I've updated my star count based on my experience there the night following NYE. It was a little busy there but drinks were good and service cool. I probably should put more stars because the classic cocktails there were great. The problem was the service and bad drinks later in the evening. Not the bartender 's fault though unless she partly owns it. I was there on new year's eve and the place was jammed pack, probably beyond the allowed limit, and there was one bartender. She had some help but they weren't doing much to help. One guy was only doing beer and the other guy was stuck at one end and I'm not sure he was doing cocktails either. It was about 30 minute wait for a drink. Then at the end of the night my Russian mules tasted like they had no vodka and it was all ginger. He was patient with us, explaining different types of drinks and their specials. He would even let us have a sip of their drink of the day, or an unknown liquor (like Sailor Jerry) just so that we know what flavors would be entering our drinks. In an area teeming with dive bars, The Stache holds its own. They have beer and cocktails but I suggest sticking with the cocktails. Our Moscow Mules were quite tasty while the beer selection isn't the most impressive. If you like standard beers you will be fine though! Our friends were enjoying tall cans of Modelo all night. There is one pool table that is on the cramped side so you'll probably be asking people to move all night so that you can make your shot. On the weekends there is a DJ playing some good jams. The stache is my favorite bar in long beach. The fact that juice drinks are made with real juice, freshly squeezed. That is a plus. Except pineapple. .:( . The taste of a drink changes dramatically when made with fresh juice. Big difference from a processed canned juice. I have fun when I come here and the people around me have a good time as well. what a delish cheese burger and maybe the best onion rings ! Let's start with the onion rings - very lightly battered, freshly made - super tasty and not too heavy or "bready" if thats a word - nor greasy. They were yummy. The burger meat was excellent and i got the mushrooms. OMG yummy. Seating is a tricky / bit hard as I'm a "heavier" (ahem) guy and the benches (picnic tables actaully inside) are set for skinny people (hint) so I had to take out. He had a boiler maker which gave you the choice of a shot of Jim or James with PBR or some other beer @ $9 - Not a bad deal for a shot and a pint! The bartenders were very friendly and attentive. The only negative was the music. We were having a good time until the DJ started playing jazz which was mostly ok until the ear piercing trumpet blasts. Parking as always is a pain in Long Beach but I love going here on Sunday nights. The bartenders are super chill, especially, Stache man Mike. He makes awesome delicious drinks, he also sings great! Yeah there's karaoke Sunday nights with KJ Jason, the Dr Pepper of Karaoke in Long Beach. I love the crowd, there's a lot of room, pool table, TVs, restrooms, and a lot of really interactive chill people. There's even a delicious taco spot right next door if you get hungry and a McDonald's across the street! During other nights when its just the juke playing, there's a dance area even though here at this place, people take delight in dancing anywhere which is pretty bad a*&. Everyone's so friendly sometimes everyone's just buying each other rounds of shots or drinks. Pretty awesome, mellow, interactive crowd. So this is a great place to go for crowds or alone. read more

It used to be a great underground bar scene with joy division on the turntables. They renovated alright. But to the bartender that serves me a horrible drink. I literally gave him my cc and he turned his back to run the card just to walk up and down the bar looking for me which I haven't moved. He spots me after I was watching him making a fool. This is my new favorite LB bar! It's a small, local joint. I've been here a few times and everytime I've enjoyed wonderful company, great drinks, and exceptional service. The classics: Old Fashioned, Manhattan are nice and stiff. Moscow Mule is good too and Primm's Cooler is very refreshing. I also tried their blackberry whiskey, goes down smooth. This was definitely a bar filled with good vibes , we had about a group of 10-15 people in there the staff was amazing and friendly and so was the crowd inside. They were playing old school hip-hop which everyone in our group enjoyed. You just walked into the Stache on 4th Street and you're about to get hooked up with a well whiskey drink for $2.50, (that leaves you with some tip money, sucka!), from a friendly bartender who will let you sample some of their delicious ginger beer they use to make their rocking Moscow Mules. After you get your drink, you notice how mellow it is at this hole-in-the-wall compared to the other romp fests located on 4th street. Please, please do yourself a favor and try the Kentucky breakfast! It has homemade bacon infused bourbon... Yes that's right, bacon infused bourbon and egg whites to add a little foamy topping. I'm not going to lie this place looks a bit dodgy from the outside but has all the fancy drinks to give a perfect 5 stars. All the ingredients from my drinks were most definitely homemade including the Kentucky breakfast bourbon. They have lots of tvs to show whatever you came there to watch. They have a pool table for 1$ and plenty of board games as well. Very friendly and informative bar tenders who make the experience top notch. Came here for my 25th birthday a couple of months ago. Tired of the same old second street and crowded college bars I go to yelp in hopes of a nice chill bar, and i come across The Stache. Pictures look cool and reviews are on point so 2 of my friends and I decide to go check it out. Parking is on the street so it takes a few tries to find one seeing how its a Saturday night and all. We don't mind the walk. Gotta admit the walk there is a bit sketchy but nothing can stop me in search of quality drinks and beer. To my surprise thats exactly what i find. The bar is small and dive-y...mix in the crowd from older to a bit younger, still very cool atmosphere.. We are lucky enough to find 3 empty stools at the bar right after walking in...we order a few drinks an service to my surprise was quick and professional.. i really wish i remembered the name of our bartender because he was super chill, fast, entertaining and very good at what he does. He had a good eye at seeing who was at the bar before the next person so everyone was getting served and asked what they wanted in an orderly fashion I ordered the irish mule, my friends ordered something girly that tasted pretty good idk lol I then went with an old fashioned which i must say was pretty Amazing anddd to end the night my friends asked for something that would get me pretty messed up for my last shot and the bartender just looks at me and smiles cuz he knows exactly what hes gonna give me... adds a total of about 7 different liquors not including all the other mixers and stuff im thinking its gonna taste disgusting and to my surprise it was delicious! Wow, I thought I had already reviewed The Stache! We've been coming here for years now. It was our second favorite bar in Long Beach. Red Room was our very most favorite. That is, until Blake left Red Room and the geniuses at The Stache were smart enough to hire him. Good move! Now the Stache is our favorite watering hole. Blake is the kind of bartender I love: he makes amazing cocktails, he will remember you when you come back, and he's generally just fun to hang out and shoot the shit with. Actually, everyone at the Stache is great. They have a constantly rotating beer selection, at least one choice of a cider if you hate beer, a killer bourbon and rye selection, and the yummiest cocktails in town at a really fair price. After finishing our rendezvous on 2nd street we had a night-cap at Stache. As a first timer there, I instantly loved the vibe of this dive bar. It is a small place but very lively and fun. Not sure if their pool table is a functional one, however; they had board games on it and it was pretty fun. What's not to like: drink, play board games with strangers--- getting drunk while playing board games with strangers -GREAT way to make friends that way. The service of the bartenders is quick. Even though they have a full house, they seem to bartend pretty quickly and well! The one drink that became my FAVORITE was the "Bus Driver." Not sure if that is their occasional special drink or what not but it was pretty tasty. Don't remember the exact ingredients but I do recall that it had vodka and champagne with some bitters... it was refreshing and delicious. First impressions mean a lot to me, and bars are no exception. The Stache had everything going for it from my first encounter with the bouncer to the dismay of us leaving its comforts in search of a new bar, only to find nothing that matched the allure of the Stache. After noticing an awesome Deadpool pin on the bouncer, he actually chatted with us and smiled, shattering the bouncer habit of giving you suspicious glares when you mutter the words "hello." A very minor thing really, but something that definitely set the right tone for the place. Guess what? I also loved the vibe inside. The bar is well-lit, decently noisy but not loud enough to require yelling. The DJ was playing an awesome mix of old school, upbeat songs ranging from early 90's R&B, 80's music and Frank Sinatra. Eclectic but awesome. Speaking of eclectic, there was a diverse mix of age groups and styles present, which really added to the inviting atmosphere. The bartenders were super friendly and made some strong drinks. The bar even has three to four televisions set up showing sports, but there was truly enough going on that I was distracted away from the TV's (although I didn't realize the board games were behind the bar - D'oh!). Definitely loved seeing an LA Galaxy scarf adorning one of their walls though! It's a testament to The Stache that leaving the bar to hop to a different one was my biggest regret of the night, for no other watering hole captivated me as much as The Stache that night. read more

They're amazing and I like being comfortable. Regardless of service Brian, Louis, and Kenneth always have given me amazing service, and beyond amazing drinks. That being said, their bartender Mike, lord knows I don't know why he has had a job there for so long. He has messed up EVERY single drink I've ever ordered, I mean spice in sweet drinks, rum in a whiskey ginger, 2 to 3 inches of foam in a beer pour. From what I've seen over my years is that Mike is a pompous asshole, he pretends to do work while the rest of his coworkers keep up with everyone else. They hold the bar together while Mike sings karaoke, talks to people, and fucks up drinks. I tried this place out on a recommendation and was really glad I did. 1) Their moscow mule is the best I've had, and they take their old fashion pretty seriously. 2) The music selection is great, not simply top 40 like other places. 3) It's nondescript. If you aren't looking for it, you'll walk right passed it, so keep an eye out. 4) The owner is really rad. can I give a bar 1000 stars, because I would for the Stache! First of all, the lady working behind that bar on the Friday we stopped by to check it out was so great!! She was sooo friendly and kept making some delicious drinks (thanks for the hangover!) The drinks, oh my god the drinks! So good! I started with the vodka Mule and fell inlove instantly. It was soooooo very good. I haven't stopped telling people about it! The old fashion will put hair on any lady's chest. It is STRONG, but delicious. I felt very Mad Men-ish. I have lived around the corner of this boozery for years and have never rolled in. From outside, looks like a turd of a place..... Finally visited this diamond in the rough on St. Patty's day and glad I did. This is my new rallying point for nights out and local bar hops. Bar tenders super friendly and cool. At this point they just have beer and wine but recently got approved for a hard liquor license which is coming soon. I didn't really care, I like the place with just sudsy stuff. Blue Moon and High Life on tap, enough said. The place is actually really nice inside and clean. Pool table in the corner and 3 wide screen TV's with cable and an expert Jute Box. We were watching Trainspotting while listening to Frank Sinatra sippen on booze with glorious drunkenness approaching.
