Came in for happy hour last night and was just whelmed. Not under, not over. What I liked: They kept the Stetson salad on the menu. Very nice homage The decor is very cool The seats were comfy (hey, this is important!) What I didn't like: The drinks were not well-balanced. I had a mojito and a traditional daiquiri, which are both very classic and very easy cocktails, and neither were very good. Being a tiki bar this should absolutely be something they get right. They've got some major competitors in the area. Our server seemed to not understand pretty much anything and barely said two words to us. He just silently took our orders. In fact, the other staff and servers walking by seemed more attentive to us than him. The food prices are a bit insane. The Stetson salad was $18! My friends and I were in town for a few days and it was my very 1st time to Scottsdale. We went to a lot of bars. The Drunk Monk, is the place. We sat at the U shaped bar, and ordered different drinks throughout the evening. All the bartenders and bartendress were fantastic. Colin, however is the reason we sat and drank most of the night, trying out new and different things. He gets the shout out, because he went the extra mile for us all evening, and he did so, not just for us, but for everyone sitting at the U shaped bar. This man has a way of making Everyone feel special. Thank-You Colin for connecting with your patrons, for making delicious elixirs with love and attention to detail, but most of all for making all your patrons including us feel valued. We appreciate you! The Drunk Monk Owner and Management get 5 stars for: 1. hiring people who are kind, attentive and have that something extra we all hope for in the employees who represent our businesses. LMFAO there's something in the MF'n water! Thank goodness the Drunk Munk took over that Cowboy crap in Old Town. It's so good! This mango mojito was bomb it was light and refreshing! The passion fruit daiquiri time had me wishing I was headed to Maya to dance around the pool. The banana hammock was a bit too sweet but I think half of it would be wonderful. My final drink, the Mango Tango was perfect. This is a wonderful summer spot for drinks. The menu doesn't have commas so just ask which drinks require you to pick flavors. We didn't get any food but it all smelled pretty good. Our waitress was super sweet. Date Rating: 3 out of 5. Back in 2017 I was seeing this guy, we called him Mr. Big. Our relationship was toxic and exciting and very memorable. Like sneaking off on lunch breaks to see him exciting. He broke up with me by texting me he got a new girlfriend and couldn't see me anymore while I was out partying. :( he pops up 8 months later in my LinkedIn messages saying how he missed me so I saw him again... just for him to say that he needed an "emotional connection" and we just didn't have it anymore. Imagine my surprise when I get this Snapchat message from him last week commenting on how nice I looked in my workout clothes. Then he asked me on a date and because I'm a Grade A dummy, I said yes. I make sure I look amazing and slathered my body with Fenty Body Lava and sprayed Tom Ford all down my neck. In my mind, I was gonna make him sweat. He opens the door for me, pulls out my seat, tells me I look amazing... classic BS. We order our drinks and then I grill him on why he's come back (they all come back at some point. Every single one.) he says he misses my sarcasm and company. How no one he's been with has been as open and understanding as me. How I was so fun and he should have never left me the first or the second time... blah blah. It was such a great lesson that the majority of these idiots do not know what they want. Everything he was looking for I was giving him on a silver platter and he had to do almost nothing for it. It was a full circle moment that you should always go where you're appreciated. Also having higher standards just saves you the headache. Satisfied with my poetic justice, we shared a couple more drinks and had some pleasant conversation and he picked up the tab. The food was ok at best. Very basic menu and widely overpriced for bad quality ingredients. Also, it's mainly tacos and sushi which is a confusing mix. Not to mention, their grilled cheese sticks are Texas toast with Kraft singles cut into strips for ~$13. Not worth it. I very much enjoyed my visit to the drunk munk. The drinks were excellent. We had a mai tai, hula hula, and Zombie Kitty. All were excellent. The hula hula had muddled jalapeños and that added a great flavor. The zombie kitty had a good mixture of the two whiskeys. The mai tai had a great rich flavor and for the second round we all had mai tais. Appetizers we tried were the bottle rockets, chicken tempura, coconut shrimp and chips and salsa. I understand the managements response as to the number of ingredients to make a specialty drink, however that is just an excuse for not properly having a sufficient amount of staff to cover a weekend brunch. This is NOT my first time in a tiki type bar/restaurant and had wonderful experience in the one in San Diego. There I took advantage of trying all their specialty drinks , with one bartender managing the bar. This bartender was fast and consistent and I was not sitting at the bar. Though I appreciate your response- I feel it's just an excuse and one that is not even justified. We came in after spending several hours at the botanical garden. Hot and annoyed, we dragged ourselves in for a cold drink. We did not expect to spend the next four hours at the bar! Read an article on this establishment and wanted to check it out. Great vibe and atmosphere. Menu is large and as you can imagine the cocktail menu is tropical and vast. The chi chi was highly recommended. Was a tab bit early for me to drink, but did get a beer. They have several beers on tap and also several bottles including Tiger and Tsingtao. I love the concept and the menu has some great options! My only concern is that some of the drinks has dairy despite the description only mentioning coconut cream which is non-dairy. I was super disappointed when I ordered my drink and found out I couldn't drink it. I just wish the menu clearly labeled which of their cocktails had dairy has an ingredient. People be aware! It's not typical that cocktails have dairy as an ingredient and the drink description implied coconut cream, which made me think it was safe for me to drink. Being that so many people today don't drink dairy, it might be wise to clearly state on your menu description major ingredients such as ice cream. It's just misleading. read more

This place has a lot of potential. The drinks are on point. The food when I went as they first opened was absolutely worth coming back for. But for some reason on our second visit about a month later they decided to start turning the place into a nightclub really early in the evening. Like during prime time dinner time. Loud music totally has its place but not at dinner time. At 7pm on a Friday this place was dead. I can see why. This is coming from a guy who has no problem going to the entertainment district in Scottsdale to listen to some loud EDM so it's not some old guy loud noises rant. It's how early they're doing it. If you want a hybrid nightclub/restaurant, start the loud music at 10. We went to The Montauk after having a drink at Drunk Munk and they have the music up because it's the weekend but it was half the volume so you can still hear your friends talk. Tell your owner to walk over there, match that volume until actual late night party time, or say screw it, go full nightclub, and drop the quality of your ingredients and drinks because they don't need to be that good for a nightclub. You're killing the potential you have here. Phoenix only has Hula Modern Tiki for a restaurant Tiki bar and they're not very good. My first visit showed me that you were much better and then out of nowhere it felt like you already went under new ownership. read more

Plate could use something else besides a pile of rice. Velvet and Baby mama had the Mahi tacos. They said a three. Dry and bland. Pantalones had the pulled pork bao buns. He said very good. Our first time here. My sister myself and 9 yr old nephew. We were seated outside quickly on a Sunday night. Sunday is all day and night happy hour. We ordered 2 specialty colada and a Virgin for nephew. Good drinks on special for $7 instead of $12 i believe. We ordered 6 apps and my sister ordered a meal for her and son to share. They were half price so around $6 each give or take. They were great thats why im doing 5 stars service was good and we were told how many pieces were in apps. We were still hungry so we ordered 3 more apps. Coconut shrimp i believe was only 3 pieces. Bottle rockets 2 pieces, ribs 5 small pieces, chicken skewers 3 pieces. I would not pay full price if this is what you get. But they were so tasty will be back for HH. Bill was $87 which we were ok with since I enjoyed so much. But im not sure if I would have been ok with paying $140. But when food is great and they tell you what your getting up front im fine paying more. Please give them a try. read more
