Finally a meal that I could call great on the cape. In an area that is so rich in seafood and tourism, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a restaurant that has decent food. In the end you have to pay for it though. The Roadhouse Cafe is not cheap even though the name makes it seem like a hillbilly bar from a Patrick Swayze movie. That couldn't be further from the truth. From the moment you enter the parking lot, with valet parking, you will feel special and well cared for. Our waitress was especially friendly and attentive. The dining room is very dimly lit and the service is drawn out, so make it a date night rather than a quick bite. I ordered the clams casino for an appetizer which was on the small side and nothing incredible but the Seafood Fra Diavolo entree was a good sized portion full of lobster, shrimp, and most notably scallops in a flavorful and spicy marinara sauce. If you do go I highly suggest reservations. We went on a weekday night around 7 or so in the "off season" and the hostess seemed hesitant in giving us a table. read more

Valet service at the restaurant. Very nice ambience inside, although the tables are a bit tight. Waitstaff was courteous. I inquired whether I could have a small version of the gnocchi as a side which I was told they could not do. I ordered the blackened tuna w fruit salsa which was delicious! My husband ordered the cedar plank salmon and said it was excellent. He also had the clam chowder and said it was the best he ever had. We are finishing a wonderful family dinner for 13 family members visiting for the holiday. We came when they opened at 4pm on Sunday and made the best choice! We each had something different with delicious choices like Lobster Ravioli, Scallops, Salmon, Lobster, Chicken Fried chicken, and kids fish and chips and pasta. My bf and I were spending a night in Hyannis and the bartender in the lounge of our hotel recommended this place for dinner. I'm glad he did. I loved it! It's a combination of fancy and casual. Lots of dark wood, small lamps on the tables and cape cod decor on the walls and over the bar. Our waiter, Ryan, was fantastic. Very friendly and personable. Started with the crab cakes app. Incredible. It comes with a mango salsa that just went so great with it. No ordered the stuffed pork chop. Delicious. It was stuffed with mozzarella, spinach and tomato. It came with smashed potatoes and butternut squash. Everything was great. The bf was going to get the lobster ravioli or the short ribs. Our waiter said short ribs all the way and it was a great choice. When I told Ryan I wasn't really a fan of the drink I ordered he sat down next to me and helped me pick out a drink that I'd like. Was there for very busy Memorial day weekend. Only complaint is that it's quite dark for people in their 50s to read menu. If you want the best ravioli ever, go when the short rib ravioli is on the menu. Both wife and I had the chicken parm. Best we've had. It's ok ! For the prices they charge I would hope for some atmosphere not the really bad wallpaper and dimly lit areas (I'm guessing they're dimly lit so you don't notice the ugly wall paper). As a local if I'm going to pay high prices I would appreciate some atmosphere or to be blown away by the food !! The bisque had two decent chunks of lobster the base was pretty salty the wedge ...well honestly I've have had better at a chain. I've been coming to the roadhouse for years and have no idea why I have waited so long to write a review. I had a particularly great experience last night... this restaurant is rambling and is much bigger inside than you think... Yet it still maintains a cozy feel. The hostess last night and in the past three times I've been to the restaurant has been very helpful and accommodating... I'm eagerly impressed with the service and the staff they're very attentive and friendly. I started with nice small back last night, with a dinner salad (which was a little on the small side but tasty nonetheless). And then had the broiled seafood, with broccoli (that was under done... But that's just the way my wife likes it crispy right out of the ground), & A baked potato with all the toppings. Everything was delicious and we finished with some tiramisu and decaf cappuccino's. I enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant the most. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. The service was fast and friendly and it didn't take long to get seated. It had a darkened romantic atmosphere that lent itself well to the dating scene. The food was good. I ordered the Caprese Burger of all things. The fries were nothing to speak of, but the burger was a classic. Fresh mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, and a touch of olive oil. Quite nice! This place only gets 1 star for the piano player and the valet driver. Came here for an anniversary dinner and it started off with them seating us in a place that we didn't make reservations for, ok not a problem. We get moved to next to the piano and the piano player comments "the corner eh? What did you guys do wrong?" A bit weird but ok again. We get our server who was nice. We order the calamari appetizer and it came out luke warm but no complaints. We order fish tacos which are a bit overpriced for two tacos that was a piece of fried fish over shredded cabbage which was supposed to have some sort of lime aoili flavor but was plain and one of the pieces of fish had a huge bone in it which they could have put on the menu but what kind of fish tacos have bones? We ordered the chicken Marsala and beef tips. The chicken Marsala came out with no side and only when we asked did the waitress say "oh I don't have people order this so i don't know what it comes with" why have an extensive menu if your waitstaff doesn't know it. The mashed potatoes came out cold but I don't send food back as I have no idea what happens in the back and I didn't see them making me a new batch. The chicken was dry but the beef tips were good but again luke warm at best. We finish our meal and we see that other people are getting bread that we weren't offered. I didn't know you had to ask for bread when everyone else just got them. The owner was there walking around the restaurant and if you're going to walk around and give hugs and say hello, maybe you should interact with all your guests. Not just the ones that are convenient and to speak with about their hours and how they have to work should maybe be done in the back and not on the floor of the restaurant. I came here Bc a friend recommended this for an anniversary dinner. She was disappointed, the food was disappointing, and the fact that the piano player felt bad for us says all that needs to be said. Wouldn't go back. If you want mediocre food and pay for high end meal come here but there are way better restaurants on the cape that this place is not worth the money. read more

The wait staff is great, atmosphere perfect especially in the winter months with a real fireplace working overtime for atmosphere and warmth! Really cute restaurant but sadly is trying to do too much. The menu takes an hour to read it has so many items that are all over the place from pastas, to seafood, to pizza, to quesadillas to pork to chicken. Everything was average or below average. Short rib was piping hot with little flavor and the pizza had cheese with no flavor and watery tomatoes. Wine was good, but the Moscow mule was not mixed well. We had an overnight in Hyannis to see a show at the Melody Tent on July 9, 2016. Prior to the show we had a great dinner at the Roadhouse, Reservations are highly recommended as the place fills up before a show. I made reservations the week before on my smart phone and was confirmed within minutes, again, if you are planning on dinner here and there is a show at the tent, reservations are a must. We were seated immediately, the hostess was very friendly. Our server Toni was pleasant and outgoing, along with the other wait staff. Water glasses were kept full, and we were provided some nice freshly baked warm bread with an olive oil dipping sauce. Dinner consisted of a salad, which had some house dressing that was tasty. We had the Fish & Chips, lightly battered and fried to a golden brown with steak cut fries. I had the Angus burger cooked medium well with Swiss cheese and steak cut fries. We had 5:00 reservations, kind of early for us, but we wanted to make the 7:30 show at the Melody tent down the road. All in all, great local restaurant, clean facilities, plenty of parking, phenomenal wait staff. Pricing was a bit more than I was used to, but it was well worth the cost. After the show, we walked back to the car from the tent and decided to stop in for a night cap. The bartender and staff on duty were attentive and pleasant. Highly recommended for those looking for what seems to be a Hyannis staple. We'll be back the next time that we are in the area! read more

First, let me say how wonderful their staff are. From the host to the waitress, phenomenal! They were incredible with our kids who are under the age of two. We ordered the lobster ravioli and steak tips with the bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer. They were incredible. Went to dinner tonight at the Roadhouse. We live on the Cape year round and go once or twice a year. Tonight was worst experience we have had at this restaurant. We order a bottle of wine and the hot antipasto appetizer. While solid it was not exceptional. I have never had an oyster Rockefeller with bacon on it like a clam casino. My wife ordered chicken saltimbocca and I ordered the duck dish. My wife's dish had a piece of plastic in her main course. The waitress did replace it but the sauce was missing and the dish should not have been served with a piece of plastic. My duck dish was not seared properly with pieces off raw fat in them. I cut off the raw fat to eat it. When I did question if that was the way it was supposed to be prepared, I was told that is the way they prepare it. It did not seem to me to be a proper preparation of the duck. The best part of the dish was the mashed sweet potatoes. If you want chicken with plastic and raw duck fat this is your place. I will find other places to eat. read more

It was a pretty busy Thursday evening so my friend and I thought we would take a seat at the bar. Our bartender Erica was the BEST. She treated us like family, and it was so refreshing to have such good service as a few places on cape have let me down lately. She told us all about the menu, made great food suggestions, and crafted us up some cocktails that were to die for all while working the bar by herself! The pizza I had was so tasty, cooked to perfection with great flavor. The Roadhouse Mule was a fun twist on a classic favorite. A friend and I had dinner here yesterday. We were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and were promptly seated. The restaurant's interior was nicely decorated and very comfortable. Our waitress introduced herself and was very friendly. I ordered the Caribbean Stew (shrimp and scallops in a rice bed smothered in spices and coconut), along with some raw littlenecks as an appetizer. The waitress promptly delivered 6 littlnecks which were very fresh, clean and tasted great. It was then followed by a fresh green salad with a home made creamy italian dressing which was very good. Excellent food, excellent table service. My father had the haddock special, my mother had the lobster bolognese (raved about it) and I had the steak tips, which were delicious. It's a shame that the female bartender with a chip on her shoulder had to ruin the 5 star rating. We arrived about a half hour premature to our reservation to enjoy a couple of drinks at the bar. It was quite busy, which is perfectly understandable. There were two bartenders, one for each half of the bar seemed to be the organization. After a few minutes of waiting, I observed this bartender scold and mouth off to an older waitress in front of customers and staff, shortly telling her she needs to keep up. This turned out to be our waitress when we sat down, which I will get to later in the review. After over ten minutes of the female bartender not noticing my father attempting to order a round of drinks, cash in hand, I proceeded to step to the side of the bar, which is not typically allowed, I know, but there were parties earning her attention who arrived to the bar area much later than us. We were all growing impatient and not only us noticed how long we were waiting, a kind gentleman had joined us in our crusade to flag her down. After trying to call her attention she opened the bar, pushed by me, cutting me off and saying excuse me sir as I was explaining to her that my father had been waiting over ten minutes for a couple of beers, she responded by saying "We're very busy." Oh thanks for clarifying. I was appalled. Later I brought it up to our waitress. She turned out to had been working there close to 30 years and was as upset as I was. What happened to respecting your elders? We probably will be returning here, the food is great and we've been coming for some time. But that bartender was a poor excuse for one and needs to learn a little bit about respect. read more

We were given a $100 gift card for this place, so we (family of four) went there to try it. Given what I've heard about it, it was pretty disappointing. I had a cup of fish chowder, which was excellent, but the rest of the food was a letdown. Two of us ordered penne with italian sausage, which was tasty but lacked on presentation and didn't justify the upscale price. I had a quesadilla appetizer which according to the menu has jack cheese, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, black beans, corn, and sides of pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream. All I could taste was jack cheese and chicken, and I didn't get any sour cream. Reminded me of taco bell, to be honest. The last dish we got was the chicken saltimbocca, which looked nice but had a really strange flavor. I'll definitely go back for the chowder because I'm a chowder fiend, but that's all I'll get. read more

I've eaten here several times, the food is good most of the time the atmosphere is decent but make sure you ask to sit in the back! They have tables in a small hallway that really don't belong there. Also make sure you ask what the prices are for the specials are if you are going to get one. I had the stuffed lobster with crab and scallops on top..... Now I should of asked but I've been to 100's of restaurants and have ordered specials so I'm thinks in my mind 40-50 bucks....... Well when I ever got the bill and saw it was 75$!!!! In two words: overpriced and overrated This place is highly rated mostly for their clam chowder which indeed was really good. However it is not the kind of place where one person just go for the soup and there is really nothing in the menu for less than 25$ (seafood-ish) unless you are planning to eat an average pizza. The lobster was outrageously expensive (40 to 50$ per pound) so we opted out and got some sesame encrusted tuna and lobster ravioli. I cannot really say if the ravioli were good since they were buried in a heavy cream sauce that was covering the taste. The tuna was not bad but the Asian cold pasta side felt out of a can. The food came out in a very short time. While it is nice not to have to wait a long time i found a bit suspicious that they could prepare the dinner in such short time and in fact none of the dishes seemed prepared with a particular care. If you have the courage to go there eat the soup and leave, go otherwise you will be $100 poorer and looking forward to find a different place the following night to eat a lobster. read more

I went here before catching a show at the Melody tent and was excited to have some nice fresh seafood since we are on the cape. The food was expensive and not good. Didn't eat the salad because of the thick, bottled heavy dressing. The salmon was bland and the quality was not satisfying. The sautéed spinach was even terrible. The Roadhouse Cafe was the one spot where my parents and I were looking forward to once we crossed the bridge to enter Cape Cod. It is everything that you would want in a delicious, expensive meal. The wait staff is quick and polite. The food is delicious and filling. The ambiance is old style with elegance. It's the perfect anniversary/birthday/special occasion dinner place. My parents and I went on a Sunday night, but made reservations for 7:00 thinking that it would be busy, but there was actually no one there that night. I had a bowl of clam chowder, split the lobster quesadilla, split the arugula salad with goat cheese, then a scallop entree with lobster newburg sauce. Everything was delicious as expected. The one item I ordered on a hunch was the lobster quesadilla, which I was not too pleased with. It tasted delicious but there was two different sauces on it, plus guacamole, plus some salsa mixed inside with the lobster. It was good, but not exactly what I was looking forward to. I can't really give such a crazy detailed review of the Roadhouse mainly because it is that good that it doesn't really need one. Just go. Spend the money. Eat the food. Close your eyes when the check comes, sign, give it back, and tip the valet, then make someone else go buy you Four Seas Ice Cream. Everyone will enjoy the night. read more
