So happy about this new spot in this area. Haltom City really need a boost on getting new dine in places to boost foot traffic. Today's visit, we had the Kickin' Combo Deal #1 for $52.99. You get t pick 3 items from clams, shrimp, crawfish, (green and black) mussels. All weighing 1lb each. The combo also comes with 2 corns, 2 potatoes, and 4 (slices) of sausage. It came out pipping hot and fresh and full of flavors. Be careful on the spice, we got the medium and it was already fire. If you are not used to spicy food, you must get the mild version.

One of the few stores that have started opening up around Hmart Haltom City. Kickin' Crab is one of the go to Vietnamese Cajun version of crawfish boil. The flavors were great and the generous sauce and garlic they put in that sauce is just truly satisfying. We had their combo 1 which where you pick three 1 lb each of shrimp, crawfish, clams, or green/black mussels. The bag also came with corn, potatoes, and sausage. A pretty good deal for 2 people for $52.99. But If you came for just crawfish they have it for $9.99/lb during this visit. Service was prompt. We were seated right away upon walking in and this was 30 minutes from opening. Definitely a good addition to this area.

Welcome, KC! First spot to open up in the new HMart shopping center in Haltom City. We came in for a late lunch and there were plenty of seating. It's nice and spacious inside with lots of natural lighting from the windows. I've never been to Kickin' Crab before so the menu is new to me. I like that they have plenty of options besides seafood boil, but that was definitely my reason for coming. I went with the 1/2 lb snow crab leg and 1/2 shrimp and added 1 lb of crawfish, kc style medium heat. Just enough to get my nose running but my mouth was not on fire. Loved the flavors and the quality of the seafood. My friend got the shrimp tacos and enjoyed it. Service was excellent. I like when everyone comes by to check on you even if they're not your original server. No alcohol license yet, still in progress. Can't wait to come back to try more of the menu!

They would not seat us 10 minutes before closing and the restaurant was still pretty busy.

The crawfish had that perfect boil flavor with just the right amount of spice. Gumbo was rich, hearty, and full of flavor. Had to get me a link of smoked boudin and it stood out. It had a nice spicy kick and was packed with the best smokey flavor in every bite. Got me a meat pie and it was exactly what you hope for. Nice and crispy on the outside, savory and satisfying inside. It's a super casual spot with a great indoor area and a solid patio, perfect for just hanging out and enjoying good food. Honestly, it's hard to find Cajun food like this outside of Louisiana, but they did it right. Made me feel right at home!

Nice little bite. Didn't need to add any Tobasco sauce. They know what they are doing. Read a review complaining about the bread on the poboys, but they use Gambino's which is what I'm used to from growing up in Louisiana. Fried shrimp, on the poboy on the other hand were a tad blander than I would have expected. It needs cocktail sauce which I had to use from a table mate since mine didn't come with any or dialed to ask for it. The cocktail sauce added the missing taste. Hush puppies were yummy too. Big serving as a side. Enough to share for sure. The boiled shrimp looked and smelled amazing but I didn't get a chance to sample. Came with a boiled potato, corn on cob and sausage piece. Pretty good deal it seemed. Prices were quite reasonable. Service was spot on and helpful and they checked on us constantly. A great find in a hidden location. Finding authentic Cajun can be difficult in north Texas. But think I've found one finally.

I took a few pictures, and took it all in on our way in. Once inside, there is Western/Mexican art along the walls and comfortable cushioned round-back chairs--very comfy. Slow to be greeted but seated right away. Our server, Jared, did a wonderful job in all areas. I had the 10 oz ribeye, salad, and potato wedges. The wife had chicken tenders, salad, and fries. We got it all started with fried baby portobello mushrooms. My steak, cooked medium rare, was perfect size. Our salad was fresh and crispy (a real surprise). The house fries and wedges were really good. The mushrooms were a great start to our meal. They also have Lunch and Dinner Menu Specials that run $15 and under, with several decent options to choose from. We're very pleased with the value, pricing, and menu options at Sweetie Pies.

Even getting there at 545 on a Saturday night, we had a 35 minute wait. The decor inside is super cool. Since they're owned by Babes, you can see a strong resemblance. Our server was outstanding! Quite honestly he was the highlight of our evening. I believe PJ was his name. So helpful, friendly and funny. Unfortunately, that's where the greatness ended. We both ordered the 10 oz ribeye. I had the squash and my wife had a baked potato. Both of our sides were just barely luke warm. Disappointing. The steak tasted good but also "barely" lukewarm warm. Even when it tastes good the temperature of a good steak is paramount to your experience. Not quite sure if we are willing to try again.
