Side of chili ( only a half a cup) WTH?!
    Demetrius G.

I've been coming to this location since 1990, and I've noticed in the last couple of years the quality has gone down. Today I only ordered a small French fries and a side of chili. The fries were not that good, they'd been sitting awhile, I ate about half of them and threw them away. The side of chili was a joke, I paid full price for a side of chili only to get a half a cup. Come on! Hope this was an isolated incident. Do better next time, don't lose a longtime customer!

I visited the other location in Rancho Cucamonga in the past , I find the Upland spot is my preferred location . The pastrami sandwich were soft ( I should have asked for a side of lettuce) that would balance out the savory/ salty flavor of the pastrami.

It was very poor. Used to have the best pastrami dip but not anymore. The went a couple of weeks ago and it was horrible. Seems I left a review and not it had disappeared somehow so I have to repost. This time I have pictures that speak for themselves. If you notice one looks worse than the other. You can see how they soaked the whole bun in the juice and scrunched it all up tried to tightly wrap it but the meat wasn't in the bun. That is exactly how it got it. The meat was hard and not compacted the buns desegrated it was a tangled mess. The better looking one was the improved one when I took it back. Same thing. I saw the man completely dip the bun in the au jus and roll it. Not sue they used to dip the whole bun it, but something is wrong. The meat wasn't tender maybe under cook. Maybe the meat is supposed to be juicer softer and wet and the bun you just leave alone and not dip it or just dip the surface not the whole bun. Meat was hard bun was over soaked. Connels in Upland and Peppi's in Fontana is better.

Finally a long time coming. I've heard the tales of their pastrami, I've seen the chili cheese fries loaded so full it almost breaks the box. I've seen the hats and smiling faces of guests walking out stuffed and satisfied. The day finally came for my turn. So excited to have a first visit! Yes, what took so long? Other things came between us and it was like a long lost relative having a reunion. It was everything, everything I wished it would be and I... I could fly higher than the eagles. Staff were great, wonderfully friendly. Visiting with good friends. Luvd this pastrami so juicy and not overly salty. Sandwiched inside perfectly baked bread. Slather some mustard on it to kick it up. Gravy fries were my fave. Enjoyed the chili cheese but kept going back to the gravy. Of course some orange bang! Well maintained, clean and organized. Staff were awesome, efficient and friendly. Large parking lot for rvs to maneuver through, Inside or patio seating areas. Thanks brutha for my first pastrami!

Last night, while I was out with some buddies in Upland we decided to stop by The Hat for a late dinner! The place wasn't too packed when we arrived and I ordered the Chili Fries with Pastrami on top. The food took about 10 mins to prepare and I have to say I was not dissapointed by the size and the taste. The dish was massive and definitely meant for more than 1 person. Would recommend this spot for a late-night meal if you are in the area.

Amazingly good ! But it can be overwhelming. I would suggest on sharing so you can try more dishes

Let's start by saying how great The Hat is. Everything is delicious. The staff is wonderful. One thing that I do not like to see is waste. We were given 30 Buttermilk Ranch Dreesings for 2 people. Not to mention the 25 plus napkins. We need to cut back on the condiments and pass the savings along to customers and staff.

I think there is only the Avocado sandwich. The menu is as posted... check that out too see what is possible. Lastly ask when you go in! Good luck.

Both the restaurant and this combo are EXQUISITELY named! Claremont's buzziest Friday night go-to spot most assuredly strikes the bullseye for anyone craving well made, bespoke men's food and lawd almighty, did this combo exemplify the "smash" in its name!!! I'd discovered Eureka a wk ago as part of my wee gig work- This retired Fortune 100 exec now is perfectly content to ferry a half dozen meals/most nights. Over the course of delivering a trio of orders from the Claremont Eureka, I was transfixed both by the vibrant tempo of the restaurant paired with the friendly, welcoming demeanor of their staff. Not always the easiest choice when your lobby is SRO (Standing Rm Only) and the noise palpitates like a wave! I brought my combo home, gently reheated it and lemme tellya: There were zero "tossaways" here. Most takeout orders, I'm chucking some aspect of it- Perhaps maudlin pickles or the weepy tomato that damn near deluged my bottom bun into a veritable sponge or the month old ranch... Not here!!! My pickles (!!!) were crisp, super garlickly and looked like they'd been freshly pickled. Zero annoying tomato to rain on my bun! The dijonnaise served as an accompaniment to my onion rings was a garlickly super hero, transporting goid onion rings to GREAT! The double smash was served on a fat, glistening brioche bun that beckoned me damn near as well as my wife's wondrous backside still does, thirty yrs later! You can tell the care and thoughtfulness that the Eureka executive chef has brought to forming their menu!! My long-winded but dammit-its-descriptive way of saying- "This was an authentic 5-star meal and I can't wait to return!"

Chicken sandwich with poblano pepper.. perfect flavor and spice; also saucy which I love. I really do hate a dry ass sandwich. Do yourself a favor and add the avocado too. 2. Chili cheese fries were hot, cheesy, and perfect ratio of chili, for me at least. Portions was worth the price in my eyes for the quality you can definitely taste. 3. We came on a weekend and it was super busy (as it should be honestly with how amazing the food and service are). We got the blackened salmon with penne pasta and baby potatoes, and the flat iron steak with bow tie pasta and herb brown rice. The steak was cooked perfectly medium. The bow tie pasta is served cold and has a vinegary flavor to it, definitely a distinct taste, but I personally loved it because I enjoy sour/vinegary flavors. I can see why it might not be everyone's favorite though, but I personally really enjoyed it. The salmon was also super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Same with the penne pasta and potatoes. Honestly everything was just made really well and good. For the sauce, we got their popular jalapeno garlic sauce and it paired well with absolutely everything. Needless to say, this place was really good from head to toe. I also got to meet the owner and he was super friendly too. I seriously wish they would open one closer to my area. There's only two entry points to the restaurant, and the roads could be fixed. The parking is located in the back of the restaurant. I had come in with colleagues to get breakfast here. All four of us had decided to order their Good Morning Burrito which came with your choice of a side, pico de gallo, and sour cream. My choice of side was their hash browns. I had also ordered a caramel latte to go with my meal. When the food came out, I was fairly excited to eat. Yet, within my first bite of the hash browns, I was immediately disappointed. It tasted like crunchy nothing. There wasn't any seasoning on their hash browns, so I had to douse it in ketchup, salt, and pepper. I then took a bite out of my burrito, and this time I was surprised; the burrito was extremely bland. No seasoning or flavor. Not even a pinch of salt. When I used the green sauce and sour cream with it, it didn't make my burrito any better. My meal was lackluster and disappointing. The latte also wasn't the best; I couldn't taste the coffee in it. I don't think I'd come back to this restaurant. The servers were sweet, but inconsistent with their billing and weren't consistent with how they talked to us and gotten our orders. Their food wasn't good and it's a bit difficult to park here. The interior was also lacking, but I can assume this place is just a regular, long term, local restaurant that has become a part of the neighborhood's routine.
