Great Steaks & Seafood We were a party of 8 that went there for dinner. We were expecting a long wait when we saw all the cars in the parking lot. However, that was not the case as we were seated within 20 minutes. We were seated on the third floor so there were a lot of stairs. Food was great and our server B ethany was wonderful.The only complaint I would have is that we were the third couple when the restaurant opened and was taken to a table in the corner for two against the wall with no view or ambience, when there were plenty of other tables available. On our fourth summer in the OOB area and we've had good luck with The Steakhouse in the past, so we decided to go for our 20th anniversary. Not a good experience and it's not likely we'll be back. First the high points - my wife ordered Chicken Parmesan and it was great. The beer was cold and my wife's Mai Tai was very good. Both servers were very personable. Unfortunately the low points far outweigh the high points. We got there when they opened at 4 PM and joined the long line that we expected. But because it's Maine and iT's lEgal, half the people in line smelled like skunk. I'm not talking a slight smell, I'm talking Cheech and Chong fill the car with smoke and marinate in it strong. Then we made the mistake of taking them up on their offer to eat in the new bar. It has all the atmosphere of eating in someone's garage. They appeared to have two servers that also doubled as bartenders for the entire area, so although the service was thorough, it wasn't very quick. Oh well, we were there to enjoy our anniversary together anyway so we just enjoyed the garage atmosphere a little longer. Then I ordered the rib eye, medium well. I do this because many "steakhouses" cook to one degree less thinking they can always throw it back on the broiler if the guest doesn't like it. Also typically, they grab the thinnest steak they have because it doesn't take as long to get to medium well. So that's what I was prepared for. What I got was a 2" thick lump of almost room temperature meat, amazing since they claim to use high temp broilers. It was medium rare from edge to edge, I don't even know how you accomplish this unless you bake it in an oven. I don't know what this tough piece of meat was but I don't believe it was a rib eye. There was no cap, that super tender section around the outside edge. In all seriousness, if I owned a steakhouse I'd be embarrassed to serve this to someone. I could've bought a beautiful, prime rib eye at Market Basket, cooked it correctly myself, and enjoyed it in a better atmosphere in my own home for half the price. Worst $31.99 I've ever spent in my life. And I really don't like restaurants that print suggested tips on the receipt and calculate it AFTER tax. No one should be tipping on the tax. Our experience was quite simply, very poor. After waiting over an hour (not honestly crazy given a Saturday night) we were seated and ordered apps, my wife who has a severe mushroom allergy was served marinara sauce with mushrooms in it, thankfully though she ate this sauce she didn't ingest any actual mushroom or the outcome could have been far worse. When ordering dinner she informed the waitstaff of her severe mushroom allergy, and then was allowed to order yet another item featuring the marinara sauce. Thankfully she methodically checked her food and found out before eating them. The waitress to her credit was amazingly apologetic and removed the item from our bill. This, however, does not excuse a mistake that could have proven deadly. Far less importantly, my meal was the ribeye and it was frankly terrible, for a restaurant named "The Steakhouse" to serve a poorly cooked, un-rendered, chewy, unseasoned steak is not a great look. My final knock is no manager came to the table to apologize on behalf of the establishment, and when I sought one out she says they don't micromanage their staff... which is kind of necessary when a "oops" moment that could have killed someone happens. "It must have slipped her mind" is NOT an acceptable answer from management when a situation like this arises. Save your time and your money and eat elsewhere. read more

When we got to the host stand, the hostess said "we will get 2 tables together now get your party together". Dinner seemed like it took along in comparison to getting appetizer and side salad. Asked to speak with manager, she came over and said I would have to pay for salad and vegetables. Fish comes with 2 sides but for $2 you can get salad. Bill comes $5.99 for side salad and $2.99 for vegetables? It's not so much that I had to pay but the rudeness she delivered it, it was my fault for not ordering replacement dish. Having worked In hospitality business, they should've offered dessert or take dinner off. I realize this is seasonal business and they could care less because they will be busy regardless. used to be our favorite steakhouse for about 8 years. my husband and I had dinner there September 13th. i always order medium rare ribeye steak. my steak was barely pink and I'm not even sure it was a ribeye. I was overly disappointed. then we were charged when we asked for more dinner rolls. all the steaks on the menu say market price, never saw that before. we had to ask for prices. their prices are a little high but we don't mind paying if the meal is good. for the prices they charge, the steaks should be superb. needless to say I don't think we'll be going back.... read more
