I have been to this place in my 20's. Not much has changed. Great music spot. Sound system is actually good. Bar food is ok. I wouldn't go here for food. Beers on craft ($8,$9 bucks) was a bit on the pricier side if this place is supposed to be divey. Also note that the table service has a 2 drinks or 1 food item minimum order per person. Our server was pleasant. Conveniently located on Pico blvd with tons of free metered parking after 8pm. Depending on their events calendar, there is usually a cover to get in. read more

if i could 0 stars i would. the venue is great, the drinks are great, the music that night (quarters of change) was f**king amazing. HOWEVER the employees treated us with the most disrespect. my sister had left her phone and when trying to locate it, an employee named Fanee answered and was completely hammered and just treating us with complete disregard over the phone. we then asked to speak to a manager, whose name is Eloy, who was also hammered!! The only thing I hate about this place is in order to get in there you have to pay to see one of the bands performing that night. That is not my complaint, obviously. My complaint is, they should not allow a-holes to carry on loud conversations, completely disrespecting the performer and the fans that went to see the performer play. While purchasing tickets, they should warn their customers that they will be kicked out if they do so. If you're bored with what you're hearing, then get the F out, you rude f-ed up lame excuses for human beings! Why the F do so many a-holes pay a lot of money just to yell in each others ears and strain to listen to each other, when they can go many other places and do the same without having to yell and strain, and more importantly, without having to ruin other paying customers enjoyment? Yelling and straining to hear in no way is appealing to me. Let alone disrespecting and ruining other paying customers enjoyment in the process of their completely rude and discourteous idocity. You can easily reserve a table here as long as you contact them in time, before all tables are reserved. They have a two item minimun, and if you order dinner, that counts as your two items, which it should. The prices aren't that bad, and the portions are pretty big for the dinners. This is a very small and intimate venue that allows for people to interact with the bands and band with the people. They have a full kitchen that serves solid food as well as a full bar with reasonable prices. It's a venue that is easy to Tupac out and you can tell how intimate it is as soon as you walk in. The stage for performances is surrounded on two sides by comfortable VIP esque seating and the front center of the stage is a more traditional seating in the eating area. Directly to the back (straightahead if you are on the stage) is the bar area. This makes it easy for you to sit wherever inside the venue as well as grab a drink and hear the bands that may be plane. This venue is especially good since they allow lots of local talent an artist to come and play and establish themselves as the next up and coming at. If you're looking for a good venue with solid food & drinks, and laid ambiance then The Mint is The place to be! read more

The Mint is one of my favorite music venues. You can buy tickets in advance online, and I believe you can get a presale discount and an additional $1 off by posting your purchase via social media. The food is very good too. I usually get the chicken taquitos though, and a drink, or a dessert if I want or have the opportunity to sit at a table. Small price to pay. The seating is dependent on the drawing capacity of the performers. If it's a popular act, the only seating is in permanent booths along the walls, which have to be reserved in advance. The floor tables are cleared and the floor becomes standing room only. If it's light to moderate attendance, there are about 10 floor tables that may be reserved or taken on a first come, first served basis. These are meant for customers ordering a minimum two drinks per set or ordering food. Hence my mention of food and drink. The waitresses are pretty nice; one kept caressing my shoulder every time she went by, and I'll never be the same again. Cameras are generally allowed, as long as it's not disruptive. I was once reminded that video was not allowed, even though I wasn't shooting video. I just nodded, I was in compliance. I've seen all kinds of music genres represented here recently. Billy Cobham band, Anna Nalick, Katie Cole, Free Dominguez, Alexz Johnson, Amy LaVere, Lera Lynn, Misty Boyce...the list goes on. Great, unforgettable shows. Mostly they all hang out after their sets to say hello, and sign stuff at the merchandise table. Excited to be here for the first WILL GITTENS concert and with this being my first time attending this venue I will say management & customer service is terrible. I went to pull out a chair to sit down (btw I'm disabled & partially blind) and a woman turned around and pulled it away from me and said very rudely I'm saving that seat. I let staff and management know of this experience and was told that there's no ADA/Disability Access and that there was nothing they can do regarding this incident. I will never come back to this venue and advise anyone with disabilities to not come to this venue because they will not accommodate. read more

Nice quiet place on the outskirts of Hollywood. Came to see a friends band play here. Got there early to catch the opening performers, but I guess they had a late start, because the band we came to see started over an hour late. I only had drinks there and they have a small menu of food and provide late service. Tables do require a minimum item per person and open sitting at the bar. The only problem can be all the people standing in front of you. Parking can be a problem. We found a open space near by, but did not see parking lots around the area. read more

Came here last night for the first time for a residency show. It's very intimate with lots of seating (minimum 2 drinks or meal to sit). No matter where you're sitting or standing, you will have a great and close view. The acoustics are great, the decor is cool, and I don't know if this is a regular thing but there's an artist painting in the back while the bands play- he was amazing!! What a great surprise and bonus. His work is displayed throughout The Mint. The drinks are weird. First I had a really watered down sex on the beach, then a way stronger sweet alternative to one of their cocktails. They did have another cocktail they served in a metal cup that was delicious (I believe its also their cheapest cocktail at $9). Street parking was not a problem. I'd definitely come here again, had a great time! read more

Pretty great place!! Basically came out to watch my drummer husband play with Jay Stolar & his band! Which by the way, Jay is a great performer & musician! The hostess was super friendly and a joy to talk to. The drinks were average... I just got a glass of pinot grigio - Didn't taste bad, or great, mediocre. It was a bit difficult to reach past those sitting at the bar to talk with the bartenders and get said drinks. The food smelled amazing. Like really greasy bar food, yum! I like that there were tables, big & small, booths or chairs, and all separated out throughout the venue. Definitely recommend! This place didn't seem clean, but the lights were super dim, so who would notice, especially with alcohol & great entertainment... read more

I am beyond disappointed in this place. I bought tickets to a show for my husband as a Christmas gift. The night of the show we looked at the website to check out the menu and saw that the band we were planning on seeing was no longer scheduled to play. There was no info on the website saying that they had cancelled. I had previously emailed dinner reservations to see if we get a close table, so I simply responded to that email. I told them no one informed us the band wasn't playing anymore and said we had no desire to go since the band wasn't playing. I was told I would be refunded. This was a month ago. I have the email stating I would receive my money back. So in the past 28 days I have gotten the same response "looking into it". And I have now left 4 voicemails asking for a call back. Guess what. No call. It's very sad that I'm being ignored even after being told I would get my money back. Not a good way to treat people. To the owner in lieu of his response: No I have not received my refunded I left my 5th voicemail last night. read more

This venue exists for the music and the fans of it. Come early for shows. Very intimate venue. Limited view if you stand in the back. It gets crowded, especially for well-known musicians. Excellent! The music is the star here, and there's not a bad seat in the joint -- even if you have to stand. Smooth without the trappings of overly-earnest lounge. I liked coming here, and can't believe it took me so long! The stage is well-lit, the sound spot on. The drinks were fine, nice selection of craft brews and more --- though the slightly brusque barstaff may not wait for you. So belly up, and order! The food looks and smells perfectly fine -- I have no other information for you on that (as yet). Street parking is safe, even if you might think otherwise. read more

Monday, April 2nd was surprisingly my first time to come to The Mint being that I've lived in Los Angles for ten years and it's been around so long. Some of my friends were performing and I was excited to come. Upon arrival I was impressed with the fact there was plenty of street parking (probably because it was Monday). So far so good. Some friends and I enter the bar and are shortly greeted by someone that says we have to go back to the front because we need to pay and be stamped. We paid the $10 door. Now, I was expecting some sort of two drink minimum because that's usually the deal. I look up and there is a sign that says, "When seated at a table a one food item or two drink minimum purchase is required." Okay, that's fine. I sit down with my friends and we watch the band and order drinks. As people start requesting their check's it soon becomes apparent that the minimum is $15. Now, here's the rub. The drinks generally cost $6 and all the food items that I saw were under $15. So, it was quite a nice little trick to make people pay for more. I had bought one of my friends a Cosmo (which was $6) and I bought two drinks for myself but because she had a separate tab she had to buy three drinks to cover this minimum. The dangerous thing is that since it was a Monday night we all weren't staying very long and were pretty much forced to drink three drinks in an hour and get in a car. Cool little well-maintained vintage venue for live music. Went there to see a friend's friend play last night and it was nice and cozy. As other people have stated, that 2 drink minimum or $10 food purchase required to sit at a table kinda sucks, but really, that's not all that much money. Plus, I didn't mind standing around for a couple of hours, and the bartenders were all very nice. Oh yeah, there's a $10 minimum for credit card charges, too. Anyway, we got there really early (it was a showcase that started at 8pm), so we easily found parking in the neighborhood nearby. Unfortunately, we had to leave just when it was getting going, so I don't think I can say I'm delivering an account of a "full" experience, but overall we had fun. read more

Came here tonight to see Galvin Castleton for the first time. This place is so famous but yet cheezy.. lol Very friendly bartender. We tried their calamari.. :-( so fake, wanabe calamari.. desperately oily too. The stage was "cute" still seems like back in the 60's with the green background, and the records on the ceiling of the stage. The sound was not very good. The club should invest on their sound system. Well, I go where the performers go not basing on which clubs they are playing at. But I don't think I will come here again just for the heck of it and for drinks. read more

What a cool venue! Can't believe I've lived in the Los Angeles area my whole life and have never once set foot in this gem. Now, of course, being a huge live music fan, I've been to loads of venues over the years and it took of all people, Dr. House, to get me to come here. What? Yes, Hugh Laurie performed his cool album, Let Them Talk. It is a small intimate venue with cool decor sort of vintage in ambience. This was a general admission show so there were no bad "seats" or rather spots around the bar/lounge/stage area to see and hear the band. There is valet parking but street parking was really easy and the area reasonably safe. We encountered only a few people in line before us so getting in wasn't a problem. Will call went smoothly and the venue, not surprisingly was packed. Drinks reasonably I think (don't remember the exact cost). A really special treat was had for the encore when Tom Jones came out and did 3 or 4 songs. Very cool even if I am not a huge fan of his (a couple of the people in my group were however and we got a great photo with TJ after the show). Beware, however, cute young drunks girls will hit up on your man so be wary......... read more

This was a great spot for music. I was blown away by the quality for a Monday night. In fact I was surprised to find music at all on a Monday night. The patrons were friendly and it is clearly a local spot which is a bit of a community. I was clearly the outsider and to be frank, not cool enough to really be here, but they made me feel welcome and I had a great time. There was a good beer selection and it was very reasonably priced. I didn't get food on this visit but I was sat close enough to the kitchen to see plenty of it coming out and it looked and smelled delicious. The mac & cheese looked popular from what I saw. The atmosphere of the place was the feel of a real dive bar, dark, dingy, cheap beers with great artwork and music memorabilia all over the place. Service was good but nothing to write home about. Music was excellent and the musicians I saw were: - Ora the molecule - Funky, energetic 5 piece with a great sound Jennie Chapman - English singer/songwriter playing the ukulele with a nice mix of her own material and some covers in her very own style. Bloody Death Skull - Interesting, don't really know how to describe them other than punky lyrics and a little heavier than I would like The Slit - Heavier rock, great rich sound, a little heavy for a Monday night but great energy. If it were a Friday, I would have been all over it. I didn't see the last act but I got a great taste of what this place was about and I would put it on my list of places to revisit even if to just try the food! read more

The Mint is a blessing to musicians playing in Los Angeles and to live music fans. Typically, I stay as far away from LA as I can, based on the traffic, air quality, and freeway shootings. But then I saw that one of my favorite artists (Gregory Porter) had a live show at The Mint, so I bought 4 dinner/show tickets and drove up to see him perform. The Mint has an easy to find location on Pico Boulevard with plenty of free street parking less than a block from the club. We got there about an hour before showtime and stood near the front of line, which eventually wrapped around the corner. You check in with Deana(give this woman a raise), then security checks ID's and you get a stamp. Luckily, dinner reservations get seated first, so get in and order your drinks before the crowd comes flooding in. We were given an awesome booth that was about 15 feet to the left of the stage. That is pretty damn close. After eating dinner, we stood up right in front of our booth to better see the show onstage. Perfect view. Dinner was good, and the prices were reasonable, especially for a club. Standouts were the blackened fish tacos, vegetable napoleon and the hummus plate. Drinks were stiff here and the service was great considering that the place was packed with a sold out, standing room only show. Our friendly waitress even remembered extra limes on every round of drinks! The show was better than I hoped it to be. The Mint is so intimate that the sound, especially vocals, are heard loud and clear. You could actually feel it in your soul. You don't ever get that feeling at bigger venues. To finish the show, Gregory Porter walked out to the crowd(with no security) to thank people for coming out. He took time to shake hands and take pictures with all of his dedicated fans. The staff at the Mint seems to have it all figured out, and they deliver an experience that you would not expect from such a small venue. Big name artists, great food and drinks, and a staff that takes excellent care of it's guests. Oh yeah, the crowd is great too. Security did not flex a muscle all night. The Mint seems to attract a mature crowd of people that come out to have a good time without any drama. We'll be back! P.S. Friday night show, and I expected the place to be packed and parking difficult to find. I found a spot right around the corner, probably the closest spot possible when not parking in front. Awesome! The atmosphere is chill and inviting, and I love the intimate setting of the place. The drinks were average priced for this type of venue and location, in my opinion ($16 for a double whiskey on the rocks, served in a 12oz rocks glass!). Staff was cool and let us hang out and talk with the band after the show, and didn't hustle us out. read more

I wish I didn't live on the east side! Or that this place was there with me! Went tonight to see Dustbowl Revival on the last night of their residency and I LOVED IT. Lots of space, tons of places to see the stage. Didn't drink anything but wine but smelled a ton of great food and the beer list looks great! Hit this place up for live music definitely. Acoustics are amazing. Atmosphere is cozy and old-timey. The band wrapped up at 1:30 and took the show out to the street and played some New Orleans style jams - that's one way to clear out a bar. :) Awesome time that I will definitely go back for more! read more

I'm a big fan of this place! I've seen my favorite band, Midnight Mirage, perform here a few times, and I always have a great time! Great location, parking's easy, doesn't cost a lot to get in, really cool rock n' roll vibe, too. Great music too, obviously. It's a perfect place to see music, the stage is almost on the same level as the rest of the place, which makes it feel more intimate. I've seen Midnight Mirage perform at a famous place several times on the Sunset Strip, but for some reason, the Mint was a much richer experience (in terms of depth, how much I liked it). This place is rad, I definitely want to come here to check out some up-and-coming bands! (Parking is free on Sundays here, so maybe I'll come to Sunday shows...) read more

What a fun venue in a convenient West LA location. Saw Wayward Sons here on a Saturday night. Venue is small but the food & drinks were good and the sound was great. Drinks were between $9 and $11 and the pours were good. Also we had the nachos and the buffalo chicken tenders. Both were good. The venue itself is dark and old but seemed fairly clean. What is annoying is the $15 card minimum at the bar.. lame. Live in the neighborhood, got a post about shows this month at The Mint. Decided to go tonight and highly disappointed. There was no formal introduction while entering, so no bouncer or stand. My problem and what this review is about is the bartender. She, from the moment I arrived was aggressive and short tempered. I asked where I could sit and made it clear I was having a drink and food and she insists while fumbling on her words saying I had to spend a minimum at the tables. Didn't understand why I couldn't buy a drink at the bar and another at the table with food. She didn't offer me a menu. Just all wrong. The crowd there was a small size so it was not a matter of volume. I did catch the ending of a vocalist on stage, she was fantastic. Hitting long powerful notes. The host who seemed enthusiastic announced the next performances. Unfortunately I am not interested in returning. Hope your experience there is a lot better. I love this place. The staff (service, security and kitchen) is gracious and cheerful, the menu is solid and far above "bar food" status, and the talent up on the stage is consistently great!! Also, the ticket prices are consistently within reach so that most anyone can go see great live music and not bust their bank account. Whoever books the talent there deserves a big shout out too. They know how to do it!! The acoustics are great too. The only downside would be that when they do have a much in-demand group performing and the place packs up, it can get mighty warm in there, particularly on a warm summer night. This place is right by our house and has some good acts come by. It is small and intimate. It can get crowded and the standing room could get contentious. For the most part, though, everyone is cool and they are good about holding off the next show's crowd until the previous show is over. If you want a table, you must make a reservation and buy entrees while there. I've never personally had the food, but it looks good coming out. We saw a lot go by as we were standing by the kitchen door to watch our show, Eden's Edge. The sound is good in the venue and I highly recommend it if you can stand, otherwise, get a table. I came to the Mint with a friend that's "In the Industry" (is that how you say it?). Anyhoo, I had a lovely time at this venue, and saw Sean Rowe here (who is amazing everyone!). As others have noted, it's an intimate venue, with great sound. The staff are friendly and welcoming (let's face it, that's rare in LALA-Land) and they have a good selection of drinks. They also serve food which I did not try. If you are an artist performing here, they have cozy rooms in the back for you pre- and post-show. Valet parking is available. The women's restroom was fun as people wrote things all over the walls like "Sarah was here" or "I love rainbows" or Whatever... :), reminded me of my high school restroom, very nostalgic!
