Just wow! We had pumpkin soup, the everything bagel with cashew cream cheese/avocado/tomato, and the peanut butter cup. The food tasted so fresh, and the seasoning was spot on. The dishes are prepared in front of you, and the owners were super friendly. We travel to Phoenix about once a month and definitely will be back. Um, YES, okay. Gather around children. I must tell you about The Uprooted Kitchen. I'd had a busy day at work and my boss said, "Hey, lunch on me!" Um, yes, okay. I'm on week 5 of eating a plant-based diet, so my options are a little more limited than what they used to be. I searched for Vegan restaurants on Yelp and The Uprooted Kitchen graced my eye balls. I needed something fast, and fortunately this place offers online ordering through their website! So if you're in a pinch, head over there. Ordering was quick and easy, but **take note of their hours because this is primarily a breakfast/lunch place.** I went with the corn chowder with housemade wheat-free seeded naan bread. I headed to the north pick-up window and the friendly staff member was masked and quickly got me my food. Nice and easy! I brought my food home and dove in. Omg. My tastebuds. I can't even begin to describe to you how ABSOLUTELY FREAKING DELICIOUS this corn chowder is!!!! It's sweet, a little spicy, it's CREAMY, and has a whole bunch of herbs which make it beyond delicious. It, like, smelled amazing and then tasted even amazing-er???? This MIGHT have been the most delicious thing I have eaten in the 5 weeks of my plant-based diet (or even this entire year). The naan bread that came with it was a little underbaked and chewy, but I really can't complain because the corn chowder was the true star here. I concur with the other reviewers on this one. I'm amazed I discovered a vegan restaurant like this in Arizona. They provide numerous gluten- and soy-free options using ingredients from local farms. There are few restaurants I can trust to serve the high quality of food that I've had at The Uprooted Kitchen. I've been dealing with conditions that limit my food choices. Seed and vegetable oils are a problem for me, so most restaurants are out. I didn't even ask if the food contained any of these oils or other ingredients that are not currently working for me. I took the risk based on some of the ingredients they do use. My belly was great afterwards, and my energy has been great in subsequent days. This was a great find for us! Visiting from Los Angeles and searching for other great plant based places to try. Chad and his wife own and operate and were wonderful to meet. First the peanut butter cup... wow. This was rich and had a great flavor. Also the size is such a different find. The lentil burger was really great and the in house made buns were so good that i brought two friends in two days later ! My first morning here I ordered cold brew, great flavor, and a breakfast bar. This place is a gold mine for assorted hand made plant based tries! For linch on our second day we also tried the corn chowder. I'm a big corn fan and this was the artisan corn flavor worth every slurp! My fiancé got the sushi. I'd prefer not to have it with the quinoa. High-quality food and friendly service We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on a Friday afternoon and all of the dishes were colorful and pretty. I had the buckwheat crepe, which had a soft texture and ample filling. I kind of wished that there were some potato bits inside the crepe to make it more savory. The French onion soup was also tasty though some feedback that the "cheese" dollop wasn't necessary. The bread accompaniment with the soup was excellent! Their menu isn't very big but then you know they are only serving you in season items and focusing with care on those key things. They also have some desserts...the scone and banana cream pie in a cup were the highlights. There is limited seating on long tables indoors and some seating outdoors as well. After you order, you can find a seat and they bring the food to you. Their hours are somewhat limited and they are currently only open one evening. They also sell some T-shirts with their logo. The location is easy to miss if you're not looking for it so look for it! I felt good supporting this local business and hope to return soon. read more

This was different from what I normally visualize at restaurants; a bustling of employees, scurrying to get food to patrons in a rushed manner. But at Uprooted Kitchen, it was smooth and effortless. If there were such thing, it was like yoga cooking. At any moment, I might look up from my juicy vegan patty and find the cook balancing in tree pose as she scooped a ladle of beans from a pot. Holy no-cow wow! This vegan restaurant may well be the best in Phoenix. The menu is limited, and changes weekly, but the quality and taste are exceptional! We got a small bowl of white bean soup, a crepe and a salad bowl. It was way more than we could eat in one sitting. All the veggies were fresh and well prepared and the dressings were very flavorful. The pesto on the bean soup was especially great. The homemade crackers with the bowl and naan with the soup are not to be overlooked as well. The treats are not to be missed as well. We got a delicious coconut macaroon. I also love the location. With its evolution from an airstream food truck to a quonset hut - Uprooted has solid style. Places like this are great for anyone looking for a healthy and tasty meal - not just vegans. The owners are the most nicest people you will ever meet. They address you by name, and always have great conversation. Really lovely, home cooked fresh plant based food! I got the sunflower cookie and ate it almost all just standing there. The coconut water was refreshing and the addition of the spirluna made it healthy and nutritious. Its husband and wife owned with a unique and fresh menu! Awesome! I had previously bookmarked this place when I saw it on the Yelp weekly list for vegan and vegetarian restaurants. I didn't realize it was in Barnone. We actually went to eat at Joe's Farm Grill but the lunch rush line made it undesirable. We wandered in and decided to check it out. Mmmmm, curry! They happened to have curry paper wraps as a part of the cold case items. I went vack and forth between this and the veggie burger. Obviously, I decided my love for curry was most important and a cold ginger brew. The Beau got the Cobb salad and a cold brew coffee. Family style seating sort of weirds me out. With that said, we sat across from a lady working on her laptop and she didn't seem to mind. Mind you, the Beau and I are sitting there discussing choice cuts of beef at a plant based dining restaurant... hopefully we didn't effect the review for others (Ha!) My dish came with what appeared to be horseradish but instead was some type of amazing coconut deliciousness to add to my stellar wrap. The portion initially appeared small but it actually hit the spot, which is a wonderful thing about plant based food... it's usually nutrient dense and quite filling. I believe it had curried cauliflower and was not an overwhelming curry flavor (although I like it that way), I believe it had mushroom, sweet potato, pickled red onion and an herbed quinoa. I could totally be wrong but it was good, so it doesn't really matter. My ginger brew was fabulous on my tummy. The cobb salad was far from what the Beau was expecting and that is not to say he didn't enjoy it more than he thought he would, it just means he was likely expecting eggs and cild cuts. Packed full of seeds and nuts and beans and avocado and olives and beets, with a ranch style dressing. He was not disappointed and I heard him say more than once it was a very good salad. This vegan place can easily hold its own among the best in the country. Seriously. Particularly as a lunch and breakfast place. Dinner is served only on Wednesday evenings, and includes the regular menu plus one dinner special. The selection is limited, and changes somewhat from week to week. The food, though -- the food. Just oh so good. The dishes are creative, the ingredients fresh, and the food tasty. The house-made vegan cheeses (feta!) and sauces (creamy dill!) are just amazing. We've tried the southwest kale salad bowl and the buckwheat crepe, and both are superb. Very limited seating -- just a few tables in front of the counter, which is where you order. The place is BYOB, and there is a brewery in the same building. The restaurant itself has a selection of interesting teas. Service is excellent. It appears that the husband and wife team handle most if not all the service, and are very attentive. We were visiting from out of town, and so are not regulars, but it seemed that the husband and wife knew and greeted regulars by name. I'm looking forward to what's next with Uprooted Kitchen. Opening another location that focuses more on dinner than lunch and breakfast would be a home run in my book. read more

We wanted to try a local vegan restaurant that uses fresh ingredients and stopped in here because they received such high ratings. And just as a point of reference, I am not vegan or vegetarian, but have eaten at a number of vegan restaurants. I was a little torn about what to rate it. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich, but my wife's French Toast on the other hand was very bland and needed a lot of syrup to make it tasty. The desserts we got to go were good though. This place is such an amazing little GEM!!! Incredible, healthy, vibrant food made by the sweetest couple, Chad and his lovely wife Erin. We had the special Curry Dish and then had to order another one to go because it was so delicious!! A beautiful combination of curry lentils, spiced/carmelized cauliflower, sweet and buttery kabocha squash, and seriously the best (slightly fried?) rice ever! Best part is that they have so many vegan, gluten free options and they use all local ingredients. Also, you should be warned that ALL the deserts look amazing, but we had the cashew snickerdoodle cookie and it was so good! This kitchen is tucked into an amazing little community of craftsman and adorable unique shops and the entire property is built around an organic community farm. Many of the items are created using produce that are grown right outside their door! Love this idea so much. I'll start off by saying I am not vegan so this isn't my top option of food choices, but it was enjoyable. We always love coming to Barnone and usually take a trip to the brewery and occasionally the pizza place here but have always been interested in trying The Uprooted Kitchen and, well today was that day. At the end of Barnone you'll find Uprooted Kitchen with long community style seating as well as an outdoor patio. The staff was all friendly and there was a variety of vegan food options to choose from, most ranging around the $13 mark. The menu is split into three segments: Cereal, Sweet, and Savory. We got the tempeh breakfast sandwich and veggie burger from the savory portion of the menu. We really enjoyed the tempeh breakfast sandwich and found there was plenty of flavor and it was easy to eat. It comes with a side salad, which the dressing was delicious and a smashed potato. The veggie burger was fine but it wasn't outrageously flavorful or bold it was a bit plain to be honest. It also came with the side salad and delicious dressing. We sampled the iced Chai Tea and loved it! Overall, this place is unique and there are plenty of food options. I thought the prices were a bit high for what you get, but if you are vegan and this is what you have - it is probably pretty delicious and worthwhile.
