We visited for the first time since moving to asheville. We had passed b many times and thought why not! The inside is cozy, we were greeted right away. Our server was as right there to get us drinks and explain the buffet since we had never been there. It seafood buffet night. We started with the salad bar which was so yummy (there's not many left around). We decided to have the food bar. Big disappointment!!!! The fresh was rubber and seemed very frozen tasting. Their food is always so good and I absolutely love that you can get the salad bar by itself as a meal! The staff was always super friendly and helpful! I bet they still are! I decided to check out the Thursday night BBQ buffet for $15.95. I was told that includes salad and desert. Okay, cool. I ordered a cup of coffee with my meal and when the bill came, with tax, my total came to $21.86. Tax on $15.86 is $1.12. I can't imagine the coffee costs $4 but I guess it does. Lame. My barely attentive waitress of whom I had to ask for 2nd cup of coffee made me wait until she stopped talking to her friends at the next table to do so, even though she saw me raise my hand. Had a great experience. We chose this place because it was very close to the cottage we were staying in for the weekend. I got the ribeye and the husband got the hamburger steak. Both came with soup/salad bar which was very good. The soup was a sausage potato and was top 5 best soups I've had in a restaurant. The ribeye was cooked well and had a great flavor. The hamburger steak was good as well with very tasty grilled onions. Our server was super nice. We ate a lot of the salad and soup so we needed to take most of our entree home. She double checked we liked the food because so much was leftover. We told her is was some of the best food we've had while traveling, which is true. The restaurant itself is cute. I could see where eating on the porch would be fun during good weather. Inside is not too dark and not too loud. They had tables and booths (we prefer tables and sometimes that's a problem). This place is always crowded so I tried today. Lunch menu not clearly marked on website but staff was outstanding in that they gave us special order. Sadly food was very salty and afraid not for us. We did not realize it's a buffet which we rarely utilize...prices were very reasonable for food which probably reason for crowds. The restaurant is so adorable as you can see from pictures and disappointed food did not match the ambiance. This place is just not worth the price anymore. $8 for a 2 year old to eat is ridiculous especially when an adults meal is $19. We quit going for a while when the prices went up to $17 per adult but it just keeps going up and the buffet isn't improving. read more

I came here on the recommendation of the front desk manager at the hotel I was staying in and I must admit I almost skipped it over in favor of an Italian place, which would definitely have been my loss. This restaurant is a slowly vanishing breed of culinary gem. A family owned local place for locals and those fortunate ones like myself who are clued into this gastronomic find. Tonight they offered a barbecue buffet, which was simply fantastic. Pork, ribs, turkey, fried chicken, and all the various sides. Not to mention the soup and salad bar. I must confess I probably did not need all I consumed, but at least I declined the dessert that came with it. Another amazing thing about here is the friendly nature of the restaurant. Not only from the servers, but the customers. Conversation flowed freely amongst several tables, good natured banter all accompanied by happy smiles. Very displeased with this place- buffet was very small, not a lot of options for my kids who are 2 and 3 (never offered a menu so we didn't know that was an option!) then we were charged full price for my kids. My ticket was $75 for 2 adults and 2 toddlers...... on top of that the food that was there was VERY bland and lacked flavor- reminded me of nursing home food. Saw this place as we were driving by and decided to check it out...must be good because the Rescue Squad is eating here. They have a great breakfast buffet with an attended fresh omlet station! Some of the many choices were crepes filled with ricotta cheese and topped with strawberry sauce (my favorite), French toast, pancakes; ham, bacon, and sausage; cheesy potatoes, hash browns, home fries, eggs Benedict and apples in sauce. On a Sunday morning I was surprised this place wasn't busier. We had a very short wait and were very pleased with our meal. At one of the more well known places we would have waited an hour. I remember this place from years ago. Great food I remember. Well I'm sad to say the past 2 times I've been there have not been the best. They usually do 2 bars of hot food , both times they were down to one. Real disappointing , can't even say we enjoyed it. If I had a choice I'd pick the big chain buffet place over here for what they charge. This past time it was for lunch. They have changed their hours. I guess business is not what they expect, these could all be the reason, price higher and less food and the quality has gone down. One thing I was shocked at is they are now serving instant mashed potatoes which we all know there is nothing like real mashed! I am basing this on the past 2 visits , when telling the cashier she acted like she hears this stuff all the time and don't care. Told her about the instant potatoes her response was when they are busy they have to make them not sure if she was implying that normally they maybe real? Most of the hot food needed replacing, and didn't appear fresh. I would have taken pictures but too many people near getting food. Not sure if we will go back. This restaurant is totally awesome. The wait staff is friendly. When they are busy, you may have to wait a little while, but it's worth it.

I am here eating now and it's great that the have signs saying to wear a mask when at the buffet however if they don't enforce it what's the point. I just watched a man walk up to the buffet without his mask and was coughing all over around the food while he filled his plate. Let's hope he doesn't have the COVID. The food is nowhere near worth the price and it was stale/cold. Arguably we did come in late but the management was rude and fit the title of " Karen " extraordinarily well but the servers were professional and courteous. I took my wife and my aging grandmother out to the Fireplace last night for a nice Prime Rib dinner and was blown away by the quality of the food, the service, and the hospitality of the staff. Being from Chicago usually you find good food or great service, but kudos to the Fireplace because they nailed it. The prime rib was perfectly seasoned and cooked, my wife's ribs were delicious and the servers were friends a d accommodating. I don't make it to Asheville often, but I know that when I'm back in town, we will be stopping again. Keep up the great work! read more

About 25 class mates met at the Fireplace for dinner. Sometimes it's hard to get good food and service with a large group of folks. We had two amazing servers, that kept our drinks filled and got all the food orders correct. The service was quick and the orders off the menu came out quick and was delicious. The ones who ate from the buffet loved the food. I had the fried sea food platter from the menu - flounder, oysters, shrimp and crab cake. While I didn't taste the crab cake the other items were delicious. The flounder was some of the best I've eaten in Asheville. The baked potato was hot and did not taste like a microwave baked potato. A friend had the prime rib and said it was some of the best prime rib in town. Lots of food for a good price. read more

This is a well managed establishment. The restrooms were squeaky clean (a critical point for me since this is a food service operation). Once we saw the seafood buffet and the salad bar - we skipped ordering from the menu. The food was hot, grease was absent with all of the deep fried foods. The fried oysters are fresh and well prepared (broiled dishes are also available). The salad bar was also a high-point; it was loaded and well maintained. The buffet selections were plentiful, the table service and prices were customer friendly. I recently retired and moved back to the area (16 months ago) and this was a memorable dining experience. The owner is extremely rude. There is no system to seating people unless you know her. She is prioritizing large groups. Even the cashier told her we had been waiting and we were standing right there, she was again very rude and dismissive saying wait your turn. Not I'm sorry for the wait, you're coming up. It's like eating in a high school lunchroom-packed full of people talking loudly. Upon arrival, it was very unclear how to get seated. There was a notebook at the register you had to sign but it didn't matter anyways because the hostess just took people to seat randomly. The food was ok, but was hard to get too. She took my nephews plate back and 2 mins she comes back out with his ribs and it's just warm. I asked her did u heat this up in a microwave and she said I don't think we own a microwave. So they took ribs off but nothing else so we go pay with our gift card that was gave to us for Christmas last year and there is no money on it. I said I know there is cause we have never been here before and lady said do u have activation receipt I said no it was gave to us as a Christmas present and she said we are extremely busy I will have to call them Tuesday and talk to card company to reactivate if there is money on there and I will call u Tuesday she said. Ok so I was going to ask the manager a question and I waited in line cause she was ringing people up and when it was my turn I said let me ask u a question and she said there is people waiting in line behind u u need to wait. I try my best not to give a bad review but after the experience I had with the front cashier this weekend I have to warn others of the rude unprofessional could care less, I have been in business for years attitude I experienced. I placed a 449.00 pick up order for Saturday November 19,2022 with pick up at 4:00 pm. I had the confirmation email of the order which included sweet tea, I was told when I arrived tea was not included in the take out price even though I had the owners response to confirm my order and showed to the cashier. she could have cared less. So we had no tea, and being from the south sweet tea goes with your meal. Sunday morning I had a 1765.00 pick up cater order and again I was treated with disrespect and an attitude. I can say there is more than1 show in town and I will be taking my orders to a different show. If you like fried chicken this is your place... holy crap what they give you if ordering off the menu it's worth the wait (they note in the menu it takes longer for the fried chicken) The buffet is a good deal for home cooked foods and they have different themes that dictate a lot of the entrees on the buffet so check with them if you are picky but for this area if you want good home-cooking at a decent price I suggest stopping in here and if ordering the buffet it's all you can eat so it's an extra value. If I could give zero stars to a restaurant I would for this one. We have been going there for several months for a family birthday luncheon, 12- 15 ladies and are always patient and polite. The last few times we have been there, the server was not just rude, but actually putting her hands up and saying "I cant do all that" among other things. The buffet was always cold, the service terrible. On more than one occasion, but today was the final straw! we called ahead for 15 people, and instead of telling us on the phone, waited until we got there and said " We can't accommodate you, putting tables together etc. Which they have been doing for several months with no problem, AND instead of bringing us menus they just came and told us our only option was the buffet, they were not ALLOWING us to order from the menu!!!! Do you believe that? WE ARE NOT ALLOWING YOU TO ORDER FROM THE MENU!!!! Please don't waste your time or money, the staff and the owner are EXTREMLY Rude, the food cold and not that good!! This is one of our favorite places for Sunday morning breakfast! The buffet is amazing. My husband loves the cheese grits, crepes and eggs Benedict. I love the biscuits & gravy! I would give it 5 stars but the only downfall is their "egg guy." He is rude and condescending every time we go. We have learned to just avoid his station.
