I just finished eating lunch at Halal Guys for the first time earlier today, 4/30. We stopped by at around 1:15 PM for lunch. Surprisingly I've heard so much about Halal Guys, but have never tried the food. I ordered the Regular Platter with Beef Gyro $15.95 price as of April 2026 (not including tax). This platter is served with protein of your choice, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes along with your choice of toppings and their famous white and hot sauce. Note, there is also an additional charge of $1 for hummus. The toppings I got were jalapenos, and I ended up just getting the white sauce. It also comes with a few slices of pita, which were a little dry. I asked for additional white sauce on the side, but unfortunately, I was charged an additional $0.60 (so just be mindful that sauce on the side is not free lol). The meal was decent, pretty tasty, not too salty, but not my favorite. I should have asked for even more white sauce on my actual platter, since the sauce and side sauce were actually not enough for me haha. Parking: Located in a busy lot. We were able to get a parking spot close to the shop. Halal guys, this will be the closest Halal guys to Orange County. Also I frequented this place a lot when I was a student at CSULB, even taking the city bus to arrive here. I also came here when I was an EMT in this city with my partner in the ambulance. What times. This concept of Halal guys were so interesting to study from watching youtube of the carts in New York, I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised by efficiency of establishment as the ordering is like Chipotle, except it's very streamlined. The service is efficient when they ask you things. The ambiance of this store is tiny. I always go for the mixed proteins of Gyro and Chicken with onions. Mixing it together with the white sauce and a touch of red sauce and BBQ, it becomes umami in my palate. The orange rice, which initially looked off putting, became succulent when mixed with the tomatoes, onions, and salad with the meats. The portion size is huge -- enough to eat for 2 servings. Watch out for the red sauce though... it is extremely spicy. Just get a dash of this. However, recently, they switched their covers from clear to the thin aluminum covers, which I didn't like. Also, with taxes, it is about 17-18 dollars! It is expensive, hence I only come here maybe twice a year? Anyways, I recommend this place for the food and flavor. It's just pricey in my opinion, hence, 4 stars.

After shopping this afternoon, I ordered a chicken platter (no tomatoes, no onions) and felt excited to my meal. While it looked good, the chicken and rice were disappointingly bland. Bland rice is not terrible, but the protein should have been flavorful. Even with the hot sauce, the chicken didn't cut it. Service was great - each cashier was genuinely warm and helpful. A few customers were seated and enjoying their food, I just wasn't one them.

Always love the chicken and beef platters here flavorful, filling, and never disappoint. Gave it 4 stars only because the hot sauce isn't as bold as before and I miss the unlimited garlic sauce, but it's still a solid favorite.

Another Long Beach letdown. My food showed up ice cold, wrapped in tinfoil, and the meat was chopped so poorly it honestly looked like dog food. I had high hopes for this place, but this was beyond disappointing. Usually when you think of a gyro, you think of that big spinning rotisserie where they slice the meat fresh right off. That's how I've had it for years. I've never had someone chop it up like they're feeding a five-year-old. Big mama is hungry, not looking for baby food. And the pita bread? Definitely giving grocery store. Nothing about it felt authentic or fresh, and it literally broke in half the moment I took a bite. I called and spoke with the manager, JJ, and instead of trying to make it right, he told me I had to go through DoorDash for a refund. That completely missed the point. I wasn't looking for money, I was looking for a fresh sandwich. A real response would've been: "Hey, come back tomorrow, we'll make you a brand new sandwich." That's basic customer service. Instead, I'm left with inedible food at 10 at night

We just popped in here for some quick takeout, it did not take long and was very easy. Hard not to like their food as everything is delicious and quite savory. I enjoyed my small chicken platter, it was almost more than I could eat, the large would easily satisfy two people. Kind of a small place with pretty basic ambience, but lends itself to take out very nicely. Bottom line is the food was delicious!

Located across from the Planet Fitness, it's a good place for after a workout. My buddy invited me over to gym with him so we hit this place for some good food afterwards. The sandwich wrap is good. Even the fries. Not the cheapest. But still decent enough.

Came here after a workout with a friend. I've never had The Hala Guys before. So, first timer here. Estuardo was great from the start. He greeted us with a smile. We told him it was our first time here. He explained the menu to us patiently. Estuardo helped me with my platter. Another gentlemen helped my friend out with hers. Both guys were awesome and helpful. Both warned us about how spicy they're sauce was. Just to confirm, it is spicy so please be careful. I ordered the Regular Platter with half chicken and half beef. Added hummus for $1. I also added jalapenos and bell peppers for no additional cost. The platter comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and rice. I give the platter a 10/10. I highly recommend this place and I'll be back.

A way better alternative to chipotle or CAVA! Halal guys has it down with their guaranteed freshness of ingredients and the FLAVOR. Who cares about pound town go to FLAVOR TOWN with halal guys!! The white sauce & hot sauce is where it's at. I just shake the entire bowl up honestly. It's the best thing ever. I get a combo bowl of chicken and beef with onions lettuce tomato and jalapeños then just douse it in white sauce and hot sauce. I knocked a star because the service was subpar. The workers were defintely unwelcoming and I felt like a burden just for ordering food??? Like whaaaaaat. WEIRD. Anyways it costs nothing to smile or be kind. The place is a good size, you can sit inside to enjoy your meal!

Love the food here, it is filling and affordable. I find myself craving it! The sauce really makes it. Fries should be an alternative base option if you don't want rice, but I was able to substitute it for an additional charge at least. 100% recommend this as the fries were really good and crispy! I wish there were more vegetable options though as the salad is quite limited. The falafel was a little dry too, and the hummus was not great at all, it was so watery and tasted strange.

This place was recommended by a Facebook Foodie Page, so I thought I would give it a try as part of my Mediterranean food tour where I tried various dishes at dozen Mediterranean restaurants in a 6-month period. The gyro meat was chopped really small. Not sure why they do that. I like the gyro meat to be a large size, so you can chew it and hopefully enjoy the flavors. Overall, the flavor was okay. The staff was friendly. Parking was super easy. The price of the gyro was comparable to other similar locations.

They still have an hour left of closing. Had my food at 10 pm already. Whenever I came around that time they always had the chairs down so customers can eat. We had asked if we can eat and put the chairs back up ourselves and they still said no? I've never had this happen. Didn't even think coming before an hour closing was considered bad especially near a CSU. They even ran out of water cups apparently. He seemed like he just wanted us out. There was no outdoor seating either so I just went home to eat. Sucks to eat cold food and won't come to this location again. Food is bomb though when you eat it right away.

Just your typical fast food restaurant. I came here after going to Planet Fitness nearby around 9 pm. There was no line and I ordered the combo platter. Overall, it satisfied my unhealthy food craving. If you get it to-go, they give you white sauce on the side. Two packets if you get the regular and 1 packet with the small. I definitely prefer to have the sauce on the side just one packet is 300 calories (!!!!) in addition to the very high calorie entree. read more

Today was my first time trying Halal Guys. Kelly and Stuey were great. I ordered a plate (large) half rice half fries. Got onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, chicken, and tomatoes. Made to get the white sauce per other Yelp reviews (good choice). Kelly then told me to try it with bbq sauce bc it would set it off. Stuey and Kelly both warned me about the hot suace and it is!! The combination of white sauce and BBQ is perfection so glad I took their recommendation. I also got hummus which is delicious! With the warm pita bread . Too busy eating for a pic. I had just finished my workout at the gym nearby and I was dying of hunger so I decided to give this place a try, as soon I walked in I was greeted by such a nice and courteous staff. This is my first time trying Middle Eastern food. I've heard a lot of great reviews from the original Halal Guys in NYC, but I haven't been there. So my review is just based on my first time experience. I've been to both location --this one and the one in Cerritos---I recommend this one. Why this one? because the ground chicken isn't come in different sizes and salad is more fresh because of the constant traffic this place generates. I got the Combo (Chicken and Gryo) in a large platter. A large is usually enough to make you full..sometimes too full. I suggest the Combo, you get the mixture of both meats. They are cut and cooked into small ground meats. Large Halal Combo platter is very filling. I would eat half and save the other half for later. I recommend to ask for extra white sauce and BBQ sauce. BBQ sauce makes a difference in the taste. It gives a sweetness of BBQ into the rice and salad. The white sauce is what makes the dish kinda heavy. The salad and rice really lightens the taste of the white sauce. I like the white sauce, but after eating it, my body just wants to lounge around and not do anything. They way they present the dish is half side with white sauce/bbq sauce and the meats on top of the rice and the other side is the salad and tomatoes. What I like to do is to MIX EVERYTHING UP! It spreads all the flavor around with the heavy and the light. I would, also, put it on the bread. I got to say, the bread is fresh and good! So everything balances. But you can choose how you want to eat it. Adding the hummus? It's good, but it does just taste like store bought hummus you get. I would say give it a try and see if you like it. It's only $1 more when you purchase your food for 1 scoop of hummus. If you want more hummus, they sell it in a bigger cup for $4ish. I totally agree with all the others who have ever tried this places' HOT SAUCE!!! It's truly SPICY!!! I'm not into spicy that much. I just placed a little onto my dish and boy oh boy is it super spicy. A little goes a long way. I might add that my friend loves spicy and can take very spicy sauces, he had 1 1/2 pack in his dish. He was sweating like no other. I saw sweat all over his face like he just ran 10 miles. So CAUTION on the HOT SAUCE. I would recommend you to tell them to give you packets so you can control the amount of spiciness that goes into your food. Stopped by 30 minutes ago for lunch. It was my first time there, so I was asking for recommendations. The 3 guys working together didn't hesitate to help, and did it with a smile! Isidro offered me a little plate and I was able to sample the beef and chicken. Very nice gentleman! Izzy and Davin were so helpful and nice as well. They made my visit so pleasant. Our beef was a textbook medium rare and was so juicy and tender, as was the rest of the meat. The chicken was so moist and flavorful, as was all the shawarma. All meats were seasoned beautifully. If you're in downtown Long Beach on Pine avenue, I highly recommend going to Saffron for some excellent Mediterranean fare. Give them a try. You will be happy you did.

The kitchen already cooked it. What is the kitchen going to do with it? Throw it away?" He even suggested that we could buy chicken kabobs separately for $7 ea. At that point, I asked to speak with the manager or owner. The server walked away, then returned, took my sister's plate and brought out the correct chicken plate. Mistakes happen -- we understand that. What was disappointing was the lack of customer service and the arguing instead of simply handling the situation professionally. I have never experienced a server refusing to correct an order and debating with customers over a simple mistake.

The tom kha soup was decent, but the real MVP was the drunken noodles with beef. Those noodles were absolutely swimming in savory goodness and perfectly soft. I would've happily ordered a second plate and called it "dessert." Overall, I'd definitely come back--mostly because those drunken noodles are already living rent-free in my head.

I came across this place on TikTok because of their famous Thai tea popsicle, so naturally I had high hopes. First off, we got incredibly lucky with parking. I can definitely see how parking could be a nightmare since the lot is tiny, so consider finding a spot part of the dining experience. When we arrived, the inside was cute and seemed clean. We were seated outside, which also looked nice at first glance, but I noticed quite a few spider webs around the windows. My boyfriend even felt webs brushing against his arm while we were sitting there, which wasn't exactly the extra ambiance we were expecting. We ordered quite a bit: spicy Pad Thai, Bang Bang Shrimp, Pad See Ew, mango sticky rice, and of course the Thai tea with the popsicle. I'll give credit where it's due. The Bang Bang Shrimp was easily the best thing we ordered and was absolutely delicious. The Thai tea popsicle also lived up to the TikTok hype, although the actual Thai tea itself was on the sweeter side. If you love sugar, you'll probably enjoy it. My biggest complaint with the food was the spicy Pad Thai. The flavor was great, but it came with what felt like a whole chicken farm and a cameo appearance from the noodles. I ordered Pad Thai, not chicken with noodle garnish. The Pad See Ew was also noticeably salty. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place a low rating if most of the food was decent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. When it was time to pay, my aunt was figuring out how much everyone needed to Zelle her since the restaurant only allows a maximum of two cards for split payments. While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. My aunt politely asked him to give us a minute, and thankfully he walked away. Maybe when you see a family actively calculating a bill, that's your cue to...actually give them a minute. Keep in mind we also tipped 20% despite all this. Throughout the meal, he did stop by our table, but it rarely felt like he was checking in to make sure everything was okay. If anything I felt rushed. He also gave off that "customer service smile" that disappears the moment you stop looking. The cherry on top for me happened as we were leaving. We had been sitting on the outdoor patio talking for a bit after paying, which is pretty normal for my family. Before leaving, I went inside to ask where the restroom was. The guy and girl behind the bar looked at each other, laughed, and then asked if I was a paying customer. Keep in mind, I was literally holding a to-go bag with leftovers from the restaurant. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I'll happily support a restaurant that appreciates my business instead of making me feel like I have to prove I earned the right to use the restroom after paying for dinner.

The meat has some nice crust on the outside, very flavorful. We ended up taking some of the ribeye home, as we were already really full. It was plenty of food to share between two people. I definitely will come back to try other dishes, especially the other popular pasta dishes. This place has been really popular and I heard the line is still long even after a few months (or maybe it has been a year now?). Definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Italian food in town. Very hip, vibey place, and delicious food!

Needed to start with some fried cheese Kurds (so fresh, served with marinara & various ranch flavors) as well as Buffalo Wings spun with a GOOD authentic Buffalo sauce. Then, PIZZAS. Our server suggested pepperoni for kids, a sausage & ??? in a white sauce that was so well balanced by the flavors, both delicate & bold. Then, the specialty pizza of the day, prochetta and peaches with dabbles of ricotta! It's was almost decadent with the creamy sweetness and salt. On top of all this, a rotating 21 tap bar of beer selections from all around world along with a deep/wide selection of delicious wines. Tons of free parking. Service was outstanding. The decor is classy yet casual. There's a cute photobooth and play area for the kids. As for food, I was super excited to try their Al Pastor pizza, a Mexican-American take on a pineapple pizza. Unfortunately, by the time I sat for dinner, they were out of most of their menu, including the al pastor. I am NOT docking them for points for running out of things on opening weekend. It's so hectic I'm sure, and it's a lot to have to figure out. They were able to make the pizza with pork belly instead of al pastor though. It was pretty good, but honestly forgettable. I also think that their menu is pretty expensive for their portions and offerings. I know they were running low on items, but the toppings were definitely skimpy. I would like to come back to try a couple of more things from their menu, including their extensive variety of beers. PRO TIP: save room for dessert and get fresh churros from the very nice lady outside at Churros Juquilita

I had heard of it on instagram and through friends but never really payed much attention to the hype. I was on my way to Wing Stop next door and decided to give this place a try. As a first timer I had no idea how to order or what to order for that matter so I asked the girl who greeted me when I walked in. She told me her favorite item when she wasnt super hungry was the gyro beef sandwich and when shes starving she gets a chicken platter. I decided to go with the sandwich which consisted of salad (lettuce & tomatoes), and the meat (I chose the combo beef and chicken) and Aundrea recommended throwing some rice on it so I gave it a try (bomb.com). I told her to make it as she would make her own so she loaded it up with white sauce which was great and sprinkled some hot sauce on it. Or should I say fire sauce! And she also put some BBQ sauce on it which I was kind of hesitant about but I'm glad she did because it added the perfect tangy taste to it. She also offered me bell peppers, jalepenos, onions and olives but I wasnt interested. I did however get a side of hummus that came with a pita bread and a scoop of tabbouleh which was only a dollar! I sat on the outside patio because it was pretty packed inside and if you dont like eating at a place thats loud I would suggest taking this to go! I usually don't write reviews on yelp but Ive decided that Halal Guys @ the LB location deserved one. the customer service was EXCELLENT, An employee by the name Jaylene helped me and she was very polite, always smiling... even through the crazy lunch line. I ordered a regular combo platter w/ extra white sauce (drools), one line of hot sauce, a drizzle of BBQ sauce. I had no idea that they had onions, jalapeños, olives and bell peppers here!!!! From the last couple of times I've ordered from here , no employee offered me any of the sides. She even offered me a loyalty rewards card, which will come in handy the next time I eat there. The only thing that bothered me was that they did not have ice so I passed on a drink and bought one from chipotle. The hot sauce is very spicy but so good! One line was good enough for me! I'm visiting family down here in Long Beach and they suggested that we try out Halal guys. She said the gyro meat is to die for, so I had to try it out. Yesterday, When we arrived we were helped right away, there was an Asian girl who helped us. Her name is Jay or Jen, I totally forgot to ask to confirm but she was kind and was very straight forward when it came to the hot sauce. She said that it's extremely spicy and that she recommends one line or a packet to go. She even let us try it on a slice of pita along with the white sauce. The only reason as to why I can't give halal guys the full 5 stars is because the gyro meat was crispy and tasted almost burnt, I was so excited for it! Since my sister recommended it. But thank goodness the customer service was great! It made up for the "burnt" gyro. read more

I have been hearing about this place for a longest time from my friends living in Long Beach. I live in Northridge and what I can say is, it's worth the ride. I went on an impulse. I was already having a bad day from school and work and decided to take a drive. I went as a first timer and totally confused and overwhelmed. I walked in and the person behind the counter was Steffi. I thought her name was Stephanie, but it wasn't. She probably gets that a lot. She made the environment feel like home and was happy to help me as a first timer. Thank you Steffi . Whenever I am in Long Beach, I just want to eat here because of Steffi's charisma. I stared at the menu with probably the most blank face and then Aundrea asked if I had any question about the menu. I asked what the most popular item was and she said it was the regular combo platter so I got that. I wanted hummus but didnt want a whole side cause i knew I wouldnt finish it but she told me I could get a scoop on my plate for only a dollar. heck yeah! the plate had some slices of pita on it which went perfect dipped in my scoop of hummus. got the hot sauce on the side as she suggested which saved me later because after trying it my mouth was hurting. will be coming back! ps. their lines get pretty long so if youre in a hurry they offer eat 24 here on yelp! I just want to give a huge shoutout to the workers who were working on 4th of July! They had amazing customer service and the wait time was less than 5 minutes. I was greeted by two young women with braces as I walked in with my husband, the music was a bit loud. I ordered 2 large combo platters with sauces on the side. The lobby was almost full so I asked to take my food to go, at the register I was given a yelp card along with my purchased items and decided that workers deserved a yelp review. I could not give a full 5 star review because the lobby was a bit messy, but it's okay! It was very busy!! I will definitely be coming back to try out their falafels and wings!! read more

Today was my first time coming here and I have to give them credit, they are doing great. Lets start with whats most important, the food. YUM. In love with the chicken and the white sauce. Hot sauce is pretty hot so I wont be getting that anymore. Thankfully Aundrea suggested putting it on the side for my first time or i would have loaded it on! Now you want great customer service? Absolutely amazing experience at The Halal Guys! Johnny and Kelly were beyond helpful and incredibly patient. They took the time to let us try different options before ordering, which made the whole experience feel special and personalized. They truly created a million dollar experience for us. The food was beautifully presented and tasted just as incredible. The vibe of the place is warm and welcoming, and you can really feel the care from the staff. What something different tired of wings and burgers? Try "The Halal Guys". This place is a spot that you should not sleep on. The food is delicious. The Gyro beef is so tender and well seasoned. I don't know why they are not perfect five stars but Let me be real with you now. I heard about them because they are straight outta New York and over there they have lines wrapping around blocks, Yeah New York blocks. That's way different like bigger. Absolutely the best Halal guys I've ever been to. The food here is so good. I first had the Halal guys in New York at the food carts and when I saw that they had opened up a location in Costa Mesa and Long Beach I had to try. The Costa Mesa location is good as far as food and service, but the Long Beach location is well above. I live in San Francisco and while visiting Los Angeles I came here. We have halal cart in San Francisco which I am a regular of.This place is no where close to the halal cart of San Francisco. The rice is low quality and dry, the gyro is beef only, the chicken is average at best. White sauce was good. But the problem I had was that it was around 11 dollars for small portion and I had to pay extra for white sauce. I am glad we have halal cart in San Francisco which I appreciate even more. read more

This place is dope ! Great food, great environment, and great service! I didn't know what to choose the first time but one of the workers there, I believe her name is Ceejay, and she recommended me to get a combo plate, and she just made me feel welcome there! My favorite part about it too was the white sauce, but the red sauce is really hot, but good thing Ceejay stopped me from getting a lot, even if I love spicy foods, because that hot sauce is no joke! read more

I had a terrible experience at Halal Guys in Long Beach. I ordered two combo platters, but the food was stale, smelled bad, and seemed spoiled. It was completely inedible, which was a huge letdown since I lwas excited to eat here. When I called to ask for arefund, the manager, J.J., flat-out refused and then blocked my number. That kind of unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. I'd strongly suggest avoiding this location until they step up their game. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but this place was at most sub-par. The place reminded me of a Chipotle vibe which im usually okay with, but the food here didn't seem like it was cared for properly. I ordered my food and immediately sat down to eat and my first bite was luke warm AT BEST. I don't feel like that is safe food handling. Also, the flavors of the food are just.....eh. I don't know about other Halal Guys locations, BUT the location in L.B. on Ximeno is spot on! I love the food here. Staff is very friendly and welcoming and the service is great as well. Ordering is fast and easy, whether in person, online or by phone. Portions served on any of their plates are generous and very filling. I visited this spot for the first time and it was delicious. I had the combo plate, added peppers, humus and the works. It was fresh and filling. They serve large portions. The manger Sweeny introduced me to the menu, was helpful and friendly. The staff was having a good time at the peak of a busy lunch hour. I'll definitely be back. Long Beach you ROCK! I usually come here about every two weeks and have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Today Aundrea made me a delicious platter which I ate too fast to take a picture lol. yes its that good! and last time I came Meia made my sandwich with a scoop of tabbouleh. so yummy! This place legit tried to say, "we're out of regular platters" so when I asked if you can make a regular platter out of two small platters -- even their manager said, "no we can fit it all in a small platter". When I challenged him asking why/how, all he did was get twitchy and argumentative. This is some grade AAA bull. Food be cold, price be high, you get took, the halal guys. read more
