Hidden gem! The interior isn't anything to write home about, but it's refreshing to not always be surrounded by the high end touristy stuff. One of our favourite places to eat on the Cape. In the high summer season the wait is out the door but still worth waiting here rather than any other place which doesn't take reservations. In the winter it's s little less busy but still a great place to eat and mix with the locals. The bar is good, usually filled with regulars and they have a good selection of seasonal beers. The food is delicious and the seafood is amazing. Lovely wait staff who never change for the most part each time you go and although the decor is quite rustic and basic, the warm welcome you receive more than makes up for any lack of fancy decor. A good family restaurant serving amazingly good food. Highly recommended even if you do have to wait for a table and prices are very good value. read more

Sometimes it's not bad service, It's bad customers. Go to the Yardarm for good food in a nice convenient location. They have their own root beer for the kids and they use a great local hot sauce. First of all the service is incredibly slow. The hostess went out of her way to be rude. Her comments and eye rolls were enough to make my head spin. The place was filthy. The woman's bathroom was covered in mold all over the ceiling. The floor was filthy. I don't even want to know what the kitchen looks like. The chicken Parmesan came with pasta that tasted like it was soaked in chlorine water. When I told the waitress she laughed and walked away. Our bill came to almost 200 dollars and she took 20 dollars off. What makes me never willing to try this place again is that hostess and her rude and unprofessional attitude. Will never go back. Absolutely disgusted. Oh the mozzarella sticks were also so burnt they didn't have cheese inside. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This place is dirty and run down with rude staff. read more

We went there for lunch today with a party of 12, 6 were children under the age of 10. The service was remarkable. The waitress was extremely patient with us, which wasn't easy with 12 out-of-towners. The food was really good, fresh and flavorful. Their fish Rueben sandwich is out of this world. Been here many times but was somewhat dissapointed this time. The seafood chowder was fantastic as usual, but my burger was subpar. I got the blue cheese and red onion burger. It was stamped in shape and texture. Came out medium well when I ordered medium rare. The blue cheese was a tasteless paste of sorts. Great place for a beer and some chowder but the other food seems to have taken a turn for the worse. Make the trip to the 400 east. read more

Walked in trying to order takeout from the bar- Bar tender took the drink orders of 3 people who walked in after me.. So I left and ended up picking up frozen pizza at the gas station for the night.. Small place, but great food and atmosphere. It's a casual place to grab a quick meal or knock back a few brews after a long day at the beach. I went with a few girlfriends a few weeks ago before a night on the town, and our meals were really good. I got a stuffed clam and coleslaw, and my friends got fried clams and a hamburger. All were satisfing and the prices were just right (Especially for recent college grads. like ourselves who are still unemployed due to this great economy). Although we had a 730 reservation we were indifferently seated a little after 8 o'clock as the hostess said to us "okay let's go". Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient but our dinner was somewhat disappointing. The clam chowder was tasteless and if it were not for the fact that it was called clam chowder, we would never have guessed there were any actual clams in it. In general the food was at best so so, and our experience was less than memorable. Actually the poor treatment we received from our hostess will remain in our memories for years to come and make for a few good stories to tell our family when we get home. read more

Best meal we've had all week! Fried oysters were luscious, fresh, crispy on outside, melt in your mouth inside, seafood goodness. Fries & cole slaw were good also. Really tasty Belfast Lobster Ale to wash it all down. Other half had baked haddock which he proclaimed (several times) as $&#*@ delicious! Chowder was very tasty as advertised. Finished it off with Lemoncello Cake and coffee which was sweet and tasty. But, hands down, the meal was the winner! Hostess was excellent. The chowder was, is, and always has been delicious. The service is friendly. We had a small issue where they didn't box everything we asked for up for a doggie bag. We mentioned it to our server and she came back with complete orders to make up for it. This is the kind of place the Yardarm is. Go there, and when they tell you it'll be a 45 minute wait, you sit there, have a beer and shut up about it. It's the Cape...you're on vacation. Relax! read more

My husband and I came to the Yardarm to eat lunch before returning to Connecticut after a great week at the Cape. We were there only a few days before for dinner and had a nice experience. . Well, the owner seated us this time for lunch ,but I requested to be seated in the back and he said that he did not know if he would be able to accommodate us because the table seated 5 people. But nobody was waiting to be seated ! He seemed at that moment to only care about how many people he could fit in the restaurant (which the place had empty tables and nobody waiting to be seated at that time). I let that go . . .When our server came to our table she clearly had a snippy attitude. I let that go. . .Then I ordered the fish and chips , the normal portion instead of the larger size. When the food came to the table, there was a tiny little piece of fried cod on my plate with fries (later to find out only 5 oz of fish which they should state on the menu) and I said something to the server regarding the size of the fish and price of $14.95. She looked at me "with daggers" and snippily "corrected my pricing of the food" to instead $13.95 and said it was 5 oz. but stating it was a thick piece of fish. Nonsense!!!!! Her snippy service combined with the rip-off fish dinner was enough for me and my husband to say "never again" to this restaurant. For that price, you could go to a restaurant with a nice server with much better priced menu items as there are so many wonderful choices on the Cape than this. . Not bad, not great. They have a solid beer list, a cozy dining room and a fairly expansive menu. The staff seems nice and competent enough, but didn't leave any lasting impression. Our food is where the only real issue was. And not because it was bad, but again, it failed to make any real impression. I had a bowl of the clam chowder. Eh. Then I had the fish tacos, a house favorite according to the menu. Eh. My girlfriend did not like her severely overcooked burger. Probably won't be back. read more

Yardarm was overall a fantastic local Cape Cod Hangout. A place where the locals eat. The waitress was good and pointed out that the fish was locally caught within that day or a day or two max by local Chatham/Orleans fishermen. I had Fish and Chips which was awesome! No complaints. =) Great spot to feel like a Cape Cod local. Don't know how busy it gets in the summer, we went off season around late November. read more

OMG. This was so terrible! We just had lunch there. Service was unfriendly but efficient. Clam chowder was edible but canned. The lobster roll arrived with only one side of the bun grilled. The other side was soggy and coated in grease. The lobster meat looked old and unappetizing but I hoped it would taste better. No such luck. It was lobster that was clearly not fresh and tasted foul. My husbands burger was mediocre (think frozen and preformed beef patty) and his fries were bland and not worth eating. The waitress seemed put out that I sent back my lobster roll and never apologized. They did take it off the bill though. Never again will I be eating here. read more

Pub Fare, but a wide assortment of both fresh seafood and grilled or broiled meat dishes. The crock of onion soup is one of the best i've had. The stuffed quahog that i had last week was very good, and larger than ones i have had there before. This place is a local hang out, so tyou know the seafood is local and fresh. There are nightly specials on several nights of the week such as steak night, mexican night, prime rib night etc. Its good food. read more

When vacationing, I enjoy going where the locals go and this fit the bill perfectly. It looks small from outside, but they manage to squeeze you in! The restaurant is lively, friendly and the food is very good.Many seafood dishes, which I prefer more than anything, but plenty of interesting landlubber specials as well. I had the seafood chowder, which was excellent and ordered baked scallops and baked potato instead of the fries. (And, I still gained 4 lbs. in one week away!) Great place! This a is great hole in the wall place filled with locals! You wouldn't step foot in here unless someone told u too and once in you will never want to leave! The baked stuffed shrimp were delish! The fried shrimp was one of the best I've ever had! It was in a very light batter and golden fried to perfection! The hostess was very friendly and welcoming but the waitress was crusty and didn't like answering many questions. Lastly, I did have the chowder and it was excellent (New England not New York style). High expectations are made when someone tells you it is some of the best (pub) food on the Cape. We had the clam chowder and the Sky High Club. Excellent, filling chowder. The sandwich was good, but probably not the best item on the menu to test the rave reviews. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortably warn-in and older. That only comes with years and years of dedicated patronage. The Pats game was on and the whole bar area was full, so we sat at a table in the dining room. It's the kind of room where you can hear everyone's conversation but in a place like this that isn't a bad thing. We loved listening in, and when we weren't paying attention I'm sure our conversation made for some interesting moments for the other tables. The food came out quickly, and the menu is actually so well-rounded with all the classics it made it difficult to pick! We will definitely come back when we're in the area and try out some of the more local dishes. read more

Really, the yahdahm is a great local pub with really great pub food. All the fried seafood is tasty and light with really generous portions. Great steak tips, great homemade fish cakes, awesome onion strings, nice waitresses that have been there forever. Yes, baked beans with the fish cakes, its a cape cod thing.
