We will be adding this to our sandwich rotation. The vortex is an absolutely perfect sandwich. The Dutch crutch bread was fresh and tasty. The service was also top notch. They tossed in some free mac salad. My wife liked it however it was too saucey for me. But my sandwich was the star. For the first time in a long time I didn't have to make any modifications. I ordered it as is. I was very pleased. My only suggestion was if they had oil and vinegar to season the veggies that go on the sandwich I'd be even happier. But all in all I think I prefer this over Ike's now. I will definitely be back. read more

I will say that we wish the meat was hotter just because of the cold veggies, but that's literally the only "knock" on the sandwiches. Service was second to none. Great little sandwich tucked in the back of a small complex. We shared the Italian style on Dutch Crunch bread. Bread was yummy and the sandwich was nicely put together with a fair amount of meat for the price of the sandwich. Very friendly staff serving up great sandwiches. Losing one star for no ice machine. I am very impressed with the quality of the sandwiches in this shop! Their sauces are very tasty and they use premium meats. The staff are friendly and you receive your food really quickly. One major downside is the cost. The first time I went to the spot, my sandwich was overflowing with toppings and meat. The $15 price tag was worth it then! Ever since, my sandwiches have had half the amount of meat and toppings on it so it seems very expensive for what I've been getting. I love this place!!! Actually, I've haven't been there yet, but I ordered delivery for an office meeting and the entire experience was wonderful. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it try. The menu was varied enough to please everyone, and even has gluten free options. I ordered through GrubHub, and then got a call from the shop clarifying the delivery time. I appreciated that they took the time to set a clear expectation. It was also explained that if I preorder on their website the day before, they can arrange to run the order over to my office (I'm not far away) or have it ready for scheduled pick up. This will also save the up charges and fees of a delivery service. Once the order was completed they called again to let me know it was on the way, knowing I was on a timeline. Bottom line, the customer service was spectacular and the food was delicious! Everyone is insisting that we order from here again. read more

My husband and I are so happy that the sandwich spot is in Arizona now! We used to frequent the one in Simi Valley, CA. The staff was so insanely nice and helpful. I literally just went for the first time today, and HAD to come and post my feelings. This place is pure deliciousness. And this is coming from a huge sandwich lover, at the levels of the Joseph Tribbiani. I got the Sun Devil with marinated chicken, pepper jack cheese, hot sauce, and bomb sauce (spicy ranch). I had them add lettuce and onion. The lettuce was even like a spring mix, which is a big step up from the bland, everyday iceberg most shops use. That shows a level of care that you can only find from local spots. And the Dutch crunch bread??? Get outta here! The staff was very friendly and patient (their selection is quite extensive). They have vegetarian options as well. I feel this place doesn't get the love it deserves because it can be hard to miss from the road. Just be prepared when headed east down Glendale Ave that once you pass the Dutch Bros, turn right into the next strip mall and it's all the way at the end on the left. The chicken is advertised to be marinated. Idk what this really means for most folks, but as a POC, seasoning or flavoring means something else, I guess. Chicken tasted blander than I expected. Then the avocado (which comes with the cardinal, I didn't make any specific mods) drew more flavor away the chicken. The size of the entire sandwich was fair, cost is competitive, service was great, but what has me still wanting to eventually come back and try other items on the menu is their friggin bread selections! This place was a recommendation from my neighbor I was in the area so decided to give it try. The owner is great and gave us recommendations on what to try and they have a few tables where you can dine in. Gives off a sports lounge kinda vibe and they only serve bottled drinks and complimentary filtered water. I wish they had some fountain drinks available. Over all the sandwiches were good we ordered Dutch bread which was much harder to bite into than other places I've had dutch bread at. I am a picky/not picky eater. I eat at McDonalds, but I also try new and different things. I don't need to rate McD, unless it's bad. And I love to rate when somethings good. This is one of those something's great! My work got sandwiches for new hire orientation. Even though I wasn't part of that, I did snag a sandwich. It was good. I then looked over their menu and was pretty blown away. This is not your Subway or Jimmy John's. This is much more. But I have to tell you why I am picky about sandwich places. Where I come from, Columbia, MO, there is a local sandwich place called North Village Sub Shop (and I believe there are 3 of them now) that has been in business sine 1975, feeding the locals of Columbia, MO and the college students of the University of Missouri-Columbia (Go Mizzou!). They bake their own bread and have great combinations of sandwiches. Its been 30+ years since I was a student an UMC, but even today I remember their phone number. I compare all other sandwich/sub shops to it. No one has even come close. Until now. The following day, the owner of The Sandwich Spot stopped by to pickup a few things and we started talking. Anyway, I had thought about stopping by and getting a sandwich sometime, but after talking with him, I decided to do that after work. I got The Octillo, as it is their vegetarian. And had them extra cheese and bacon. I had made the comment that one of the orders I would do at North Village was to order a vegetarian with bacon. Because you got all the veggies, cheese and bacon. I also ordered their Rockin Reuben. Excellent! Excellent! Another thing is that they make their own sauces; Secret Sauce, Bomb Sauce and Psycho Sauce. ALL are good. Another great thing is that they sell Arizona Lemonade. A great combo. I told them I am going to try one of all their sandwiches. They currently have 27 different sandwiches. Since I was finally in the area during their business hours, I stopped to check it out. While it wasn't packed during the lunch time, there was a couple of ladies that were placing an order for several sandwiches, but that didn't stop the team from getting people through and their orders. The lady that took my order was very friendly, courteous & professional. I opted to try the Grand Canyon on their Dutch Crunch bread with everything. By the time I got home the bread held up nicely and everything appeared and tasted fresh. The bread was soft on the inside and the out crunch top added a nice texture contrast.
