The service here was amazing. The waiter was the kindest waiter I have ever had, he made sure the experience was personal and was accommodating to everything we needed. The inside of the restroom is very nice. There is beautiful decor and a low lighting, nice vibe. The food is where this place lost their starts for me. Everything my partner and I had was so bland. Nothing we ordered seemed like it had been seasoned with anything, not even salt. When as establishment is charging $36+ for a single meal, I personally except the flavors to be amazing. Sub Standard this trip in. Do not sit in the back room on the right side. It was 80° in there. When we complained we were told it was set to 60 something and nothing could be done. The whole room was fanning themselves. The water on our table was lukewarm. However, using the restroom on the other side the temperature was 73°. Much more comfortable for dining. The food took an hour to get to our table and the drinks were very very slow to arrive. Food was good when it got there. But hard to enjoy in a sweltering room. Perhaps time to get a professional to look at your AC system. Or offer something to the guests who had to enjoy their dinner while sweating. read more

Wow! Everything about this restaurant was amazing. It's a scratch kitchen and everything was customizable and swappable. Starting with the service, everyone who works there is kind and knowledgeable. Everyone is helping everyone and they were friendly and one of the best waitstaffs I have encountered in a long time. I would go back for the dining experience alone as everyone we interacted with was truly phenomenal. The ambiance in there was nice. It's a smaller restaurant and not too loud especially if you're in one of the booths by the bar. The food was phenomenal! All the other people I was with not only devoured their meals but wouldn't stop talking about how delicious they were. To me, my meal was just okay because of the grits, but that has more to do with me than the restaurant because I ordered something I was unsure about to try something new. Everything was ordinary except the dressing on the bit of salad served with the schnitzel. The reviews described a much better experience and there were no empty seats. My wife and I stopped in early evening on Tuesday for dinner. We based our decision on Yelp. We normally would like to go to Capital Grille aa Fleming's; however, in the Toledo area. I must say that the standard restaurant holds its own that company! Ambience was lovely. We chose to sit at the bar. Carla and Emma, where are bartenders/servers. Their personal and professional service was one of the highlights of our visit. To open, we ordered adult beverages, Manhattan for me and glass of Vino for my wife. The Manhattan was perfect! For a starter, we shared the Burrata and Pears appetizer. The flavors were perfectly pan were delicious appetizer. I decided to order their small filet Oscar style while my wife ordered their pork chop. Both dishes were amazingly delicious! I ordered a side of sautéed garlic rapini to go with my steak. It was the perfect vegetable to offset the steak! To top everything off, we decided on their blueberry lemon cheesecake. That dessert was superb! We went to The Standard for a little date night. First, I'm glad we made a reservation. The place was packed. When I say packed, I mean packed. A little too tight for a date night. The tables were so close we felt like we were there with the people the next table over. With that being said, the rest of the dinner was well above standard (hehe..see what I did there.) The service was impeccable from the moment we walked through the door. After we were seated by a very nice young lady, our server came over. I cannot say enough about our server. He was attentive, polite, prompt, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I wish I could remember his name because I would absolutely recommend him (for some reason, I'm thinking Jake, but I'm not 100% on that.) On to the food and drink. My husband and I each ordered a specialty drink and both were good. We tried carpaccio, for the first time, and it was delicious. My husband ordered a steak with a side of asparagus and I ordered the miso glazed sea bass which came with spinach and mashed potatoes. Both meals were cooked to perfection. The steak was perfect, the sea bass was perfect, and so were all the sides. The asparagus was a perfect al dente, the mashed potatoes were silky smooth. For dessert, we ordered crème brûlée. Oh my heavens, was it good?! It did not come in the typical ramekin. It came in a bowl, so it's definitely a shareable and well worth the extra calories. Overall, the experience was such that we would definitely return. We might have a go at a high top in the bar area, though. It didn't seem quite as crowded. read more

The menu was not to my liking.For one thing no burgers.no appetizers that sounded good.So my wife got the salmon,which I dont ever order,but i took a bite of hers.Tasted very good.I ordered the beef rib which i think cost 32 dollars.I know alot about meat.To me it tasted like a chuck roast or potroast with bbq sauce..plus had alot of fat.couldnt really see the so called rib because of all the spicy onion straws on it.the drinks were ok but the price of the steaks are way too much.44 dollars for a 6 oz filet.77 dollars for a 10 oz.90 dollars for a cowboy ribeye are you kidding me?i can buy a 3 lb tenderloin for about 75 bucks and feed 8 people.and this is choice tenderloin from zavotskis.then lets go to the desserts.no cheesecake,no cake at all.so overall it is just way too pricey for me.maybe offer some gourmet burgers and wings and onion rings then i might revisit. read more

Made reservations for my husband's 40th birthday and have heard great things floating about town about this new place. Love that you can make reservations easily online and I highly recommend doing so, especially if going during a popular time like we did on a Friday evening. Place was hoppin'! Excellent service from being greeted when we walked in throughout the entire time we were there. Our waitress and all other staff were routinely checking on our table to see if we needed anything and asking about clearing dishes. Started with the pan fried feta appetizer which was excellent. My husband and I each ordered a caeser side salad (his with anchovies, mine without) but sadly those fell flat. Lack of flavor in the dressing and mine had some notably old/discolored lettuce in it. Large size but not worth $12 for taste. Husband had the swordfish which he said was fabulous and I had the braised short rib bowl which while looked nice, taste was just "meh." Short rib was cooked perfectly but overall there was minimal Asian flavors or optimal spice(s) to claim this as an international type dish. Also, love aioli but it was a little excessive the amount that was on it. Not pictured was a sticky toffee pudding dessert which was good, but more of a cake than a pudding. Served ala mode with a scoop of ice cream on top which was probably as good as the cake. Cake was a bit overdone but had decent flavor. In one of the pictures is the smoked martini which was excellent but my husband also had another craft cocktail, their take on the margarita which he said wasn't anything near spectacular. Ambiance was a 10/10 as was service but food was either excellent or fell short. Would give the food a 3.5-3.75/5. Despite that, I'd go back and certainly try some of the other fabulous looking menu items given the great service, atmosphere, convenience of reservations, and ample parking. read more

Customer service is AH-MAZING! My first time dining at The Standard was very pleasant. I was well greeted & welcomed upon entering the restaurant. I dined solo at the bar. The bartender made a custom strawberry martini that was delicious. They were so good I ordered two more. I had the steak bites for an appetizer & lamb chops for the entree. Honestly, I was underwhelmed with the appetizer. The steak bites sat on small pieces of buttered focaccia bread and that was the best part of the dish. The lamb was good! I'd definitely go back and try a different dish. I didn't catch my bartenders name but he was the bestest! I'd go back just because of the customer service! read more

We froze. We sat within view of the digital thermostat. It displayed 66°. The (almost) Wagyu tenderloin was tender and tasty but so much salt! The French fries were perfect, soft on the inside, crispy on the outside. The lemon cheesecake was outstanding. There are other dishes that I would like to try including the gochujang short ribs and the sticky toffee pudding. I'll go back but it will be on a scorching summer evening. read more

Everything here was amazing. I ordered the swordfish with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and every single bite was too die for. I will definitely be back to have that dish again. The feta appetizer was also wonderful. The French onion soup was delicious...and piping hot, I actually burned my tongue. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place since it opened, being longtime fans of Benchmark. We came for our 3rd wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! I made a reservation which I would recommend due to the somewhat small space. We were given an anniversary card signed by the staff, how special! Our server, Kelci, was super kind and friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. She offered a champagne toast but being that I don't drink she offered to buy us dessert instead. For drinks I asked for a smoky mocktail, the bartenders made me a twist on a dirty smoked gin martini with alcohol-free spirits, it was delicious! We started with the garlic bread with bleu cheese sauce, out-of-this-world. For my entrée I chose the braised short rib with polenta, perfectly tender, flavorful, but not overly seasoned. We were then treated to sticky toffee pudding for dessert on the house, a bit burnt on the bottom but overall a great treat! Being an LGBTQ+ couple, it brings us joy when an establishment goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome and celebrated, and I truly felt special. Bravo! read more

My wife and I have been here 3 times now since they opened. Every time it has been a fantastic experience. I've had the 10oz filet twice and each time it was perfect.
