As most reviews read their specialty is pancakes and french toasts. Highly recommend sticking to that. From the 3 dishes we ordered the french toast was good. We ordered their Huevos rancheros (tequila sunrise) and breakfast tacos and did not eat neither plate. Personally I did not think they were picture worthy so I didn't get a picture of them. Personally maybe we are picky individuals but we could not enjoy our choices. The beans and tacos felt almost cold and bland just a couple ingredients mushed together. The french toast was tasty tho that would have been a perfect breakfast alone. Service mid
I am unwell. Was 0% prepared for the enormity of the situation. The pancakes are massive and the stacks are STACKED. Please consider sharing a plate with protein on the side, or be prepared to pack it up for another meal at home. These pancakes are fluffy and generous and incredible. No notes. Two of us split the banana pancakes and an order of the Peanut Bubba Crunchy French toast, which is dipped in a peanut butter crunch and topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream. And we have made additional meals out of them since. We also enjoyed bottomless mimosas, which you can enjoy for an hour and a half!
without a doubt, the griddle cafe is a staple and a must stop when youre in LA. Thankfully, living in LA I have access to this diner regularly. The portion size for the griddle pancakes are HUGE! My favorites have been the oreo, banana, and red velvet thus far! I always go for the sunset people omelete. They offer alcoholic drinks like mimosas or bloody marys that pairs well with your breakfast/brunch! The times I've come there is never a wait time, however, this spot is SUPER busy in the weekends so beware! 10/10!
Well, bad news first. It gets super crowded and there is often a line to get in and parking can be a bear. But the line moves pretty fast. Once in the service is pretty fast and they will get your order right. They are very nice and can guide you through the menu. They have vegan, gluten free, and vegan options. We have been there several times for breakfast and lunch. They have a full bar and it looks good, but we have never tried it. The place is very clean and cute. It is small, but it is comfortable and they have some outdoor seating and a counter. The food is so good. We love their pancakes and their French toast. They have huge portions and a wide selection of pancakes and French toast. My favorite is just their regular stack with eggs and hash browns. Their French press coffee is great. We also love their tea. My grandson likes their fruity pebbles crushed French toast. If you want sugar it may be for you. I tasted and said no I don't think so. Their banana pancakes are great. They have a big selection of pancakes as I mentioned. Their waffles are great and they have tasty syrup. They even have chips with a great salsa and whatever else you want. Have fun.
The Griddle Cafe does NOT mess around with portion sizes! Everything looked so good we couldn't resist ordering extra, but the pancakes are the real star of the show. Fair warning: ONE pancake is plenty! An entire order comes with two or three gigantic pancakes, so unless you want to see food go to waste, share a plate or order single pancakes. Absolutely delicious, just come hungry (or ready to split)!
This was my 2nd visit to this cute breakfast spot off Fairfax and Sunset. If you go on the weekend the line out the door is significant but we didn't show up until close to 1:30pm so were able to get seated pretty quickly. We ordered the Banana Pancake and Gone Shrimping dish to share and were so happy with our choices! The Gone Shrimping is "egg whites scrambled with shrimp, basil pesto, fresh basil, scallions, and chopped tomato. Topped with capers and served with garlic toast" -- so yummy! The banana pancakes were HUGE and honestly might be my favorite pancakes I have ever had in life. Highly recommend this spot!
Quick service and fast to be seated. Our waitress was really helpful helping us narrow down between several options. She however did not mention just how gigantic the portion sizes were. We ordered way too much. I got the berry yellow. I found it to be good but not great. There were far too many raspberry seeds in the pancakes which kept getting stuck in my teeth which took away from my enjoyment. I wish these were strained out of the raspberry jam. I also couldn't taste much lemon flavor, it came across more as acidity.

You definitely get your money's worth, and it's easy to see why this place is so popular. Whether you're craving something sweet or savory, it's hard to go wrong here. The quality of the food alone makes it a place I'd come back to. The ambience was lively and energetic, creating a fun brunch atmosphere. The restaurant had a constant buzz from how busy it was, making it feel like a popular local spot. While it could get a little loud during peak hours, the vibrant environment added to the overall experience and made it feel like a place people genuinely enjoy visiting. The service, however, was the biggest downside of our visit. While the restaurant was busy, the staff didn't seem very attentive or welcoming. It took a while to get checked on, and it often felt like we had to flag someone down when we needed something. The overall service felt rushed and a bit unorganized, which didn't match the quality of the food. Overall, I'd still recommend The Griddle Cafe because the food was outstanding and easily deserves a 5/5. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and if the service becomes more consistent, this would easily be one of my favorite brunch spots.
The Griddle Cafe famous for its giant pancakes and popular breakfast menu. One of the most memorable things about the restaurant is the size of the pancakes. They are extremely large and the stacks can be very tall. Because of the huge portions, many people share one order with friends or family The pancakes are thick, fluffy, and sweet, with many creative flavors like red velvet, chocolate chip, and oatmeal honey. Service is so good and fast but the wait outside is crazy on weekends. The waiters are attentive and always moving. It's so fast place . The location is very small but worth the wait. The mini French press was hot off the press - black as iron. The pancake was 12" across and 3" high - a massive success of sweet warmth. The French toast was a miss - flaccid and too densely packed with a rind of cinnamon sugar. The caballero burrito was outstandingly hearty and satisfying. A side of refried beans was a good accoutrement. Overall, tough to beat this breakfast in LA or NY.
the menu here is ridiculously long, and honestly, i wouldn't mind coming back a few more times just to try their other omelette dishes because the breakfast food here always hits! this was my 2nd time here, and just like the first visit, the place was packed. i've always ended up seated at the bar because of it, but honestly i don't mind. the staff still stay attentive even during the rush, and the busy atmosphere somehow makes the place feel more lively than stressful. during this visit, i ordered the Omelette My Soul with steak, and the portion was massive. i didn't even finish the whole plate because it was so filling, but it definitely satisfied my breakfast cravings. we also got the Black Magic pancake, which is stuffed with a generous amount of crushed oreos. i barely had room left after the omelette, but i still managed to have a decent portion of the pancake since it was too good not to. if only two people are sharing it, just know you're definitely taking leftovers home. overall, this is one of those places you go to when you want giant portions, comforting breakfast food, and a fun busy brunch atmosphere.
This is pancake heaven. They are bigger than the plates. I recommend starting off with one. Very heavy and dense. Soaks up the syrup like a sponge. Delish but I was full after three bites. My big back butt thought I could do 3! I got the Teacher's Pet with cinnamon and apples baked in. I also shared a potato scramble with my friend. French press coffee hit the spot! I was wired! One meal is shareable. Period. I ended up leaving with 5 to 6 pounds of leftovers, lol. Waitress was fine. Nothing terrible, nothing spectacular. I tipped well but can't remember her name. Parking can be challenging but I was blessed to find a spot in the front.
I was a little skeptical when coming because the place was empty, but I was thoroughly surprised with just how good the food was. Interior gives more of a diner feel for sure! Our server was attentive and gave us a heads up on just how big the pancakes were, and yet I was still shocked seeing the size of them. I ordered the breakfast tacos and the Golden Ticket pancakes. The breakfast tacos were stuffed and had a great flavor to them, but be warned they are messy. The Golden Ticket pancakes were incredible, I wish I had a bigger appetite truly because I kept eating them well after I knew I was full. Highly recommend, definitely a memorable breakfast and they have a ton of different pancake flavors.
Possibly some of the largest and quality pancakes you'll ever have are served at the Griddle Cafe. As an avid brunch foodie, this spot has long been on my list to come try. I will say that an order of pancakes is def meant to share for at least 2-4 people. I got the 'Scotch on the Rocks' which was a butterscotch pancake with pecan and a few other things. Definitely one of the best pancake creations I've ever had. I got an order of the Muscle Bound Scramble (because protein) and a Bloody Mary (because brunch) and both were welcome additions to my brunch experience. I will definitely be coming back regularly. read more

It's important to know that the portions here are HUGE. Any dish that you get will be a lot larger than you are anticipating. That being said, they are still very good. We have been wanting to try Griddle Cafe for a while, but the the lines are usually too long. Today we arrived for a 10:30 AM Saturday brunch and were told the wait would be an hour, but it ended up being 40 minutes and it was definitely worth the wait. The only issue we had was that service was extremely slow and we didn't get any drink refills during our meal. We chose the Poached Y Papas Benedict, the Black Magic Pancake, and the Sunset Scramble. The Benedict was good, but I did not really enjoy the potato skins on the bottom and thought the ham portion was overly generous, but it was a unique dish and I am glad that I tried it. The pancake was extremely sweet, but very good, and a great treat to have on occasion. The scramble was very good as well, we especially like the chicken sausage. Overall a great breakfast, even though service was extremely slow. I would recommend to anyone, although due to the wait times, it's not somewhere that will be a quick stop in and out. read more

Great brunch spot with phenomenal pancakes and waffles (I don't even like breakfast food!) I love their red velvet pancakes, topped with cream cheese, with a side of gourmet sausage and french-pressed coffee. And they have bottomless mimosas and a full breakfast cocktail menu as well. read more

The service great. Our server was so nice. The vibes were great. The portion sizes are huge which was also great however the food was TRASH because it lacked seasoning. I ordered an omelette and potatoes and it so bland. I mean it had ZERO seasoning. I tried my best to doctor up the flavor with hot sauce, salt and pepper but trying to add seasonings after the food is already cooked is pointless. I would not visit again because when I eat out, I want to enjoy the food. I did not enjoy the food here. We took uber so I don't know how great the parking is. The prices are reasonable. read more

I am often next door at the DGA and I have been coming here for years. The prices seem to have skyrocketed. Almost $20.00 for an omelette is crazy. Service was ok. Took a long time for service and I have been waiting for my order to arrive. Got a Cobb Omelette. Ambiance has never been good but at least the food was decent. read more

Ambiance could be improved with lower volume on the music!!! But that's really the only thing to truly complain about at this Hollywood institution hidden away next to what used to be a Rite Aid on Sunset Boulevard. Pancakes are ENORMOUS so be prepared to take home leftovers which will give you another 2-3 meals in addition depending on how much you can eat. The flavors are delicious and highly varied. There's truly something for everyone on the extensive menu. Coffee is good and comes in a French Press for the table so you can serve yourself. Service varies but is usually friendly and efficient. Wait times can be long if you haven't arrived close to opening as Griddle does get very very busy and can have lines down the block. That's why we always arrive within a half hour of opening and then it's easy in and quick to get back out the door! That's my top tip, arrive early! Pumpkin pancakes are my favorite, they're just the right blend of real pumpkin and spice in a traditional thick n fluffy pancake. read more
Fun brunch spot with uniquely flavored, massive pancakes. Our party of 4 came around noon and we were seated within 40 minutes. Very busy so service was a bit slower ~20-30 minute wait for food. We ordered the Bluesberry pancake ($15.95 for 2 pancakes), Banana-nana pancake ($15.95 for 2 pancakes), and the Omelette My Soul with steak ($18.95). Bluesberry pancake ($15.95 for 2 pancakes): comes with blueberry cream cheese which wasn't overly sweet and a nice topping. The pancake was ok, evenly filled with blueberries (6.5/10) Banana-nana pancake ($15.95 for 2 pancakes): I enjoyed this pancake more because the embedded banana slices were sweeter! (7/10) Omelette My Soul with steak ($18.95): comes with fried potatoes which were ok. Beef wasn't decent, not super tender but not too chewy. Like others said, the omelette itself is fully cooked through so if you like a more scrambled or runny omelette, I would rec trying something else. I enjoyed the well-doneness, making it easy to get a perfect bite of egg, cheesy steak, pico de gallo, avocado, and sour cream! (8.5/10) Overall, a trendy spot to share pancakes with friends! I would come back to try their other more complex pancake flavors, but the pancakes we tried were mediocre. read more
I have been living in Los Angeles for over seven years. I have driven by this area plenty of times & I never noticed this café. It's nicely nested by the RiteAid. I believe people park over there as well however there is also street parking right in front of the cafe. Drinks are not great. Haven't tried the mimosas but the tequila they use is definitely not great. Food is overall amazing. Definitely will be back! read more
Sometimes you have to have a Food Date. Today was that day. I had been Yelping breakfast places in LA and came across The Griddle Cafe. Now, 2 hours is a long way to go for breakfast, right? But after seeing the pictures of those GIGANTIC pancakes.....I added it to my "must have" list. Hubby had a random day off, so off we go!! Gassed up and headed to LA! It's a Friday, so we're hoping it's not too busy. I think we must have got there at the tail end of the morning rush...it was PACKED!! The restaurant isn't huge but they had a lot of seating. Every table was full, but we could sit at the counter immediately. We chose to wait for a table. As we put our name on the list, we caught a glimpse of these HUGE pancakes!! Oh my goodness...I was so excited!! We only had to wait about 5 minutes and our table was ready. We got a great booth closer to the back. The place was busy but everyone seemed happy and seemed to really like their food. The servers were all very friendly and moved quick. Our waitress, Carolina, came over immediately and took our drink order and asked if we had questions. I told her I had joined the VIP club on their website and she said she would bring over the complimentary round of Blueberries and Champagne. Woohoo!! What a great way to start off a Food Date and a stress free day away from the office. Cheers!! They also have bottomless mimosas buuuuut, I had to drive home. Dang it!! We also ordered coffee. Dang!! It was good!! It came in a French Press, which was awesome! I don't know if it is a local coffee roaster or what, but it was delicious! Using the French Press just gives that fresh coffee flavor that you can't get with drip! Anyway.... Back to what we came for...PANCAKES!!!! This is our order: ME: The Teachers Pet. - Their original buttermilk pancakes with BAKED APPLES in it and on it!!! - I love pancakes! I love hot apples!! OMG!! So good together!!! HUGE!!! I can't even describe how good these were...the best pancakes EVER!! I'm not a huge sweets person and I don't usually put syrup on my pancakes. So I started eating without syrup...because of the apples, it had the perfect sweetness. Not too much, just perfect!! I never tried the syrup but I'm sure it would taste good with it too. HUBBY: Bluesberry - Original buttermilk pancakes with fresh blueberries baked in and a blueberry sour cream topping. - It looked amazing!! Hubby likes syrup so he poured just a little on them. The pancakes were already delicious without and he really loved them with syrup. The pancakes were loaded with blueberries...not just a blueberry here and there. I had a bite, it was amazing!!! We both opted to just get 2 pancakes instead of the stack of 3. Glad we did. We barely put a dent in them...we took our leftovers home. I think I'll have pancakes for my next 5 meals!! We also ordered a side of the Chicken Tequila Sausage. It was good. Nice flavor and spice to it. The syrup they had on the table was the good stuff. REAL MAPLE SYRUP, not high fructose corn syrup. Our waitress, Carolina was awesome!! She was friendly and was super quick with our food. She checked on us often and brought us refills of that amazing coffee. She always had a smile on her face and was amazing! Thank you for being so awesome, Carolina!! Sadly, our time at The Griddle Cafe had to come to an end. We took our bag of leftovers (YAH!) and waddled our way out the door with full bellies and big smiles on our faces!! I can't wait to come back and try different things. They offered a fantastic variety of brunch classics and unique dishes. I opted for "Eyes Wide Open", semi-sweet chocolate chips folded into three stacks of fluffy pancakes and topped with whipped butter + powdered. Trust me the portion was super huge but in a good way. The other menu I got was "Hoagie Omelette" filled with Italian sausage and Mozzarella cheese, topped with grilled onion and bel pepper, served with potatoes and garlic French roll. The presentation was beautiful, and the taste did not disappoint. The eggs were perfectly cooked and so fluffy, and the potatoes were well seasoned. Our waitress, Arlinda, was prompt and friendly + attentive to all our needs. The French-pressed coffee was rich and aromatic, a perfect complement to the meal. Overall, I love this place and look forward to my next visit. read more
Whew! The food here was fresh, delicious and filling. I went to the previous location about 3 years ago on the hill so this location is smaller but going back to how they originally started. The inside is an old school diner style. Family of 4 had teachers pet, strawberries n cream waffles, hear me road and eggs and chicken sausage. Although we had stacks either 2 or 3 each stack was steaming warm when you got to it. These pancakes were so good that you really don't need syrup. Our waitress was so sweet and patience with us. If you are ever in the LA area stop here you won't be disappointed. Next time I'm check out the french toast as they were just as huge. read more

The Griddle cafe has a lot of menu options and HUGE pancake portions. The Oreo pancakes were really tasty. Eggs were fluffy and pork sausage was good and savory. I'll definitely come back to try different pancakes. Servers are friendly and service is quick. Tequila sunrise was tasty but not strong enough even though I asked for it to be stiff. Parking is easy in the rite aid parking lot. read more

Went here this past Saturday for our Annual December Friends Brunch and we were all very happy and stuffed =P Yes, the line and wait is long but it was worth the wait. We arrived around 1130am and was seated around 1230pm. The service was perfect and our waitress, Hailey was super duper amazing and on top of it! You have to scan their QR-Code to review the menu but your waitress will write your order down. Two of us decided to go with bottomless mimosa's, another one went with a bloody mary and french pressed coffee with baileys. As for the food part, OMG, we all got some delicious dishes. I went with the Sunset people, some like it hot, Cabellero, grilled chicken and avo melt, another melt, black magic pancakes and eyes wide open. Sunset people was perfect! The eggs were perfectly scrambled and not over cooked, the cheese on top had a good cheese pull, the maple sausage was a good touch, not too sweet and the toast gave it that extra crunch that it needed. Everyone enjoyed their plates and I do have to mention that their fat fries are AHHHHMAZING!!! As for the pancakes, I wish we just order the Black Magic because their HUGE for one but second was they were delish!! Eyes wide open didn't really taste like coffee and was a bit dry. Oh, lets talk about the mimosa's. They kept them coming but the champagne over OJ take kept going away with each carafe but I did catch a buzz. The gentleman that handles the front was super sweet too and checked in on us a couple times and he made sure to refill our carafe when he seen it was empty. I will definitely be returning soon and I'll make sure to wear my stretchy pants because I was stuffed!! read more
The food here is a feast. Whether you're getting pancakes or French toast. The service is cool in a good way and very kind too. The ambiance is one in which celebrities and the non celebs frolick. Today I had the Mom's French Toast. It was huge and delicious. I couldn't finish all of it. The coffee here is great. They give it to you in a French press. The only thing I would hold against them and it's a funny one, isn't at all bad,but rather the portions are too big for a single person. Come here with friends, people watch, and share everything! Went here after a night out & it did not disappoint! The pancakes are soooo massive. Honestly, you can probably share one order of pancakes between 4 people and 2 savory dishes... I only say this because we ended up wasting half of our food! I'm also a little confused because the pictures show this really pretty garden/outdoor space but I didn't see that! It's more of a homey cafe type of place? read more

If you haven't eaten here...You must not be from la...This tiny spot packs a big punch! And by big I mean the PANCAKES! Ok so be prepared, if you eat here and order pancakes, don't expect to finish them in one sitting. Yes, even if you're sharing. They are HUGE, BIGLY. Be warned, on weekends, there's usually a helluva wait. I'm talking over an hour even if your party is small. Pack a snack perhaps? Lol. But it's with the wait I promise. I've had the golden ticket, a rich buttermilk pancake stuffed with bananas and nuts and topped with a streusel caramel and cream. They also have a holiday pancake that holds a huge dollop of pie filling. I'm looking forward to ordering their Oreo pancake next time. But don't sleep on the savory dishes either. Chilaquiles, huge omelettes, and loaded potatoes. I guarantee you won't walk out of this place, you'll roll. Fast service that's great -check Delicious food and generous portion for price point- check Ambiance: 80's hits cool, hollywood vibe, old diner vibes- check Came for my birthday, and the food is great, one of the better breakfast places around. The service- I was shocked at how fast they clear, this is a sign of attentiveness. They would refill my water without me seeing. We left and I forgot my box then we went back after maybe 1.5 minutes and it was gone. I'm not mad, they're so fast! I appreciate the service they provide. They turn tables fast because of this which means the wait time is short. They've been around I think they said since 2020. My friend says- griddle cafe is what dennys aspires to be. The coffee is served in a french press at your table! If you're a local check this place for breakfast. read more
Went this past Sunday with a friend. Waited about 30-40 minutes and got seated. Sit was super crowded inside and every time someone was walking by they would bump into my chair and it was kind of annoying. Next biggest thing was the smell of weed. It is kinda disgusting to smell it while having breakfast or brunch both inside and outside. Tables are way too close that is not even safe while we are still dealing with covid. Our server was ok, looking a bit messy but whatever. Got bottomless mimosas with orange and pineapple. Got the sunset people, it was ok, nothing special. Pancakes were ok as well. The Griddle has been a very popular spot for breakfast food. The pancakes are a must here because it was honestly the highlight of the meal considering the size and taste. Every single table in the restaurant had one of their pancakes. They have a variety of options to choose from and they all sounded so yummy. The omelette was okay but I have had better. The griddle potatoes were really dry and bland (I wouldn't suggest getting it). The pancake was bigger than a hand. If you are eating the pancake by yourself definitely get a one stack. The service was great but it was busy so we didn't get attended to often. The waiter was scrambling and running around. The wait was about an hour but they told us 20-25 minutes. It's really hectic because it is so busy and tiny space. Definitely come here for their pancakes!! read more
This restaurant is loud and full of customers. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. This eggs Benedict was the best I've had. The ham was amazing it has so much flavor. The hollandaise went well with the eggs and the ham. The ham was as big as the plate. Looking at the pancakes others had ordered I'll be back to try them too. The pancakes were as large as the plates. So bring your appetite and expect to take something home with you. read more
Prepare to wait for a table if you drop in at peak brunch time on a Saturday. We knew exactly what we were in for walking over at the time we did, but I didn't know it was that bananas. My friend checked in as soon as we got there. There was a good amount of people out front waiting for a table. About 30 mins we noticed parties of 2 being seated in a table for 4. I included a photo here for visual evidence. I'm puzzled as to why they did that when the crowd outside kept growing by the minute. It honestly felt like a full hour went by by the time we got seated. The food was enjoyable. Oddly though, we both only ended up eating about 1/5 of our orders. A little note - if you're going to have a private conversation with a coworker may I suggest a more well private corner. I sure did hear one guy complain to another guy about another coworker. read more

No gluten free pancakes or French toast, but plenty of other breakfast and lunch options and can do some substitutions can be made too
Are you accepting walk ins on Sunday June 18?
The Griddle is walk in only. This Sunday is fathers day so I'd recommend getting there earlier then later. Hope this helps. :)
How do they handle groups of about 6?
Shouldn't be a problem. Expect a wait if going at peak times. Call ahead if possible. It's honestly worth the wait.

Yes, it's back at its Sunset location.

Im not sure if they serve bottomless mimosas. When I ordered mimosas, they have always served a generous proportion. Such as a extra glass.

Make a reservation on RESY! They don't advertise it. I didn't know going until I got there. Apparently people get bumped to the top
Does this restaurant require proof of vaccination to dine in?
Dining is only available on outdoor patio with incredible city views. Masks required, but no vaccination proof.
