Had dinner on a Sunday night after waiting 35 minutes for a table. Much to our frustration, when we finally sat down we noticed multiple tables were open. Another Covid-19 staffing dilemma linked to Biden Welfare. Food was fair and the drinks were 1/2 off so no complaints. Just tired of waiting for tables at empty dining rooms. My husband wanted to check this place out so we took the drive to Scottsdale. It was a rainy day, so parking was easy and we got there during happy hour. It took a few min to get seated due to the hostess/server being on the phone, but we could tell she was trying to get off the phone with whoever it was (sounded like a solicitor). My husband is into tiki cups and tiki bars, so I was excited for him to finally come here. We were given super cool looking drink and food menus, and our server went over the happy hour specials. We had the bottle rockets, artichoke dip, chicken tacos, Philly roll and the zombie kitty drink. The food was wonderful, he enjoyed his stiff drink, and he even bought the cup for his collection. We only spent 40.00 for everything before the cup purchase, that's a good deal! We walked in on our last day in Scottsdale. We were told it would be a 30-40 min wait. When we walked back in to check 45 min later we were told 10 more min there is only one group in front of you. 20 min later, only 10 or 15 more minutes. When I asked the last time she said there's only 2 groups in front of you, my manager keeps telling me not to seat you. In the end we NEVER recieved a text that our table was ready. Highly suggest the wagyu at Bourbon and Bones. They don't discriminate, and their service food and managers were amazing! read more

Food was decent- although I would have liked a little more taco & chips on my taco plate. Drinks- this is where as a tiki bar there's a LOT of opportunity for improvement. I ordered one margarita. I swear it tasted vaguely of the Costco sweet n sour with a hint of Malibu rum. Don Julio and Jose Cuervo must have made a run for the border bc there was no sign of them anywhere in this drink. Whoever stepped up to take their place was flavorless but packed a mean ass headache about 30 minutes after finishing the drink. I did inform the staff and they promised to inform the other staff. Somehow I don't think that will do anything because after several reviews of this nature over a few months nothing has changed. The fellow who advised to stick with vodka and soda was right. At first I felt like a bit of a traitor coming here since I was a long time fan of the previous Cowboy Ciao, but I really love what they did to the place. It's super cute, trendy, loved the modern hula vibe going on. The happy hour specials here are some of the best in town, and offered 7 days a week from 3-7! Half price specialty and well drinks, sushi and numerous appetizers.The HH offered lots of options choose from. My favorite bites were the teriyaki ribs and orange chicken. My Happy Buddha was most definitely the wrong drink, sent it back and they told me it tasted like that because of the Fanta in it. WTF?! That was not on the menu and it tasted disgusting. Went here for Bachelorette bar crawl and had the worst service I've ever experienced at a bar. The bartender was slow and talking only to one client and ignoring our group of 7 (there were only about 15 people total in this bar). Someone came over to buy us drinks and the bartender ignored us again and made drinks for other patrons that were ordered after us. When we asked about our drinks, she was extremely rude and told us we were just to going to have to wait despite us having been there before others who already had been served. When we FINALLY got our drinks- the sparkling wine tasted so bad (my friend referred to it as "toilet wine") and the shots were somehow separated....the lemon juice and the vodka wasn't mixed. Mostly giving one star for the horrible service, drinks being bad was just the cherry on top. Update: Not sure how we were "rude and inappropriate", I even still tipped despite the slow service and we were sober as this was the first bar we went to. We waited for our drinks for about 15mins before saying anything, and when we did we just asked where they were. There were other patrons at the bar but it was anything but full, it was 8pm on a Wednesday. The bartender spent most of the time talking to one of the guests at the bar who it seemed she knew well. Okay. So like my cousin and I went to this place yesterday. (January 17th 2022) We planned on going to Kyoto because she wanted sushi. But we pasted this place first as we walked the cute white light lit area that had a guy playing his guitar on the corner singing very nicely. What made us stop was the cute outdoor patio and the sign at the door that had "1/2 off flavored margaritas and 1/2 off sushi." It was their "Happy Hour." The drinks were nothing but a very sweet beverage that a child would definitely love with zero alcohol. We tried a different drink only to get the same, sweet with zero alcohol. I ordered their grilled cheese appetizer with three dipping sauces-$12. She ordered the street corn-that she said was overcooked so she ate only one bite and left the rest. She also ordered the coconut shrimp, which looked a little to brown to me, but she liked it. I thought it should have been a golden color, but the 3 piece shrimp were brown. She also ordered the spicy tuna roll. She left most of it on her plate. She said it was just okay. The roll-to me-did not look appealing. It was just tuna wrapped in rice rice. No cucumber slices /carrots. Nothing to make the plate look yummy. Our server kept getting lost. LOL And the place was not overly crowded. She was very nice though. She mentioned she was new working there. I understood. Super duper located in a super duper cute area! Totally cute outdoor patio area! Food I would not recommend. Nor will I the drinks. Now, I am from Atlanta, so my standards are extremely high! Being so, I know what food should look like on a plate -attractive. Colorful. I had a wonderful bartender, Cheyenne, please exclude her from this review as she is amazing and prioritizes a positive customer experience. I don't know the name of the young lady with long blond hair that puts the chairs up at night, however, she started off kind and then I went to leave and she literally screamed at me, 'what are you doing in here, get out!'. Mind you, I was walking to the only door in the establishment where patrons can enter and exit. I asked if I should jump the fence in front and she said, 'yes!'. What a complete shit show and if I owned the establishment I would be embarrassed. I live here, not a tourist. I will be calling the owner in the morning as locals and good patrons should be treated with a bit more kindness and respect. Lose the bad customer service or lose the locals, period. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I'm into Tiki Culture, but this is basically a Scottsdale dive bar with some tikis in it. The food was OK and our waitress was nice. The decor was actually pretty spot on and I adored the tiki mugs but those are my only pros. They were blasting music when we were in there so it's definitely more of a club than a restaurant. The drinks were AWFUL. Whatever they call a Mai Tai is definitely not a Mai Tai. Why did it taste like cherry? The drink menu is $12 for pineapple juice and some booze. I tried asking the waitress for drink recommendation and she didn't know the bar menu. When I said I didn't like my drink, she didn't do anything to correct it. I implore this place to really beef up their bar program, especially with their prices. I get it's Old Town and it's easy to appeal to the lowest common denominator but their branding is selling something they can't deliver on. Otherwise for the best tiki cocktails in the Valley, UnderTow is your choice. For a Polynesian restaurant, Hulas blows this place out of the water, which is saying something because that bar isn't exactly high either. read more

I had a wonderful time at the Drunk Munk! A friend and I scooted through Old Town to get here and we loved the experience. There are a ton of different options on the menu. I opted for the Genghis sushi roll. It was awesome. Lots of flavor. They have frozen drinks alongside their specialty cocktails. I tried the Almond Joy and the Mango Daiquiri, which were both AMAZING frozen cocktails. I would recommend them both.
