I can't believe we didn't try this place sooner. Good food, drinks, music. We forgot to take pictures because we were there catching up with friends and listening to music. For drinks the guys got some beers and the ladies had vodka cocktails (I wish I could remember the name of the one I had, it was one of their specialty ones and it was delicious). Food was amazing!! We had the Wagyu Cheeseburger and it was 5 star excellent and only $11! My son had the Wagyu Chicken Fried Steak and he gave it 5 stars too! The French fries were crispy and hot on some of the trays and cold and crispy on others. My 4 year old granddaughter had super hot fries on her kids chicken fingers and the fries served with my cheeseburger were cold so we traded fries. Parents- you might want to check the temperature of the kids meals before they eat. The restaurant is super cute and it's huge! There was live entertainment outside and it was crowded there so we sat inside. There are many rooms with lots of spaced out seating - both tables and chairs and booths. Alexandra was our server and she was very friendly and helpful. She came to let us know that the kitchen was backed up with orders and there was a delay in getting our food. I appreciate updates like that, especially when dining with our 3 grandkids. We ordered 3 pieces of the chocolate cake "to go". We sent a couple slices home with my sons family and one for me to split with hubby. Sharing a slice was the perfect amount and we had a glass of milk at home to go with it. I decided to stop in one afternoon for some lunch and a drink while I was out running errands. I thought the neighborhood where the restaurant is located was very charming. I went in and sat at the bar since I was dining alone. Bartender was friendly and nice so this review has nothing to do with her service. The food itself was a complete disappointment. I ordered the soup and sandwich. First of all, the soup was lukewarm at best. And my grilled cheese was cold. The thing about a grilled cheese sandwich is that it's simple, you really can't mess it up but they somehow did. How was the cheese not melted??? How?? It's literally in the name. Oh and not to mention, they also brought me someone else's food order entirely at first and then had to take it back and find my order. I do not see myself ever going back. We come here once a month and I have to say these reviews are killing me... As a native Texan... chili should have beans in it. If you're unsure ask :) As far as their pizza, it's honestly amazing. You can tell The dough is fresh and airy. I got the Don pizza today and it was so good! Lots of meat toppings and wasn't dripping with grease. Their side salads are also very good. To start the environment is wonderful. The hostesses are kind of incompetent. They had us wait outside for 30 minutes for a table that was available the whole time. The wait staff is amazing but are so spread out that they take forever to come back around. The fried pickles were great. My wife had the pizza and said that there was no taste. The burger wasn't that great it was over cooked and so much pepper in the beef. The fries were great though. This place has a load of potential the just need to get some stuff figured out. read more

Seated quickly after some back and fourth over booth vs. table with hostess. Slow to serve on slow Saturday - surprised. Food is what you would expect from a small cafe. I had the "wagyu" steak fried steak. Meh... hash browns left to be desired and the eggs and hash browns were colder than one would expect. Steak gravy fire hot. So some disconnect in preparation maybe. Fair price for quality of food but I have an issue with a "service fee" using a credit card?? Will not return for that reason and warn others - no notice or being informed before bill arrived. Ambiance is no different than every other cafe in a small town ambiance the same, country shiplap and tvs... if your trying offset your CC fees on patrons maybe not a good idea. read more

Cute place right in Prosper. They have a good selection of food and sides. I tried the chicken BLT and it was good but a bit messy with all the toppings being so slippery! The fries were excellent. We were going to get cocktails but they were all $12 each and that seemed like a lot when the sandwiches were about the same. We were here for lunch but happy hour prices are much more reasonable. I believe it is from 1-5pm but not positive. I would like to come back for the music and see how that goes. Our waitress was good and the guy in the cubs hat who delivered our meal was super nice. This is a real gem in old downtown Prosper. The food is wonderful. We have had it from Uber Eats and now we have been in to experience all of the things. I'm just going to drop the service bomb. It was lacking. That being said there is a hiring problem so, grace is given. The food is worth going in for without a doubt. The place is nice and we enjoyed being there. As we continue to explore the new neighborhood, friends had told us to try out The Gin in Prosper. I must say it was a pleasant surprise for a Saturday late afternoon. Not to busy but a good buzz. The bar area was rather full, the outdoors area looked like fun when I bring the kids but we decided to find a booth and a quieter setting. Got the menus, quickly and nicely greeted by the young staff. Tested her knowledge on draft beers and I must say she did well. Recommended a couple of local ones which did not disappoint. We opted to start off with some wings in Thai chili sauce. The sauce was very good, talk about finger licking good. But we did specifically ask for double / triple fried crispy wings. And when the order appeared rather quickly I was doubtful they would be. Did mention it to the waitress who said she did add it to the ticket but I guess the chef didn't read that bit. Normally when you have an appetizer you get to finish it before your main course arrives. Our main course arrived sooner than expected. I ordered the chicken pesto pizza. As we are familiar with NY style pizza I asked the waitress if they were up to the challenge claiming it was Neapolitan style. To be very frank, the crust on the body was good. Only the amount of dough around the crust was a little doughy. If that makes sense. Told them to spread it out a little more or reduce the amount of dough. As for the flavor, not bad but then I am a sucker for balsamic drizzle on pizza. My significant other ordered the fish and chips. Wrinkle fries and remoulade sauce were good. The fish was crispy but it was very obvious that this was ready made and frozen. There was still some water coming out of the 2 pieces of fish which meant that half way through the meal, the crispy batter fell off. As an English man knowing true fish and chips, a bit of a let down as I make it better myself. However the atmosphere was good, a lot of people came in after us. Looks like the place can get busy. We used to love the cotton gin. Came at least once a week, so we were excited about the remodel. Now it's still good, but it's just not the same. It's just meh. We live just a few minutes down the street and it's never on the list when we want to go out. Again, we used to go at least once a week. What we miss: Old diner feel with locals lining up for breakfast and lunch. Now it's half empty, no old school locals. Daily specials and soups. It never got old because in addition to a long menu, there was always a special of the day. Dirty good burgers. The new burgers are better quality wagyu, but those old greasy diner burgers with various toppings just hit the spot better. The gin sampler. WHY? Why would you get rid of a menu item that literally everyone I know ordered every time they went???!! Menu variety. The new menu feels very limited Wings are good. Been enjoying all that The Gin has to offer for a few months now, and I can honestly state that it's on my fav's list. The ambiance, the staff, and the food is/are all amazing. I still can't decide which is my actual food fav though...way too difficult to choose. It's between the Hot Italian Sandwich and the wings. The Garlic Knots are a definite must have appetizer for sure, and the Wagyu hot dog or burger are yumZ. Tried this place out after finding them on Yelp. It was definitely a hidden little gem and we can't wait to go back. I was actually craving chicken friend steak and they had it and boy was it good. The mac and cheese was super creamy. Potato's had the skins (not my thing) but it had good flavor. My bad got the Italian sandwich and fries. The fries are crinkle cut but crispy and seasoned. Living in Prosper, we've been here many times. I love supporting local small businesses. Tonight we placed a to-go order for burgers, and there were several minor errors with the food. We had asked for the toppings to be on the side. Instead, they were left out entirely. Two orders were supposed to have no cheese, but the cheese was added anyway. The burgers and fries tasted great, but the disappointing part was the call about the mistakes. We were told that since the omitted items didn't "count toward the value of the meal" and since we got cheese we didn't pay for, there wasn't anything they could do. When you order food (especially after getting all the way home with it), the patrons' value experience has much more to do with accuracy and satisfaction than the "cost of goods sold." Even a token of consideration would have made the minor mistakes easier to overlook. Having them boiled down to a transaction just seemed a bit cold. read more

Nestled in downtown prosper is this nouveau rustic spot. I've been meaning to try it out and finally ordered the wagging burger and fries. Really wanted to get the helotes corn, but that will be another day. I called in my order and picked it up 15 minutes later, got home 5 minutes and it was still hot. Decent portion of crinkle fries and huge leaf of lettuce covered the patty. I'll start with the fries, because they are really really good. Despite sweating in that box, they were crispy outside and soft on inside; and great taste. You don't even need ketchup or a sauce for them. On to the burger, I don't know what I was looking for but given it is wagyu I was hoping for a very strong beefy taste....I didn't get it. Bun was good, ratio of meat, toppings and bun are good. I slipped 4 large fries in there with ketchup, Mayo and mustard and it was good burger overall. It is a knockout, no. But it is a decent burger. I'll be back to try more items on the menu. read more

Pub food to soak up alcohol. Tasted like the stuff that you would get in a '90s high school cafeteria. A LOT of over serving there. I saw a guy passed out drooling on himself at the bar on one occasion. It's ashame this place is the only choice close to windsong. NOT KiD friendly. I've seen lots of kids running around the patio having fun, not bothering anyone or anything but I always see staff members yelling at them kind of on a power trip. Loved the cowboy patrons. Living in Tx for 35 years this was unusual find for me. The cowboys came in for lunch walking in their spurs. They went out o the side area with a table of 8.
