Three stars just for the superior servers! I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately it was a 1 star for the food. Sadly, the bread was the star - 10/10 recommend ordering. Brussel sprouts were meh, the flavor was far too pungent. The crab salad was awful, bland with a very odd pickled something on the side, and the crab oddly tasted like it had been soaked in water. The scallops were overcooked and had a strange bbq sauce with random strung green beans over the top. The octopus was cooked well, but the potatoes and chorizo were so garlicky it burnt your tongue and taste buds. The duck was cold and tragic. It has a beet sauce on top which made the presentation alone really unappetizing. The menu items just didn't seem to pair well and I hate to say that, but I'm just being honest. Back to the servers... they were phenomenal and apologetic and really tried to make up for the food. We had a magical evening nonetheless. I loved this place! I was grabbing a drink while waiting for a concert and wanted something a bit more secluded. It was perfect! They put me in the "Bird Cage", which was a beautiful private room in the back behind the bar. If you have the chance, explore around the hotel. it is beautiful. I believe it was once the Four Seasons before they moved by Pike Place. The building has some beautiful history showing in it's walls and the drinks were fabulous. read more

The people watching was fun too - think fascinators, LV shoes, pants that cost more than my college education...anyway, the service was also delightful. Definitely on the pricey side for a high tea (@$95 pp before cocktails) but it was at a very lovely establishment located in a very lovely hotel and also the Mama's deserve it. One more note: the presentation and quality of all the classic treats did not disappoint and I also learned on that day that you have not lived until you've eaten crab on paprika shortbread. I had great memories from the older George: many afternoon tea/ high teas before hitting up Penelope spa with my girlfriends. Came here for birthdays, baby showers, kids high tea! The new place is gorgeous. Stunning even. Came here this week for breakfast. The decor was the highlight. It was an occasion breakfast. I got there before my friend did. Had a reservation and so on too. I love ricotta pancakes: so I just said I'll have the pancakes but don't put them in till my friend arrive and order. The server I guess didn't hear anything after pancakes. So she put it in. And told me I have 7 minutes or so for my friend to arrive. Didn't want to be rude, I asked again. She apologized for missing the hold my order part. But I guess it was already made? By the time my friend came, they were closed. We were told you can't order anything at all except coffee. We were actually ok with ordering from lunch menu too since I wanted their crudo and so on. After 15 minutes later.. they told us to take the pancakes now or else they might have to throw them out?! I guess I should've just told them to throw them out. The one time I didn't take a picture of my food: this was it. It was a cold stack of very dried pancakes.. not assembled to serve! Literally! Pancakes. 3 little cups of fruit.. not sure which goes where. No powder sugar or nothing. Literally, the least appetizing pancakes. I don't know why we took it. We should have just walked out and have lunch elsewhere. Which we did anyway. But the terrible service! Or just everyone wants to leave at 11 am? Not sure what it was. We also got water just once. Left such a terrible taste! Both from food and service. Such a shame. I had incredible meals here before!! The worse pancakes ever bar none with the equally bad / worst service. Yum! I came for a birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. We were seated very promptly and our server was very quick to come and take our orders. Food service was relatively slow, but our server brought out some wine to keep up satiated while we waited. I tried the scallops with forbidden rice. They were so flavorful and delicious. Celebrated Valentine's Day aka our 1st Date anniversary with each other at The George (located at their Fairmont Hotel). Started our night with the Temperance Collins. It's one of their non alcoholic drinks w/ Seedlip, Pineapple, Cinnamon, and Soda. The taste was funky in a good way but may not be everyone's mock tail. Our first eat was their House made Nori Sourdough w/ Artisanal Butter, and Nori Salt. Definitely needed to clean up the sauces on the dishes to come . Next up was the Fried Cauliflower w/ Romesco, Castelvetrano Olive, and Calabrian Infused Honey. They used purple cauliflower so it looks over charred but they could have used alittle more love. SAUCE was fire! 2nd appetizer was the Rabbit Agnolotti w/ Pancetta, Sage Beurre Noisette, and Hazelnuts. This was good but not the best. Hazelnuts were a beautiful touch and added so much to this dish. 1st entree is their Black Cod w/ Chorizo, Cannellini Bean, Sweet Pepper Broth, and Brown Anchovy. Wish the Anchovy butter was left on the side so the skin would stay crisp but the cod was delicious nonetheless. 2nd we got the 10oz Steak Frites w/ Bone Marrow Butter, and Arugula. Tenderloin was cooked perfectly, and the fries were crisp. What else can you ask for. We finished off with the Basque Cheesecake. Not a good finish to the meal, needed more flavor and heavier than we were used to. Meal did have its highs and lows. The ambiance and the staff are amazing as soon as we walked in. From start to finish I'd rate this place a 10/10! We came for my moms 70th birthday & it did not disappoint. Paired with delicious food was great service. I got the cod which I think was fanatic, my mom got the duck and my fiancé got the steak- for me those were like an 8/10 but my cod was 10/10! All the sides we got, which were a lot, we're great! French onion soup, fried, Brussels, salmon belly, bread etc. all delicious. I'm also obsessed with the ambiance, aesthetically this place is a dream. I love it! The food was meh (my friends and I split the chanterelles gnudi, avocado toast, and bibb & crab salad). Not terrible but not very good in my opinion and certainly not worth the price. Service was incredibly slow (it shouldn't take 5-10 minutes for drip coffee) and our server actually forgot my friend's croissant but pretended he didn't. She didn't get it until after she had already finished her main course. There were only two single-occupancy restrooms that you had to leave the restaurant to get to, there was a line, they smelled, and they were just not what I expected at such a nice hotel. The George is a modern american restaurant inside the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. The restaurant is a short walk from downtown Seattle Theatres (5th, Paramount, ACT). Parking nearby is limited to expensive downtown lots. The menu selection is not that great. The range of dishes isn't huge and I don't really see any appetizers that appeal to me. Food quality is good but not great, certainly not justifying the pricey menu costs. On one visit I had the roasted chicken (which was quite good) and my wife had the Scallops (also good). Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. Generally not recommended. Decent not amazing food, at high costs. read more

When I say this is a decadent brunch, I mean it's DECADENT and I loved every bite of it! I'm a vegetarian so not a huge amount of options but I got the chanterelles gnudi which was almost like a gnocchi. The inside was filled with a creamy ricotta cheese which made it rich. There were these chantarelles mushrooms that were chewy and it seemed like there was some kind of truffle oil on them. All of it was covered in this nutty pesto that tied the dish all together. The chef here really knows how to make AMAZING BENEDICT!!! Came here on a Saturday early afternoon without reservation and the 3 of us got seated right away. We got the charlotte benedict and the pancakes. The benedict here is one of the best I've ever had. The egg is perfectly cooked and flavorful. The salmon tasted fresh and not too salty. The bread was so soft and easy to chew. Everything goes so well together and it just blends and melts in your mouth. I've been to many instagrammy hotels in the past but the ambience of this place is breathtaking. Every little detail is so classy yet modern. I love the aesthetic chandelier in the main dining room. This is now my favorite brunch place in Seattle and I can't wait to come back! read more

I am absolutely in love with this place. They did such an amazing job renovating this place. It looks so elegant and modern at the same time. We had very good experience coming there few times and enjoying our meals both at the bar and at the dining area. Our favorites on the menu: salmon crudo is absolutely must have (melting tender with lots of flavors) bibb & crabb salad is very good light appetizer to start with also I highly recommend painted hills beef tartar Also I highly recommend to get fries that comes with sun dried tomatoes! From the main menu we always choose fish or scallops because its perfectly prepared and goes very good with poimmet aligot that also absolutely must try. From pasta dishes I highly recommend Agnolotti with lamb and morel mushrooms. This dish has such a rich flavors with local seasonal morel mushrooms. From dessert: I always order baked Alaska! I love this dessert it comes with cognac and the seared it. It taste like coconut ice cream with seared whipped cream. I also want to give shotout to Mike & Tessa. They are great team! We had amazing time and chat while seating at the bar with them. Mike does an amazing job creating cocktails and we were lucky to try some of his inventions. He did amazing job pairing cocktails for our meals. Also his wine recommendations were so good. We also got chance to meet manager Viktoria that does amazing job managing this restaurant. Also we are very excited to hear about tea ceremony that they are doing and we would come some time to try it. This is one of my favorite places in Downtown Seattle. The architecture and furniture is absolutely gorgeous - but that's about all I can say that's positive! I was super excited to come here for brunch as the photos of the restaurant were so stunning - and don't get me wrong, the place was stunning! But, there was no music and energy inside was pretty drab. Service was quite slow as well. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was alright. Not good, not bad. The coffee was pretty darn good, though. We ordered eggs in purgatory, the French omelet, and the burger. Everything came out pretty room temperature and we thought our waiter must have forgot to pick it up. Everything was offensively under seasoned and we had to ask for salt to put on everything!!! The eggs in purgatory was the only thing I would order again, but it wasn't any stand out to other brunch meals I've had. The drinks wonderful and the food is good too. The only thing is, I love a good friendly waiter and banter, but when I feel like you're mocking me, it's too much. Update: Never received a follow-up from the manager as promised. Update: I received a call from the manager to go over our visit. I really appreciate that he called. I'll start off with the food and service which was good. For the not so good, we came here for the 3 course Mother's Day brunch. It was listed online separate from their regular weekend brunch menu. I actually called a few days ago and left a message to see if they were offering both today. Unfortunately, no one called back which is another frustrating problem. You can never get anyone to answer the phone . When we did arrive I found out that the Weekend Brunch is only offered from noon on and the Mother's Day brunch menu had been deleted from the website. This was disappointing since their weekend brunch menu is different from their Breakfast menu. There is nowhere on the online weekend 3 course menu which states the time frame for brunch. I also don't know of many restaurants that don't start brunch earlier. It was also my daughters birthday which I noted as a special occasion in a message when making the reservation. I got a message acknowledging it so I thought they would do something a little extra special for her. There was no mention of her birthday at all. We used to be regulars when this was the Georgian room. It used to feel like a special place to dine. This was a very different experience. read more

My kids and I just had breakfast at one of the most beautiful restaurant in Seattle! The George decor is historic and stunning! Service is on point. Very polite staff. Food is 8.5 out of 10. Food all had good flavors but we had multiple issues with multiple dishes ordered. For the price tag, the dishes should be flawless. Our server was very nice but no present very often. We waited long periods in between being checked on. The bread was burnt. The crab salad barely had any crab for $26. The artichoke had great flavor but they didn't remove the thistle and 2 of us had it stuck in our throat most of the meal. Scallop entree was great. My friend said all of the seafood in her $65 bouillabaisse was over cooked. The "baked" Alaska was not "baked". We had to explain to our waitress that the grand marnier did not burn off and it literally tasted like a shot of orange liquor was poured all over the top... and NOT in a good way. 3rd attempt at the dessert she torched the meringue directly at the table and it was much more successful. read more

Went for brunch with my friend visiting from Florida. I will start this review by stating, the brunch scene in Seattle is lacking in comparison to Florida. So we felt The George is what would provide us with a similar experience to those in Florida. The hotel is beautiful. You are taken away by it's beauty the second you walk in. The decorations and ambience transport you back in time or to Europe. We made reservations for our brunch, which I believe may be the only way to eat here. The restaurant has great lighting and gave us that brunch vibe that we were seeking. The service was excellent. We had a very attentive waitress who was able to make great recommendations. The food was just ok. We also felt the menu was very basic with their brunch options. We would've loved to have seen a little more creativity, but nonetheless, we enjoyed the overall experience. We ordered a cocktail each and took them to the bar after we paid for our meals. The bar area is very cozy and intimate. Great for dates or even hanging out with close friends. I notice they have a tea time that I would love to come back and experience as well. I would recommend checking out this place for a nice brunch with your partner, family, and/or friends. My go-to for a gorgeous location and amazing food. The George is my favorite spot to take friends who are not from Seattle. Why? It has ambience that I only find in Chicago and New York with service unmatched in Seattle. The food is always solid. Is the cuisine the best of the best? I am being honest when I say that it will never disappoint. Has it reached the echelon of comparable restaurants in town? Not yet. I always choose the George over the other places with a lot of hype. The other restaurants do not provide anything close to the gorgeous atmosphere and welcoming service. You would think that the air of pretension would by high but I couldn't disagree more. If you want great food, perfect design and a reason to be proud of the Seattle dining scene I would suggest The George. They also have a rentable area behind the bar that I have yet to take advantage of called The Birdcage. Go peek if it's not occupied and daydream about all the possibilities. read more

Long overdue but my experience in August for a private dining event with The George was absolutely phenomenal. They were so accommodating, friendly, and attentive. I only WISH this staff and space had been available when we were wedding planning as I would've loved to have this team for our Rehearsal Dinner. Bertram was our go-to for the evening and he was probably the nicest and most attentive server I've had the pleasure of working with. We were a group of 12 and in conjunction with two of his peers, they constantly made sure our drinks were replenished and food orders were carried out perfectly. Leading up to the event I worked with Riley who was incredibly patient through me finalizing RSVPs, adjusting menus, and coordinating floral delivery. Riley also worked with my husband behind the scenes for a birthday cake drop-off. I would enthusiastically recommend and encourage anyone thinking about an event here to do it! Went for brunch on the weekend. Firstly, the interior of this restaurant is beautiful. We had reservations and were seated quickly. I got the chicken & waffles and 75% of my waffle was burnt and only the 25% of my waffle on the edge was edible. It was a crunchy bubble waffle with no fluffiness whatsoever. Also, there is no side of syrup. For the chicken, it was nicely cooked and crispy, but had zero flavor. My partner got the Olympic Breakfast and the eggs were velvety and potatoes were seasoned well, but the chicken sausage was very bland. He never came to ask us if we were okay nor apologize for the delay. They could've offered us bread or something. I even had to get up to ask for water. The hostess ashley was the saving grace. She apologized for everything and took our pictures while we waited for the food but I felt like that was a form of distraction. It's return for our trouble, they allowed us to split the bill individually and offered one parking validation. Luckily the food was good but I won't be going back with a large group. We didn't get greeted after we were seated, another waitress came to take our drink order and 5 mins later our actual server showed up (asking if we wanted drinks), besides dropping off our food, we didn't see her again, and had to flag her down for the bill and then 5 mins later for the payment. OK now we finally have an excellent option for a lunch salad downtown for those of us who are in the professional field. The George restaurant at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The lobster salad is just ridiculous and everything on it is high-quality and delicious. Taking business clients out for lunches has really been a struggle as you can see in my reviews locally. We still have restaurants that still think they're in the pandemic (see my review of Cortina). I had forgotten about the ambience and history of the Fairmont Olympic hotel downtown Seattle. Being just a few blocks away I had an epiphany today to give it a shot and it was 5-Stars. The service was amazing. The staff were amazing and the environment was amazing. I can say you're going to be seeing me more frequently with my business customers. read more
