Love the vibe here, service and food was hit or miss! We sat at the bar, it was pretty crowded! Knew what we wanted so we put in our order basically as soon as we sat down. Glad we did because it took 45 minutes to get out food, other tables that came in after us were served before us which was annoying. But the Bavarian pretzel was pretty darn delicious I must say! Worth the wait. Can't say the same for my black bean burger, it sucked. But that's just because they use morning star patties which I can't stand, so I wish they specified what brand of patty they use. Side salad was not too bad. Fries were yummy! My husbands burger was not too bad either he said. I got an Irish cider and it was great. I was hoping to try the pear cider too but our bartender never checked on us again so I ended up not getting one. Came here when the small business expo was going on for lunch. They didn't have anything at all that was on the menu and the server had no idea. I was a server and not once was I not prepared for work. Things happen... we all have bad days but change your attitude and let's go to the back and get better but ask questions. Write it down & get to it. It kept happening about more than once... My friend ordered extra ranch which was also missed like WHAT? We also got a dirty glass when a friend ordered her cider. Which later was suppose to be comped but I had to remind her after they ran the card. It's just the little things.. Easily one of my favorite bars in Arizona. Who doesn't like a good pub? It's funny because I always talk about how I wish the pub in my hometown served food and was just a little bit bigger. If that actually happened, you would get The Kettle Black. They have awesome service, food and a nice variety of drinks! Basically everything you need. Me and my friends went here before we had to come back home from out Vacation and I still remember the taste of the fries..Ugh!!! Both the Philly Cheese Fries and Buffalo Chicken Fries were amazing. I love how all the food comes out looking fancy but yet they are still at affordable prices. The Kettle Wings were amazing. The Crab Cakes were amazing. Heck. Everything was amazing. First, a big thank-you to the feedback from local Yelpers for recommending Kettle Black to me. I came here specifically because they have one of the better whiskey selections downtown, but among our group of 4, we all enjoyed all the drink, food, and especially the atmosphere. Our drinks were a variety of a beer flight, cocktails, bourbon and scotch. For the bourbon and scotch, the pours are generous and the prices are very reasonable. One ding for mixing up the glasses of bourbon and scotch when delivered to the table. My 1st Street Burger was ordered medium and came out medium well but was otherwise delicious, another of those "you must unhinge your jaw to eat it" burgers. The onion ring, which I removed before eating, was also quite good, with a distinct flavor to the batter, making me regret not having ordered more. Another person at the table said his Guinness Braised Short Ribs were among the best he's ever had. The food came out very quickly too. Sierra, our waiter, was great too. She hustled to make sure that she was not the delay for us. She was pleasant, well spoken and professional. Her colleague, Athena, was likewise wonderful. I am not sure who hired these two people but they did a great job! Okay, okay, so the dining room looks a little too dark and might be a little sticky (yes, I said sticky - maybe a good cleaning is in order). This place caught our eye because of all the great reviews on Yelp, and it definitely deserves the high ratings! I got the crab cakes, and my boyfriend got the pretzel and the bangers and mash (sausage and mashed potatoes). I was impressed by the crab cakes! They were nice and crunchy on the outside and rich/flavorful on the inside. It comes with a wasabi aioli sauce. I was worried that it would be spicy, but our waitress was nice enough to have the sauce put on the side. The sauce ended up being not too spicy, and added a nice kick to the crab cakes.
