Don't look up, the dirt on the fans and the fittings is terrible, thick with dust, health inspector anyone??? Staff are very friendly and attentive. What can I say about this little hole in the wall place aside from that it is a good place to eat with its own character! First, the food was great. Tasted freshly prepared and was well priced. I had the salmon with mac and cheese. Also had their bbq nachos. Both were great and worth the price. Second, the atmosphere is similar to a surf and turf style bar off the beach. I really liked it and will be back more often. They have a good alcohol and beer selection, nice airy upstairs seating overlooking 11th street, and just a well put together spot. Stopped by to see what's it is about. Had lunch and it was amazing. Had the surf and turf salad and I can't wait to get it again. The shrimp and steak were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The upstairs view looked really nice, and aesthetic. So if you wanted to take pictures there, I wouldn't blame you LOL. However, the service wasn't the best. My wife and I love the Upper Room. Great food, vegan, vegetarian and meat choices. Super fresh veggies served with the meals. We've had the fresh broccoli, delicious ahi tuna, sweet potatoes to die for and excellent beer, wines and other spirits to choose from. They have beer on tap from one of our other favorite places, Morgan Territory. The owners Brad and Ricky are awesome. The servers and chefs are very friendly. Food is prepared quickly and perfectly. We have been here a few times between 2017-2018 and the food was exceptional. I was excited to return and was craving something healthy but today we were sorely let down. All four of our family members were disappointed by what I bought. And mind you its not cheap. I spent over $100. 1. All the fried items were heavily salted, barely edible: Fried pickles, beer-battered fries, crispy Brussels (w/ fried onions), waffle cut sweet potato fries. I feel like someone salted them all at the same time and just went to town with the salt. 2. The Steak we ordered we asked for medium well and got over-done. My son has braces and he was hoping to at least be able to easily cut it with a fork and knife and easily chew it in small bites. That was not the case at all. 3. The poke wrap came soggy but I can't completely fault TUR for that. That was just probably not a good item to buy for delivery. But the poke was also salty. The waffle cut fries should have been packaged separately and not with the poke wrap because the juices soaked into the fries. 4. We got Asian mixed salad when we ordered broccoli. Not a big deal in and of itself but considering the above it just stood out more. 5. The mixed vegetables had a lot of oil or butter. I had assumed they were steamed. 6. Tofu and and side salad was ok. 7. Mashed potatoes was ok. 8. The Ahi Tuna salad was good. 9. Mac and cheese was really good. Again I was looking forward to something well-prepared and healthy. Where healthy means: not heavily salted nor oily/buttery. I realize I ordered some fried items (duh, not healthy) but I didn't expect them to be that salty and thought we would be redeemed by the rest of the order of protein and vege dishes. read more

Love the upper room. The food is great, the beer selection is off the hook. The staff is very nice. So you ask why not five stars? I think there needs to be more help. The last 2 times I have visited, it has taken an inordinate amount of time to even get water. I love to taste beer before I commit but I feel like I should not hold up the poor waitress tasting things because she is so busy. I know that no one can account for call ins and I did not write anything the first time but this is 2 times in a row. Come try the food though you will not be disappointed. read more

Giving this place another try once under new management was well worth it. While I liked the options and the freshness of the food before, I'd been underwhelmed when it came to seasoning. It never was that big of a deal, though because my orders were always take out and I could jazz it up all I wanted at home. This time was different, everything was eaten as is and we thoroughly enjoyed our delicious seared tofu salad, hoisin chicken salad, and mac and cheese. It doesn't seem like the previous owner has any connection to the restaurant now at all, though with the timing it seems like the epic and offensive online rant that elicited a negative response was done while he was in the process of selling and he knew full well what he was doing. I'll definitely be ordering again, but I wish there were some weekend hours even if they were only open for a few hours for lunch and/or dinner service on a Saturday. We went here recently for my son birthday. The interior was cool, they had a nice floor to ceiling window view of the downtown area. The menu had your run of the mill bar and grill food.
