Two years ago, we drove from Las Vegas to try this country fried steak, and it's still as delicious as I remember. The steak is tender with a crispy, flavorful breading, and the creamy gravy is the perfect complement. The sides, like buttery mashed potatoes and fresh green beans, are excellent. This was not my first choice, but I was highly impressed by this fairly straight forward southern spot with enough modern twists and offerings for a fairly progressive neighborhood. This place is huge, and luckily you wont see a wait, compared to some of the other popular brunch spots in town. They also have quite the variety with wither being at a bar, at a table indoors, on the covered patio, or on the side patio that's semi covered. The tots 3 ways are gut bombs for your appetite. With each tot, you lose 20% of your appetite by how rich these things are. I like the fact that they stuff these with cheese. These are not typical, cylindrically, crispy fried tots that are the size of your thumb. These are more of the size of a billiards ball. I went 50/50 on the toppings, which I honestly could tell much of a difference. The chicken tender strips are standard, but don't go beyond the bare minimum of my expectation. These strips aren't as hot as I would have wanted, nor does it stay as moist as I would have liked closer to the end of the meal. The cream cheese toast is worth getting if you want some cream cheese and blackberry jam. The almonds on top are a nice touch. I would have liked to see the bread be a bit more toasted, but the bread was still soft and bready in taste. The oklahoma lemonade is everything I would have wished for as a drink when I was a child. Sweet, fruity, and enough low tone to hold its ground. The peach gummy is a nice touch, and the cowboy boot glass made it even more fun. Every sip felt like a wonderful, homemade version of the sweet peach tea you possibly have had at Sonic. read more

First off, service was excellent, shout out to Emily! There was sadly some kitchen issues we noticed though. Our first selection of the waffle fried bonanza was everything and then some, flavor was awesome, but some could argue it was too rich. Depending on who you are thats not a problem and we loved it. The meatloaf with Mac n cheese, and asparagus was fantastic; the meatloaf was flavorful enough to stand out. The mashed tater bowl needed help, too salty, overcooked corn, and to top it off... tiny pieces of burnt old-oil chicken. (Maybe the kitchen was struggling because we did arrive at 7:30 PM and they close at 9:00 PM , just a thought You can't shame chicken in Oklahoma like this place did. We will be back because the atmosphere was excellent with smooth lighting, and super clean wall to wall. We even bought a pint glass ! read more

My husband is obsessed with Mac and cheese and one of our friends mentioned the Press to us to try because they have a Buffalo/BBQ chicken mac that she said was delicious. We started off our meal with chips and queso. The chips were the really good thick kind and the queso looked amazing but was not that impressive to be honest. It tasted a lot like plain melted American cheese. We both got the BBQ mac bowls (I would have had the Buffalo one but my pregnancy reflux would not allow for a good time if I ordered it). Once again, unfortunately we did not really care for the mac. The noodles were way overdone and the chicken was not crispy or hot. I couldn't finish mine. It was very unappealing. I want to believe that their food is better than this normally and maybe it was an off day. I've heard they have good brunch. The one thing that could have made the experience better would have been to have excellent service. The service was super slow. Also, we were two couples and the server brought us 2 checks at the end without asking if we were all together or separate and handed them to the guys without looking at us ladies. My husband and I don't care because our finances are combined but the other couple is newly dating and it was awkward and a little offensive to them. My family and I have visited OKC a few times, but this was the first time we'd eaten here and we all agreed that it wouldn't be our last. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious and the drinks were even better. The environment is very chill and gave me the feeling of a coffee shop or small cafe. Pros: Our server Hannah is super sweet, prompt and friendly. We enjoyed having her so much we came back. Even if she's really busy she brings waters by and checks how you're doing and how your food tastes. Gives great recommendations as well. You'll be more than satisfied with your service. The breakfast bomb was incredible-potatoes were amazing. 5/5. Shrimp and grits were creamy, best part of the dish 4.5/5. (something about the mushroom sauce wasn't my favorite thing) but it was still worth experiencing. If you've had Cheever's shrimp and grits or R&j's shrimp and grits you'll find this version more homey-leans more toward creamy comfort food than gourmet and it works. Chicken fried ribeye (3.5/5) breading was very tasty, (I haven't had chicken fried steak before so I don't have much to compare it to. Definitely not a light dish. If you're in the mood for a heavy comfort food it's worth trying. Wasn't impressed by the Mac and cheese. Perhaps I got a bad batch because the first time here the lady sitting next to us highly recommended it. Drives from Houston to have it. The green beans were very interesting- almost Smokey, not over cooked, not undercooked, perfect. Very tasty. Overall not bad at all just didn't knock my socks off. Chilaquiles- 5/5 smoky, not too spicy, in the mild side but plenty of flavor. Delicious. Cons (and small notes) --- for the picky people!! (Like me, lol) I wouldn't eat inside if you can avoid it. It's kind of dark. Outside felt much more enjoyable. If you have someone with you that needs back support make sure you get a table and not one of the open benches. They are fun for a couple or if you are feeling social: it was fun to have people kind of close by to chat with and trade menu recommendations. Happening place with delicious comfort food! The exceptional service started when we walked in the door. We came at 1130am on a Saturday morning. They were able to seat our party of 7. If OKC hadn't just been covered in snow, we could have enjoyed brunch on their patio. The menu offers a variety of cocktails, appetizers, breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, and much more. Our server was attentive and provided outstanding service. We each tried something different and ALL of the different dishes were so good. I had a lovely time visiting this place on my vacation to Oklahoma City. My friend recommended it and we had lunch here. I ordered the pot roast. The meat was delicious and fell apart as I ate it. It was served with squash and zucchini over mashed potatoes. I wish I lived closer because I would absolutely be eating here every day. I do not frequent this part of town often, but there are some hidden gems in the Plaza District. A fellow foodie recommended The Press to me last week, and I wasted no time getting there. We went for lunch on a weekday, and there were plenty of tables. The restaurant is actually quite large. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was casual and fun. There is also a large outdoor seating area that would be fun in the evenings. We started with the unique sweet potato fritters. I was expecting the texture of an apple fritter, but it was actually just mashed sweet potato with some spices. So the result is a crispy sweet outside with a creamy center. Sprinkled with a little powdered sugar, these fritters are perfect for an appetizer or dessert. There are probably 8-9 in the bowl, so it is plenty to share with 4 people. When I see chicken fried steak on a menu, I cannot resist ordering it. This was made even more special because it was chicken fried ribeye. The crust was crispy and very flavorful. The mashed potatoes and gravy were the perfect accompaniment. This meal was served with green beans, which were just so-so. The other guests with me both enjoyed their meals as well. We left full and satisfied due to the large portion sizes. The restaurant is a little tucked away! I noticed the patio area first. The patio would be great during nice weather. Unfortunately it was raining and cold when we went so we didn't get to experience it. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was nice. The kids menu had great options! We ordered the loaded waffle fries, side of mac n cheese, and the nachos. Everything came out the way that we liked it. I ordered a margarita from the bar and it was great! The food was good but nothing outstanding. One odd thing is the restaurant floor heavily sloped in one direction once you got to the outer parts of the restaurant. It was pretty inconvenient with two kids trying to avoid spills with the uneven tables and chairs. Not a huge biggie but I would try to get a central table if you have little ones! read more

Where have I been and why have I never visited The Press? I was introduced to this place be colleagues and 18 of us visited for lunch this week. A lot of us had never been there. All of us deemed this was our favorite new place in The Plaza. The portions are HUGE (especially for lunch). We were seated at two large communal tables and there was at least another large work group lunching there as well so it has some large spaces. (Looks like it was perhaps an old auto garage in a previous life.) The menu had too many things I wanted to try. Our table went with the Mashed Potato Bowl (true, true comfort food), a Press Cobb Salad (which was huge and declared delicious), and the Indian Taco (good but with a very thin fry bread crust). Four of us went with the Buffalo Mac 'n Cheese. The radiatori pasta was a good choice for this dish. The sauce was a bit thin and not the cheesiest, but the fried chicken doused in Buffalo sauce with bits of blue cheese made the dish. I would order this again! The sweet potato fritters are delicious for dessert. But, do not leave with out ordering the butterscotch ice cream!!!!!!! Get enough spoons to share. read more

This was my first time visiting the Press and I absolutely loved this tucked away restaurant! Their inside dining area and patio are surprisingly spacious and definitely practice social distancing. I enjoyed their brunch/lunch menu and got the breakfast bomb where I have to rave about my perfectly cooked eggs! I can't tell you how many times I will order over easy at other brunch restaurants and get served over hard. Anyways, fear not your order is in great hands at The Press. If you enjoy hot sauce they have an in house creation that has the perfect tang to the spice ratio. We also ordered their brunch mimosa bottle that was $20! They had a really extensive list of juices to pick from including orange, apple, cranberry, grapefruit, and grapefruit lime juice to have served with your mimosa!
