Good for groups and kids; difficult to find healthy options. Affordable price range. Meals come in three courses: soup/salad, entree, and scoop of ice cream. You can make reservations ahead of time to guarantee a spot for a larger group. Carmel location even has a room that's great to use for events such as a wedding rehearsal. To accommodate kids, they have high chairs and car seat swings. A kids menu and activity sheet with crayons can be provided. The restaurant is loud enough that some noise from kids doesn't make a scene. Our waiter even brought us a cup of hot water to warm up our baby's bottle. If you're watching what you eat, it can be hard to find a healthy option. The minestrone soup is the best thing you can get at 1 Weight Watcher point. The spinach ravioli is the best entree at 16 points. The salad dressings and even broccoli which you'd think would be a smart option are high in points. Our kids had been wanting to go here for sometime, so we made reservations and visited July 7th at 6:30pm. When we arrived, we told the hostess that we had a reservation for 5 people. For some reason, she wanted to argue that the reservation was for 3 people until we showed the confirmation on our phone. Let me add that by looking at the sparse crowd in here for a Friday night.......... we did NOT need a reservation. Let me start this review my saying that we REALLY wanted to love this place. I used to visit the downtown Indy location several times many years ago, so we were all looking forward to this dining experience. Ambiance: Very cool interior, great decor and comfortable booth. Service: Service was good. Unfortunately, nobody told our server that we had been seated so we sat in our booth for several minutes prior to be greeted. Menu: We asked our server which Zithira pasta recipe he recommened (that's what this place is famous for) and he said the garlic Zithira pasta. I ordered the Chicken Parm and a side of "jumbo shrimp". The remainng 3 dishes were a spinach tortellini and two kids alfredo pastas. We started with the cheese bread with marinara. The cheese bread with marinara was the best part of the meal. We started off strong and took a dive off of a steep cliff after that part of the meal. Food: Everyone ..... yes EVERYONE in our party of 5 were disappointed with the food. Has The Old Spaghetti Factory never heard of seasoning? Salt, pepper, garlic.........do any of these ring familiar at all? When my chicken parm dish came out, there was very little marinara sauce on the spaghetti. I asked our server if I could get some more marinara, which he brought out. I laughed in disbelief that the restaurant charged me for the additional sauce. Uh...what?? The "jumbo shrimp" side was literally 6 or 7 pieces of cooked shrimp in a little bowl. Again, no seasoning at all and each piece was no larger than a quarter. We wanted to love this place. We even downloaded the app, thinking it would be great to have this delivered some night. Annnnnnnd then we deleted the app. Pass. A co-worker texted me that night to see how the meal was, as he and his family have always been OSF fans. When I explained how bad the food was, he said that made him mad (at the restaurant) because the food is usually good. Note to self. When you're having dinner at 6:30pm on Friday and the restaurant only has about 25 people in it......... turn and walk out. That should have been a clue to us. I don't know if The Old Spaghetti Factory in Carmel is long for this world. I suppose we could have been on an "off night" but the lack of crowd tends to suggest that this is the future of this restaurant. This was extremely disappointing. On a side note, I attempted to re-heat and eat the Tortellini Alfredo for lunch today as it barely got touched at dinner the other night. No. Flavor. It's always fun spending $110 + tip for bad food. Service was spotty, we received our wine before waters and had to ask a few times to have the refilled. She shared that she had been with the Downtown branch for I think she said over 13 years and then here for 3. Atmosphere is different with lots of wood, velvet, old school vibe and train car inspired tables if you so desire or get lucky to be seated there. I had planned a family dinner and made reservations here for 5:30pm. We arrived on time and waited a bit to initially be helped because I think there were about 4 individuals waiting for to go orders. We were then seated and our waitress came by after a bit letting us know she would be with us shortly. She took our drink order and food at the same time because we had been waiting about 10-15 minutes. Drinks came out fast and we got one loaf of bread. Our food on the other hand didn't get served until after 6:30. For being a more expensive restaurant, I would expect faster and more attentive service. The food overall wasn't bad. The food came out hot just didn't have much flavor and one of our orders came out incorrectly. I don't know if I would say it's worth the price with all the other Italian restaurants in the area. It is what it is. It's The Old Spaghetti Factory, so you should not expect "authenticity" or whatever everyone else is complaining about. It's Eye-talian food for the Midwest American masses, and that is exactly what you get. The service was really great, and we received our food in a timely order. Every meal is a three-course meal, so you have a choice of either soup or salad (or salad or apple sauce for kids), an entree, and either spumoni or vanilla ice cream. You also get a loaf of warm french bread for the table. I got the spinach and cheese ravioli because it was the entree with the fewest calories, in a restaurant where almost everything on the menu is a calorie bomb. It was a huge plate of ravioli, and it seemed like a lot of food for 475 calories, but I took their word for it that it was what it said it was. I also got the minestrone soup (which was 100 calories, in case you were wondering), and it was really good and brothy. There were big chunks of cabbage, lima beans, kidney beans and carrots. The soup was probably the best part of the meal. The kids meals were good sizes -- not too much food. I would never willingly choose to eat at The Old Spaghetti Factory, but I know lots of people who have an affinity for this type of food, so I find myself here more than I'd like. Orders should be made in the order they are received, no matter HOW the order is received. Absolute bull that they've got over an hour and a half wait on an order that's prepaid for. The Old Spaghetti Factory has always been my favorite place to go for lunch or dinner. I came here to meet a distant relative on my mother's side of the family, and we enjoyed a great meal. Our server was friendly and was very professional. The craft beer list is decent and the cocktails are exceptional. The chicken parmagina was wonderful and delicious. The tiriamasu is excellent! The restaurant itself is very eclectic and the design is extravagant. It is like an old town hall setting with a beautiful long brown couch in the lobby. The bar area is beautiful and the hardwood flooring is nice throughout the restaurant. I often order the lasagna from Uber Eats because it is so wonderful, but decided to try something different with the Chicken Parmagina. If you want a great family meal at an inexpensive price, you have to go to The Old Spaghetti Factory in Carmel. It is pure delight and enjoyment all in one!! read more

I have tried a few different pastas, including the one that gives you a combo of three different ones. I am just not a fan of this place. It's only a few year old but still has the old feel of some of the older locations. We were running late and the host graciously let us push our reservation back half an hour. Once we arrived, a spacious table was waiting for us. The restaurant was still pretty busy then (8:00PM) but had mostly cleared about 30 minutes later. Our server was super competent, got everyone's orders perfect, and kept the refills coming. Our service was just okay as we never heard of any of the specials and we also asked for additional bread and that was never given. My other half ordered a Italian Cream Soda and this comes with a collectible glass. Once he had finished the drink and wanted the glass;the waiter came out with just the glass no box or anything to carry it. That was not ideal, as we were out of town and didn't really have a way to transport the glass safely. Went there yesterday with my daughter and niece for lunch. No one liked the food. Portions of my meal were served cold. Not sure how you make macaroni and cheese unappealing to kids, but that's what happened. Server came back to our table and asked if we were done eating- clearly seeing that we barely ate anything. She asked if we wanted boxes to take our leftovers home. I replied- "No thanks. None of us liked the food." She responded by saying "OK. Let me get you your bill". We paid and left. My husband and I have been to the Carmel, Indiana location many times in the last almost 2 years. We went for a post- birthday celebration last night, and were terribly disappointed in simple alcoholic beverages from the "know it all" bartender. Our garlic cheesy bread was not the same as in the past, not crunchy at all. My husband didn't think his spaghetti with meat sauce was were $17 & the Caesar salad was drowning and dressing. We tried this TOSF last night and he enjoyed it tremendously. He had no complaints. However My expectations were not quite met. Our server was single handedly covering another table of. Twenty. He had little time for us. The salad missed a grating of fresh parm and the lasagne noodles were over cooked & mushy. Started off as I always do, when I go to an Italian restaurant. I ordered the calamari as an appetizers. It was not bad. It wasn't great, but it was not bad. The pieces were a little larger than fork size, and it was still pretty chewy. The taste wasn't bad. The breading was a heavier type. I ordered the Meat Lover's Feast or something like that. The sauce was not very thick. It comes with 2 meatballs and a link of Italian sausage. Those were tasty. The best part of the meal was the Italian cream soda I ordered.
