The servers and waiters are on point and very attentiveI was greeted and asked if I'd been helped on 3 different occasions within the first 2 minutes of waiting after initial contact. The ambiance has a classic Diner vibe, the interior is small and quaint. Which is right up my alley! The pancakes were gigantic, fluffy and everything I'd expect from a classic diner.I got two orders of 3 thinking one wouldn't be enough for me and the family, but it was more than enough. Judging by the clientele in the restaurant, it gives me the impression that there are a lot of returning local regulars. While that may be a good sign, that didn't help me out too much. Once I received my food, I was never checked on. I needed a new napkin, and I would have enjoyed a refill on my drink....both of which never occurred. A shame, too, because other customers seemed engaged in conversation. The food was....meh at best. My cheese omelet had slices of American cheese in it that were NOT melted. The potatoes only tasted of onion....no seasoning, no potato flavor...just onion. They were cold, too. The saving grace would be the singular pancake...the perfect texture and hot off the griddle. Also, it is almost $4 for a soda....especially ridiculous considering mine was never refilled. I hadn't been here in a while. Came in and was seated right away many open tables. Ordered our food and coffee and got a cup with lipstick on it, no problem it was swapped for a clean one right away. So we were not all done with the coffee when the waitress came to make a comment "we have a 1 hour limit" and there's about 2-3 tables open. The food is very good and comforting.. home cooking! The grits in particular are excellently prepared and come in just the right proportion. I love them with butter, salt and pepper. We sat at the counter and had the view to see these incredible people at work. Each and every human working was kind, attentive, and they were MOVING. Kudos to the entire team for being rockstars! So far, we've had the Belgian waffle breakfast, the two egg breakfast with banana bread and the ham steak breakfast! All were very good. Just right and nicely done. I was in Pasadena looking for a mid-morning weekend breakfast and wanted to be a little off the beaten path. Who wants to wait an hour somewhere off Colorado? So, with a bit of searching, I found The Reyn. Loved the endorsements in Yelp. Called ahead and was told it was about a 20 minute wait. Sold. Instantly, I felt a happy vibe. Busy, yes, but everyone seemed to be a good a place. Loved the simple, cozy interior with small, comfy booths. Got my good diner coffee then went with the Farmer's Breakfast. A couple eggs over easy (or any style), two sausage links, two bacon, choice of potatoes (or fruit) AND a couple buttermilk pancakes. I was hungry but still brought some to-go. Food came quickly. Everything was cooked right, even the bacon which I requested to be medium. Maria was my main person, and she was great. She helped guide me, suggesting the hash browns when I wasn't sure what box to check. A good call. It's a group effort, though, to be sure at The Reyn. A handful of other staff members pitched in for everyone. The banana bread at checkout looks fantastic, and it's reasonably priced. Next time, for sure. I've been here a couple of times for breakfast and i always enjoy it. I love "American breakfast." Me and my daughter came this past Saturday and we were seated fast, tended to for drinks then food. My server, i did not catch her name, she helped me out with switching around my plate to not make it costly which is appreciated. It's always nice when someone looks out for you. A man immediately said, "No outside drinks allowed," with no greeting, no explanation, and no attempt to offer a solution or even put our name down. The interaction was abrupt and hostile. We stood outside for several minutes waiting to see if anyone would follow up. No one did, so we left. This wasn't about the policy--it was about the attitude. The way we were treated felt dismissive and uncomfortable, and frankly racially charged. We got there when it opened, and there was a large table of old guys who apparently get together to eat breakfast, what I'd call a dog pound, which gathering is always a sign of a good diner. I've been here a few times and really enjoyed the food here. The wait is never too bad and service is pretty attentive. They have a pretty spacious parking lot in the back so that's convenient. We love getting the Farmer's special since it comes with eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and pancakes. We also always order one of their scrambles which we then get with tater tots and their homemade banana bread. The banana bread is sooooo good and you can tell it's freshly made. And the tater tots are always crispy and delicious. Would love if they had real maple syrup for the pancakes but can't complain. Simple seating layout, servers who will keep your coffee cup full at all times and affordable prices make this an appealing stop when you're looking for a solid breakfast. I went with the Italian sausage omelette which tasted great and came out fast. Breakfast potatoes were good but could have used a little more time on the grill. Really appreciated the toast was served already buttered (dry toast is a pet peeve of mine). Coffee was old school diner style but hit the spot.
