Came here with my boyfriend for a quick birthday celebration and he booked a table for us for 10 P.M. hoping that we would get to order something on the happy hour menu. When we were seated, we were told that you could only order happy hour at the bar and not at the tables... I wish we were notified about this beforehand, but the waiter was nice enough to try to get in the happy hour for us, which I really appreciate! Keep in mind that they do have LATE NIGHT HAPPY HOUR, but you HAVE to be seated at the bar to order from the HH menu. I always passed by this restaurant when I go around Willow Glen, but never seemed to dine in it. I am sure glad my boyfriend took me here because the food was extremely fresh! The ambiance was also super nice and also has outdoor seating with a fire place! We ordered: 1) Roasted Bone Marrow- $13 - Served with caper balsamic dressing, parsley, and shallot - It was my first time trying bone marrow and I LOVED it! 2) Braised Beef Cheeks- $27 - served with wild arugula, pickled beets, and buttermilk horseradish - HIGHLY recommend. I've been here twice, once for dinner and drinks, and most recently, for brunch. This review will be about my brunch experience although my dinner experience was just as good. Our waitress was friendly and informative. Three of my party ended up getting the bottomless mimosas (11 bucks is pretty good price for bottomless!). They were pretty standard, not much to comment on there. We got the ricotta beignets to share and honestly I wish I ordered one plate for myself! They were fluffy, subtly sweet, and paired well with the lemon curd. I ordered the hangtown fry, which came with a side of hash browns. It was actually a lot more food than I imagined I'd get, and it was very tasty. I had a nibble of my friend's scotch egg and it was very tasty as well - nicely seasoned. Didn't get a chance to taste my other friend's pork belly but it looked delicious! Overall, I loved the atmosphere (was a little noisy but it was memorial weekend) and loved the food. If a simple phone call is enough to turn a NEW CUSTOMER AWAY, then line up and take notes. My wife and I just left the gym and couldn't wait to try a new restaurant for brunch today. Ooooooh we found "The Table" on Yelp, saw the great menu and food and decided to call. We were coming from Milpitas at 11am on Saturday morning so I expected at least a 40-60 minute wait (no sweat!) it would take us around 20 minutes to even get to The Table. So I decided to call the restaurant while we were getting onto the freeway 880/Montague expwy. The wait time was 40 minutes...again no biggie to me, so I asked if we could be out on the list, as we were in the car En Route...... Sorry. Our company policy is someone must be present to put your name on the list. So I guess it really DOESN'T MATTER, that NEW CUSTOMERS would drive over 20 minutes to try your restaurant? Needless to say, the girl who answered the phone had no care at all, and reiterated again what "company policy" is. After asking to make an exception for new customers that were literally in the car driving to you, still nothing. Seemed so easy for her to not care about NEW customers. I guess the table only caters to REGULAR customers who all know the company policy. Oh well. Cross The Table OFF MY LIST, I wouldn't step foot in there nor refer any of my family or friends to eat there. I came in after always seeing this place on my nearby places to eat. I left very confused at the solid 4-star rating. I had a reservation for 4 at 8pm on a weekend and the place wasn't crowded at all. But because of the reviews, I still thought it would be a great experience. First of all, the food took forever to come out. I sat there with my glass of wine almost done before we got our entrees. One of my friends was vegetarian and he literally only had one option to chose from. ONE. Safe to say that if you're vegetarian, you shouldn't come here. We're in the Bay Area, you need plenty of vegetarian options, come on now. It was really funny because when we asked our server if they had any other veggie options, he said "Tons!" and recommended the appetizers...as entrees. My friend ended up ordering two orders of the shishito peppers and the rest of us ordered the fried chicken, burger and steak. We also ordered the bone marrow since that was what seemed like everyone ordered and looked really good. The bone marrow was expensive for the amount you get and it lacked flavor. It was topped with greens and toast that tasted burnt. The fried chicken was good and the portion size was generous. The steak was small in comparison and it was just ok. The burger was nothing special. The kicker were the shishito peppers. Oh boy. The peppers were fried and topped with crispy garlic. That's it. I think at this point I was already upset by how such an high expectation turned out that I was upset that my friend was served such scarcely seasoned peppers as an entree. Really nice place, I came here on a Friday night and sat outside. It was a chilly night but they have many heaters so you can't even feel it. It was a really nice ambiance and the service was pretty good, the only reason I give this place 3 stars is because of the vegan options available. The only option they have for vegans is an impossible burger which I didn't mind like okay at least they have something, however I do feel like they can try a little harder. In order to make the burger vegan you have to order it without mayo or cheese and for some reason mine didn't have tomato so it was basically just the bun, the patty, pickles, and lettuce and now that I think about it it didn't even have onions :/ Frankly it was just a very sad meal so I hope this encourages the restaurant to get a little more creative with the only vegan option they have. I'd love to give this place another try because it's a nice place to come with friends but I really do hope they step it up! read more

Had a great time tonight with my boyfriend he got the duck pasta and i got a salad from the appetizer list, i didnt like the dish i ordered and sent it back i had ordered a cheese board and it was a great fill for me! I enjoyed 2 glasses of their lemonade i loved it so much and im so picky! They later brought me a free dessert, they were delicious! I wasnt even even able to finish my cheese board after the yummy bread with ricotta cheese (for a start)! They let me take them home instead so thoughtful of them! Found The Table early on in the day and was impressed with their seasonal menu offering. Right off the bat, before even stepping foot in the restaurant, I was impressed with their customer service. I made a reservation for 6:45pm online (it was the only time slot) and was called within 5 minutes to confirm - I asked if they had anything earlier, and the hostess was able bump us up to 6pm with no issues. Walking into the restaurant, I really liked the industrial/rustic ambiance. The dining area is also very bright from the huge windows. My parents definitely passed on their foodie-ism to us kids, so it was very cool that we were all able to identify a few plates that stood out to us after a quick once-over the menu - definitely not an easy task. Our waitress was friendly, but seemed a bit overwhelmed by dinner service. We didn't receive complementary bread at the start and she would come and deliver clean plates then take them away but leave the used plates...maybe we didn't use the right plates for the right purpose, but it wasn't explained either. Not a big deal. For food, we started our meal with the chicken liver mousse and bone marrow as appetizers. In regards to the mousse, it was served with toasted crostini, a scoop of mousse topped with smoked salt and a generous portion of raisins on the side. The mousse was delicious and decadent. The raisins gave it a nice sweetness and the crostini provided that excellent crunch. As for the bone marrow, I was the only person to have had it prior to this experience and I thought that The Table did theirs very well. It was deliciously buttery and the garnishes of parsley and sliced radishes provided that extra bite, if you wanted. My family really enjoyed the bone marrow, scraping up every last bit. The only complaint is that I thought the charred ciabatta was a little too much - the bread took up too much smokey flavor to be enjoyable. BUT. If you ask, they will provide you with a nice little baguette roll straight from the Acme Bread Company which The Table then delivers toasted. For my entree, I opted for the pan seared scallops. It came with 4 large sea scallops grilled to a gorgeous golden brown. Each bite was better than the last and amazing when paired with the potatoes and bacon underneath. The carrot puree was different and added a nice sweetness. I definitely liked that you didn't get any raw carrot flavor. Mom opted for the beef cheek which was more than fork tender. She actually thought it was *too* tender but liked the flavors and the arugula salad on the side. Dad had the Fried Chicken which, value-wise, is off the charts! 4 pieces for $20? Steal! The chicken is actually made with an Asian flair - fried beautifully (crunchy, not oily) then tossed in a spicy honey and seasoned with toasted sesame and roasted seaweed. On the side, there were house made pickles and a bit of kimchi. Brother ordered the steak medium-rare. Delivered to perfection, he cleared nearly all his plate with exception of the charred broccolini. For dessert, we had the beignets. YUM. They were doughnut hole sized and coated in sugar and delivered with a lemon curd sauce on the side. I loved loved LOVED the lemon curd sauce. It provided just the right amount of tartness to offset the sweetness. The beignets were also done very nicely - crisp exterior, fluffy interior, and not doughy. Have always wanted to try the scotch egg but I was a little disappointed that the sausage was a bit dry and only a thin layer. The crust is thicker than the sausage. However the egg was perfectly cooked with soft oozing yolk. On the other hand, the lemon ricotta pancakes and beignets with lemon curd were super tasty. The best pancakes I had so far. It's fluffy and not cakey type pancake and not super airy like the Japanese soufflé pancake texture. The Table pancakes done just right. I will return just for the pancakes. As for the beignets, I saw a table next to mine had both the lemon curd and caramel sauce. For my taste, I think the lemon curd gave a good balance of slight tartness to the sweet sugar covered beignets so definitely prefer the lemon curd, otherwise it will be overly sweet with the caramel sauce. read more

The worst brunch and restaurant experience I ever had. Caveat that it's been a while since this experience but it's so unbelievable it is worth retelling! We went here for a weekend brunch and neither us nor our friends were served the food we actually ordered. They simply ommitted sausage and bacon from the dish that my friend ordered because they "ran out" so his dish was just potatoes! Another dish they completely replaced with something different without even asking. And when we asked about what happened, we were told that next time if we want to get the food that we order we should come back during the week! For a weekend brunch!?! And that is all after waiting over an hour to be seated. May I just say I don't recommend you go? LOL read more

I really wanted to give more stars. The staff and manager were absolutely great. And they comp'd multiple items and listened attentively to us. But nothing else worked... We ordered the bone marrow and fritters for appetizers. The fritters were raw in the middle. Just plain uncooked batter. We sent them back and another batch came. Same issue. Guys, it's not that hard to cook them. But they couldn't get them right. They offered to get us another order, but we decided to just skip them. The bone marrow was also not cooked well. A lot of blood in one of the pieces. The manager explained that it was probably just a vessel. Yes, but I think that's what cooking is for. Anyway, even if it had been cooked, it just didn't measure up. I think it's because I was expecting a desi version like my mom used to cook! I can't fault The Table for that. The dinner was ok. Nothing special. The dessert was good! We had the s'mores version. Very rich. The servers seemed to be both frantic. They were moving so fast that they were dropping cutlery, and other stuff. Luckily, nothing fell on us. But they didn't help set any kind of relaxing environment. And note, the restaurant was NOT busy. We were there late Sunday night. So why why??? OK, on to hygeine - WEAR YOUR MASKS!!! No, not the patrons, but the servers. Every employee should be wearing masks. Have we not learnt anything from the last bloody year?? When my server was talking to me, I felt some of her spit land on my face. Thanks. To Management - wear the damn masks. This should be your policy for good going forward. If you're looking for the perfect weekend brunch spot, The Table is the place to be! Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch and as expected, the place was very busy. Luckily, they do except reservations over yelp so we were able to be quickly seated after putting in a reservation 30 minutes before. Going onto the food, I had ordered a special for the day, which was a soft shell crab eggs benedict, while my partner ordered the chilaquiles. And the food was absolutely phenomenal! Their eggs benedict came on a homemade english muffin with a very unique, delicious tasting hollandaise sauce. And the soft shell crab added a really unique touch to the dish, definitely something you can't get at any other breakfast spot! My partner's chilaquiles were plentiful and topped with a serving of tender carnitas. Finally, both dishes came with perfectly poached eggs! If you're looking to get away from the typical brunch spot that serves ordinary brunch options, this place is absolutely worth a try as they offer much more innovative dishes. The food here was pretty solid: Sugar Dusted Ricotta Beignets - I loved that this was not overly sweet. The lemon sauce was sour, which was a good contrast to the light sugary covering. The beignets were very warm and soft. Pomegranate Hibiscus Soda - Very interesting. It tasted like sparkly juice but lighter. Eggs Benedict (smoked salmon) - The hollandaise tasted much lighter than other hollandaise I've tried. The bread it came with tasted kind of like garlic bread, which was delicious. It seemed to have some green onion in it as well. Overall a solid dish. The entree also came with fruit, which was wonderful. Roasted Bone Marrow - The texture was different from other bone marrow dishes I've tried. It was less of a spread and more gelatinous. Tasted pretty good overall though. I have been to the table before and had a couple good experiences. Tonight I was the exact opposite, an absolutely terrible experience. It is a Tuesday night, restaurant was moderately crowded but not packed. We were quoted a wait time to sit outside of 20 minutes and were told we could sit at the bar until a table opened up. Had a drink and waited and as time passed I saw a few tables open up but didn't get cleaned off. As we passed the 30 minute mark of waiting I went to check in with the host to see if I could get some sort of update but as I waited at the host stand no one showed up. I saw another couple who came to the bar after us, proceeded to get sat before us. As I continued to stare at the the empty tables and wondered when I got sat I began to get more and more aggravated. I went to check in with the host again and he explained that he is the only host and they are very busy.... on a Tuesday night? Nevertheless he didn't know the name of my party but assured me we were at the top of the list to get seated, yet he sat 2 other couples before us? After 50 minutes of waiting we finally got sat, only to be brought 2 empty glasses ( 1 being dirty) and no water or anything. we didn't need time to look at the menu because we spent the last 45 minutes at the bar waiting and looking it over. We sat for 10 minutes and waited to be greeted, acknowledged or any form of hello. But nothing...... we sat and waited for a server to approach us, so we got up and left. Yes the food is good and that is the only reason I give it 1 star. 45 minutes spent at the bar and $75 for 2 drinks and the bartender did not once acknowledge us, ask us how we were and was just rude for no reason. There seemed to be little direction from management, any awareness from the staff and just an overall terrible experience for what is usually a solid dinner date spot. Had the eggs benedict with smoked salmon and man it was delectable! The service here was so nice as well, had two servers do a lot for my group and with not a minute wasted. Who loves bottomless mimosas and delicious food to accompany it? I do. A group of friends and I went to grab late weekend brunch here on a Sunday whim. We were worried about the wait since reviews suggested we make reservations beforehand but we only had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, which I thought was not bad considering I had waited longer for KBBQ shops before.. Mimosas wasn't spectacular but bottomless was all I wanted. We got the Corned Beef Hash, Ricotta Beignets, Fried Chicken + Biscuit, Hangtown Fry and Fried Chicken Sandwich. Corned beef was more salty than I had expected it to be but the Fried Chicken entrees were the opposite! I've been here for dinner and I am always satisfied with their quality of food.The menu is seasonal and I don't dine here very frequently so I can't really pinpoint any menu favorites, but I've always found something on the menu to enjoy. My wife and I had been wanting to try this spot out every since we moved downtown San Jose. Every time we'd go to the BevMo next door this place would be kind of busy and it gave off good vibes. But unfortunately our experience wasn't so good!! It took our waiter(Dennis Noe) about 20 minutes to even greet us and when he did he seemed to be in hurry or didn't want to serve us. He got my wife's order wrong and didn't want to take it off the check. Five stars to our sweet waitress, Nicole, who was attentive and had genuine smile. You are awesome girl! Food and drinks on happy hour menu were average. Clams were not available, so we tried the popular doughnut holes and bone marrows. Lemon curd was yummy and yolky, but the doughnut holes could be fried a bit longer to add the texture of crunchiness. The bone marrows was a bit flavorless and quite oily, and i wish they could had served w hot/warm garlic bread instead. I'm not a big fan of fruity and sweet cocktails, so my opinion is biased. Although the food and drinks are well prepared (potato wedges, spiced old fashioned, beers) the service is lacking. They run the clock on each table, 90 minutes before they kick you out. The trick is, they take 20+ minutes to even ask you for an order and another 20 to deliver it..and this is when they aren't busy. The server was polite and energetic, I can appreciate this; but it overall feels like they were playing a game to run the clock. A simple improvement of service will raise this rating to 5 stars.
