    Chicken bites and waffle!
    Rachelle C.

You really can't miss The Waffle Roost because you can smell the delicious aroma of the fried chicken and sweet waffles from a mile away! As a food truck, they are always on the go from city to city. But we were lucky enough to catch them at San Francisco's Spark Social! Although so, many people waiting in line, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was hot and ready! Surprised that the chicken was super crispy and perfectly juicy in every bite! I love the texture of the waffle - crispy and buttery on the outside nice and fluffy on the inside.

This is for the food truck (favorite new addition to the Stern Grove concerts, please keep coming back!) and we're on our third trip for the group in one day. Loved the boneless fried chicken. Love that they have hot sauce. And loved a little too much the sweet waffles (the churro was great, the caramel and salt was amazing)

Their truck was outside for a schools open house. I got the waffle sandwich which was really good and the bonesless strips and fries for the kids. They all loved it. Glad we finally got a change to try the food from this truck. The staff was very nice and food came out hot. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will be on the lookout for their next location!

Dry ass chicken that also manages to be greasy with no sauces for the chicken bites. What a scam. Tastes like it came from Costco - just trying to fleece the botanic gardens event goes.

Their truck did a pop-up at Ocean Beach for a sandcastle event and thank goodness they did! I love when a good boneless chicken and waffle option is available. The service was great and flavors on point. Highly recommended!

Truly a 3.5/5 but rounding up. I got the spicy sandwich with cheese for lunch. It was pretty tasty flavor-wise. But it was very soft and not crunchy or crispy at all. The spice level was not spicy at all either, about a 2/10. However the collard greens were very delicious! The mac and cheese was pretty standard and wasn't bad or good. Overall pretty typical food truck service standards.

Got the 2legit: chicken & waffle sandwich, which comes with a side of fries. The buttermilk fried chicken was a bit dry but tasty and not too heavy with the batter. The belgian waffle bun was thin, fluffy, slightly crisp, nothing too special about the flavor, but I liked the syrup that came on the side. The fries were just okay, and unnecessary IMO. Service was quick and easy, and my order was prepared in just a couple minutes during the Los Gatos Symphony in the Park 4th of July event. No condiments or utensils offered or available, but at least they had napkins out front.

We had them for a work event! The food truck was giving chill, funny vibes. I mean peep (lol) the chick with sunglasses and a gold chain on the truck. This was a one man show, but he did his thang servicing about 30 of us. We put our order in then came back like 10-15 minutes later and it was good to go. A sandwich and two sides were hellaaaaa filling, but we made sure to make room for dessert!

Perfect Saturday brunch of chicken and waffles. I only wish I had a mimosa or bellini to pair with this! :) Ordered the 2 Legit plate. Comes with 1 piece of pounded fried chicken: thigh meat, skinless, and with a nice crisp batter. A waffle, a small side of mac n cheese, and small side of collard greens are all included for $13.75. Good deal and good eating overall, with quick service. I would order from here again. Batter was nice and lightly seasoned. Collard greens were cooked to a soft al dente and contained some tasty/tiny bits of diced ham. Mac and cheese is solid too.

The Waffle Roost truck was at our work and was very surprised at how good everything was. Food was ready in no time as there were a couple options, and I got the chicken and waffles. Chicken was perfectly moist, waffle was fluffy and crispy at the same time. The macaroni and cheese was tasty, wish it was a bigger serving! I am not usually a fan of collard greens, but this was so yummy I ate it all! Definitely a fan of this food truck!

I work at different companies and they had a food truck event where all the employees were able to choose a food truck and get a meal from them! Well I unfortunately ended work at the tail end of this, but there was The Waffle Roost still available for me to partake. The chicken was crisp and moist. The waffle was sweet to balance the saltiness of the chicken. The fries could've been better to be honest. It wasn't something to hoot or holler about. It was standard. But that boneless chicken waffle totally hit the spot after a great workout. I'd totally try this truck out again for sure!

Fresh waffles off the pot! The waffles were so fresh! The chocolate syrup was molten on top of the hot waffles, it was unbelievably delicious My colleagues gave 5 stars for the "The spicy & I know it" fried chicken sando (sandwich in between waffles ) Apparently the chicken was so young, fresh & tender plus they were freshly made to order!

I'd been eyeing up this truck for a few months and never got a chance to check it out. I happened to go to Palo Alto when they had posted about being there, but didn't find them there, and it turned out they had posted incorrectly. The owner (or one of) Justin reached out to me through text, and apologized, and let me know the upcoming week's schedule, and asked me to leave a text whenever I came by next time. I visited Central Park in Santa Clara on the 4th of July just to check them out. I'm glad I did, we had the waffle chicken sandwich (spicy) with fries. It had the right kick of spice (I can tolerate higher space), and the chicken was breaded and cooked amazing, without being too oily as well. Lovely waffle too, pretty big with a hint of sweetness. Came with some syrup on the side, along with fries. I forgot to ask if they could replace fries with Mac and Cheese. I love waffles of any kind (I also had a waffle ice cream taco in a nearby track haha!) I had left Justin a text but the place was really busy, and he was really nice to text me back later and offer me more than a 50% discount for what had happened the previous week :) I really appreciated that and will be back to check them out soon when they are in the area.

Fresh florals on every table and in garnishes for the drinks! They had the FIFA World Cup on their flat screen above the bar. Drinks: Garden Spritz and the Ube matcha latte - not too overly sweet but great flavor and not too much alcohol! Would come back to order the other options they have. Food: Crispy thoroughly cooked through diced potatoes are to die for. I still remember the crisp crunch. The chicken waffles? I don't usually get these but this is a place I would definitely come back to just so I can eat this one specifically because I know it's good. The chicken was tender and not dried out, the waffles had flavor and the proportion was perfect!

Final Thoughts: 4.20/5.0…read more Contrary to many other opinions, I personally really like brunch. It really is more for the vibes and spending time with my friends and family versus the food sometimes. For some reason, this place has always been on my list of to-go brunch places, but I've just never had the chance to go here. After our matcha run, my friend and I decided to go here for brunch. It was around a 45 minute wait today. On their Yelp, appears to be quite the quaint place to to get food and relax. Will definitely be a 4 star for me. Food: Jumbo Crab Bene with seasonal fruit: 4.0/5 This is their fresh lump crab with sliced avocado, whole grain mustard and poached eggs stacked on lightly toasted English muffins, topped with scratch made Hollandaise sauce and garnished with locally sourced microgreens. This is served with either house potatoes or seasonal fruits. The lump crab is actually fresh crab I believe. There are some pieces of the shell that were still in there. I'm honestly not even mad because that's a pretty big indicator that it's the fresh crab meat picked out. The egg is nicely poached with a runny yolk. Hollandaise sauce is quite nice and light. The Dijon mustard was quite strong for me and did overwhelm some of the other flavors on the plate. It does add a nice flavor, but occasionally, it was too much. For the English muffin, it was quite thick, so it felt kind of dry. It's noted to be slightly toasted, but its somewhat hard to tell with the mustard, crab meat, and poached egg on top, which are mainly wet items. Avocado is perfectly ripe. I'm not an avocado person, but this one did it just right for me. The fruits came with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, apples, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Very refreshing and needed after the savory foods. Philly Steak Sandwich with garlic fries: 4.0/5 This sandwich has grilled steak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms topped with provolone cheese on a toasted baguette with mayo and a light teriyaki drizzle. Will come with either a side of house salad or garlic fries. I really liked how they caramelized the onions and peppers inside of this. There's that additional sweetness from it that works well with the steak and cheese. Very tender meat. The bread also seemed kind of big and just almost dry too. Not too big of a concern given the amount of filling that they give. My friend choose the garlic fries and those were amazing. The cut is just right and the crisp on the outside is just so good. You can taste the garlic, but I could do with even more garlic to it. --------- Quality: Fresh Something I really like is that they use real crab in their jumbo crab bene. You can actually feel the tiny pieces of the shell in it, which usually means its fresh. The food did take a second to come out, but both were piping hot. My friends onions and veggies were quite caramelized, which is nice. Brings out a lot of the flavor component in the sandwich. The fries were actually so good too. I wanted the side of garli fries, but it was convenient that his came with it. Super crispy, nice size, flavor is good. May need a little more fresh garlic, but overall, really good. Price: Reasonable Prices seem reasonable for what they give. Initially, it does lean more on the expensive side, but their portion sizes are larger than your average brunch place. Prices will range from between $18 to $24, with a few outliers. Service: Very sweet workers Very nice service here. Everyone was sweet, greeted us, and checked on us. Our food did take a little longer than some others around us. For us, it was around a 25-30 minute wait after ordering our food. Even the table next to us that were seated after got their food first. The food did come out fresh, so I'm not really complaining. They did let us know and give us little updates about our wait and food though. Ambiance: Classic Brunch Spot The space is nice and looks slightly cramped inside. It was just my friend and I and they gave us a seat right in the corner next to the window. Honestly, probably the best spot for me and the person who seated us also noted that it was his favorite spot in the house. I didn't see much beyond from what was seen by the door. The space looks fairly small, but fit a decent amount of tables with walking space in between still. Always love the open kitchen. It's fun to watch what happens behind the scenes. Location/Parking: Large space It's located right on Saratoga Avenue. There is a Lucky grocery store here, so there is a lot of parking around. We really didn't have any concerns finding a space at all.

The portions are generous, and every dish we ordered came out looking just as good as it tasted. From the tacos and grilled meats to the noodles, bánh mì, and chicken and waffles, everything was packed with flavor. Even the drinks tasted great, although I wish they used a little less ice since they were gone after just a few sips. The only downside was the wait. The restaurant is pretty small, so it's understandable that it gets busy, but be prepared to wait during peak hours. Once we were seated, our drinks took a really long time to come out, and that was probably the most frustrating part of the experience. The service wasn't bad, but it could definitely be more attentive, especially when the restaurant is full. Overall, the food made up for the wait, and I'd still come back. The quality, variety, and portion sizes are worth it. If they can improve the drink wait times and make the service a little more efficient, this place would easily be one of my favorites. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving Vietnamese food with plenty of options.

It's a Banh Mi deli plus a bakery, but we were on a mission to get JUST sesame balls! They had two kinds to choose from - red bean or mung bean, and we did an 18 ct of red bean (excessive?? Possibly. But it was vacation!). I was so excited because they looked and smelled fantastic! However, I was disappointed that I didn't get much of a pull from the dough nor was there a lot of filling on the inside (it was extremely sparse). The flavor did not lack though - the sesame taste was PERFECT (heavy for a normal person, not for me though!), but I wanted more of the filling to balance that heavy sesame taste. The ladies running the shop were your true Vietnamese aunties who were gabbing it up with the regulars, and were sweet to my friend and I (who again, were on a mission for one thing!). Overall, I'd come back to try the Banh Mi and the rice-based desserts.

It wasn't the best Bun Rieu I've ever had but good enough to satisfy my cravings. The portions were generous, and the toppings (tomatoes, tofu, crab paste, pork blood, and sausage) were all tasty. The broth was a little light and could have used more depth and richness, but once I added shrimp paste, it came together nicely. Vegetables were fresh and refillable. Condiments were a bit skimpy, but you could request for more. Prices were on the expensive side, with dishes ranging from $19-$22. Service: The staff was fast and efficient. We were seated quickly, our food arrived promptly, and payment was easy. Ambiance: The restaurant was spacious with plenty of seating. Guests can sit indoors or outside, which was a nice option. Overall, Bun Rieu was fairly average, but it was still a decent experience and satisfied my craving. I'd consider coming back to try their other specialties, like My Quang or Bun Mam, though the prices make me a little hesitant. Rate: Bun Rieu 8/10

They specialize in bún riêu, but the menu also includes bánh canh, bún mắm, cơm tấm, bánh xèo, chè, smoothies, Vietnamese coffee, and fresh sugarcane juice. The portions were definitely substantial, and I appreciated the large plate of fresh herbs, shredded vegetables, bean sprouts, and lime served alongside the soups. The food was good, but overall I found the flavors just average. Nothing was necessarily bad, but neither dish had the depth of flavor that would make me excited to come back specifically for it. With most of the noodle soups priced around $18-$20, I expected the broth to be a little more memorable. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and casual, with plenty of seating. I especially liked the large Vietnamese countryside painting on the wall, which gives the dining room some personality. Overall, this was a decent meal with generous portions and an extensive menu. I can see why someone who loves regional Vietnamese dishes would appreciate the selection, but based on what we tried, it was a solid three-star experience for me.
