The baristas were extremely friendly and fast- great service. I ordered an iced latte with light mint syrup (5.75)- I guess the syrup was too light or the coffee was too strong, I couldn't taste any mint :/ they won't charge extra for 2% milk which is nice. A group of us came here after run club and I left feeling really disheartened. One of our teammates bought a drink and food for an unhoused man and the police were called to escort him out of the shop even though he was not disruptive and he was not bothering anyone. He was simply waiting for the order that had already been paid for. Instead of being treated like a customer, the shop refused to give him his drink had two officers make him leave. It was painful to watch someone be treated as if they did not belong, I'm sure all this man wanted was to enjoy a meal & drink and be treated with the same respect anyone else would get. Being able to sit down and have a cup of coffee should be a basic experience of dignity. Everyone deserves that. Seeing someone denied that AND being criminalized for existing in the space was dehumanizing and unacceptable. I used to come here often after runs, but after witnessing this, I will not support this business anymore. A community coffee shop should be a place that welcomes people, not one that decides who is and is not worthy of being treated like a person. read more

The Girls Run the OC club came here for a relaxing coffee social but instead had to watch as police were called over a transient person. This individual wasn't doing anything wrong, they were simply waiting for food & a drink that one of our members offered to get for him. Instead of making the drink & handing it out they withheld it & kicked him out. We had to ask the baristas to please make it because our member had paid & they reluctantly did so. It really rubbed our entire group the wrong way! There was no reason to with hold the drink & there was no reason to call the police. That was so unnecessary & so uncomfortable for all of us. Do better. Considering we just spent a good amount of $ in this establishment know that you will no longer be receiving any of our business. That was uncalled for. I'm really disappointed in this coffee shop. I came with a run club this Saturday morning for an after run social activity. Our group was large but I placed my order quite early to beat the crowd. I ordered a gentleman there an iced americano and fruit cup with my order. He waited patiently near the order pick up area as did many others including myself. Barista proceeded to ask him if he had an order and I repeated it and said yes it's under my name, "An iced Américano". Barista asked him again if he had an order and I said yes, an iced Americano. A few minutes later cops arrive asking the gentleman he was asked to leave, but I stepped in and said he has an order with me and ICED AMERICANO. They asked him to wait outside, unnecessary in my opinion as he was not disturbing anyone and we were all just paying customers waiting. The cops said they'd wait for the order and give it to him. Well... the order was still not ready after receiving my drink (not labeled with my name) I asked another barista that I'm waiting for an iced americano. He made it that instantly, (thank you to him) and I was too late to give the gentleman his drink because he was upset and left the premises. Cops shouldn't have been called in this situation it was horrible to witness and will never come to this establishment. Do better! read more

I've been to the Lost Bean over in Irvine off Barranca/Lake, as well as the Lost Bean in Newport Beach off of Dove St - so I figured this spot might be great too. The drinks are decent, the baristas are friendly - there is a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating areas - including seating over at the "Lost Vine" - which is a wine counterpart to the Lost Bean - where you can sit over at until 5pm, when that part of the venue is reserved to Lost Vine guests. Plus: The quiche and frittata selections look yummy. Wifi is super fast and free - even with a packed house. Two unisex restrooms which are cleaned often, and kept tidy. Downsides? The parking spaces here are super tight and tiny. After circling the lot a few times, I realized that it's not the drivers that are parking bad - the spaces are legitimately small. Even worse - most, if not all spaces have a "1-hour time limit before 5pm". I didn't witness any tow trucks while I was here for a few hours, but the parking situation is something to keep in mind if you plan to stop by here to do some work. read more

Let me start by saying I actually like this place a lot. Good vibes, food is great, coffee is fresh and the service is always friendly. Every time we go with a group of friends, there's always space and tables to sit at so that's always nice. But there might be an issue with their order system or their communication system somewhere.. It's happened to us twice, my wife and I. We show up with a group of friends, everyone gets their food and drinks and I'm always the last one. And when I say last, I mean like everyone in line behind me has gotten their food and coffee as well. It's the most bizarre thing. Its happened twice. It feels like my order falls into a black hole. And I don't order anything fancy. It's usually a simple iced coffee and either a menu sandwich or quiche. I've seen it with my own eyes how people in front of me or behind order the exact same "iced coffee" and they get it handed to them over the counter while they're paying. Today, I had to wait about 15 minutes for an iced coffee. Nothing special, no sugar, no creamer, nothing. 15 minutes. My whole group of friends kept asking where I was or joked about what fancy drink did I order or what took so long. By the time I finally get my drink and I reach their table, they're done with their food and coffee. It's so embarrassing and its happened twice. I'm curious at this point if it's intentional or do I do something wrong? I've worked in customer service so always extra nice to the people in the food industry. Its so strange.. The baristas are nice about it and apologize but no incentive? No coupon code, nothing? My friends joked how I should've shouted "is this on the house?" Lol I'm light hearted but I don't think I'll be coming back. If I do, I might get my coffee and sandwich elsewhere and just meet them there. I hate being that guy but I also feel incredibly uncomfortable being the absolute last person to get their coffee and food when everyone else is done eating. "These people hate you" my friend joked. Came here with a run club for a coffee break. We all placed an order which no doubt yielded a high profit for a random Saturday for this little shop. While in line one of our members offered to buy an unhoused individual a drink. He didn't ask for anything else but was offered food which he chose a fruit cup. He was very quiet and to himself. He wasn't causing a scene or made anyone uncomfortable (other than the person who called the cops). I get when cops are called they must show up. One officer escorted him out while the other "waited" for his drink. That drink never came as we all started getting our drinks the woman who placed had to ask several times for the drink she paid for. I'm not sure what the problem was? She was the first to order before any of us so it shouldn't have taken so long even given our group size. Withholding a drink and repeatedly asking a person if they ordered food was unnecessary. You didn't ask any of us if we ordered anything as we too were standing around waiting. I'm not sure why a person who is in a different situation than you would be uncomfortable or so entitled that you'd need to call law enforcement to be removed. Your attitude is what needs to be removed. We live in a diverse world where anything could happen to any of us. If we constantly choose to live in a bubble and refuse to show grace or kindness you are contributing to a bigger problem. I'm raising my children to be different that likely are just a few years younger than every staff working behind the desk. Please please please do better! We cannot grow and progress if you refuse to be kind to all humans regardless of their current situation. I came here for breakfast, and loved their burrata toast! It was served on sourdough bread with oven roasted tomatoes and basil. I usually order avocado toasts, but I am glad I tried something new! Food: Got the 2 eggs breakfast. My eggs were undercooked, and my potatoes were cold and soggy (I had requested they be well done and they couldn't be further from that). Coffee: I ordered a mint latte (with their house made mint syrup), and my wife got a hazelnut macchiato. My latte did not taste like mint, at all. Like, not even in the slightest. They also didn't make my wife's macchiato with hazelnut, which leads me to my last point... Service: The service here is so hit or miss. You can have a friendly experience at the register and confirm that your order is properly listed, but then when you get your drinks they'll be completely wrong, and the staff will treat you like it's YOUR fault. I feel like I'm being gaslit by the staff here, and it makes for such an unpleasant experience. It pains me to say this because I see so many positive reviews, but I can't recommend the food here, and can't really recommend anything outside of a standard cup of coffee until they can fix all of the above. read more

Second, their monkey mocha was actually really good (it's a mocha with dark chocolate and banana); I finished the whole thing and am actually interested in returning to try their zebra mocha next. I appreciated that it was not overpriced. Same for the avocado toast, the portions were huge and the food was simply delicious. I noticed that they have a couple of Gluten free baked goods as well! For those of you not in the know North Tustin is some of the most prime real estate in Orange County. This location is in a very busy shopping center with ample parking in the morning but not great at night since it's next to the Tustin brewing Company, Bronx sandwiches, and Christakis restaurant, all of them extremely popular. What I like about this place is they offer 20 ounce drip coffee. Like I've said in past reviews I don't want an 8 ounce hipster small cup of coffee, this is America for God sakes! We don't want just a combo we want to supersize it! You all know what I'm saying. Their drip coffee is fire. Their espresso drinks even better and believe it or not their food is excellent! Avocado toast and breakfast burrito leading for the best breaky item. I've never been here when it was the wine bar at night but it looks pretty awesome and it's a very local spot. Run don't walk. I love the Lost Bean! First and foremost, their products are phenomenal. I'm at tea drinker (no coffee, ever), and they have a great selection of teas. To be fair, I usually default to the breakfast tea. A tea is very affordable at $3.50. They also have delicious breakfast foods (gluten free blueberry, burritos, other pastries, etc.), as well as healthy-looking lunch menu. To be fair: I haven't dined for lunch yet... but soon! The location is a double-storefront -- so it's really quite large. The cafe is thoughtfully designed: there are some low, comfy chairs at the front. A bar-like table with high-back chairs, as well as some normal tables and chairs to accommodate 2, 4 or larger groups. What I appreciate are the power outlets. I'll pop in here, have a tea, check a few emails -- and don't need to worry about conserving battery power. I can confirm that locations do matter ~ After trying the coffee at The Lost Bean in Irvine versus at this location in Tustin, I definitely like the taste of the coffee here! I got their signature drink La Paz, which is their latte with caramelized raw sugar. It was absolutely delicious - strong and minimally sweetened - just how I like it :) There were also many tables available for my friend and I to study! I would say it was an ideal work environment, with there being wifi, outlets, quiet music and great coffee. As for the quiches, it was sadly subpar. I got the broccoli and cheddar and my friend got the bacon and cheese quiche. The outer crust was super hard and the bottom was soggy, but overall it tasted alright. As for parking, I can always find a spot in the lot in front, but the spaces are quite tight fyi. Will I be coming back? Yes, for the study vibes and the coffee :) read more

Came here over the weekend to pick up a drink while waiting for my lunch order. We were quickly greeted by the gentleman at the cashier and was told to ask any questions since it was our first time. I ended up ordering and iced La Paz and my fiancé ordered a caramel blended drink. We both enjoyed our drinks. My fiancés caramel blended drink was a bit too sweet for my taste but the flavors were were. My iced La Paz was under sweet. The La Paz, according to the guy, is an iced brown sugar-ish latte. I was expecting it to be sweeter but it's good if you want a lightly sweet latte. The cafe is super cute inside with a whole other section for sitting/dining in. It's definitely a cute place to get some work/studying done or even grab brunch with a friend. Someone previously mentioned that the location makes a difference, and that person was right! I remember when the Irvine location was brand new and I wanted to try a drink but their staff was rude.. this location, the staff is great! Or at least the one guy we interacted with was super great. This business is inside of The Mess Hall in Tustin and it's a pretty cool little spot. Background--The Mess Hall is like a big adult cafeteria with several options for eating/non-alcoholic drinks. So I visited the Lost Bean yesterday and it was a good experience-- the had a good selection l of coffees and teas and enjoyed the white peach iced tea I got. It was very flavorful tea and super refreshing! My friend tried the black passion tea and he gave it good reviews. We got a blueberry scone to share and it was solid! I'm not a huge pastry person, but the scone was very flakey (in a good way), moist and overall a solid pick. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the the guy who helped us made a lot of intense/awkward eye contact. He was very nice, but he was basically staring into my soul when asking my order and taking payment so that was a little much for me. I still recommend this place though! read more
