I got the WVC Platter and liked it! It was $16.52 after tax. Super large portion --it came with (1) a full biscuit (split in half and toasted), (2) a drumstick, (3) a meatless patty, (4) kale with nutritional yeast, and (5) a container of their mac&cheese! Definitely enough to last at least 2-3 meals I think! In terms of flavor, everything was relatively mild except for the kale (because of the nutritional yeast), but they offer extra to-go containers of hot sauce, barbecue sauce, and nutritional yeast so you can customize it to your tastes! Everything had a great and fresh texture, though the drumstick was a bit chewy. Overall, it's a nice place to stop by if you're in the area, and it definitely hit the spot for me at least! FYI by the time I got back home, the food had cooled down a lot and was just slightly warm still, so that might have affected my perceptions too, but I still thought it was good. I'll update if anything changes after I reheat the leftovers tomorrow! The first time you come here you won't know what to order, because everything on the menu sounds delicious. Believe me, it is. Went here years ago and the place seems to be under new ownership or something now. The infamous bowl is one of my favorite items I've ever had at a vegan restaurant. As much as I was looking forward to eating here the omelet I ordered was probably the worst meal I've had placed in front of me in a long while. There was just too much going on and none of it good, the cheese sauce tasted tangy in an off way, the thick slabs of tempeh inside were the oposite of how to make tempeh taste good. I would never order this again. The potatoes it came with were tasty with onions and peppers but ultimately were ruined by the cheese sauce. Too bad overall, had high hopes. read more

I'd actually give this place a 3.5 The service was fast and friendly. Everyone working was really nice and attentive. The menu is huge and they had a lot of options that sounded really good. And as a vegan, there's simply nothing like going to a restaurant and knowing you can eat anything on the menu. I'm used to have only 1-2 things to choose from, so it's always great going to a vegan restaurant. However, while I hate to say this, the food was simply alright. I ended up getting the burger that has Mac n cheese on it (it was called the big time burger, I think). The mac n cheese was really quite good, but the patty on the burger tasted cheap and like it had just been frozen a few minutes before. Even as far as frozen vegan patties go, I've had many that were waaaay better than the patty that came on this burger. But as a vegan restaurant, would it be so bad to just make the patties fresh and in-house? Because there are a lot of meat-centered restaurants that make amazing hand-made veggie patties. The fries were kind of soggy and lacking flavor. My partner had the caesar salad and the lettuce was also soggy and didn't seem fresh. I would go again simply to try the many other things they offer, and maybe some of the other dishes are better. But I think Wayward Cafe could benefit from a smaller menu offering fresher, better-made food. read more

So, I'm NOT vegan *however* I have to say that I was super impressed by Wayward. It took me a bit to find something that really spoke to me, gotta be honest, but the amazing KENDALL was extremely helpful and generally awesome! She talked up the fried chicken and that's when I found the Tuscany Alfredo. And oh my, Wow! Even though the chicken was not real meat, it was excellent! I was shocked. It was a large portion so I did take the rest home. And it was so good even the second time. Also, I have to say, their garlic bread was absolute perfection. It was delicious!! So even though I'm not a vegan, I could see myself coming back here for that Alfredo or maybe even trying something else. I loved the decor of the restaurant and Kendall mentioned it was more like a vegan diner. It is a really cool little spot and i think my table was made from the wood from a bowling alley. For a vegan cafe, this place is pretty good. The space is pretty small/crammed but the food is good. I've been here a couple times but last time I ordered a vegan quesadilla... and the "cheese" inside of it was definitely not my favorite (very liquid) but the rest of it was great! Echoing the aloofness and forgetful college student server vibe... I ordered a tea and it didn't come for 20+ minutes. Food actually took an actual 45 minutes to arrive at the table. Potatoes were very greasy (I guess to prevent from sticking, but it was swimming in oil on the plate), but the cornbread is yummy. Redeeming qualities are the quantity of vegetarian and vegan options and the cute decor. Service would rate a 2 out of 5. All American plant based nom. Definitely worth it vegan or not. We came during the brunch hours and only waited 15 minutes. Ordered too much food because there were so many good options.... the Sunshine Omelet was so hearty I could only eat a third of it though I shared with my non vegan friends who were in aw... definitely well prepared and seasoned to perfection meals, deals, dishes and cuisines. The Chicken Parm is a must try! I nearly died and went to heaven and came back to life again after that first savory nibble. The sauce is insanely rich. I can still taste the perfectly toasted/grilled bread after 2 1/2 weeks. Been really getting into gluten free options and meals and they have a large variety as well as just a large list (menu) of options and all meals are served all day... meaning you ca eat dinner for breakfast and lunch for dinner. Basically just enjoy food! I love that this place supports the gay community as well... want to come back for another experience and give these guys 5 stars. Staff was incredible. Bathrooms up and downstairs and 100% gender free. The upstairs is very quaint and first come first serve seating. Parking is pretty reasonable on the street and a quick brisk walk. I've been here three times in the past year and I live in California. So like, I kind of like it here. Jk, I love it! My friend lives walking distance from Wayward Vegan, so I've made it a point to visit every time I'm in Seattle. The food has always been excellent, and honestly pretty affordable for the portion size and the fact that it's a vegan restaurant. I've only ever had breakfast/brunch here, but next time I've got to expand! I'm not a huge breakfast person in general, but I've really liked everything I've gotten here. So far I've had both burritos and the good morning crunch wrap. I think my favorite is the tots-in-a-blanket breakfast burrito! Such a brilliant concept. I've also always been greeted with excellent service, and while it has always been pretty happening, I don't think I've ever had to wait for a table. Being new to the whole plant-based eating scene, I was excited to see there are many vegan restaurants in Seattle - including this little Ravenna gem located right off the freeway. I arrived during their busy lunch hour and found a spot at the counter. Craving some traditional comfort food, I couldn't decide between several of their yummy sounding options - including tons of all-day breakfast options, burgers, and even entrees with meat-sounding names. But being a huge fan of the French Dip, this is what I ordered - and it was GOOD! It was one of those things I ate and thought to myself, hmm, maybe I could do this vegan thing long term? Whoa buddy I am so happy we found this place. We actually road tripped up twice and missed it the first time due to the new hours and we managed to make it in the 2nd time right before they're doing their floors and I'm glad we did cause the food was delicious! French toast was amazing. Deadly but a perfect 2nd dish to accompany the other savory dishes we got. We also got the biscuit mountain with country gravy and the good morning crunchwrap. The biscuit mountain is no joke when it comes to serving size you will be full and the gravy was excellent and they gave us plenty which is my usual complaint elsewhere. I just needed to add a ridiculous amount of salt and pepper for my preference but otherwise delicious. Crunchwrap was great, lots of flavor, actually had to take a break from it because of the amount of flavor but it made excellent leftovers. My experience here may have been lackluster due to the fact that I had such an amazing vegan food experience the week before visiting Wayward Vegan Cafe... but, nonetheless, I have to be honest and say that I wasn't too impressed Wayward overall :-/ While I definitely appreciated the variety of options that were available here, and while everything sounded great and tasty, I wasn't too impressed with my actual choice. I opted for the fettuccine alfredo with "chicken," and I think the best part of the meal was the toasted bread. The sauce was definitely lacking taste and texture. It was way too bland, lacked the creamy consistency that I love in an alfredo dish, and just had seemed to be lacking a bit of love during its preparation. I'm not the biggest fan of dairy alternatives when it comes to vegan foods, and this was a major example of why I'm not. I'll definitely give Wayward credit for its attentive and friendly staff during our visit! The ambiance of the restaurant is cute, the decor is welcoming, and I liked the open space setup overall. However, I don't think I'll make another visit back -- I just wasn't very impressed :-( read more

So we ordered take out two nights this week. We also ordered breakfast a week ago. We are vegan so we decided to try a few things. It was ready for pick up fairly quickly and I felt safe picking it up. They have a pretty clean no hands system. The food: Breakfast Benedict and McGriddles style sandwich was joyful. Would do again. Eggs Benedict makes me so happy the pesto was delicious and the hollandaise sauce was good! Tempeh Reuben was amazing !!! Just get it if you like reubens. We got the kale side to try and be healthy and it had thick hard stems and no seasoning except for a dusting of nutritional yeast. Tasted like hot soggy leaves and hard branches. (I suspect they don't make that often and it doesn't have a recipe bc no one would like that) The chicken Caesar. It was good the imitation chicken is soft with no weird texture. The garlic toast made me happy and the dressing is what you would expect (thankful that it doesn't taste like ranch I hate when people make a vegan Caesar and it's really just bland nasty ranch) The omelet. Different. But overall a win. Not cheesy just nice veggie filling it what is some kind of chick pea flour maybe? Potatoes were solid. The pepperific burger....was a major bummer. It sounded exciting on the menu with pickled jalapeños and enchilada sauce. BUT it was just a plain old burger with a couple canned jalapeños on it. No enchilada sauce to be seen. So not worth the price tag at all. So in summary. We won some and we lost some. So not consistently amazing. But it could be. They just need to pump more love into these recipes and ....that kale!!! Hadn't eaten here since before COVID-19 hit. I was craving some Mozzarella wedges and Mac N Cheese, ordered, pick it up. When I got to the car I couldn't wait to try a mozz wedge since again (I was craving them!!) It was really hot and gooey, but there was an odd flavor. The aftertaste was similar to what I would describe as freezer burn. The Mac N Cheese left much to be desired as well. It tastes like they meted Daiya Chedder shreds onto pasta. The consistency is nice and creamy, but the flavor is not what I would call 2021 Vegan Comfort food. We went here on a Sunday morning for brunch, we came pretty late and were told the wait is about 20 minutes but got seated after about 10. The interior is super cute, not too much but just enough you feel welcomed, the outside seating area is too loud and too close to the street for me personally. As we went through the menu we looked around and everybody seemed happier with their food and the portions were pretty big. I got the magic Alfredo noodles and they were so bomb, I haven't had Alfredo noodles since I turned vegan, and this really hit the spot. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles which were also so good and the Mac n cheese which was not really that good at al (wouldn't recommend getting that one). Finally went to the new Wayward Vegan after Arista Catering bought the restaurant. I loved Wayward before and I love this new incarnation as well. One improvement is that the menu is smaller. Yes, this is good! The old menu was too busy. I often felt overwhelmed flipping through the pages, trying to make a decision. The menu now has a front and a back and that is all. My family loved the omelettes and Huevos rancheros. Staff were great. Definitely will go back. read more

I'm updating my review because the owners reached out to me and provided their ingredients for one dish that left me super bloated. I have a nearly nonexistent history with bloating so when it happened after a couple bites of the Down home Platter it was pretty bizarre. Nonetheless, it was only one dish. I'll stick to the simpler items if I ever come back. Like the LumberJack Breakfast is my jam! So much protein and the pancakes are classic. I encourage you to ask for detailed ingredient lists to assist in smarter ordering choices. I feel a bit more hesitant about trying new things here but we can't walk around being afraid of life can we? It's important to support and be gracious towards the vegan restaurants we have here, as there are surprisingly few in Seattle.
