I love this tiny coffee shop in the median of an intersection. It's a cute neighborhood spot to pop in for a coffee or a snack. I just get whatever latte or ice coffee drink that I'm feeling that day, and (if I'm lucky), snag a seat at one of the 3 tiny, 2-3 person tables they have. When the weather is nice, sometimes there are 2, 2-seater tables outside.They also have a little counter that I've seen some people stand at to do work. I personally don't find the environment conducive to working, but it's fun to people watch and read a little on a slow day. I also tend to prefer small cozy coffee shops to large ones. The service is friendly, the drinks are pretty average (though they have a few interesting selections and a large variety of tea), and the food is pretty unique. I think the breakfast sandwich is popular (but not a stunner, according to my NYC-breakfast-sandwhich-loving friend). I have also tried the sesame ricotta toast topped with strawberries, coconut flakes, and honey. It's an interesting combination, and I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if it completely worked. Maybe in strawberry season, when the strawberries are a little more naturally sweet, it would make sense. Almond milk is extra and they will remind you like Chipotle employees remind you that guac is extra. read more

Even if it was just a little neighborhood coffee spot with nothing more than their amazing beverage selection and some generic muffins, the charming ambiance, tasty coffee, and friendly service would still probably earn it five stars in my book. But what takes The Richfield above and beyond is their unique and delicious food menu. I was obsessed with the black sesame ricotta toast topped with fresh strawberries and coconut. I've never seen this combo anywhere else but as soon as I spotted it on the menu it was a where-have-you-been-all-my-life type of moment! Though it's teeny with just a few small tables, it's a great addition to this neighborhood and I'm jealous of people who live in the area and can stop by on the regular. What a quaint little spot! Emphasis on little. Although a bit cramped, I love the ambiance of this place. It was a little unexpected, but this place commemorates (fictional/non-fictional) boxing's all-time greatest. Loved the quote painted on the wall and the retro boxing gloves hanging by the cashier. Ok, onto the coffee.. I ordered a latte with almond milk and my boyfriend got a simple iced coffee. Both came out to $9 even. Typical hipster coffee price. Not mad about it all because the quality of their coffee is so worth it! I'm a stickler for strong coffee and I need it in a precise way. I took one sip into my heart-shaped latte and fell in love. It was rich, creamy, velvety, and kicked me with caffeine. Just the way I like it! I happily sipped my cup outside, on a rare sunny day. I will start by writing that I did not have coffee here only the Brekkie Sandwich. The Brekkie was good not great. They used nice ingredients and the toast was soft and buttery. I think it's a stretch as a $7 sandwich. $5 yes. $7 no. This is a small corner spot on 5th and California with 2 outside tables that seat 2 each. It was nice to sit outside this morning. Cute clean interior, fun concept, and nicely curated list of coffee and food. I tried the raved-about brekkie sandwich and thought it was good, not mind-blowing. I did enjoy the sweet, soft Hawaiian bread which kind of reminds of the sweeter white bread that I grew up with in Korea. It comes with bacon, cheese, and a little egg omelet with some kind of sweet/savory sauce combination. I didn't try their coffee but I've routinely frequented Snowbird in the Inner Sunset, which I think is good, if a bit sour. I would come back to try it if I were in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't necessarily seek it out. read more

Ordered: Cold Brew - I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the barista put in coffee ice cubes instead of the #basic water cubes im my cup prior to filling it with that black gold. I was excited to be given that extra ounce of caffiene without my cold brew being dilluted. It was only after a few sips I began to realize that the ice had given my coffee that freezer taste..that old ice taste. Ugh. One of my favorite coffee shops in the city, (and I've been to over 50 in SF). What sets this apart? It sits on a neighborhoody street and the few tables inside make it a cozy atmosphere. The flat white is excellent. Not many places in the city offer one, and it tastes like the ones in New Zealand. (Starbucks offers a flat white, but isn't nearly as good). This is the sister shop to Snowbird over in the inner sunset. And they are definitely sisters, not twins. With the same great commitment to quality, but more light, and outdoor seating, the Richfield is sure to become a neighborhood favorite in no time. We both had cappuccinos, and my husband devoured his Brekkie Sandwich. He said the tangy sauce set it apart, and the substantial, soft, chewy Hawaiian toast was a welcome departure from all the crunchy that's been popular around town lately. To no one's surprise, the cappuccinos were perfect temp, perfect flavor profile, with delightful latte art. Fair Warning: don't come expecting to order a latte with syrup and whip. Cute little coffee shop in the odd wedge building between Cornwall and California at 5th Ave. It's a small space, but they got a surprising amount of cafe tables and chairs in there, along with a couple tables outside. We ordered: a cold brew for me, and an iced mocha for my foo-foo coffee drinker boyfriend. Cold brew was A+! They use coffee ice cubes so while it melts it doesn't water down the beverage. The Richfield is a great local coffee shop with a good amount of outdoor seating to relax at! I've gotten the cold brew ($4.50) a couple of times and it tasted a bit lighter than what I'm used to getting at other places, but it was still smooth and pretty good. Something I super appreciate and love about this place is that they serve their cold brew with coffee ice cubes so your drink doesn't get watered down! It's such a small and easy thing to do, but I've never seen any other place do this before. It really shows that they care about their product and it shows they care about their customers' satisfaction. The couple of times I've been here, the toast has been sold out unfortunately. I usually come later in the afternoon, so I'll be sure to make a visit earlier in the day sometime to try those out! Definitely recommend a visit if you're ever in the area. read more

Love this spot. I, for one, have a thing for establishments with just the right amount of outside seating. Two tables and two benches will do the trick. Check mark for The Richfield. Did not have the pleasure of visiting Snowbird, so I'm coming in with no comparison between the two shops. Overall, the cold brew was excellent. I stand by the theory that the basics must be done correctly for me to pursue other more complex items. It is very smooth, while still having some fragrance. A lot of the flavor still remains, with almost a creamy finish. The coffee ice cubes give it that last little kick. Also appreciated is that the ice cubes last throughout the length of cold brew experience. Even with my cup fully empty, there still stood 4 solid cubes. I didn't have a chance to try any of the food items, but will make it a point on my next visit. And that is a trip I'm very much looking forward to. read more

Although this coffee shop is pretty small, I think it has a lot of character to it. My friend and I were walking around and wanted to grab some coffee before our succulent crafting date and decided to stop by here. The place is pretty tiny, and honestly, I think we almost missed it as we were passing by, but I'm glad the bright blue tables caught my eye!! I ordered a vanilla latte and thought it was pretty strong. I prefer my coffee to have somewhat of a stronger coffee taste, and I thought that they made it very very strong, so I just added a little sugar to my liking; however, the one thing that was missing for me was the vanilla portion! I felt like I just ordered a regular latte, so I was kind of disappointed. Service here was ok. The person who rang me up seemed "meh" so I kept my interaction at a minimal. The place seriously reminds me of a very cute coffee shop in the middle of a city, but it's more on the quiet side in the area and isn't as busy. I literally can imagine myself sitting here just having a cute coffee date or reading a book on a Sunday morning. I see a lot of other people raving about their other coffees though, so next time I will give those a try. read more

The Richfield is by far the cutest, hippest, and (still) the best place to get coffee in the Inner Richmond, even though the drip coffee has admittedly gone down a bit in quality since it became my regular spot six months ago. I grab coffee from them 2-3 times a week, and the staff is always excellent to me, even when the line is long and their small kitchen is humming. Why four stars? Mondays and pastries, basically. It's frustrating to hike my butt over only to realize they are closed, and then hike my butt back to Blue Danube. I've more or less got it committed to memory now, but I still like Richfield better; I want to go there on Mondays too. As for the pasties? They are almost always out by the time I get in. These must be the fanciest, most in-demand pastries ever, because whenever I come knocking for some flaky goodness, I always leave empty handed. Thank god for The Richfield. My weekend mornings would be so much worse without you. Located on a concrete island, and with a small interior, I wouldn't exactly call this cafe a "destination". However, as neighborhood coffee shops go, The Richfield is as good as they get! It seems like most of the customers are regulars, and you'll always find a couple cute dogs tied up outside patiently waiting. It can get a little crowded, but I've never had trouble finding a table. The lattes are amazing and probably my favorite in the city. They have a subtle nutty, roasted taste. The cold brew and regular coffee are great too. I've had the avo toast and the black ricotta sesame toast, and both are very tasty. Honestly, these days you could throw a rock anywhere in SF and hit a place that has avocado toast and fancy coffee. It's harder to find a place with a perfect combination of good food, good coffee, good people, and good vibes. The Richfield doesn't disappoint. read more

Hello new best friend. The Richfield is my new fave destination for Snowbird Coffee, good eats, and friendly service. I've dropped by and eaten in three times so far, with great results. The coffee is nice and strong, and it's a generous pour into the to-go cups (which they give you even if you dine in, because they know it's a better pour!). But the food. Oh, the food. Brekkie sandwich is so boss. Buttered and toasted King's Hawaiian, crisp bacon, melty cheddar cheese, and a perfectly symmetrical omelette with some super secret sauce. Give me all the calories. So delicious and filling, you could (in theory) split it with a friend but let's face it, being uncomfortably full off of that is much preferable. Also had the ricotta toast which is extremely refreshing and bright. The black sesame gives it such an interesting flavor! Haven't tried the other breakfast staples (yogurt and granola, avocado toast), and they're still experimenting with their rotating menu items (pulled pork sandwich, Korean chicken wings), but I will for sure be back on the regular to check out the new eats. They claim to open at 0800, however I went by recently and they were not ready and I was told they open at 0830. I have stopped by on numerous occasions and they never seem to be open. This is definitely a neighborhood spot with very good food and coffee, and a unique Hawaiian influence. Prices are reasonable for the fresh quality of food. It was pretty busy from 9-10am, so we were lucky to grab a seat. There were lots of dogs with their owners around and a unruly child, so it's more lively than peaceful. We had the brekkie sandwich. The house sauce was slightly sweet as was the Hawaiian bread it's on making it unique but still hearty. The black sesame ricotta toast was delicious but very sweet. It certainly acted as breakfast dessert. My friend ordered the avocado toast with a fried egg on top - pretty good. The espresso is strong but not burnt. The drip coffee, sipped by my friend, was just okay, nothing extraordinary. I like the environment, the music, the easy demeanor (but good service) from the staff. Overall, happy with my experience. My first and only visit was a good experience. Tip: they have chargers you can use to juice up your phone while you juice up yourself with coffee.
