    The "big combo"
    Rebecca K.

I have frequented "the shrimp lover" in redondo beach for years. Came across this location on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. The parking is atrocious but definitely worth it! I ordered the "big combo" corn potatoes sausage lots of crawfish, mussels, shrimp and clams with a king crab leg and a snow crab cluster! All for $70 the king crab leg was so perfectly cooked the meat came out so easily and clean! My waitress PAM was the best and very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back

honestly I always choose this over boiling crab. Shrimp lover is the bestttt I come here over and overr I might even become a shrimp the best place ever

IMHO flavors are wayyyy better than Boiling Crab. I believe that the garlic purée they use is better than whole clove. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You definitely get vibes of Boiling crab in terms of decoration, but it feels more homey for some reason.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] With a party of 3, we shared a fried calamari basket and the big combo, and we were pretty satisfied without feeling too full. Everything was a hit and i will definitely be back for more. Only problem is parking. This is going to test your patiences. They have a small lot and parking on the street can be atrocious, but don't let that dictate how you judge the taste and service.

Last Saturday, my husband and I went to see a friend in a Stand Up in Thsi Town. We had 40 minutes to eat. We found this place close to the theater. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We thought how is cool the vibe of restaurant, shrimp lovers as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fast , great and friendly service, and the food was delicious! The fries were amazing! The portion is good for two and cheap! They have thsi plates as well. Go to have fun with friends!

Best bang for your buck! We got 1lb of shrimp which comes with potatoes, added corn and sausage for around $25. Service was great and food came out fast. There's only a small parking lot in front, so most likely you may have to find street parking.

This place was absolutely amazing and everything was also at a reasonable price as well! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance/aesthetic was very cute; the place was a bit small but cozy yet had spacious outside seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It gave the appearance of a bar and a restaurant. My friend and I went there for Galentine's Day and had such a time! Our waiter was very kind and informative about our food options as well! We both got the bucket with some appetizers and sides! Don't forget to grab some of the frozen macarons on your way out; they're the PERFECT munchie snacks for when you're stuck in traffic!

This is a must-try if you love Boiling Crab and Thai food!! It's the combination I didn't know I needed. Truly flavorful "Medley" sauce with Thai flair. The Cajun Fries are SO GOOD - crispy and fresh! However I would not order the Drunken Noodles again - very dry and bland. I poured the Medley sauce from the shrimp over it, which made it better so I'll keep the 5 stars lol. Place is cute with cozy outdoor seating, string lights, customer graffiti, and fisherman decor. Service was great - very friendly and fast service. We came on a Tuesday night and I recommend coming on a weekday because I can imagine it being packed on a weekend! Will definitely be back!

    BBQ Ribs, Cajun Fries

2/5 - Good food, but the worst service, missing food, and an insane wait (1hr+) The food at The Shrimp Lover was alright, but the service made the whole experience frustrating and not worth it. Our server was a lady with a short/buzz hair cut. We ordered BBQ ribs, a pound of shrimp, mussels, crab legs, crawfish, pad see-ew, and a kids meal. A few minutes later, the server came back and told us they didn't have ribs. Just to make sure we asked a different server just to check again, and she said they did have ribs. After 15 minutes, only the ribs came. We thought the rest was on the way, but after waiting another 30 minutes, still nothing. We asked, and the server said she wrote it down but forgot to tell the cook half of the meal, Seriously? 15 minutes later the kids meal finally came, and then 10 minutes after that the rest of the food showed up, except the mussels. We asked again, and the server laughed and said she forgot to tell the cook, again. To make it worse, they charged $35 for tip and tax. Overall, the food was good, but the long wait and bad service made this a really bad experience. We won't be coming back.

Each combo came with a corn, potato, rice, and broccoli. We chose the Cajun garlic butter flavor and honestly, the seasoning was spot on. It was garlicky, buttery, and packed with flavor. Definitely the highlight of the meal. That said, one thing that was a bit of a dealbreaker for me was there's no restroom or at least even a sink available to wash your hands. With a seafood boil, you're guaranteed to get messy while peeling shrimp and while they do provide gloves, they rip really easily. I had to keep switching gloves which kind of took away from the experience. Customer service was just okay, nothing bad but nothing super memorable either. Parking is also limited since it's a small strip mall so just something to keep in mind if you're coming during busy hours. Overall, the flavor and food were solid but the lack of a sink made it a little inconvenient.

Keep in mind the restaurant is small so if you want to eat inside and not on the front patio, you might have to be patient to wait for a party to finish up since there aren't many tables inside. We happened to catch a table right when some people were leaving so we didn't have to wait long for them to clean the table and sit us. After we ordered, we weren't waiting forever for our food and the two ladies that were working front of the house were doing everything from packing Togo orders to serving food.
