Food is so good and it reminds me of when I was stationed in San Diego Ca. But this management here in Dallas needs to take more serious of the amount of orders for the day. The place feels very authentic in uptown/downtown Dallas. With the decor, the music, ingredients and the sauce/toppings bar. The tacos here are packed in ingredients. I highly recommend their Al Pastor tacos. They were the best from what I ordered. I also had the carne asada and the Sonora tacos. They both were pretty good but I thought the angus steak in them could use more flavor. But I do love that they put guac in them. The sauces they offer were delicious and they had a wide variety. So this one hurts a little bit because I had high hopes. I drove 30+ miles to try the place where I read has "authentic" Baja fish tacos. I'm originally from California and I'm used to having fish tacos that I've grew up eating. So I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. They weren't very crowded. Which I thought was great. I ordered two Baja fish tacos and a California burrito. So on the first bite of the fish tacos, I knew I wouldn't like them. The tortilla was thick and there was just one, but it was almost like eating raw corn tortilla. I don't feel it was toasted or cooked long enough. The fish itself was flavorless and lacked salt. I didn't like the sauce that was drizzled on top either. Out of a scale of 1-10 I give the fish tacos at three. I would probably never order that again and quite honestly the worst fish taco I've ever eaten. The California burrito with Carne Asada was also flavorless, and in my opinion, lacking salt on the meat which really wasn't charred was just bland, if I could describe it. if I were coming back from a night of the club or drinking, I would maybe order something from there again, but other than that, I don't see myself coming back. read more

This is my go-to-taco neighborhood taco place. It was pretty busy the last Saturday night I went and you can tell it's a favorite in the area. Despite the backlog of orders, I could tell the staff still paid careful attention to making the food as I watched them behind the counter. My partner and I took our food to go this time and it was still warm after our 10 minute walk. I got 3 tacos - Baja, Spicy Shrimp, and Pastor. All 3 were really good + flavorful in their own way. I felt the right amount of meat + toppings was put in each taco - no skimping and not too much in each one. One thing I wished I'd paid more attention to was the type of sauces at the salsa bar. We got the mild and medium salsas, as we both don't have super high spice tolerances. The mild was a lot more smoky than I realized and didn't go with my Baja taco as well. The medium salsa was most universally paired well taste wise with my tacos. I honestly could've gone up to the hottest sauce. My partner got the California burrito - he really really loved it. I had a coworker also try this place previously and he recommended it - it seems to be the signature item of this place. As a treat, we also decided to get churros. I was pleasantly surprised to see each churro was larger than I expected - I thought they'd be really small pieces. You can tell they are freshly made. At a place in Dallas called, The Taco Stand, it seems to be new here in Dallas, they have other locations including some in San Diego. First of all I'm a Mexican food snob, I will admit I don't care for TexMex. There's nothing wrong with TexMex, it's just not for me! The Taco Stand is not TexMex, it's true Mexican style tacos, but like I said I'm a Mexican food snob. The place is nice and very busy, for me it was good, not great just good, but miles ahead of TexMex in my opinion. The tortillas were fresh and tasty, the Carne Asada was tasty, but they put bland beans in the Carne Asada burrito, and that killed the taste. A new taco stand is now open in downtown Dallas. These tacos are meant to be like those served in Tijuana and other parts of the Baja Peninsula. Julian, partnered with his uncle Aram, started in La Jolla, followed by Downtown San Diego, Encinitas, North Park, Miami's Wynwood art district, Las Vegas, and Orange County. Now Dallas! Hecho a mano - handmade in house tortillas is what that means for you. These tortillas are crafted into tacos that are wrapped up at the end forming a cone shape. I got the: asada, al pastor, grilled pescado, Baja and Sonora Taco. I also got some churros. The feast for my eyes brought me in. The smell of tortillas and tacos greeted me at my truck practically. The flavors and textures hit. Delicious. I didn't make it to the salsa bar or the rest of the menu. But I will. Why did I show my fountain lemonade? I can't believe I've been to this National Treasure 4 Times now since they've opened here in Uptown & never reviewed it. Tbh, everything is ALWAYS 5 Stars UNTIL TONIGHT THAT IS LOL. I dined in earlier tonight October 8th 2024 around 8 pm and I noticed a guy I've never seen before. Older white guy with a Bald head and he simply DID NOT pass the vibe check. I ius simply don't seee the correlation between the pleasant experiences I've had before versus tonight with this guy. He gave off a very Much John Wayne Gacy/ Ted Bundy aura. When my cousin and I ordered he completely had zero patience and no real knowledge of the menu. After I ordered the Mar y Tierra Papas, I came back and asked could he ask the cooks to split that for me and my cousin. His explanation was that's not gonna work because the way they put the Toppings on won't alallow them to ssplit it. I'll give u a box and yall can scoop half into. This guy passes off this Half ssA explanation instead of saying I don't speak Spanish and the 1 person who does speak Spanish & English don't talk to me and I don't wanna ask him NOTHING because I could clearly tell there's no chemistry between he and the workers. A few minutes into eating, 2 Asian Guys walk In, order and wait for their food. They go to the drink machine and here comes John Wyane walking up with his cup standing there and glaring at them like they need to move so he can get his FREE DRINK that he could get at ANYTIME OF THE DAY which is rude. After that now he's walking back & Forth to sweep @9 with 1 more houhour till closing mind you. Lastly, when it's time to leave my cousin needed to use the restroom so I stand up next to the table as I wait for. Do you know not even 30 seconds later here comes John Wayne AGAIN. He walks up twitwirling a Dish rag in his hand, skips the other tables and starts to wipe ours as I'm literally leaning on it which in Restaurant Code Means gtfo my way so I can clean and go home soon. I simply walked out the restaurant at that point and waited on my cousin outside. I'm so confused as to what would make yall hire this man as if he could ever brighten up a day when everything about him seems dark. I mean go let him perform. A Voice Over for a Clear Eyes Commercial. I mean his only strength was that kinda hat Compliments a Bald Head. I mean Hello?... What is this? NOW that I've got that off my chest, The Taco Stand has been absolutely my Favorite place from another state to hit Dallas this year. Everytime I've Patronized here, I've brought someone different sonyou all can Bless their Taste Buds. Those Fries are EXQUISITE and thats a word I never thought to use to describe French Fries. They stay Crispy so long. They battered and then fried kinda like Popeyes Fries but wayyyyyy Better. The Corn is always perfectly Ripe, Juicy , and Crisp with hints of Lime, Majin, Mayo, Parmesan and something else that these other TaTaquerias simply don't have. Like the movie There's something about Mary, I can truly say There is SOMETHING about The Taco Stand. I've literally tried almost everything on the menu and nothing has ever disappointed. Now the Camaron Burrito tonight was a lil Bland and need a kick of something but overall was not bad. This place is so good I can't even take away a Star for the Serial Killer at the register tonight. I loved my burrito. The food was really good. All the salsas were amazing! Staff was friendly. They didn't overdue the rice and beans to cut costs as they do at other taquerias. I see a lot of potential with this place. Also reasonable prices. Cons: -Music is SUPER loud!!!I genuinely don't know why they have it at a club volume. I'm not against the music, I love Mexican music, but my noise cancelling earbuds couldn't cancel anything out. Grabbed dinner to-go tonight. The people working at the restaurant were SO nice, very welcoming. Food was ready to be picked up as promised and order was correct. They have a salsa bar available to grab any extras you might want. The "hot" sauce was indeed pretty hot to me, but very tasty. (A fried shrimp option would be great with that sauce.) The pork taco was my fav. So so good. Chicken taco - the texture of the chicken was not my vibe. Not an issue with the cook or seasoning, but the quality of that particular piece. An issue I've seen overall with chicken quality in the US. I also got the Sonora taco (carne asada with extra toppings). The beef was tasty. Although the beans were good, I would probably go with the base carne asada version next time. We also had the chicken quesadilla. Portion and prep was great, but similar issues with chicken quality. Lastly, we had the guac to start. The avocados they used were the perfect ripeness. It was a tad bland for us, so we added some red onion, salt, and lime and it was amazing. Nice spot.
