostess took us off the list to get a table for food. We got a table after we asked her about it. She was very rude too us. We ordered dinner, I ordered an appetizer for my dinner. My appetizer was delivered with the other appetizer, not as my meal. One of the three dinners was delivered. One of the other 2 dinners wasn't delivered until we asked about them. We also had to ask again for the last one. The only good thing was that they comp'd the last dinner. read more

Fun mid century modern tiki bar. My drink the Zombie Kitty was just ok. Very sweet with little booze. There sushi was fine nothing spectacular.
