Went here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly we only had to wait for 15 minutes. The menu has a lot to offer which you wouldn't expect since it's called the "egg bistro" they also have a lunch menu that has sandwiches and burgers. We ordered the breakfast sandwich called the Monte Cristo, which was ham and cheese with French toast bread served with syrup. & the crab eggs Benedict both came with home fries. Will visit again and possibly try the burger they had a fried pickle burger which sounds good! read more

Finally tried this place. Noise level was ear splitting to a painful, head throbbing level. If you come here on the weekend, come early or be prepared to wait with a line that spills out onto the sidewalk. The coffee is average, but they have infused-pancakes: read blueberries galore inside the pancakes among other fruits you may choose to have infused into your pancakes. Roasted potatoes are the only side dish I've tried. They're interesting-tasty, but come whole to your table-reminding me of something you would have as a dinner side. Probably could improve by cutting them into bite sized pieces and maybe sauté them with a bit of onions and bell peppers. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient. The hostess was very friendly. The atmosphere is very cheery. Located in the Strawbridge Marketplace it's very convenient to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront-15 minute drive. The food was very tasty! I've been coming for a few months now. It's never gotten boring or awful. My husband begs to go here every Sunday! Even when we agree to sleep in! It does get packed on a Sunday, but what can you expect. The closer to noon, the busier it gets. The staff really try to get you in as quick as possible. Egg Bistro Catering Review - When visiting the Southside or Suffolk we always try to stop and get a meal at one of The Egg locations... those of us on the Peninsula would love to see a location open on this side of the HRBT (but that's not why I'm posting this review). We had seen (and tasted) what the Egg Bistro serves when catering at some beach events in the past, so when the time came to look for catering choices for our daughter's wedding, our first call was to Michael Touhey at The Egg Bistro. We were extremely happy with everything. We met with Michael a few months before the wedding and discussed various ideas for both the reception and dinner. He provided some good recommendations and advice and we eventually settled on a menu. He prepared a very competitive and fair proposal that also included support chefs, servers, and a bartender. As with what always happens with these events, we requested some late changes and he was very accommodating and made the requested changes within our budget. For the cocktail hour we went with the skewered beef tenderloin, vegetable platters, and caprese skewers (we also provided homemade Greek tiropitakia and spanakopita that the team baked before the reception). For the buffet dinner we chose pulled pork barbecue, Chicken Osso Bucco, house garden salad, vegetable medley, jalapeño / bacon mac & cheese, and a mashed potato bar. The hit of the cocktail hour was the skewered beef tenderloin... They are so good and tender, you can't eat just one. The dinner was awesome - the pulled pork was moist and tasted amazing (you can never go wrong with their bbq). The chicken was a new entree on the catering menu... it was like an oversized and meaty drumette that was seasoned and prepared to perfection. Everybody loved the mashed potato bar - roasted garlic mashed potatoes with all the fix'ins. The mac and cheese was also a hit. And I can't forget the salad dressings - the homemade ranch and balsamic vinaigrette were great. Michael's support team were equally amazing... knew exactly what to do when they arrived and worked their tails off the entire night. So so experience today. Sat down at a dirty table that was apologetically cleaned by our server. Ordered a flight of mimosas and on the her next visit ordered breakfast. Mimosas arrived at the same time as the food. Country fried steak and eggs were cooked correctly but none of the food had any character or noticeable flavor. Hash brown cubes just deep fried, no seasoning. Mimosas were made with syrup bases that overpowered the sparkling wine, not enjoyable. Restaurant is noisier than it should be. read more

Wow. The Egg Bistro is your go to in Virginia Beach. I stumbled upon this place on a cross country road trip back in early February and we were trying to make it to the beach. Our car broke down in what was called Strawbridge Shopping Center. We had no choice but to visit this breakfast/lunch diner. They call it brunch there. I will definitely call mid morning breakfast "brunch" from now on. Nebraska is truly missing out on this south eastern oasis. Right off the opening of the doors, we were greeted with comfort and genuine hospitality that made us feel more then welcome. Almost like it was our Auntie Delilahs communal gathering, a hometown hero who offers the best dang biscuits in the state for all to enjoy. The most delightful neighborhood gathering. Slap me silly because the hostess recommended a house Bloody Mary and a Tropical Sunshine Mimosa while we waited for our server who was "in the weeds". the restaurant was slammed. We wouldn't have known unless we were informed which was very impressive. Our server, Graicen, greeted us holding 6 plates on her arms and birdies she will be right with us. I think the note pads full of orders signaled there was a plenty of hungry civilians here to enjoy a local novelty. We were thrilled. How this young woman and the entire team was balancing the high performance pace of artisan crafted meals demanded by what seemed like an entire city rallying with loaded guns and pitch forks, demanding fresh omelets and made from scratch pancakes. We're they under pressure? Not sure. But it's safe to say this bistro is a 8th wonder of the world. The entire experience was unforgettable. We left completely mesmerized wondering how a simple breakfast made us feel like we just laid down for a 1 hour full body showdown from the best masseuse in the world. And it doesn't even stop there. Graicen walked us out to give us the best directions to the beach for the ultimate Virginia Beach experience. When she noticed our car was broke down she popped open the hood, fizzled around with some gadgets and wires and told us to start her up. I had my first visit to The Egg Bistro this past Sunday. We ordered the french toast ($10.99) and Bob's biscuits and gravy($8.19). Both meals were DELICIOUS! I haven't had great biscuits and gravy since living in NC. I had the cubed hash browns with my french toast and they were so crispy and flavorful. We also ordered the flight of mimosas and let our waitress choose the flavors. The peach pear was my favorite! I am not a breakfast person but I highly recommend giving The Egg Bistro a shot! The place is great for breakfast and lunch. I came in at 0715 because I was starving for some good breakfast food. What I got was amazing food for a great price. I must admit when I first looked at the price I thought I was going to get a rather small portion of food. Not at all! I'm a pretty big guy that loves to eat and I left pretty satisfied. As soon as I got my food I immediately snapped it to my friends and said "look what I got for practicality nothing. Service was just as excellent as the food. This review isn't great mainly because of the management. I went on Mother's Day and it was packed. I understand that it is naturally difficult to fit everyone in. However, the manager just couldn't seat one person for an hour at the bar! With seats open! It took them an hour to seat me at the bar. There were open seats between groups of people and I still had to wait. When I finally was seated, all of the seats next to me were taken, there was no break between groups then. Additionally, a couple sat down at the bar before me without being seated by a hostess. So I decided to sit down since they did and it wasn't being managed correctly. The manager asked me to go back and wait but left that couple seated at the bar; "called it a mistake". Without correction?? Terrible. The only good thing about my visit was the food and my waitress/barista, Megan. She was great and recommended ways to make my meal better. Very attentive and friendly. This was my first visit to this location and I have to say I was impressed! From the time we walked in to the time we walked out was 40 minutes. On a Saturday morning at the Greenbrier location we would still be waiting. We sat at the bar and our food arrive before I could take 2 sips of my coffee which was great. It's was hot, delicious and plenty of it. Unfortunately I don't remember our waitress's name but she was awesome as well. We will definitely be going to this location from now on. read more
