IMHO flavors are wayyyy better than Boiling Crab. I believe that the garlic purée they use is better than whole clove. You definitely get vibes of Boiling crab in terms of decoration, but it feels more homey for some reason. With a party of 3, we shared a fried calamari basket and the big combo, and we were pretty satisfied without feeling too full. Everything was a hit and i will definitely be back for more. Only problem is parking. This is going to test your patiences. They have a small lot and parking on the street can be atrocious, but don't let that dictate how you judge the taste and service.

Last Saturday, my husband and I went to see a friend in a Stand Up in Thsi Town. We had 40 minutes to eat. We found this place close to the theater. We thought how is cool the vibe of restaurant, shrimp lovers as well. The service was fast , great and friendly service, and the food was delicious! The fries were amazing! The portion is good for two and cheap! They have thsi plates as well. Go to have fun with friends!

Best bang for your buck! We got 1lb of shrimp which comes with potatoes, added corn and sausage for around $25. Service was great and food came out fast. There's only a small parking lot in front, so most likely you may have to find street parking.

Really good service and food ! This was my first time here and loved it! The macaroon ice cream is a must too!

This place was absolutely amazing and everything was also at a reasonable price as well! The ambiance/aesthetic was very cute; the place was a bit small but cozy yet had spacious outside seating. It gave the appearance of a bar and a restaurant. My friend and I went there for Galentine's Day and had such a time! Our waiter was very kind and informative about our food options as well! We both got the bucket with some appetizers and sides! Don't forget to grab some of the frozen macarons on your way out; they're the PERFECT munchie snacks for when you're stuck in traffic!

2/5 - Good food, but the worst service, missing food, and an insane wait (1hr+) The food at The Shrimp Lover was alright, but the service made the whole experience frustrating and not worth it. Our server was a lady with a short/buzz hair cut. We ordered BBQ ribs, a pound of shrimp, mussels, crab legs, crawfish, pad see-ew, and a kids meal. A few minutes later, the server came back and told us they didn't have ribs. Just to make sure we asked a different server just to check again, and she said they did have ribs. After 15 minutes, only the ribs came. We thought the rest was on the way, but after waiting another 30 minutes, still nothing. We asked, and the server said she wrote it down but forgot to tell the cook half of the meal, Seriously? 15 minutes later the kids meal finally came, and then 10 minutes after that the rest of the food showed up, except the mussels. We asked again, and the server laughed and said she forgot to tell the cook, again. To make it worse, they charged $35 for tip and tax. Overall, the food was good, but the long wait and bad service made this a really bad experience. We won't be coming back.

This is a must-try if you love Boiling Crab and Thai food!! It's the combination I didn't know I needed. Truly flavorful "Medley" sauce with Thai flair. The Cajun Fries are SO GOOD - crispy and fresh! However I would not order the Drunken Noodles again - very dry and bland. I poured the Medley sauce from the shrimp over it, which made it better so I'll keep the 5 stars lol. Place is cute with cozy outdoor seating, string lights, customer graffiti, and fisherman decor. Service was great - very friendly and fast service. We came on a Tuesday night and I recommend coming on a weekday because I can imagine it being packed on a weekend! Will definitely be back!

Shrimp Lover is such a solid spot for seafood lovers! I've had so many dinners here and it never disappoints. The boils are always on point--great flavor and amazing portions. One of my absolute favorites is the garlic pasta with shrimp (add on) so rich and satisfying. And that chili sauce they serve with it? Out of this world. Spicy, tangy, and totally addictive. Definitely one of my go-to places when I'm craving seafood done right.

Service is excellent here and I recommend dining in for optimal dining experience. However, all my leftovers were still fire, as well. I would recommend getting all of these dishes: *~Green Curry Dumpling ($12) - This may be a sleeper hit but the green curry surrounding the steamed veggie dumplings is a nice level of spicy and just makes my mouth watering thinking about this appetizer. *~Crispy Duck Rolls ($14) - They're fresh & feel so refreshing to eat with a few pieces of roasted duck inside and their fresh Thai slaw with some hoisin sauce, all wrapped in rice paper and lettuce, of course. I'm obsessed with this appetizer, as well! *~Pad Thai Meltdown ($22) - This is the most fun spin on pad thai of all time! I'm a basic girl and goodness do I love pad thai. Well their recipe is absolutely delicious ~ but this dish has melted cheese on top, as well! It's not as weird as it sounds, it's actually amazing just making the dish taste more creamy, not really cheesy tasting. My only disappoint was they are supposed to grate & melt the cheese tableside and that didn't happen. I went on a busy lunch though so I'm assuming that's why we didn't get the tableside show! Maybe next time! *~Chef Katt's Special Fried Rice ($18) - If you're going to get a fried rice, this classic Thai one may be the one to get with sweet Thai sausage slices and bacon pieces throughout. Loved this fried rice! Honestly, this was the best Thai food I've had in ages! They are adding little spins on dishes to make them fresh and new, and most importantly - delicious! I'll be back soon!

The location is next to a motel but there is plenty of street parking.

The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and you can taste how fresh everything is. That kind of experience says a lot. Not. One. Thing. Has ever disappointed here. The crispy rice salad is unlike anything else--beautifully balanced, like a tightrope walk of flavors on your tongue. They also sell their proprietary fish sauce--get it. The restaurant is small, so there can be a wait. But there re tables inside and outside, with some bar seating. The dishes run about $25-$35 a plate. The menu does change and is updated frequently. Two drinks, two appetizers, three entrees was about $200. The panang curry was sooo tasty, but the pork jowl was chewy. Maybe needed a bit more pressure cooking, but the sauce was so tasty. Pad kee mao was very tasty. This was the group's favorite entree. The added cost for the beef makes sense; it did make it about a $30 dish. The flavor and heat of the noodles were lovely. The beef was very tasty and tender. The snack/appetizers were both tasty. Very true to name, with bite size. The sauces were so well done with sour, salty, sweet combination.

This place is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and that's why it's so disheartening to write this…read morereview. I have written at least 2 glowing reviews of the restaurant in the past and wish this could be one of them, but it's not. Over the last 4-5 days I have tried no less than 2 dozen times to call the restaurant during proper business hours to order food for pick-up as I often do. The phone rang and rang to no avail. I live too far from the restaurant to just pop up and place an order so I rely on calling ahead. I have been a customer of this restaurant for at least the last 9 years and have almost never had the aforementioned experience. Though I do recall not being able to get a call through several times on one or two occasions in the relatively distant past. Today I was finally able to get a call through and began placing my order which includes shrimp. I ALWAYS request the tail (with shells) to be removed from the shrimp as I find it quite difficult to enjoy my meal if I'm constantly having to pick off shells with my hands. It's unsanitary and messy. Removing the tails from 15-20 shrimp prior to adding to an entree or soup should take no more than 60 seconds and that's if one is moving at a glacial pace. However, today I was told that the kitchen was too busy to honor my request. I assured the lady taking my order than I was a loyal customer and make this request will every order I place and it is always honored. She repeated her claim that the kitchen was too busy and refused to do it. I cancelled my order and ended the call. Now I usually order food from the restaurant 4-5 times a month and usually spend about $65 each time not including tip. That is approximately $325 per month of my hard earned money that I give to this restaurant in exchange for great food and service. I am appalled and quite upset that having been a loyal customer for almost a decade and spending as much money there as I do per month that they could at least honor my patronage by simply taking an additional 60 seconds in the kitchen to make my meal more enjoyable. Her refusal to do such a minuscule task has deeply soured my experience with Hoy-Ka not to mention the fact that I could not reach the restaurant for almost a week by phone for no apparent reason. I will not be going back to this restaurant until they rectify this situation.
